World Wide Wrestling Federation

"The Story of Toots Mondt"

Toots Mondt was a degenerate gambler, he died without a cent to his name, but he is instrumnetal in the rise of one of the biggest wrestling empires in history... You see, Toots Mondt was a wrestling promoter in New York City, he formed a wrestling company that was based out of New York City called Capital Wrestling Corporation... Having been a wrestler himself, Mondt took on a boxing promoter in New York City as his partner in this wrestling company.. That mans name was Vincent J. McMahon... The two eventually seceeded from The NWA back in 1963... The two would form a partnership that would own the the New York Wrestling scene and promote in the world's most famous arena: Madison Square Garden. That company ended up changing their name to the World Wide Wrestling Federation. ...Eventually Vince McMahon would buy out his degenerate partner Toots, but Toots had some rich friends which McmMahon became familiar with. One such friend was multi-millionaire Bernard McFadden...

McFadden was the man who help front the money to Toots and provided the opportunity to run MSG... Vince became close with McFadden as he needed his help running New York... Vince would eventually buy out his partner Toots but he maintained his relationship with McFadden and his deep pockets...

What does all this mean? The answer to that question was back in 1982 Vince senior was contemplating getting out of the wrestling business. He was getting older (late 60's) and his son Vincent K. McMahon had expressed an interest in buying the company from his father... The elder McMahon wanted assurance from his son that he wouldn't step on the toes of the many wrestling promoters around the country.. But the younger McMahon was all about revolutionizing and expanding his footprint across America... This upset the elder McMahon and instead of just selling his company to his son, the elder McMahon was presented with an offer to keep the World Wrestling Federation right in the heart of the big apple. You see Vince McMahon believed about staying in your region and not promoting in the backyards of others... He decided not to sell his company to his son, but rather to the family of Bernard McFadden... You might ask what does this have to do with anything, well Bernard had a son, and that son is my father and in 1982 our family became owners of the WWF...

o.o.c.

The following diary is based on D.Boon's Ghost wonderful Mod "Death of the Territories" which has been edited and re-released by djthefunkchris and tweaked by myself to see the growth of the WWF and how the wrestling world would shape up without Vince McMahon or Hulkamania running wild in the Northeast...

We haven't seen the last of Vincent K. McMahon, either as he sits back and begins building his empire and gets ready to launch the WWE sometime in the mid to late 80's

Patterson joke about the alliteration in the names of Brian Blair and Bob Bradley and that maybe we have a couple of Killer bees challenging here in this non-title matchup...Monsoon right from the start doesn't like their chances against the most vicious team in wrestling... Monsoon was correct s The Samoans just viciously dismantled the team of Blair and Bradley... Ending it after Afa hit a "samoan drop" on Bradley for the victory... The Samoans continued to viciously attack their opponents after the match as Sika just jammed his bair foot into Blair's face and Afa bit away at the forehead of Bradley.

PWI Weekly: A look behind the scenes of what is going on in the wrestling world

WWWF: The new ownership group of the World Wide Wrestling Federation is now in place and as of now looks that it will just stay the course that was being run by Vince J. McMahon... However several small changes have been made recently... Longtime WWWF veterans Ernie Roth (Grand Wizard of Wrestling), Arnold Skaaland, have excepted their release from the WWWF... In addition Mr. Fuji is hanging up his tights and recently has applied or a manager's liscence... As of press time it looks as if Fuji will take over managerial duties of his long time confidant Don Muraco...

There was some speculation that the new owners would re-brand themselves and vacate the current title situations, but a statement from the new ownership group has been made, annoucing that we feel no need to change our name, our image, our champions because the WWWF has a strong following among its supporters and that business will go on as usual... However our reporters have found out that business is not going on as usual as the WWWF has entered into negotiations with some of wrestlings premier superstars... As of press time it seems that negotiations were ongoing with Jesse Ventura, Paul Orndorff, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes as well as several others...

The WWWF has booked up their events for the next year... The last Saturday ofevery month will be a big card at Madison Square Garden... The WWWF has also booked The Boston Garden on the 3rd Saturday of every week, 8 times over the next year and has booked The Philadelphia Spectrum on the 2nd Saturday of every the month, 8 times as well... The WWWF will continue to run their Tuesday Night Titans on the USA network... That contract has 20 weeks remaining and their Saturday Morning sydicated program WWWF All Star wrestling will continued to be used to promote upcoming big events...

Current upcoming WWWF Schedule:

April: 2nd Saturday: The Spectrum Philadelphia, PA

April: 4th Saturday: Madison Square Garden New York, NY

As an fan of the territories and the 80's wrestling scene, I must say I'm IN LOVE with the dynasty. It's so close to how they were legit booked. Any dynasty with Sweede Hanson booked legitmatly makes me so happy. And I marked like a kid when u put in the Capetta next card announcement. So awesome. Keep up the great work sir.

PWI Weekly

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d43/cpevans31/PWI.jpg

Pro Wrestling Illustrated Weekly: A look behind the scenes of the wrestling world.

WWWF: Ran their first big card under the new ownership group... Sources tell us they were alittle disapointed with the outcome as fans are suggesting the show may actually hurt their popularity... Only 12,715 were in attendance at The Spectrum in Philadelphia... However it will just be 2 short weeks before they're back at it in the TriState area with a big show at Madison Square Garden headlined by Bob Backlund vs Magnificent Muraco..

After the initial reports we recieved that the WWWF was not going to mke many changes to its roster they in actuality have added many workers up and down their card... Gene Okerlund debuted as a new announcer on TNT.. Rick Martel and Paul Orndorff the biggest names both made an appearance last Saturday in Philly and we are hearing quite a few more maybe coming..

We are also hearing that the WWWF may be parting ways with some established veterans... We can only speculate the names now, but hope to have more news next week.

MAPLE LEAF WRESTLING: Has been going strong after some big names in the wrestling world... Roddy Piper, Adrian Adonis, Greg Valentine have all signed on with MLW recently... They we're also in negotiations with Ted Dibiase, but he has turned them down... Roddy Piper this week won the NWA Canadian Championship defeating Raymond Rougeau.

MACW: Bad news for MACW as WTBS is not happy with the ratings for its wrestling programs and is contemplating ending its run of televised pro wrestling on Saturday Nights... Obviously that also spells bad news for Georgia Championship Wrestling as well, as the network looks to perhaps take their network in another direction... The reign of Jay Youngblood & Ricky Steamboat as NWA Tag Team champions came to an end this week as they were defeated by the intriguing combination of Jos Leduc & Terry Funk... Speculation is that Steamboat may have already been negotiating with the WWWF

HOUSTON CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING: Owned by Roy Shire as he takes over in Paul Boesch's old territory, has begun building its roster this week inking "The Magnificent " Muraco to a conract as well as "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer... our guess is the group also must have plans to get on television rather quickly, after the signing of Gordan Solie.

Thanks I appreciate it.... I think you really have to have been there in the 80's to appreciate a simpler style of wrestling, in which the wrestlers really knew how to work over a crowd and tell a story with the simplest manuevers...

The ring announcers, announcing next month's card was always exciting for me and I thought that'd be a nice retro touch.

Gidday mate, am reading along with this one. Very interesting take, no Hulk Hogan is one thing, no Vinnie Mac Jr another thing altogether. I wonder what JCP would have done without Vince McMahon Jr going on the nationalisation process, whether JCP has enough foresight to grow beyond the allowed boundaries of the NWA out of the Mid Atlantic.

This will be different for sure, there's a lot of good wrestlers and a mixture of guys who probably didn't take off who Vince McMahon Sr was fairly loyal to that VKM was not so. Am particularly looking forward to how you manage the popularity of Andre the Giant, I was a big big fan of the legendary Giant.
