Martel is sent into the ropes and hits a sunset flip on to Sika... Sika doesn't fall, but instead goes to drop a big but splash onto Martel, but Martel moves and somersaults over to tag in Andre... Andre chops away at Sika, then Afa comes in and he is flipped outside the ring.... Andre scoops up Sika and delivers a thunderous body slam... Andre goes to bounce off the ropes, but Iaukea and Albano pull the ropes so that Andre falls into and gets his arms tangled and tied into the ropes... Martel slaps Andre's back to tag himself in and jumps over and has a right for Sika, then one for Afa, then one for Sika, then one for Afa, then Sika, then Afa, then Sika, then Afa, Sika, Afa, Sika, Afa, Sika, Afa, Sika, Afa... PWI Illustrated: May: Week 4

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d43/cpevans31/PWI.jpg

A slow week around the wrestlng scene:

WWWF: Just completed their second event since going under new ownership and drew a disapointing 3,600+ to the Garden... The overall card was headlinded by a Muraco vs Backlund world title match that went to a no-contest... Sgt. Slaughter top Jimmy Snuka inside a steel cage and The Samoan's defend their WWWF Tag Team titles against Andre the Giant & Rick Martel... The WWWF was set to re-shape the format of TNT on USA,but those plans were put on the backburner following the breakdown in negotiations of one of the talents they needed to pull off the new format... The WWWF has released several talents following Saturday Night's Madison Square Garden Card... Chief Jay Strongbow, The Invader's and Mil Mascaras were all given their release.

AWA: Continues their hot streak and may pass the WWWF in terms of popularity at any moment... Nick Bockwinkle remains champion, after another great title defense against Greg Gagne... Now we are hearing reports that the AWA, may be looking at signing away a major name star, that would be a huge blow to the WWWF

GCW: Are trying to get their feet back under them after a crushing loss of losing their television programming on WTBS... Hulk Hogan is on board, but yet to appear.. Terry Gordy also just recently signed and Tommy Rich and Ole Anderson just captured the vacant Georgia National Tag Team Titles.

HCW: Things are also heating up in Houston where Jay Youngblood recently captured the HC Global Heavyweight Championship... Manny Fernandez, Gino Hernandez, Dick Slater, Tommy Rich have been putting on great shows as of late in the Lonestar state.

WWWF Behind The Scenes

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE WWWF

This is a quick out of character behind the scenes look at WWWF

2 1/2 Months into the New Owner's regime of the WWWF

Finances

April: We did well earning $180,725 in revenue

May: We lost #38,791

June: (So Far) We've lost $25,126

Where its going: Obviously we probably overspend for the arena's that we are using , but we think it is important for our product ot becomes synonymous with these facilities.. Madison Square Garden, The Boston Garden and Philadelphia Spectrum all are quite expensive to book

Too Many wrestlers on our roster... We have way more workers than necessary, but feel its important to keep churning the bottom of the roster, so fans dont get tired of see-ing the same enhancement talents and openers... Some of these talents also only work in the region that they have some popularity... ex. (Pete Dorherty in Boston, Rene Goulet in Ontario, SD Jones in Philadelphia).... Attendance has really dropped lately in the Tri-State area as well, which only hurts our cause

TALENT

Even considering we are way overstaffed with workers, the majority of the workers seem happy... Bruno Sammartino has shown some displeasure at how often he is being used... Others such as Mil Mascaras and Cheif Jay Strongbow were recently let go... Invader #1 had irritated some workers with a prank, leading us to give them their release as well... Rocky Johnson has been upset at the amount of losses he has taken lately, but that was part of a storyline..

We continue to look to add new talent... Dino Bravo brings us another worker with some popularity in Canada as we continue to try and increase our popularity north of the border... Talent signed by the new regime in recent months has been Blackjack Mulligan who is involved in a program with Superstar Billy Graham... Paul Orndorff, who currently is in a storyline of being the biggest free agent in the WWWF and has yet to be pinned since arriving.... Greg Valentine and Ricky Steamboat both are slowly building some momentum and figure to get involved with title scene and work their way up the card in forth coming months... Managers Jimmy Hart, Johnny Valiant and King Curtis Iaukea have all begun working with wrestlers over the last month and a half

Still looking to add some talent and have to continue to fight off raids from other prootions... A couple of big name talents have been approached by the AWA who we are at war with, It is not WWWF policy to discuss on-going negotiations of current wrestlers signed by the WWWF... We also lost out on some other talent, recently... Jesse Ventura turned us down after we felt his demands were just to much, to give into, in order to bring him to the WWWF... Tony Parisi, Mike Rotundo, Barry Windham have turned down numerous opportunities to even negotiate with the WWWF.

Television

TNT continues to be live every Tueday on USA... We will look into changing up the format of that show in future negotiations which will begin in August... We have seen ratings range from. 24 to .32 for TNT. All Star Wrestling is taped on Wednesday Night and aired Saturday Mornings nationwide via syndicated networks... All Star wrestling is used mostly to put over wrestlers that are set to appear on up-coming big event shows... Ratings are generally around .16 for All Star Wrestling..

Upcoming Schedule:

For the month of June we have just 2 big events... Week 3 in Boston, Massachussets and week 4 in New York, New York at Boston Garden and Madison Square Garden respectively

For the months of July and August the WWWF will not run in the Boston Garden (there is no AC in that building, so the temperature inside can be unbearable...However we will have shows at The Philadelphia Spectrum and Madison Square Garden both months... We will be in Philly on week 2 and New York on week 4.

Competiton:

Nick Bockwinkle and the AWA are kicking our butts, lately... GCW and MACW have taken a back seat recently especially due to them osing their national TV contract... We had approach Maple Leaf Wrestling about becoming our developmental territory, but they are outdrawing us in Canada, so why should they...

WWWF World Heavyweight Champion: Bob Backlund beat "The Upredictable" Johnny Rodz 10:30 The match started out as a true scientific matchup, in which Bob Backlund just completely outshined Johnny Rodz, but Rodz took over with a eye rake and a low blow... BAcklund monkey flipped Rodz out of orner and firemen carried him in the center of the ring several times before locking in a cross faced chicken wing at the ten and a half minute mark and getting the submission victory RATED: C-

After the match Gorilla Monsoon grabbed Bob Backlund at ringside and talks about the champ has a tough road ahead of him... Backlund, "Well coming up in a couple of weeks The Magnificent Muraco and I are in a steel cage match, and I vow to finally put Mr. Muraco away as I unfortunately have yet to be able to...... Slaughter, "Backlund you puke, you dont need to worry because that match with Muraco in New York City will be my first title defenseafter a whip your butt from corner to corner in Boston, Massachussets the week before that... Sgt. Slaughter w/ "Classy" Freddie Blassie beat Abe Jacobs

Slaughter made short work of the veteran Jacobs... He just tossed him around the ring like a rag doll... Slaughter hit a running cannon clotheline on Jacobs while he was prone up against the turnbuckle... Slaughter hit another powerful clotheline in the center of the ring and covered for 2 1/2, but the only reason it wasn't a three count was because he lifted Jacobs shoulders off the mat then applied the Cobra Clutch to an already unconscious Jacobs.... "Polish Power" Ivan Putski & Pedro Morales beat Charlie Fultan & Tiger Chung Lee Monsoon and Okerlund put over these two as two legends in the WWWF and while we may not see them contend for the world title, their experience, their spirit, their desire for one last run, would make them excellent challengers to The Wild Samoans World Tag Team Titles... Putski and Morales just completely out smart Chung Lee and Fultan... They tag in when their opponents cant see the tag. And sometimes they even tag in without tagging, instead Putski and Morales ust clap their hands like it was a tag and enter...Fultan is hit with a Polish hammer then walks right into a Morales atomic back breaker for the 1...2...3..... Greg "The Hammer" Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart beat "Quick Draw" Rick McGraw 9:15 Valentine entered the ring wearing an "I Crippled Sammartino" T-shirt... Okerlund states he may want to specify which Sammartino he crippled, because the audience might be confused... Monsoon adds, "I'm sure that's what the Hammer is wanting people to think and we still haven't even had report on David Sammartino... (A highlight clip of Valentine wrenching in the figure four last week on David Sammartino is shown, and then David being carried out is follow) McGraw takes the offense right to Valentine with several shoulderblocks, then a dropkick, which sends Valentine to the outside for a short walk... Valentine shoulderblocks McGraw from the apron andthen dumps him to the floor where he slams him on the concrete... Jimmy Hart comes over to taunt Quick Draw with his heckling through the mega-phone... Valentine drops a crushing forearm over the wide open chest of McGraw, then Valetine goes to work on his leg... He wraps it around the ring post a couple of times, He drives his knee into the inside of the knee of McGraw... The Hammer stomps away on the knee of Mcgraw, and then drapes his leg over the second rope and the leaps up and crashes down with all his weight on the leg of McGraw... It's then figure four time and McGraw fights it almost turns him over but Valentine wrenches in harder and pulls him back into the center of the ring where McGraw submits.... RATED: D

After having his hand raised in victory, Valentine re-applies the figure four leglock and Jimmy Hart jumps in the way of referee Joey Marella... After a minute McGraw seems to pass out from the pain, Bruno Sammartino runs down to ringside, pulls off his shirt and is ready to fight... Valentine heads for the locker room pointing at his "I crippled Sammartino T-Shirt" and laughing ... Bruno grabs the mic and states how David has torn all his ligaments in his knee and will bne out for an indefinate period of time...and that if Valentne doesn't watch it, that he lace up his boots once again to put an end to Valentine's nonsense RATED: D+

Lyons responds, "well they've disbanded." Albano responds, "Thats correct, right after we destroyed them, they went on a terrible losing streak, never to win another match... What about the Moondogs, has anyone seen them since we beat them into a bloody mess last month in Boston...and you know what, we beat Martel and Andre last month in New York, So what do we have to worry about...French Connection, Dino Bravo please... Sharpe insists on starting the match, as it seems like he and Tiger Chung are not on the same page... Sharpe runs at McGraw who hits him with a hiptoss and a dropkick... Lee enters and is met with a hip toss and a dropkick as well... Then McGhee comes in and the Dynamite Express hit simultaneous bodyslams followed by dropkicks that send their opponents scurrying to the floor... Sharpe will take over as he loads up his armbrace and drops a thunderous forearm across McGhee once back in the ring.... Chung Lee adds a thrust to the throat for a 2 count... I really like the Bruno Sammartino/Hammer feud it seems like something that could have really happened back then. You know what might be cool, maybe bring in Johnny Valentine and have him and Greg take on Bruno and David.

Anyways keep up the good work.

I've put him out of commision, I've put him on the shelf and now it's my turn to get a crack at he low-life maggot Bob Backlund... That gomer pyle wannabe cant even carry my bags, heck he cant even pin Don Muraco a big lazy hawaiin, who's more focused on surfing and volcanoe's than he is the world's title... If he cant beat Muraco, do you really think he can beat me Gene, the man who sent Jimmy Snuka back to whatever rat infested island he's from with his tail between his legs... Do you Gene, do you... Backlund tonight to the title is mine.... RATED: B-

"Superstar" Billy Graham beat Steve Travis 3:58 Graham takes longer to remove his tie died t-shirt and sunglasses then he takes to dispose of Travis catching Travis in a bear hug and just throwinghim around whipping his head back and forth while in that bear hug until Travis submits RATED: D

EVENT CENTER w/ Gene Okerlund: Gene welcomes in commisioner Bruno Sammartino, who has announced the signing of a new special enforcer referee... With all these hooligans running around like Greg Valentine, The Samoans, Billy Graham, Magnificent Muraco... I think we need to add an official that will not take any crap, that wont be afraid to stick his nose in the middle of things.... So I'd like to wlcome the newest official here in the WWWF SWEDE HANSON... RATED: D+

Rick Martel & Dino Bravo beat Terry Gibbs & Bob Bradley 4:32 Patterson talks about what great chemistry this team has shown since heir debut as a team just a few short weeks ago... We've dismantles The Soul Patrol, de-masked The Invader's, demoslished The Moondogs, and now the best you can come up with is This French Connection Martel & Bravo and I'm supposed to be worried." Okerlund, responds "What about Andre in their corner?" Thats because you know I can beat you, you know I have beat you, You know I will beat you once again, right in the center of that ring tonight...I'll prove to you who the man is Greg Valentine once again, and anytime in the future you want to get in the ring with me brother.. Graham mentions how Sheiks pointed boots should be outlawed as they are a weapon... A gut wrench suplex, followed by a double arm under hook suplex, weakened Bellomo enough for the Sheik to apply the Camel Clutch for the submission... Six foot seven, 320 pounds of mean and nasty, and Superstar Billy Graham with your tan and your muscles, and your tie-died shirts, I am not in awe of any man , so I certainly am not in awe of you son.... I am afraid of no man alive... So you want one last chance at glory, you want one last chance in the limelight before you fade off into the sunset... And you want to do it at my expense, well brother, your barking up the wrong tree as you have woken the big nasty in Blackjack Mulligan and its about to go down tonight in Boston. RATED: C-

<p>Excellent diary,I really like the way you are booking;getting maximum mileage out of the roster you started with(for the most part) without going on any insane signing sprees (a la a certain VKM....),it's nice to see different people in the spotlight and it makes your work stand out.As well you feuds and matches are all very clean and logical(similar to a Bill Watts/Jim Cornette style of booking with the added twist of having face work on top instead of the heel),the interviews/promos are just spectacular, you really nail the personality and styles of the different wrestlers exactly as i remember them "way back when",that really adds to the immersion.</p><p> </p><p>

Great work,keep it up.</p>
