CGC: Two Promotions, One Dream

Recommended Posts

I'm playing a two player game with TAKA (Takayuki Avatar) in charge of All Canadian Pro Wrestling which will act as the unofficial development league for the Grand Avatar led CGC. This means I'll sign promising workers to ACPW first and train them up before signing them up to CGC and releasing them from ACPW. I made them owners of both promotions as well but I will try my best to keep the DeColts involved in CGC :). I've made a few releases and brought in some new people but it's pretty much the same starting roster. One enforced departure is Eric Tyler leaving for SWF which is a major disappointment as I had good plans for him :(. I expect i'll have to get used to the bigger guns stealing people away initially. ACPW will run a monthly one hour show called Wrestlepalooza and I've also upped their starting money to $500k so I can lose money if required with developing workers the priority. I've changed both products to one that I usually use for Sports Entertainment promotions to maintain the development relationship between the two promotions. I'm going to try to maintain kayfabe so there'll be no revealing of dark matches or segments. The first show is written up so I'll be posting that shortly. I plan to keep this diary going for a long time as I've finally worked out a writing style that I'm comfortable with and I hope Dragonmack doesn't mind about some similarities to his CGC diary as I hope it's a homage to a truly great TEW diary :). I think that pretty much covers everything so hope you all enjoy.

Youth Energy in 8:13 by pinfall. Match Rating: D A non-title match to kick off the storyline over the CGC World Tag Team titles between both teams. The Specialists came down to the ring without Adrian Garcia as they're now not part of Elite but remain unofficial members if required. The Specialists hit the Special Delivery on Lee Rivera and as Bobby Thomas makes the cover for the three count, Nate Johnson pushes Rivera's leg off the rope to grab the dubious victory. Trent Shaffer def. Joey Poison in 8:09 by pinfall. Match Rating: C- Adrian Garcia accompanied CGC Canadian champion Trent Shaffer to the ring to show that Shaffer is now a part of Elite. Shaffer makes easy work of Poison as he puts him away with the Heart Burn for the pinfall. Steve DeColt is walking in a corridor backstage when he's suddenly attacked from behind by Dan DaLay. It quickly erupts into a all out brawl as Alex DeColt, Jack DeColt and Ricky DeColt along with Eddie Chandler, Trent Shaffer and Shooter Sean Deeley all join in. The rest of the CGC roster gets involved as they try to pull both factions apart before they completely destroy each other. Rating: B A great brawl to really push how much The DeColts and Elite really hate each other. Ricky DeColt def. Eric Tyler in 10:32 by pinfall. Match Rating: C With Eric Tyler leaving for SWF, this was a good chance to give Ricky a significant win to further his credentials as the CGC World champion. Tyler went for the Tradition Lift but Ricky reversed it into the DeColt .45 for the pinfall and win. Alex DeColt comes out to the ring and says "If Elite think they can jump a DeColt and there'll be no consequences then they're sorely mistaken. You attack one DeColt, you can attack us all and I guarantee that Elite will be made to pay!". Rating: B+ A tremendous promo from Alex to really give the DeColt's feud with Elite some momentum. Jack DeColt def. Eddie Chandler in 14:25 by DQ. Match Rating: B- A very good main event with both men putting on good performances. Jack DeColt is about to go for the End Of Days on Eddie Chandler when Adrian Garcia grabs Jack's leg to stop him and the referee disqualifies Chandler for Garcia's blatant interference. Whippy The Clown def. Sayeed Ali in 7:43 by pinfall. Match Rating: D+ A win to be keep Whippy busy until I work out how best to use him and also the debut of Sayeed Ali who is a very promising brawler. Whippy hits the Joke's On You on Ali for the victory. Hotstuff Marie is out in the parking lot talking with Jack DeColt when a car comes speeding in. The Specialists jump out, grab Marie and bundle her into the back of the car. Trent Shaffer is in the driver's seat and shouts at Jack that his family should learn to keep their mouths shut. The car then speeds off into the night as Jack tries in vain to run after them, shouting Marie's name. Rating: D Alex DeColt def. Shooter Sean Deeley in 11:37 by pinfall. Match Rating: B- A tremendous match with Shooter Sean Deeley more than holding his own against Alex DeColt who puts in a good performance as usual. Sean Deeley goes to hit the German Suplex on Alex but somehow Alex rolls through it and hits the DeColt Driver to take the win. A video is played recapping the war of words and ensuing brawl earlier on between Steve DeColt and Ricky DeColt and Dan DaLay and Eddie Chandler to hype up the upcoming tag main event. Rating: B- Ricky DeColt and Steve DeColt defeated Dan DaLay and Eddie Chandler in 13:34 by pinfall. Match Rating: B- A great main event with Ricky DeColt and Steve DeColt showing some great teamwork but Dan DaLay and Eddie Chandler more than kept up with them in a very tight match. Ricky attempts the DeColt .45 on Chandler, only for Adrian Garcia to distract the referee and DaLay goes for a big boot on Ricky but misses and connects with Chandler's jaw. Steve comes flying in and dropkicks DaLay out of the ring. Ricky then hits the DeColt .45 on Chandler and makes the cover for the three count. George DeColt comes out onto the ramp after the match and he announces that Ricky DeColt will be defending the CGC World title against Eddie Chandler at CGC Elimination. Ricky just smiles and holds the CGC World title in the air as Steve holds his other arm aloft as Chandler, DaLay and Garcia angrily look on. CGC World Tag Team The Specialists © vs. Youth Energy Ed Monton vs. Ryan Powell Jack DeColt vs. Trent Shaffer Alex DeColt vs. Shooter Sean Deeley Dan DaLay vs. Steve DeColt CGC World Ricky DeColt © vs. Eddie Chandler I already know which way I went at this point, although your card looks very similiar to my first one (albeit minus Eric Tyler. I got lucky and managed to keep him.) But I will be following along to see where you take CGC. Oh, and as for a certain segment you had tonight, when you see it on an upcoming show of mine, I swear I thought of it myself and it's just a case of great minds thinking alike! :D

I'm still working out combinations and storylines so went with some obvious matchups initially just to get me started. I really wanted to keep Eric Tyler as someone to help elevate people coming up the card but oh well :(. Considering i've borrowed the style of your diary, I don't think I can complain if you have a similiar segment in one of your upcoming shows :) lol.

CGC World Tag Team The Specialists © vs. Youth Energy They may not be officially "elite" anymore but I htink you'll get a lot of good things with them as heel champions Ed Monton vs. Ryan Powell Monton is really aging, although I played around with bringing back his old tag team partner to train up some of the younger teams. Jack DeColt vs. Trent Shaffer Alex DeColt vs. Shooter Sean Deeley Dan DaLay vs. Steve DeColt DaLay sucks but at least half of the Elite have to win. CGC World Ricky DeColt © vs. Eddie Chandler A lot of people take the belt off Ricky I want to see what you do if you leave it on him.

CGC Elimination Friday, Week 3, January 2008 Location: Kamloops Royal Athletic Park (British Columbia, Canada) Attendance: 15,000 LIVE! on Pay Per View on Canada 1-Choice The show kicks off with George DeColt in the ring. George thanks the fans and everyone watching at home and he says he's looking forward to his sons putting Elite in their place tonight. Rating: B+ Your standard opening promo from George to bring the crowd's mood up and to also add a little emotion with him wanting his sons to defeat Elite tonight. The Specialists def. Youth Energy in 13:21 by pinfall. The Specialists make defence number 1 of their CGC World Tag Team titles. Match Rating: D A decent match between the two teams but really need to build up some new teams to help build up the ratings for tag bouts. The Specialists take the win with the Special Delivery on Shane Nelson to take the surprisingly clean pinfall and retain. Ryan Powell def. Ed Monton in 15:48 by pinfall. Match Rating: C- The promising Ryan Powell came up against the veteran experience of Ed Monton in a decent match. Powell takes the win with the Star Treatment on Monton and rolls him up with the help of the tights to grab victory. Jack DeColt def. Trent Shaffer in 18:55 by DQ. Match Rating: B- After the kidnap of Hotstuff Marie, Jack DeColt dispensed with technical wrestling of any kind and just looked to batter Trent Shaffer throughout the match. In the end, Jack DeColt won by DQ after Shaffer resorted to using a steel chair to stop the rampage from Jack. Shaffer runs off into the crowd as Jack somehow shrugs off the chairshot like it never happened and chases after him after the match is over. Jack and Shaffer put together a hard hitting, brutal match which the fans really seemed into. Zeus Maxmillion struts down to the ring with his usual arrogant swagger. Zeus demands a microphone and says "I am the Greek God and since there's no competition in this outback of a promotion, I'm making a open challenge. So if there's anyone with delusions of being able to beat me, get out here so I, the Greek God, can prove once again just why I am a wrestling god!". Rating: D- A nice promo from Zeus to further his Greek God persona. Suddenly jungle noises are played and Zeus starts to look extremely worried as it can only mean one man. Jungle Jack comes out holding a banana shaped microphone and after trying and failing to eat it, he says in broken English "Jack like wrestle, Jack like nanas, George pay Jack plenty of nanas, Zeus want fight, Zeus will get fight!...". Jack sprints down to the ring and it looks like the match is on as he unloads on Zeus with lefts and rights. Rating: E+ The fans didn't react as well as I thought but I know Jack can do good things in CGC. Jungle Jack def. Zeus Maxmillion in 7:38 by pinfall. Match Rating: D The debut of Jungle Jack comes off really well as Zeus Maxmillion never recovers from the shock of Jack accepting his challenge. Jungle Jack hits the Jungle Jack-Jammer on Zeus for the three count and debut victory. A great way to introduce Jack with a debut win over Zeus but that's just the start of a potentially decent feud between them. A determined looking Alex DeColt is backstage as he says "Shooter Sean Deeley, I can respect your wrestling ability and wrestling background but the respect you and your group demand is not taken, it's earnt!. When it's all said and done tonight, my family will show you exactly how we've earnt our respect over the years and that's inside the squared circle". Rating: B+ Alex hits the spot as he really puts over Deeley's credentials but then hits back about the lack of respect shown to him and his family. Alex DeColt def. Shooter Sean Deeley in 23:44. Match Rating: B- A match packed full of outstanding mat wrestling as both Alex DeColt and Shooter Sean Deeley really take each other to their limits. Alex eventually proves too strong though for Deeley as he hits the DeColt Driver for the win. Not as good as their previous match but Alex is bringing the best out of Deeley at the moment which will hopefully elevate Deeley to the next level. Steve DeColt is looking in a intense mood backstage as he says "DaLay, your group think they can push their weight around and not face the consequences. Believe me when I say that you don't even want to think about what your actions will bring about but I can guarantee that the DeColts will be standing tall by the end of tonight!". Rating: B+ Battling Alex for promo of the night, Steve does a great job to really push home the battle between his family and Elite. Jerome Turner, Farrah Hesketh and Roger Rogers hype up the upcoming match between Dan DaLay and Steve DeColt. Rating: B- The announcers do a good job of keeping the hype up for the Steve and DaLay match coming up. Dan DaLay def. Steve DeColt in 21:38 by pinfall. Match Rating: B A tremendous match as Dan DaLay surprisingly kept up with Steve throughout the match. Both men hit nearly every major move they know but neither could put each other away until the distraction of Steve by Adrian Garcia jumping up on the apron, only to be met by a right hand from Steve sending him spiralling to the outside. Unfortunately that gave DaLay the chance to hit the DaLay Down as Steve turned round and cover him for the three count. After Jack and Alex win their matches, Dalay restores some pride for Elite by taking down Steve in a very good match. Eddie Chandler is stood backstage, flanked by Adrian Garcia. Chandler states “Tonight will be a glorious moment in the history of Elite when I defeat Ricky DeColt and become the new CGC World champion!". Garcia continues “This man will cement himself as the greatest CGC World champion ever seen in CGC and that is just the start of things to come”. Chandler finishes by saying “Tonight, I take my rightful place at the top of CGC!”. Rating: B A good promo to put over the arrogance of Eddie Chandler. Ricky DeColt is stood in the locker room backstage with the CGC World title draped across his shoulder. Ricky warns Eddie Chandler as he says to the camera "Eddie, you talk about defeating me as if it's a foregone conclusion. Well i've got news for you as i've faced many obstacles in my career, met them head on and come through them. Tonight, I will prove that I am a more than worthy champion after I hit the DeColt .45 and pin your shoulders to the mat for the three count!". Rating: C+ Ricky does an ok promo but he's still struggling with his confidence which can bring his segments down, despite being the CGC World champion which can be more pressure than he needs sometimes. Jerome Turner, Farrah Hesketh and Roger Rogers hype up the CGC World title main event match between Ricky DeColt and Eddie Chandler. Rating: C+ The announcers do a good job of putting over Ricky and Eddie before their main event title match for the CGC World Title. Eddie Chandler def. Ricky DeColt in 28:04 by submission. Eddie Chandler wins the CGC World title. Match Rating: B A title match full of twists and turns as Eddie Chandler kept Ricky tied up with some impressive counters and submission holds but Ricky showed the talent running through his blood as he kept coming back against Chandler move for move. Ricky looks like retaining when he hits the DeColt .45 out of the blue but somehow Chandler kicks out just before the referee's hand came down for the three count. Chandler fires back with the Elitist Plex on Ricky but Ricky also kicks out just before the three count. The end of the match gets pretty chaotic as both men counter each other until Chandler reaches into his trunks, appears to pull something out and then connects with a right hand on Ricky, who hits the mat pretty hard as he looks pretty dazed. Chandler puts back what he retrieved from his trunks as Adrian Garcia distracts the referee momentarily, locks on the Fabulous Stretch and the referee quickly rings the bell as Ricky looks like he's unconcious and unable to respond. Garcia grabs the CGC World title, jumps into the ring and puts it around the waist of the new champion Eddie Chandler, who hands Garcia what appear to be brass knuckles and they both smile to each other. They then celebrate the victory as the referee checks on Ricky who's slumped on his back, out cold on the mat. Ricky's popularity and card position not being main event level just yet made it a difficult choice to put the title on Chandler but that doesn't mean he's out of the title picture altogether. I'm hoping for big things from Chandler as the CGC World champion. Overall Show Rating: B PPV Buyrate: 0.28

I've worked out that running two promotions is too much so i've restarted with CGC only but ran the three shows as I did them last time so it's exactly the same point in time. The only difference is that Eric Tyler hasn't jumped to SWF so not sure whether to just continue this thread or do a new one as it's not two promotions, one dream anymore lol :). What do you all reckon I should do?.

Match Rating: D Lee Rivera picks up a second consecutive victory for Youth Energy in two weeks over both members of The Specialists in a decent encounter up against Nate Johnson. Rivera picks up the win with the Daredevil Drop on Johnson for the pinfall. Eric Tyler and Ryan Powell def. Ed Monton and Whippy The Clown in 7:44 when Eric Tyler defeated Whippy The Clown by submission with a Tradition Lift. Match Rating: C- A good tag team match with both teams working surprisingly well together. In the end, Eric Tyler picks up the win for his team as he made Whippy tap out with the Tradition Lift. Alex DeColt and Steve DeColt are both in the ring looking like they've something to say. Alex says that Elite are living on borrowed time and that the DeColt family has faced many obstacles over the years but always come out on top. Steve adds that it's only a matter of time before the tides turn in their favour against Elite and the DeColts once again show the resilience that runs through their veins. Rating: B Dan DaLay def. Jack DeColt in 10:14 by pinfall with a DaLay Down. Match Rating: B Both men seemed to bring the best out of each other in a very good match. The deciding factor turned out to be Adrian Garcia once again as his distraction at a vital moment gave DaLay the chance to go for and hit the DaLay Down on Jack to get the three count and the impressive win. After the match, Trent Shaffer comes out and taunts Jack DeColt that Marie is unharmed and safe but only as long as Jack doesn't do anything stupid to change that. Jack fires back that he will make Shaffer pay for what he's done and challenges him to a match at CGC Luck Of The Draw. Shaffer tells Jack that he holds all the cards, not him and that he'll never step into the ring with him. Rating: C+ CGC World (Steel Cage) Eddie Chandler def. Ricky DeColt in 12:59 when Eddie Chandler escaped the cage. Match Rating: B- Eddie Chandler and Ricky DeColt put together a great cage match full of close escapes. Both men were on the top of the cage towards the end when Ricky pushed Chandler back down to the ring and Ricky attempted a hugely risky DeColt .45 off the top of the cage but Chandler moved out of the way just in time, sending Ricky crashing down to the mat. With Ricky totally out of it, Eddie crawled to the cage door which Adrian Garcia had opened and falls to the outside to retain the CGC World title. Ricky DeColt is being checked on by the referee after the match when suddenly the lights go out. When they come back on, Ricky is flat on his back in the middle of the ring with a Canadian flag draped over him. Great show write ups man,I've enjoyed all of them, and learnign alot. i think the biggest thing i'm realizing is I book FAR to much on the TV shows via short segments. Like you told me, i really need to stick to one or to longer segments with the decolts/elite, and just have matches to move the mid carder storylines. If you look at my TV shows, im trying to give everyone an post match attack/ air time. thats got to stop me thinks. Ive also enjoyed that we've signed some of the same people (i have newton and jett as well) seems like we have a similar eye for talent. And, its a bit sad (but absolutly nessacary) that Ricky is doomed to lose The Title in all Three of our dynasty threads so far hehe. poor ricky, at least he gets to hold it till wrestle fest in mine heh. Great reads man, and thanks for the advice in mine, keep chiming in, I'd do the same, but I'm still trying to figure out which way is up in this buissness ;) also, marie is doomed in my fed too, though by a diffrent person, at least here abuductor changes if not her plight!

I try to stick to 7/8 segments including matches on the TV show but thinking of expanding from 1hr to 2hrs as I've got plenty of ideas that I want to try out. Using the DeColts and Elite to begin with is a good starting point as it gives you the time to build up and use different people to flesh out the promotion. Ricky will probably become CGC World champion again but he just needs some building up popularity wise and also in psychology and basics so he can carry his matches properly. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your CGC diary as I'm interested to see what you can do :).

I suggest moving to 1.5 hrs instead of two as otherwise you have a lot of time to fill with bottom rungers that can only hurt your tv grade. At least that is what I did. You may have a better lower card than i did initially as I didn't make any roster changes other than replacing people I couldn't re-sign due to owner goals initially.

yea i'm sticking to the hour shows, with my new "less is more" mentality. I tended to do alot of like, 3-6 minute segements for the lower rung guys. that was a mistake. Going to try out ben's sugestion of 7-8 thigns a show, i was doing 12-13. when my deal comes up in 6 shows, i'll probley go to an hour and a half.

Match Rating: D+ A good title defence for Trent Shaffer against Joey Poison. Shaffer puts Poison away with the Heart Burn to win and retain the title. Trent Shaffer climbs out of the ring after the match and is about to pick up his CGC Canadian title when Jack DeColt comes flying over the crowd barrier and tackles Shaffer to the ground. Garcia looks straight at the camera and says that DaLay is the man beast who lives for dismantling and destroying anyone that gets in his path. Garcia says that DaLay will win tonight and will relinquish his number one contendership to stop the DeColts from receiving any title matches against the Elite leader, Eddie Chandler. DaLay approaches the camera and says that tonight, he will enjoy tearing Alex and Steve apart. Rating: B- Eric Tyler def. Ed Monton in 13:34 by submission with a Tradition lift. Match Rating: C- Not as good as expected with both Eric Tyler and Ed Monton being extremely capable technicians in the ring, hopefully it's not age catching up with them. The end of the match comes when a mysterious woman appears and distracts Monton long enough for Tyler to lock on the Tradition Lift for the win by submission. Eric Tyler shakes hands with the woman that helped him defeat Ed Monton and he hands her a microphone. The woman introduces herself as the executive consultant Kristen Pearce and says that she is now managing the biggest asset in CGC today, Eric Tyler. Rating: D+ Alex DeColt is backstage and he says that tonight, he will become the number one contender and he will then go on to beat Eddie Chandler to once again be the CGC World champion. Rating: B Alex DeColt def. Dan DaLay and Steve DeColt in 22:08 when Alex DeColt defeated Dan DaLay by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating: B- A good main event as Alex and Steve teamed up on Dan DaLay throughout most of the match, although that all went out of the window when Alex and Steve broke up each other's pin attempts on DaLay and it quickly descended into arguments, shoving and then both brothers fighting each other. Towards the end of the match, DaLay hit the DaLay Down on Steve but before he could make the cover, he turned straight into Alex's DeColt Driver and the referee counted the three for the pinfall and the number one contendership. Alex DeColt is in the ring celebrating becoming the new number one contender for the CGC World title when the lights suddenly go out again. When the lights return, Alex is on his back in the middle of the ring with a Canadian flag draped over him in an attack that's eerily identical to what happened to Ricky last week. Rating: B+ Overall Show Rating: C+ TV Rating: 0.59 Bit disappointed in the final rating which was let down by the main event which I expected a B at worst from but overall the show come off well, with several feud progressions. After talking to Maple Leaf Sports, Title Bout Wrestling now runs for 90mins which should allow us to build and use people more effectively. Interest in the mystery attacks on Ricky and Alex two weeks in a row is starting to build and I'm confident that it'll help propel us along nicely if it plays out like I think it will. Eric Tyler cracked his tailbone in his match with Ed Monton after a awkward landing from a backdrop by Monton but Tyler is working through it so my plans for him alongside Kristen Pearce won't have to change. A stern warning to Francis Long was needed after he played a prank on George Decolt after the show, Long seemed to take it on board to not do it again thankfully.

The Special Delivery on Morgan got the three count and pinfall. Garcia tells Chandler and DaLay that they can strike a fatal blow tonight to Alex DeColt and Steve DeColt by defeating them. Chandler says it'll be a piece of cake as no-one can deal with the technical prowess of him, combined with the raw power of the man beast. DaLay just simply says that he will enjoy the destruction of Alex and Steve tonight. Rating: B- Jack DeColt def. Ryan Powell in 11:31 by submission with an End Of Days. Match Rating: C Ryan Powell puts up a good fight but a very determined Jack DeColt won with his End Of Days submission hold to make a point to Trent Shaffer. As Jack DeColt is walking up the entrance ramp after the match, Trent Shaffer sneak attacks Jack from behind. Trent lays into Jack then suddenly hits a DDT on the metal ramp, leaving him unconcious face down. Paramedics rush out to check on Jack as Shaffer saunters down to the ring. He grabs a microphone and warns Jack that running to his daddy was a serious error of judgment and one that he will be made to pay for in their no DQ match at CGC Luck Of The Draw. Rating: C+ Steve DeColt is getting ready for the tag main event match when Alex DeColt walks in. Match Rating: B A tremendous main event tag match as all four men show why they're the top performers in CGC. A pretty chaotic end of the match sees DaLay taken out by Steve and Alex somehow reversing an Elitist Plex attempt from Chandler into the DeColt Driver for the huge victory going into CGC Luck Of The Draw. Alex DeColt and Steve DeColt are celebrating their victory when Eddie Chandler and Dan DaLay attack them from behind.
