... Firstly, my sincere condolesences to the family of Patrick Swayze. I'm probably showing my age a bit here, but he was masterful in Ghost I thought. God bless. Oh and Kanye West, what a douche. Srsly. "Welcome to Thunder, welcome to the SuperStation TBS, and welcome to Lubbock, Texas," 'Iron' Mike Tenay screams out as we pan around a sold out around, as blue and white pyros explode into the arena sounding like heat seeking missiles. "I'm Mike Tenay, and with me tonight is the man who plumbed the ditches of Texas with his father, 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes and 'Living Legend' Larry Zbysko, both two esteemed legends of the squared circle, and gentlemen, we are just one week on from Road Wild in Sturgis and already War Games at Fall Brawl is beginning to take shape and both of you have plenty of history with the unforgiving steel cage of this rugged team encounter. Of course, at Fall Brawl, team Four Horsemen will go up against the nWo, and gentlemen, we all know what happened last year at Fall Brawl when Curt Hennig turned his back on the Four Horsemen, slamming the head of 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair with a steel gate, opening him wide up and causing the Horsemen to go their own way." "That's right Mike, in fact, Dusty Rhodes and myself have squared off against one another at War Games," Larry Zbysko responds, "And I can assure you that while there is inevitably only one winner, there is a lot of losers because the pain that each man is subjected to is intense." "Well uhhh if you weeeel Mike," Dusty Rhodes continues, "We are live and in kulah in a very special city to me, Lubbock Texasszzzz baby, and brudda, there an't nothing more dangeroussszzz than War Games." ------------------------- The nWo theme music hits, as 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash and 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page descend down the ramp, before Page causes the pyros to explode with his patented Diamond Cutter sign. The two men continue their arrogant, condescending waltz to the ring, before Kevin Nash grabs the microphone from David Penzer. "Lubbock Texas!" Nash cries out. "nWo in da house! Big Sexy in da house! You know, Diamond Dallas, it seems there are some people out there who have lost the faith. Who have lost the dream of the brotherhood for life. You know, it is very fitting that you and I stand out here in this ring together. You see, it was Diamond Dallas Page's idea in the early 1990s that one day, through this strategic hostile takeover you know and love as the New World Order which is ...." Too Sweet! The crowd chants out "That we would revolutionise professional wrestling. We would make this sport the cornerstone of the sporting industry. We would give this sport the prestige it needed. We would revolutionise this sport and make it a mainstream recognised prime time venture. And boy, as I stand and look here in Lubbock, Texas, in front of a sold out house, I can only summise that the New World Order has been an overwhelming success. So I just want to make sure that everyone in the back knows, remember to watch their back, you might end up in a body bag because at the end of the day this big dawg is not happy with some of the snyde remarks, and that my blood is as black with the nWo as they come..." He passes the microphone to Diamond Dallas Page. "Yo." The crowd boos. "You love me, you hate me, but one thing is for sure, you'll never forget me. Kevin Nash, you are certified 100% right, and man, I can assure you things are going to get JACKED UP! JACKED UP! JAAACCCKEEEEED UP to here. This war continues to rage on, yet the revolution of the nWo shows no signs of stopping. The plans into 1999 to take professional wrestling into the 21st century are all being run by the nWo, and soon, soon enough Kev, this show will be known as nWo Thunder. You see, it's all a part of the master plan, which continues as we know it at Fall Brawl, in the classic War Games. But, before we get to that, we've got a challenge. You see, there's a couple of guys in the Four Horsemen that people are calling the keys to their ... success. But you see boys, that's an oxymoron. Come War Games, we're going to put such a dent in you that you will be forced out of commission. And it all starts tonight, I want to know... Bill Goldberg... Ric Flair... if you two have the [BEEP] to step forward through that curtain and face the two most extreme members of the nWo right here, tonight, in Lubbock Texas?" The click of hooves is heard, and out from underneath the Turner Tron steps 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair and Bill Goldberg. Flair piroettes at the top of the ramp with his arms out, and slicks back his hair, while proudly showing off his red sequined robe. "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Did I hear you just challenge the Four Horsemen, Diamond Dallas Page? Is it true? Is it true that you just signed your own death warrant, pal? You dare challenge the Horsemen, and hope timidly that the Horsemen won't take you on, brother? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! You want a response? You've got one, we're going to walk that aisle later tonight and brother, we're going to style and profile and take an enormous step towards ending your career brother. Bill, do you think we should take these guys on?" Goldberg snarls and grins before leaning over the microphone. "Page, Nash... YOU'RE NEXT!" ----------------------- Backstage, 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion exits his private black stretch limousine. He looks far from impressed as he begins to walk into the arena... "This should not be happening Jo-Jo!" He whines. "This is not fair!" ------------------------ "What the hell is that?" 'Iron' Mike Tenay remarks as we cut backstage. A black stealth like Batmobile has pulled up backstage, and outside the vehicle in a very revealing tight hugging white dress is Ryan Lynn. She is about to open the door, when Tenay finally clicks that this...this... this! Is the official vehicle of Thrillapalooza! ----------------------- A graphic pops up before we head to our first break announcing that tonight, 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho will defend his WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Raven! ----------------------- Backstage, 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle is seen applying nice to his badgered neck, when Disco Inferno and 'Das Wunderkind' Alex Wright enter his dressing room. "Dude, you dance like... like..." Disco Inferno starts. "I know... I know," Angle interrupts. "Like Michael Jackson, I know. I get it all the time." "No dude, like Steve Earkle," Inferno continues. "Unt zis is not good," Wright continues. "But dude, you are an Olympic Gold Medalist," Inferno comments. "It's true! It's true! It's DAMN true," Angle smiles. "And as such, we can see the benefits of protecting you from nWo Japan. So, you're no Tony Manero, you're not even a Barry Gibb, hell you're not even Tito, but pal, you are officially allies of the Dancing Fools..." Angle smiles. "I think we should celebrate," Angle comments. "I'll grab the guitar, do you boys know Jimmy Cracked Corn?" "Unt what is zis?" Wright asks. "Uhhh... look Kurt, not tonight... please, not tonight." Where do they get the energy from? Taco Bell? This is incredible stuff. I love the planchas, I love the multiple blokes being taken out by suicide dives. I love La Parka and his crazy steel chair, and he looked to wind up on a helpless Curry Man, only for Psicosis to grab the chair, give him in the guts and roll him up into a schoolboy roll up. It wasn't your typical cheap pin, Psicosis had worked his rear off in this match and was highly entertaining... same could be said for all the competitors really. Result: Your winner, Psicosis
Backstage, Kimberly Page walks into the nWo dressing room with two shopping bags, one a Victoria's Secret bag the other a Chanel bag. She is dressed in a short black dress with the nWo logo on the right breast. She puts her bags down, and notices 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page grinning like a cheshire cat. "Babe, ... I know that smile," she utters. "You do indeed, because tonight, I guaran-TEE that things are going to get jacked up to high hell. Tonight, the plan comes off, and it'll be..Bada-bing, bada-bang..BADA-BOOM!" ----------------------- Backstage, Eddie Guerrero runs into Chavo Guerrero Jr who is just leaving the WCW.com live broadcast position from a mid show internet interview with Jeremy Borash and Mark Madden. Chavo has the Tag Team Championship around his waist, and a firm smile. "Esse, my amigo familia, come here.." Eddie Guerrero says as he extends his arms as if to encourage a hug. Chavo slowly leans over to Eddie, and after a stand off, hugs his uncle. Eddie then pushes Chavo away, and turns his back on him, leaving Chavo confused. "Esse, you are still a failure, you will never account to anything esse. You are STILL a shame on Los Guerreros..." Chavo looks stunned, as Eddie storms off. There's three Richard Nixon's on their way to the ring. They pace their way to the ring, before ripping off the mask to reveal Lance Storm, Billy Kidman and Jerry Lynn. I wonder if Davey Boy will ever be able to rekindle the 'snap' in his movements around the ring? Because tonight, he clearly wasn't able to 'hang and bang' with Thrillapalooza, and it brought the mood of the crowd down. Still, it was an opportunity to showcase Thrillapalooza who ended it when Lance Storm hit a snap kick to the head of the British Bulldog for the pinfall. Result: Your winners, Thrillapalooza
Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund is standing by with the WCW United States Champion, 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit. "Alright Mike, I thank you, tonight my special guest is the current United States Champion, Chris Benoit of the Four Horsemen. Chris, these next few weeks shape as the most important weeks in the history of professional wrestling as we know it, but aside from War Games, I want to ask you about the incident you got yourself involved with this past Monday night in Corpus Christi, when you aided your Horsemen ally Bill Goldberg from a destructive attack from the Giant..." Benoit strokes his chin before smiling, showing a hideous set of teeth, before leaning forward towards the microphone. "You know Gene, I've been known to let my actions do the talking. I'm all abooooooout performance. I'm not known for threats, I'm known for promises. That's what makes me the cornerstone of the Four Horsemen, Gene. And when I saw my friend Bill Goldberg being attacked by the Giant it was only natural that I should get involved. You see, as the long and winding road takes us towards Fall Brawl and War Games, the spirit of the Horsemen endures. And it endures Gene because there is a spirit of success. It iritates the likes of the Giant to see Bill Goldberg so successful, but Gene, it is what it is. You see I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and I don't care whether its grizzly bears or Rabid Wolverines, nothing soft comes out of Edmonton. Nothing. And Giant, if you dare step in our path again, the only thing you're going to need to bring is a damn big body bag, because pal, I will savage you like the Horsemen I am. Don't consider it a warning, don't consider it a threat, consider it a promise!" Benoit smirks, before walking off. Eddie continues to be on the improve, if that's possible, and Finlay is starting to gain some overness here in the States. A good, crisp match, ended with the usual Frog Splash from Guerrero to retain the Championship. Result: Your winner, and STILL WCW Television Champion, Eddie Guerrero
Before we go to the next commercial break, we cut backstage, inside the lair of the New World Order. Scott Hall is sitting on one side of the room keeping to himself, 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash altogether on his own on another side. Walking towards the door, with a slight grin is Curt Hennig. "After the break, Curt Hennig will face Wrath!" Tenay announces.
Wrath v Curt Hennig Wrath came at Curt Hennig hard with a series of hard shoulder blocks, before Curt Hennig rolled to the outside to get control. He started arguing with referee Charles Robinson of hair pulls, and while Robinson was distracted, 'Ravishing' Rick Rude got into the ring with his trusty steel brief case and slammed it over the head of Wrath. Hennig got back in the ring, picked up the barely conscious Wrath, and applied a Dragon Sleeper. Wrath didn't flap his arms, he was out like a light and the bell was called for, as the ring filled with debris. Result: Your winner, Curt Hennig
The crowd is booing, as on the Turner Tron is 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. He is backstage in the interview centre standing by with 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes, for a special interview. "Well if you weeeeeel..." "Will you please...shut...the HELL UP!" "Well I don see why I shoulda, I mean I'm just here to ..." Jericho starts stamping his feet "I don't wanna listen to this! I want some respect!" He grabs Rhodes by the collar, and goes nose to nose with him. "Boy, you really are fired up," Rhodes remarks. "Fired up? You think? I know what you're going to interview me about. You're going to ask me about Bret Hart or Sting. You know, that's all I hear. Bret Hart this, Bret Hart that, Sting this, Sting that, Sting Sting Sting Sting Sting Sting! God, I can't get those words out of my head. And you, Dusty Rhodes, swing it shake it move it make it who do you think you are? All you are pal is the one time Champion of all the Bahamas. Well no more Junior! I won't listen to it!" He relents finally, and pushes Rhodes back. "Do you know who I am? Do you, Dusty? I'm the King of the World, the Ayatollah of Rock... n Roollllaaaa, your paragon of good virtue, and your WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Not Bret Hart, not Sting. Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! And I demand some respect, I demand some recognition. I'll tell you what Dusty, I don't care who wins the Best of Three series between Bret Hart and Sting, I don't care that some are saying it's hotter than all the World Series combined, I don't care that people are saying this is Nameth v Montana. I don't care if people think it's Larry Bird versus Michael Jordan. What I want is recognition. This is all about me, damn it! Damn it! To hell with the rest of it," he says as he picks up a chair that is lying around and flings it across the Interview Centre. "It's all about me, your paragon of good virtue. You can upset me all you want Dusty, I won't cry. I will not cry on screen, not even a little. Well maybe a little Dusty, I mean I'm a man with a heart, I'm not made of stone damn it! So I'll tell you what, since you and the media circus that follows me around day and night wants to wind me up, at Fall Brawl you are all going to see a new side to Chris Jericho, I'm going to take this to the next level, and you're going to all wish you never turned on me. All of you! You Dusty, the fans, the cameraman, you're all bottom feeding trash bags. You all had the chance to be redeemed, you all had the chance to follow the footsteps of Chris Jericho as Jerichoholics. All I wanted was for you... to want me! I'll make you want me, I'll make you need me, at Fall Brawl, Super Dustio Brother, I will remain the World Heavyweight Champion, and you will want me the way I was..." Rey and Chavo couldn't believe their luck that the All American amateur superstars were so far off their game. The tagging was not solid, there seemed to be little communication, and it showed when Rey Mysterio Jr ended the match with the Springboard Hurricanrana on Scott Steiner, when Rick was slow to retaliate and save his partner. Result: Your winners, Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr
Straight after the break, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper stormed down to the ring unannounced, complete with his Scottish kilt. He got in the ring, and separated the Steiner Brothers who were admonishing one another over the loss. "Hug each other! Hug each other!" Piper implored. "You know, I've seen it all boys. I know what makes a great tag team. I've seen them from the Rock n Roll Express to the Legion of Doom, from Harlem Heat to... the Steiner Brothers. But this... THIS I have not seen. You two are brothers, you two are blood. You had a great opportunity tonight to recement yourselves as the cornerstone of this golden division, and what do you do? Rick, I have to ask ya, are ya doing a Long John Silver on me? Huh? Are you leading Scott astray? And as far as you go, Scott... 250 pounds of the most chiseled muscle you will ever see, a mat ring technician, an all around power house. Son, you should be holding the gold. Why aren't ya? I'll tell you why, because you've got no spirit at the moment. Now the both of you, I want you to come to the back with me and remember the legacy of the Steiner Brothers. I want you to remember the Tag Team Championships. I want you to remember the family Christmas'. I want you to know you were better than them all, and above all else, I want you to find that spirit! Now are ya with me... or do I have to slug you down myself?" Piper peeled off his leather jacket, and got his dukes in fighting position. Scott and Rick looked at one another, and nodded slowly together, before tapping Piper on the back of the back. The crazed Scotsmen led them to the back in unison, which was starting to look incredibly unlikely just moments ago. The war rages. The Mexican latino legend Konnan versus the second generation Horsemen Malenko. It is worth remembering Konnan's feats south of the border, yes, he's been hamstrung with some forgettable gimmicks and perhaps at times he isn't in the best shape, but he is an absolute legend down there. And he wrestled a very sound match tonight against a very proficient Malenko, with the Horsemen finally gaining ascendency to the point of being able to execute the Texas Cloverleaf for the victory. The still undefeated Bill Goldberg, the ethereal legend 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair who seems to outlast them all, 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page the conspirator behind the advent of the New World Order and 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash, the ultimate wrestler whose power and presence turned the world upside when aligning with Scott Hall from outside of WCW in 1996. And here they were, all in action in one match on Thunder. You wouldn't describe this as a technical master class, it was more vicious, it was more guerilla warfare, grown men fighting and scrapping it out and then when the chips were down using as many elements as possible to survive the night. Bill Goldberg's abdomin seemed to be causing enormous problems. At some stages of the match it appeared he was unable to keep a keen centre of gravity. This gave Page and Nash a massive lift, and Nash being the perennial power house kept blasting Goldberg in the torso, focusing on the ribs and the lower torso region to try and negate Goldberg's ability to use the Jackhammer. Indeed, this involved expending the oxygen from Goldberg by sending him across the ring hard into the corners and Nash driving his enormous physical presence into Goldberg when he charged in behind him. There appeared no way out. That is, until the dirtiest player in the game got himself involved. Flair waited till Nash was somewhere in the vicinity, and when Nash came charging across the ring in an irish whip, Flair pulled down the top rope, sending the giant wrestler over the top rope. Page rushed in, but Flair counter acted Page, got on his knees and hit the non cerebial equaliser down where, you know where on Page. Flair keeled back to his corner, as Goldberg officially tagged Flair in. Flair continued to slap Page relentlessy, before Nash finally resumed his presence in the match. Nash officially tagged Page in, and the physicality continued. Finally, Page went for the Diamond Cutter, but before Flair wriggled free, hit another low blow, Nash ran in, copped one for good measure, and then Flair slapped the chest of Nash so hard that he tumbled out. Goldberg appeared in pain, but he begged Flair for a tag, which he gave.... SPEAR! Goldberg got Page good. He tried to lift DDP for the Jackhammer, but he couldn't qui... wait a second, second effort, yes he can! Jackhammer! Result: Your winners, Bill Goldberg and Ric Flair
After the break, WCW doctors backstage were frantically wrapping up in restraining bandages the abdominal region of Bill Goldberg who whinced in agony.
WCW World Heavyweight Championship 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho (c) v Raven This was Raven's greatest opportunity at fame. A chance to kick start the one man revolution of professional wrestling, a chance to really change the direction this industry was heading in. This was his chance at the big time, the mainstream, the most coveted Championship in all of professional wrestling. He'd had tastes from the sweet cup of championship wine in ECW, but here he was in front of a televised audience of millions, a major opportunity indeed. But you sense none of that would flood a mind tormented like Raven's. A mind which may be tormented but who understands the psychological demons faced by the fans, because, he faced them himself. The fans supported him overtly tonight, it was like that lived in him vicariously. They felt ever blow, every cut, every drip of blood, every strained breath and every desperate lunge at the title that they all craved the most. And yet standing across the ring from him, Jericho's mind raced. He knew that if he was to truly be coveted as a legend as he desired he needed this victory. He needed to keep winning. He needed to keep turning away the nay sayers and proving his worth. So tonight, he was prepared to take all of Raven's pain, all of his plunder, and boy, didn't Raven dish it up. It was truly an exceptional art of war tonight. These two rising superstars gave a show worthy of a Pay-Per-View extravaganza. They were on the same page throughout, executing some slick spots that left the crowd gasping. So many near falls, so many desperate breaks of submissions, so many last second counters. This was a wrestling master class. Perhaps, just perhaps, the match of Thunder for 1998. On and on it went, and the crowd became neurotic with it. Into the crowd they went, brawling epically, glancing blows across each other's heads. Of course, with Raven's demands for Ravens Rulez being met, this was a liberal take on the freedom of modern day professional wrestlers to use the entire arena. Up and down the aisle they brawled, the unforgiving steel guardrails used both to cannon each other offer, and to silence the other with crippling agony as they both found their crown jewels sucker punched when they were thrust on top of the steel guardrail. But one should not leave this reading believing that this was a typical street fight. One should not feel as though this match was simply a street brawl. One should not leave thinking that it was a ho-hum bash 'em up slog 'em out affair. No, this was no home run derby, there was intracacies and strategies being evolved inside the squared circle. And it allowed Raven to showcase his true in ring wrestling talents. He's not just a hardcore extremist, there's far more to him, and tonight he was gallantly showing it. One should not forget Chris Jericho in all this, tonight he proved to all that the World Heavyweight Championship was no fluke. For he was copping a beating, but time and time again he kept coming back. He kept picking up the tempo, kept copping the intensity, and kept giving as good as he was getting. Near fall after near fall subsided, after 16 minutes of pandamonium we started to even see some slow mat wrestling with clinical submissions and counter submissions offered by both wrestlers. Both men's faces were crimson, yet when they both laid on the mat glaring up at the ring lights, with the referee trying to make a ten count, both men rolled to their side and seen the gleaming gold of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and found not just a second wind, but for the intensity of this bout, perhaps a sixth or seventh. Back to their feet they went, toe to toe, Raven hit a belly to back suplex on Chris Jericho, with Jericho aching in agony as his lower back took a tremendous blow. Realising that he needed something special to beat this phenomenal Champion, Raven headed to the top and tried his own version of a Frog Splash. Sadly, Raven is not quite Eddie Guerrero and Jericho was able to roll out of the way. With absolute desperation in his mind, Jericho tried one last time to get the Liontamer on the badly injured Raven. Raven tried to fight back, but his reserves of energy were well and truly consumed. Raven would not give up, not till Jericho arched back for the sixth time, and you could almost hear the snapping of Raven's vertebrae, it was only then that he tapped rigorously, knowing that while he had missed this great chance, he had the talent to get more. If Jericho wanted respect, surely tonight he had earned it. Result: Your winner, and STILL WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho
As Chris Jericho tried to keep his feet, stumbling to hold his feet, he finally grabbed the Championship off referee Nick Patrick. He looked savagely at Raven, wanting to slam the Championship in his face, but as he looked down at the writhing Raven, even he could not tag the gallant challenger across the face. Heck, that was even if he had the energy to do so. Meanwhile, we cut to the back, and found 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair being choked out by Taz! He had him locked in well, Flair was fighting for his life, before 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko finally came on the scene with a steel chair forcing Taz to release and retreat.

Really enjoyed the show mate, i like how you put more detail into the two final matches because they were easily pay per view worthy. I'm interested in what your doing with the Steiners awell. Will they break up or will they come back better than ever with Piper managing them? Again though after the Eddie/Chavo thing last week we could see Chavo interfering which would give Raven the title and keep Eddie over. 'Total Package' Lex Luger v The Giant He needs to be kept dominant. Sting v Bret 'The Hitman' Hart (stipulation to be decided by our winning tipster) Sting is the bigger WCW star so he gets my vote here. Thrillapalooza (Billy Kidman, Jerry Lynn and Hector Garza) v British Connection ('Lord' Steven Regal and 'Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay) and Lenny Lane Tough one here. Lenny Lane is a weak link in Regal's team. WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger (c) v Psicosis v Juventud Guerrera Lyger's a great Champion, but Juventud will be better in the long run. 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle v 'The Laughing Man' Hugh Morrus I'm guessing that this will be a simple squash match for Angle. I'm really enjoying his gimmick in this diary, and think he could become very good. 'K-Dawg' Konnan v Disco Inferno I actually considered Disco Inferno getting the victory for a while here. Konnan can still go for a good few years though, and put good talent over. WCW World Tag Team Championships: Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr (c) v Los Vengadores ('The Chairman of WCW' La Parka and Lizmark Jr) Mysterio and Chavo make a great team and should easily win this match 'Dog Faced Gremlin' Rick Steiner v Scott Steiner This could be interesting but Scott has always had superior conditioning, is a superior athlete and is better on the microphone. Scott should win this. WCW Television Championship: Eddie Guerrero (c) v Raven Eddie's been a good Champion and can now move onto better things. Meanwhile, Raven can bring prestige to the belt through promos alone. 'Total Package' Lex Luger v The Giant The Giant has to be booked to look strong consistently if people are going to take him seriously. He will make a great heel Champion for you one day. Sting v Bret 'The Hitman' Hart (stipulation to be decided by our winning tipster) Perhaps personal preference here, but Sting can still go for ten years. Bonus Tie Breaker Question Which former War Games superstar will appear on Monday Nitro 1) Tully Blanchard 2) Ricky Morton 3) 'Sweet' Stan Lane 4) Michael P.S Hayes I struggled with this for a while, before thinking that Michael Hayes would make the most sense.
a BATMOBILE? don't know how that would've gone over in the real world but that's certainty..... different
Certainly not the real batmobile. Possibly could have been better written, but a cheap, tacky batmobile. Essentially, I want Thrillapalooza to be ... different. And I personally find it ironic that it seems every wrestler has a black hummer and every faction has a black stretch limo (except for Eddie and JBL of course), so I threw it in there. Its not something that makes a repetitive existence in the story, its just more or less there to establish the stable.
It was WCW they would have easily dropped a few million for the rights to the batmobile for one show on free TV they did stunts like that all the time ;)
Well, yeah, but credit where credit is due... at least in this case we didn't pay heaps for KISS and force ourselves into a situation where we had a KISS demon on our shows :D:D Dale Torborg I found to be incredibly lame.

...
WCW Midcarder Gains Mainstream Exposure In news coming to hand, and confirmed on wcw.com by Jeremy Borash, Mike Awesome, who was on the cusp of gaining a good push under the guidance of 'The Mouth of the South' Jimmy Hart has been granted a period of hiatus from the company to focus on his involvement with the movie Analyze This which is scheduled for release in 1999. The movie stars film legend Robert De Niro as a mob leader and comedian Billy Crystal as his shrink. It is understood Mike Awesome has gained a role as a mob gangster bodyguard in support of Robert De Niro's character Paul Vitti. It is also understood Awesome has been released not only for the extensive filming time but also will be absent from World Championship Wrestling post the release of the movie for promotional interests. It is not known how WCW will fill the void created by Awesome's absence, and in particular it is unknown if they will continue to hit the talent market to take Awesome's role. It is believed that Awesome will return to active action upon his release from film requirements.

well that kinda sucks no career killer mike awesome..... oh well
Without a doubt, I was desperate to use Mike Awesome. I was very impressed by him in WCW for real. He got some stinker gimmicks, but I thought he pulled them all off. Even the 70's guy, the fat chick thriller, they were kinda fun and he did them well IMO, but to me the money maker was the Career Killer. I can't believe he got moved away from that gimmick. He had a set match (The Ambulance Match), and his look, his menace, and his ability to hit power moves all over the place suited the gimmick. IMO from that era three guys could have gone up the card, Kanyon as 'Positively' Chris Kanyon, Sean O'Haire (he had a look and a presence I felt) and Awesome. They were all good enough workers, perhaps not to be the main highlight, but certainly to be in amongst at least the upper midcard. For the record, he was in the midst of getting a nice push. I wanted to have him on his own streak, and then beyond to be a bit of a 'powerhouse' main event conflict settler. Someone that could be a 'lackey' or a face vengeance merchant. Still have big plans for him upon his return, but I'm not sure how long you go out for when you make a movie, as I'm into 1999 February in TEW and he isn't back yet sadly.
i am anxiuos to know what it does to his overness though
Overness wise, he pretty much bumped up 2 notches all over the globe. For the US market he went from C+ to B+ with the usual Puerto Rico drag pulling down the average. I must say, as a writer/booker, I'm looking forward to his return. Its somewhat disappointing for me as I was really working on him as a project to build up. 'Dem's da breaks!

We are live from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and at the top of the show we cut backstage to the dressing room of the New World Order. It is a hive of activity. 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page is sitting on a leather recliner leaning forward, when his ultra sexy wife Kim Page walks forward and surprises Page by putting a.... man bag?... over his shoulder. DDP looks shocked, while Kim looks on admiringly. "I think it looks great," the fashionable mistress says. "... Certainly puts some glow around that middrift Dallas, and I think we can all agree you need that." A look of interest comes over the face of Page, before he rips the man bag off and throws it to the floor. "You know, you're right," he adds. "I do need something around my waist. And tonight, bada-bing...bada-bang...bada-BOOM!, I'll start the process of getting some gold around this waist..." Page looks mesmerised, lost in thought, as we fade out. -------------------------------- Standing in the middle of the ring is 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. He looks pumped, pulling down and stretching the top rope, looking focussed. The music of Bret 'The Hitman' Hart strikes, and after restarting finally Bret Hart appe.. wait a second, that's an imitation midget Hart. The midget Hart follows Hart's usual shtick, and even gives out his pink sunglasses to a kid at ringside before walking into the ring. Hart charges at Jericho, who promptly clotheslines him, and then drops him again before hooking up the Lion Tamer. The imitation Hart taps vigorously, and Jericho begins jumping around the ring with his arms being thrust aloft, with a great big smile over his face. He puts his index finger inside his mouth and wipes a saliva drop over his cheek, trying to pretend his crying from the splendour of this meritorious win. But before he can really celebrate overtly, the real Bret 'The Hitman' Hart appears with a steel chair no less, and Jericho very quickly rolls out of the ring. Jericho collects his Championship, and as we cut to a break both men are taunting each other aggressively. --------------------------- After the break, we cut backstage to the Gorilla position where 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho picks up a steel chair and throws it against the wall in disgust. "This is my moment! Mine! Mine! Mine!" He begins jumping around in frustration, before pushing over a cameraman, before looking straight into the camera that is looking face up at the ceiling. "Consider yourself a marked man, Bret Hart! You don't get in the way of the King of the World on his show Monday Night Jericho! All I ever wanted from you was for you to want me... for you, to want me? Am I asking too much? I mean, as the WCW World HEavyweight Champion, am I asking too much?" Jericho thrusts the camera down to the ground, before walking off delusional and frustrated. However, Lenny Lane found his way into the match, and his slightly quicker style gave Jerry Lynn the ability to counter and take back control. The British Connection periodically went back to an old school brawl, but eventually when Lane found his way back in, he was cannon fodder as Thrillapalooza unleashed their full arsenal, finally claiming a good win when Billy Kidman landed the staggering Shooting Star Press on Lenny Lane for the win. ----------------------------- Backstage, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper enters the dressing room of the Steiner Brothers. Neither are talking to each other, both are facing opposite walls. "Is that how it is? Is it? TELL ME? IS IT?" Piper implores manaically. "Scott... Rick... I know times are tough. But that's tag team wrestling. That's blood. You know something though, as far as I'm concerned blood is thicker than water. But you know what, gold is thicker again. The fact is you are both good enough to wear the Tag Team Championships again, if you can see the light... Ricky, come on in..." Just then, Ricky Morton from the legendary Rock N' Roll Express walks in. The Steiner brothers instantly look up in respect, almost god like looking at Morton. "You see this man? He got beaten, he got ravaged, he got destroyed, but he kept getting up time and time again. He had heart. He had passion. He had faith in his partner. And that was the crucial part, the faith," Piper alludes. "Deep down, I don't think this animosity is real, its trivial, its nothing. So tonight, I want you to bash your way out of it... But hold on, not together.... against one another! And once you've potatoed each other and come to your senses, lets go and get something that we know is thicker and more precious than blood!" Jushin controlled the tempo of the match well, it was as if he was leading the men through the various spots, and this allowed for some good psychology which otherwise can be slightly redundant in these types of spot fest matches. After 8 minutes of all over the arena action, Jushin went for a brain buster on Psicosis, but Psicosis managed to somehow get Jushin to slip so that Psicosis could come back down on his feet, Psicosis then kicked Lyger to the gut, went into a go behind and suddenly found himself executing a version of Ultimo Dragon's Dragon Sleeper. The Champion gallantly held on for a few seconds, but it was not enough, eventually his arms flapped around and the referee awarded the match to Psicosis! "Yo... Listen to me," Page implores. Bischoff looks up, looking a beaten, disheveled figure. "What? What? WHAT?! What now? For god's sakes Dallas, I've got television executives on my case about tonight's main event from a standards and practices view point, I have our leader missing in action, presumed gone forever, I have Ric Flair on my case, I have the Horsemen feeling confident about War Games... what could you possibly want? Infact, don't answer that, I want you to sit back in our dressing room, and I want you relaxing before War Games... Got it?!" "No, I won't..." "Excuse me?" "Look, I founded the New World Order, Eric. So right here, right now, neighbour, you'll listen to me. You know what I'm missing?" "Integrity...your marbles...?" "Gold. There's a certain piece of gold out there that I am going to go after. Forget War Games, the Outsiders can team with Hennig, I'm the leader of this pack and frankly I deserve an opportunity. Tonight, I'm going to take it. Bada-bing...bada-bang...BADA-BOOM!" But once they lock up, this matches becomes incredibly stiff, incredibly tense. Brotherly dislove in the air. The slaps are real, the emotions are real, the taunts are real. There is nothing planned or scripted, its the school of hard knocks. They both counter each other, knowing each other better than perhaps they know themselves. Finally, after the war that this has become, Rick goes for a flying clothesline, which Scott missed. Scott gets in behind Rick and straddles him, for a new move the commentators coin the Steiner Recliner. He pulls back on the neck with extra punishment, Rick almost refuses to give up, but eventually has to. A barn burnin' brawl from way back when. The booking staff sat back eating marshmallows and sweet apple pie when they watched this being played out, because what they were seeing was so pure, so brutal, so well carried out that it really needed little to no booking wizardry to get it over. This was probably Eddie's finest hour in this reign as WCW Television Champion. It's been fair to say that at times the WCW Television Championship has been defended to a weak level due to the monotonous nature of being on each televised show, but you'd swear this match was as pivotal as a World Heavyweight Championship shot on a Pay-Per-View. Perhaps then the only criticism must be that perhaps these guys have gone well above and beyond the levels required to hold such a midcard Championship. The commentators tried to keep boosting the prestige of the belt, noting for instance that the likes of Arn Anderson had been great Television Champions. This one was just a mutilation of back and forth action. The tempo was ever changing and adapting to the story being told. Eddie tried to speed it up, Raven tried to take him outside and brawl like a scolded cat. There was so many momentum swings, so many near falls, so many counters, and yet throughout both men looked upon each with unique respect yet also despair that their will for the Television Championship gold was being defied by one of the premier talents of their day. Some of the spots in this match were straight out brutality. Both wrestlers demanded leniency from the referee Billy Silverman, and despite his reservations he ended up giving carte blanche to both men. Eddie Guerrero for example placed a steel chair over the prey body of Raven and went for a Frogsplash, but Raven was playing possum and Eddie ended up crashing into the chair and taking all the impact straight to his head. Another spot featured Raven outside the ring gaining a steel crutch from his trolley of weapons, swinging and narrowly missing Eddie, but hitting the steel ring post. The vibrations ran up his hands and had him holding his arm for a minute or so, which Eddie kept wringing and working over. After 9 and a half minutes, the two men found themselves back in the ring. Raven went for an Evenflow, but Eddie twisted out of it, and was able to hit a DDT of his own. Up to the top he went... he came flying down, but again Raven rolled out of the way. Both men laid on the mat, before both staggering to their feet. Raven threw Eddie into the ropes and the two men hit a double clothesline. Their eyes were glazed due to the frenetic nature of the match, and perhaps almost sympathetically the bell rang, signifying the ten minute limit for Television Championship matches... Result: No result due to time limit expiration
Post match, both Raven and the WCW Television Champion Eddie Guerrero stumbled to their feet. They staggered, and tried to catch their balance. But instead of showing respect, they began verbally taunting each other, criticising each other bollistically. Before they realised it though, they were both sitting ducks, as 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page raced into the ring and clotheslined both men. Raven rose first... Diamond Cutter. Up came Guerrero, Diamond Cutter. How cheap is that? Page then picked up the WCW Television Championship, looking lovingly at it, and motioning for it to be around his waist before throwing the Championship on the fallen corpse of the Champion. ------------------------------- Backstage, 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair saw the Giant as he stalked his way towards the gorilla position for his next match. "Hey, you!" Flair called out. The Giant turned and towered over Flair. "You are... an enormous disappointment, pal," Flair said. "You've been getting in the face of Chris Benoit, but brother, you aren't fit to shine his shoes..." Before Flair could continue any further, the Giant thrust Flair by the throat pinning him against the cold brick wall. "... Watch this, Flair," The Giant said sadistically. "Watch me after the break and then you tell me if I'm a disappointment... or someone to be very ...VERY...scared of!" The Giant snarled, before releasing Flair with one final crippling thrust against the wall, before storming out, leaving Flair wide eyed in disbelief at the intensity shown by the Giant.
The Giant v 'Total Package' Lex Luger And after the break, the mere intensity continued. The Giant seemingly no sold every piece of offence that the former two time WCW World Heavyweight Champion could throw at him, before delivering with one swift thrust of the arm the power of the Chokeslam. Result: Your winner, the Giant
Backstage we saw 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit, the United States Champion watching on a small screen the intense power of the Giant. This would be a brutal contest, this would be intensity plus, this would be pure carnage and yet seemingly beautiful magic for a televised main event. Their chemistry continued to emit excellence, and their experience carried that chemistry over and produced an instant classic Monday Nitro match. Such was the relative durability of each man that in the first ten minutes of this 'bout, very few counts got above 3. Both men were responding quickly, even if it meant getting to their feet in a very dangerous, groggy mode giving all momentum over to their opponent. Momentum in this match went in large periods, before tough comebacks could be mounted, and often this meant several stays of execution were handed out as the two wrestlers battled their mortal rights to get back to their feet within the required ten count. After 20 minutes, this match appeared to getting tougher and tougher. The counts were driven out further, reaching 8s, and an in a couple of instances 9s. Both men had delivered their key moves, for Hart the Piledriver, for Sting the Scorpion Death Drop and the Stinger Splash. But both men despite being on death row mentally found in their subconscious the drive to get back to their feet. Finally, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion himself, 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho walked down to ringside with a steel chair. The two men were unbeknowns, and continued to trade sloppy punches in the centre of the ring. Jericho slid in the ring and went to hammer Bret Hart, but Hart ducked what appeared to be a discus lariat from Sting, which meant the chair connected perfectly with the skull of Sting. Jericho looked shocked, and rolled out of the ring. Bret Hart walked to the side of the ring and taunted Jericho, threatening to get him back in the ring himself. What he did not realise is that the count was nearing its end, and before he realised it Sting had been defeated through no action of Bret Hart. Bret almost appeared apologetic, and even asked the referee to restart the match, but Nick Patrick could not, and the match was declared a win for Bret Hart. Result: Your winner, Bret Hart
Backstage, before we cut to black, Buff 'The Stuff' Bagwell was in the office of Eric Bischoff. "Ahaha.. There was a mention of the Rock 'N' Roll Express in the last show by Piper and I can see him doing a skit with the Thrillapalooza!
Thanks, lads, for all your tips ;)
Agreed, Eric always said to make money you have to spend money
Heh, in fairness it was kinda easy for him to say that, given he thought he would always have Billionaire Ted in the background.
Really enjoyed the show mate, i like how you put more detail into the two final matches because they were easily pay per view worthy. I'm interested in what your doing with the Steiners awell. Will they break up or will they come back better than ever with Piper managing them?
Why thanks mate. On the Steiners situation, I want to make what happens interesting... and certainly not obvious. I'm probably trying to give more 'product position' to as much of the midcard as I can by giving them preselected roles, and I think this gives them a nice long standing storyline with a few twists and turns.

My apologies, lads. Made a couple of errors in the 'write up' which I have edited. What I do is book ahead in TEW, and make dot point notes in notepad, and then when I go to write it up I transfer those dot points into Word and build the segments, and then delete the dot points. Heh, I left about three of my amateur dot points in. I hope it reads a bit better now!
