glad to see things are still alive. This is fun because its not just the big names and big dollars which is why it's the first to hook me in.

I agree with that, I did not even know 90% of your original roster but I forced me to look them up and read about them. And through olympia, Moderndaywarrior, and for a time oldschool, I learned about these different wrestlers. So in a sense this is a bit of a history lesson for me. I mean heck I thought this was going to be about the ICW that used to be run out of New England back in the 1990's. I had never even heard of this promotion, I mean I knew that Randy Savage's dad owned a promotion but I did not know the name of it.

The confusion is understandable,it seems ICW are fairly common initials for "indy" type promotions;I can also recall another ICW run be Gene LeBell out of L.A.(I think) so that makes 3 of them and there's probably others I missed.

What makes Angelo Poffo's ICW interesting is the level of talent they had featured: you had Savage and Poffo, then at various times they also had Ron Garvin,Bob Roop,Bob Orton Jr.,Ox Baker, then guys like Rip Rogers and Pez Whatley....all very talented, professional, and world class talent, and almost all in their prime, which is far beyond most "indies",which usually have one or two "ok" guys but certainly noone like Savage who could(and did) headline any "major promotion;even if they do have someone with "name value" it's usaually a guy 10 or 20 years past his prime and 50 pounds overweight.

Good to see you are taking and interest and learning a little BHK;in a world where people get all worked up over "the next big thing",and where Vinny Mac rewrites history daily, there aren't many who are willing to take a look back at how we got here, which is a shame because maybe if more people did, they'd have a little more respect for the business instead of treating it like a stuntman show or action movie seqeunce.

youtube of the ICW opening theme (including rare footage from match where Ronnie Garvin BEAT Andre the Giant). something to tide us over until you return

Odd but fun little factoids: The guy near the beginning with the red mask and sequin cape with the $ sign is "The Miser", who is actually Angelo Poffo with a mask....he based the gimmick off his somewhat well known reputation for being one of the cheapest people on the planet.

The sign with the big CB on it stands for Canadian Bumblebee, another somewhat well known gimmick from ICW.

So they used to use the Midnight Express theme song as well.

Lol yes...the theme from the movie Midnight Express.....to be fair though, ICW was using it before Bobby Eation and Dennis Condrey became The Midnight Express.

Kinda funny to think they used that, JYD had Queen (Another One Bites The Dust), The Freebirds had Skynyrd(Freebird)....in small regionals....if they did that today it would cost them ungodly sums of money to get permission for the songs....probably way more than a regional promotion or your average wrestle could reasonably afford.

And I had always wonder if they got Outkast's permission or they were just so small that nobody noticed.</p>
