ECW 2006: The Blunder That Changed Wrestling

It was a risk' date=' espically after the (his NWA/TNA) title run but still even with that I didn't feel at all comfortable there. Plus for a man like Paul Heyman to tell me I was a guy he wanted on his team, its quite a big deal.[/quote']

With "Five Years Later", the Paul Heyman owned and independent ECW was offically underway and running. The show itself was a major success, bringing in ECW's biggest Arena gate in history. But it also was the first in one of ECW's newest innovations. It was the debut of the ECW "Pod Per View", a first not only for wrestling but anything at the time. ECW streamed the show live online at ECW.com and on Itunes live with only a $5 cost. This innovation garned ECW even more money.

What many insiders saw confusing was ECW's roster situation. As several stars were both in and out at a consistant basis. Heyman confirmed that a final roster was still devolping as "quite a few" new athletes would soon be debuting.

Prior to the show and the corresponding series of house shows, Heyman did something which was rarely done in the old ECW, lining up sponsers. Heyman was able to land year long deals with XM Satelite Radio, Coors and Rhapsody. Heyman, unlike the last go around, did not want failure to be an option. Espically after pissing off it's direct competition.

The competition wasn't happy either. The WWE refused to acknowdlege ECW following the Kurt Angle debacle. And the initial ECW bump had begun to spoil, even with John Cena losing the WWE Title to Edge. Vince McMahon saw it as a direct insult from both Heyman and Angle for the 2 to do business with each other so quickly. However deep down McMahon was both happy and upset. Upset clearly because Angle's swerve and the fact the WWE still was nowhere near it's powerhouse ratings of the past. But happy because he knew he did his best work against competition, and he knew ECW never had a chance of matching up to the WWE.

TNA however was not at all comflicted with it's feelings towards ECW and Heyman. Heyman had successfully stolen one of it's biggest (figurtivly and literly) home grown stars in Abyss, who up until a week prior was TNA Champion. Abyss, real name Chris Parks, would be the first but not the last of TNA departures for ECW. But TNA had their own way of payback, and began to get the ball rolling on it.

Without television and Pay Per View for another month, Heyman relied on the internet to get ECW out there and somehow it worked to get the ECW brand and it's main stars and feuds into mainstream wrestling's mindset, something that smaller companies like ROH and CZW had been trying to do for ages. And as ECW pushed from July into August and their last big show before the begining of "ECW on FX", fans would be plreasently surprised in the direction things would end up taking.

Official ECW Press Release Concerning ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament

http://s.bebo.com/app-image/7988616239/5411656627/PROFILE/i.quizzaz.com/img/q/u/08/03/30/ECW_Logo.jpg

For only the second time in it's history, Extreme Championship Wrestling has announced that at ECW's return to the Hammerstein Ballroom on August 19th, we will see new ECW World Tag Team Champions crowned during a special one night tournament. The tournament will feature an unprecedented 12 teams competing in a single elimination style tournament, leading up to the night's main event, a three way dance to determine the new champions. Below are the teams entered in the tournament.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/G%20Images/Gregory_Helms7.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/N%20Images/Nick_Dinsmore6.jpg

The Career Killers ("Sugar" Shane Helms and "Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore)

This high impact duo have been out for glory and recognition since arriving in ECW. Both men, despite pitiful former gimmicks in the WWE, are among two of the most talented men in ECW and the duo showed this at "Five Years In The Making" by eliminating the bWo from ECW before being run off by The Dudley Boyz. Despite not teaming for long, "Sugar" Shane and "Mr. Wrestling" have an amazing chemistry and psychology and the 2 have developed several devastating double team maneuvers including their lethal Future Endeavors finisher. Can the title tournament be the opportunity the Killers have been looking for?

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii278/b2flyxballer/Super_Crazy.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w17/tristramwcw/Tajiri.jpg

Super Crazy and Tajiri

Former long time rivals have turned the corner and become one of the most formidable teams in ECW. "The Insane Luchador" and "The Japanese Buzzsaw" combine two very different styles to dismantle their opponents. Despite several high profile losses, this international duo have recently been gaining quite a few wins together. Can these two ECW veterans run the tables and become new champs?

http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/Crychon/Wrestling/WWE/LittleGuido.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/T%20Images/Tony_Mamaluke.jpg

The FBI (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke)

The first former ECW World Tag Team combination are going to be a hard team to defeat. The high flying ability of Tony Mamaluke and technical wizardry of Little Guido are a combination not to be looked twice at despite their size. These wiley veterans, aside from their experience, have a hell of an asset in their corner in "The Full Bodied Italian" Trinity. Can these two "Italian Stallions" become champs again?

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/D%20Images/Danny_Doring5.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee97/Gsquared_2007/SHW/Roadkill.jpg

"Dastardly" Danny Doring and Roadkill

The final ECW World Tag Team Champions during the initial run of ECW are still one of the most feared teams in wrestling today. The brute size of "The Angry Amish Warrior" and the ever evolving style of "The Dastardly One" make this veteran duo favorites to win the tournament. The duo is the second most senior team of the tournament in terms of years together, this may very well give them the edge to win everything. Can the last champs become the first champs of ECW part 2?

The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli)

The team many have called the real threat to break out and win this tournament, The Kings Of Wrestling are one of the hottest teams in professional wrestling. Chris Hero and Swiss star Claudio Castagnoli have been literally unstoppable, as they have not been defeated as a team in a full year. The duo are the best team on the independent wrestling scene, holding 3 of the most high profile and prestigious tag titles at once. Many took notice when the duo soundly defeated the team of Super Crazy and Tajiri at "Five Years In The Making". Can the "Best Team In The World" live up to their own hype?

http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr269/martintew/BubbaRayDudley.jpghttp://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr269/martintew/D-VonDudley.jpg

The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley)

Without question the greatest tag team in ECW History. 8 Time ECW World Tag Team Champions, Champions in every promotion they've wrestled in. Thought to be the best team of this decade. Clearly The Dudley Boyz are highly favorited to win the entire thing. The longest teaming team in the tournament, nothing can get to these ECW icons. Their 3D is easily the most devistating tag team finisher in wrestling history and the duo can hit it anywhere and at any time. Will the Dudleys make it 9 times the ECW Tag Team Champions?

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/K%20Images/Ken_Kennedy.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/M%20Images/Mike_Knox6.jpg

Mr. Kennedy and Mike Knox

One of the most intriguing teams in the tournament are the combination of ECW's most hated man and his apparent collegue/bodyguard. Kennedy made immediate waves by costing Rob Van Dam the WWE Title at One Night Stand 2, and also getting on the bad side of "The Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle. Kennedy has dubbed himself the "Franchise Player and the savior of ECW" and has thusly made even more enemies by attempting to eliminate Rob Van Dam and anyone who stands in his way. Shockingly at "Five Years In The Making" Kennedy introduced a monster to his camp in the form of Mike Knox. Knox's sheer size and brute force stunned many, but espically stunning was Knox's staredown with Kurt Angle. Can this hated tandem get their way to a win in their debut as a team?

http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss128/adamherd/Tommy_Dreamer2.jpghttp://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk104/russellluther/sandman.png

The Extreme Dream Team (Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman)

Two of ECW's biggest legends and most popular wrestlers team up once again, but this time to go after the gold. Once former foes, Dreamer and Sandman have been one of the most formable teams in ECW history. These hardcore legends bring a level of passion and violence to the field second to none. But will the influence of CM Punk and Dreamer's recent run in's with Sean Morley be too much for the duo to deal with? Can the 2 ECW Hardcore legends win gold together for the first time?

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/C%20Images/CW_Anderson2.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/B%20Images/Brent_Albright.jpg

CW Anderson and "The Shooter" Brent Albright

The first of several recently put together teams, the duo of hard hitting brusiers may very well be perfect with each other. Anderson continues to keep up his namesake's wrestling legacy taking Charlie Haas to the limit at "Five Years In The Making" . Albright, one of ECW's Young Lions impressed many by unleashing his devistating Crowbar on fellow Young Lion Colt Cabana. Can this duo of no nonsense shooters make it far in the tournament?

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/C%20Images/Charlie_Haas13.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/B%20Images/Balls_Mahoney.jpg

Charlie Haas and Balls Mahoney

A very unlikley duo here on the outside but when looked on further these 2 may have more in common than one would ever imagine. Both men former amatuer wrestling standouts, both began competiting in New Jersey, both competed in old ECW and most of all both men have a love for hurting others. Can this odd couple shock many in this tournament?

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc267/Mr_EWR/ValVenis.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/KyKy_Base.jpg

"Superstar" Sean Morley and Mystery Partner

He has been absolutly unstopable since coming to ECW. Sean Morley, initially favored by the fans has quickly begun to show his true colors of being arrogant and holding his success in the WWE and in ECW over veteran ECW competetors like Stevie Richards and Al Snow. Morley has recently gotten into it with Tommy Dreamer, calling Dreamer "an overhyped, overblown job guy" and referencing his limited success in "the major leagues". Morley has earned the wrath of Dreamer but has promised the "perfect" partner for his quest to prove to the ECW community that infact he is a superstar of the highest degree. Can the addition of a mystery partner help Morley's chances of becoming a champion.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee147/tony2008_01/Sabu.jpghttp://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii278/b2flyxballer/Rob_Van_Dam.jpg

"The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal Death Defying" Sabu and "The Whole F'N Show" Rob Van Dam

The final team included maybe considered the most dangerous. The final pair of former ECW World Tag Team Champions, Sabu and Rob Van Dam bring maybe the closest relationship as the 2 were both trained by Sabu's uncle the legendary Sheik and the 2 have become like brothers. These 2 ECW legends bring an aerial game second to none in the tournament, despite their wildly different personalities. But will the outside factors of Mr. Kennedy and the monster formally known as Abyss damage these former champs' quest to regain the titles?

So awesome, as I was writing the main event, i bluescreened hardcore and my comp officially is DOA, as it just was taken to best buy. But I'm on my mac, so question to my readers, should I wait the week or so to get all my stuff restored and post the prewritten results, or post new and relativly shorter results (think Wildfire style) weds (double shift at work tmmrw)? Thoughts?

appologies again guys. :(

ECW "Tag Turmoil" Results

Taz and Joey Styles welcome us to a huge sellout crowd at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. They hype our one night tournament and instantly went ringside for our opener.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/D%20Images/Danny_Doring5.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee97/Gsquared_2007/SHW/Roadkill.jpghttp://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/Crychon/Wrestling/WWE/LittleGuido.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/T%20Images/Tony_Mamaluke.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket A: Doring and Roadkill vs. The FBI

The battle of 2 of the longest tenured teams saw a very back and forth contest, similar to the level of matches the 2 teams had during the final days of ECW. Doring and Roadkill took a big step in regaining their former titles by wining this one after nearly decapitating Tony Mamaluke with the Lancaster Lariat Of Lust for the victory in 7:14.

Pretaped segment with the Dudleys, who put themselves over as the best tag team in the world, holding belts everywhere they wrestled at and tonight they were going to once again take their place at the top of the ECW scene.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/C%20Images/Chris_Hero2.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/C%20Images/Claudio_Castagnoli4.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/C%20Images/Charlie_Haas13.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/B%20Images/Balls_Mahoney.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket C: The Kings Of Wrestling vs. Charlie Haas and Balls Mahoney

The battle of two polar opposite duos turned out to be a very solid matchup. The duo of Haas and Balls surprisingly had alot of chemistry for a team of such opposing styles and backgrounds. However, the Kings continue to illustrate the fact they are on of the truly well oiled machines in pro wrestling and advancing in the tournament, taking Balls out with the KRS One for the win. The Kings then proclaimed that the reign of the Kings was soon to take place.

http://i568.photobucket.com/albums/ss128/adamherd/Tommy_Dreamer2.jpghttp://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk104/russellluther/sandman.pnghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/K%20Images/Ken_Kennedy.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/M%20Images/Mike_Knox6.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket B: Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman vs. Mr. Kennedy and Mike Knox

The ECW faithful clearly wanted a brawl and thats exactly what they got, as Dreamer and Sandman brought old school ECW violence to the arrogant Kennedy and his monster associate Knox. But after several minutes of Dreamer an Sandman domination, the power of Knox's running Yakuza Kick changed the face of the match as he and Kennedy took control. The match continued to go back and forth and as The Sandman has Kennedy set up for White Russian Leg Sweep, like clockwork CM Punk made his way to the apron and jaw jacked with Sandman who took a swing at him, which Punk ducked. Sandman then walked into a stiff boot to the ribs by Knox, who then KO'd the Hardcore Icon with the swinging reverse STO dubbed the Knox Out for the victory. As a concerned Dreamer checks on Sandman, an arrogant Sean Morley walks to the entrance way and claps at Dreamer while smilimg, clearly laughing at the man who has become his enemy.

Hype Central for ECW on FX and Anarchy Rulz. Alot of hard sells here.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/G%20Images/Gregory_Helms7.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/N%20Images/Nick_Dinsmore6.jpghttp://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii278/b2flyxballer/Super_Crazy.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w17/tristramwcw/Tajiri.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket A: The Career Killers vs. Super Crazy and Tajiri

The Killers returned to the site of their ECW debuts, and these two did quite better this time around. Despite Crazy and Tajiri's differing offense, the speed of Helms and the sheer brute force impact of Dinsmore and his suplex variations proved too much for the combination. Dinsmore and Helms silenced a crowd which clearly hated them, by delivering a new finishing manuever, a Doomsday Device Variation where Helms nails a Shining Wizard off the top rope, dubbed the Fallout on Crazy for the victory. Following the match, Crazy and Tajiri, looking seemingly not happy in each other looked to have a small argument before leaving the ring.

http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr269/martintew/BubbaRayDudley.jpghttp://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr269/martintew/D-VonDudley.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/C%20Images/CW_Anderson2.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/B%20Images/Brent_Albright.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket C: The Dudley Boyz vs. CW Anderson and Brent Albright

Hard hitting wrestling at it's best here. The duo of Albright and CW have alot of promise here and they showed this by taking the legendary brothers from Dudleyvillie to the limit. But the sheer experience of Bubba Ray and D-Von was too much for the inexperienced team to get pass and the Dudleyz advanced following a big 3D on CW for the win. Following the match, a clearly pissed Albright bailed out on a KO'd CW, shouting up a storm on his way backstage.

Pretaped RVD and Sabu promo, and yes Fonzie's back Daddy. RVD claimied his main goal was to get a small ounce of revenge on Mr. Kennedy by any means. Typical stuff with these two.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee147/tony2008_01/Sabu.jpghttp://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii278/b2flyxballer/Rob_Van_Dam.jpghttp://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc267/Mr_EWR/ValVenis.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/KyKy_Base.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket B: Sabu and Rob Van Dam vs. Sean Morley and ???

RVD and Sabu entered to their typical huge reaction. Morley entered to a surprisingly amount of boo's, mainly having to do from his turn into an egomaniac about his celebrity and his recent actions against Tommy Dreamer. Morley claimed he looked all over ECW for a partner who can live up to the "superstar standard" he wrestles at, and he then realized he had someone perfect for the role. The crowd was very much surprised when from the back emerged...

http://i13.tinypic.com/6six004.jpg

"The Real Deal" Bobby Roode was Sean Morley's partner and the crowd was now standing in attention for this one. Taz and Joey hyped Roode as "one of the hottest wrestlers in the world and a major free agent signing for ECW and Sean Morley." This one turned out to be a fantastic battle, going very back and forth, with Roode staying for most of the match, proving his worth to the crowd. With Sabu and RVD seemingly on the ropes, Morley came in and took over. Sabu and Roode soon enough began brawling on the outside, and Morley gained the upper hand. Then, when attempting a big Body Splash onto RVD, out came Tommy Dreamer to provide the distraction, allowing RVD to knock Morley off the top rope and nail the 5 Star for the win. RVD is very much happy as he knows who he is facing n the next round. As he and Sabu celebrate, suddenly the lights go out, and once again "Welcome Home" hits and from the back walks the former Abyss. Joey notes that he and Taz recieved an ominious note, claiming his name was now Magog and he was to become the "God King Of Extreme" and the "Messiah of Violence" and they mention this note was from Magog's "associate". Joey mentions that Magog is a biblical name commonly referenced with the end of the world. As Magog entered the ring, Sabu and RVD both charged. RVD was promptly backdroped to the outside, but Magog seemingly had tunnel vision and went straight for Sabu. Sabu nailed Magog in the head with a chair, but it did no damage. As RVD attempted to re-enter the ring, in ran in Mr. kennedy and Mike Knox who attacked RVD on the outside of the ring. Meanwhile in the ring, Magog flatened Sabu with a huge Shock Treatment. He then went to the outside o the ring and brought in a table. Magog then nailed a vicious turnbuckle powerbomb on Sabu, with Sabu's head whiplashing against the turnbuckle. Magog then took out his trademark bag of thumbtacks and put them all over the table. In a truly sickening display, Magog nailed a vicious Black Hole Slam on Sabu through the tack table. Sabu laid out cold, bleed in a crumpled up mess as Magog shouted like a maniac. Knox and Kennedy instantly stopped their attack on RVD, looking at Magog clearly nervous for their saftey and the 2 bailed. Magog walked out of the ring, with an animalistic look in his eye as medics rushed to check on Sabu, who quickly was rushed to a local medical center.

Taz and Joey were in shock as we went to hype central yet again.

Matt Sydal vs. Jack Evans vs. Colt Cabana

This originally advertised 4 way dance, became a 3 way mysteriously (the fourth man suffered an injury the day before at his final indy match), but this one did not disapoint. Fans knew all 3 men from ROH, Evans and Cabana got very solid reactions, but Sydal, now laying an arrogant preppy kid, complete with new ECW Diva Lizzy Valentine, got a very good heel reaction. Sydal and Evans really put together a really great high flying battle here, wowing the fans. As Evans went up for his 630 Splash, Lizzy provided ample distractions, allowing Sydal to crotch Evans and nail him with the Here We Go Driver. But as he nailed it, Cabana snuck behind Sydal and blasted him with the Colt 45 for the victory.

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket A Final: Doring and Roadkill vs. The Career Killers

The first team made it into the finals would have a difficult road getting there as two very evenly matched teams collided here but in the end, it would be mistiming which would lose one team the match. Dinsmore and Helms took much of the match to Doring, until a huge hot tag brought Roadkill in and seemingly the match was theirs to win. However A mistimed clothesline by Doring, which sent himself to the outside, allowed Dinsmore to get behind Roadkill and allowed Helms to nail a superkick to Roadkill into a Dinsmore German Suplex and Roadkill was Future Endeavored, sending the Career Killers into the finals.

Kings Of Wrestling promo, claiming tonight the legend of The Dudley Boyz would fall, as would anyone who stood in their way.

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket C Finals: The Dudley Boyz vs. The Kings Of Wrestling

And the match of the night goes to this absolutly fantastic battle between these two teams. Very reminisicant to the old Road Warriors/Anderson and Blanchard battles of the past. The Dudleys got an early advantage but the dynamic and very opposite from the Dudley's power based, offense of the KOW, along with their ability to cut the Dudleys off from each other. The Kings had the Dudley's number, despite the Dudleys hitting 3D on Claudio. The Kings went on the warpath and even nailed D-Von with KRS ONE. But at the last second Bubba broke it all up. As we approached the 20 minute time limit. The Kings attempted their Propeller monkey flip spear, but Claudio missed the spear and propelled him to the outside. Hero then walked into 3D and to a huge ovation, The Dudleyz were in the finals. Following the match, the Dudleyz applauded the Kings and offered them their hands, which the Kings begrudgendly shook to a big ovation.

More hype central, but Joey breaks in and announces that Sabu is severly injured and will not be teaming with Rob Van Dam in the next bout, and wonders what RVD will do now.

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii278/b2flyxballer/Rob_Van_Dam.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/KyKy_Base.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/K%20Images/Ken_Kennedy.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/M%20Images/Mike_Knox6.jpg

ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Bracket B Finals: Rob Van Dam and ??? vs. Mr. Kennedy and Mike Knox

Kennedy and Knox came out, clearly expecting an easy fight against RVD, but when RVD entered, he had an insurance policy and a new partner.

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc267/Mr_EWR/KurtAngle.jpg

The crowd became unglued as Kurt Angle entered as RVD's partner and almost immediatly a full on fight started. And this fight degenerated very quickly, with 2 referees attempting to get everything under control. Kennedy/RVD and Angle/Knox went all over and after 5 minutes or so, the referees called this one a no contest as these men could not be restrained. But it seemed clear that no one cared and the brawl continued. Soon enough the locker room cleared as well as security and police came down to break this insane fight up. It seemed clear however that RVD and Angle got the better of Kennedy and Knox, who proceded to bail out of the arena through the crowd.

More hype as we tried to get things under control. Travis Murdoch promo next about kicking ass, beating up minorities and how nobody in ECW is up to fight him.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/T%20Images/Trevor_Murdoch2.jpghttp://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii278/b2flyxballer/Stevie_Richards.jpg

Stevie Richards vs. Travis Murdoch

Very much of a squash match here. Murdoch has become the first real cult favorite of the new ECW and he showed it here, taking it to Stevie Richards from the getgo, using alot of classic Texan throwback brawling tactics. Stevie managed to get some offense in but nothing spectacular. Murdoch downed Richards with a Diving Bulldog off the top rope. He then waited for Richards to rise and nailed him with his amazing front flip piledriver he calls the Ace In The Hole for the victory.

Big hype video for ECW on FX, which has been airing all night. Final big push before the main event.

Main Event: ECW World Tag Team Title Tournament Finals: The Dudley Boyz vs. The Career Killers

Main event time and these two did not let anyone down. An excelent back and forth battle with both teams looking great. The Dudleyz dominated early on but a Shining Wizard from Helms to Bubba Ray put the Dudleys in serious damage as the CK's worked extensivly on the neck and head of Bubba Ray. After several minutes, Bubba somehow fought his way out and the brothers from Dudleyville were now back on the offensive. Both teams slugged it out for several minutes before Bubba Dudley sent Dinsmore into John Finnegan. The Dudleys nailed Dinsmore with 3D and seemingly had the match in their palms. But Shane Helms brought a chair into the ring and nailed the Dudleys with it. As Helms celebrated his handiwork, from the back ran down The Kings of Wrestling with chairs in hand to a big reaction. Helms bailed to the outside as the Dudleys slowly rose o thank their new friends. Simultaniously the Kings both nailed the Dudleys with kicks to the groin and nailed both with vicious chairshots to the head. Dinsmore and Helms slowly pinned the Dudleyz....1.....2.....3. The crowd was in shock as The Career Killers were the NEW ECW World Tag Team Champions thanks to the Kings Of Wrestling. The Kings put the boots to the Dudleyz as the CK's bailed with their titles, with huge smiles on their faces. Hero grabbed a mic and simply proclaimed "NOBODY BEATS THE KINGS OF WRESTLING" and the duo continued their assault, nailing 2 Hero's Welcome KOW Edition on both Dudleys.

The Dudleys were a bloody mess as Joey and taz go on on how the KOW may have made the biggest mistake of their lives by making an enemy in the Dudleyz. Another hard sell for ECW on FX as the show closes with the KOW's going back up the isle looking at the damage they've done.

I actually like the new format better because it's all on one page and I can read it easier without having to scroll around.

kudos to The Career Killers! Their win over the Dudleys in the finals of the Tag tourney is soooooooo ECW!!! May they have a long reign and end the careers of a few "over the hill gang" members. and plus the Kings of Wrestling make a big splash and set up a good feud to occupy the time of the Dudleys for now

Wrestling Observer Backstage Notes Following ECW "Tag Turmoil" from New York City

-Despite their original fears, many backstage were very happy with how the Tag Team Tournament turned out, with that being the predominant portion of the show.

-The Career Killers wining the Tag Team Titles was the plan from the get go. Expect the duo the build up to a eventual program with The Dudley Boyz.

-Paul Heyman did meet with several officials from FX before the show. He told several backstage that the show is seen by FX as an "flagpole show" for the network and that the show set up will be very much different than any ECW program ever before.

-Rumors backstage have also been running that the roster will be dramatically shaken up before the move to FX. Apparently, Heyman has stated that quite a few of the "older" ECW guys won't be full time roster members and several are already being groomed for backstage roles. Heyman also is keen on brining in much more indy and international talent. It is thought Heyman's treating ECW as if it never closed down and the new stars would be the ones being pushed if the original incarnation had stayed around.

-The debut of Bobby Roode was kept very much quiet by ECW staff as Roode had been working several months in TNA without a contract. Roode was rumored to go to the WWE but it's believed Heyman, who had always been a fan of Roode and Sean Morley who trained Roode were the deciding factors.

-Abyss's ECW name is offically Magog, with the idea coming from CM Punk. It is thought that James Mitchell may very well be on his way to ECW to manage Magog.

-Colt Cabana is in fact on the ECW roster, but as for Jack Evans and Matt Sydal, the company is still talking to both men, although it's thought Sydal will sign.

-Speaking of that, several ECW scouts were present at Friday's Ring Of Honor show in Boston

If you push Kennedy, Knox, Haas, and Sean to the moon.

I'll love this diary for forever.

Bribes...the way to do it.

Anywho onto the show.

Great show. I like the fact that The Career Killers won. Easily one of the best teams.

I keep getting Brent Albright's picture mixed up with Roode's.

Oh and I don't like Abyss' new name really. It seems kinda silly as a face, but then again. I could be wrong and have Abyss show up at my house and throw me through the window.

Anywho. Great to see you back and I hope you continue kicking ass ECW Style YO

Those two months before we were on air was simply my way of seeing who worked and who didn't. They guys that worked stayed on, those who didn't didn't clearly. And when they "snuck into" TNA, trust me, I'm pretty good at knowing what my talent does. The ones who went there were the expendable ones.

ECW was less than 3 weeks away from it's debut on FX. The sets were being constructed. The cameras and lighting grids were ordered. ECW would be using a screen for the first time. Clearly this was a major effort. And for this effort Heyman had a majority of his production crew back. Ron Buffone and Charlie Bruzzese returned and Rob Feinstein was rumored to show up in some kind of form. Stephen DeAngelis and Rob Artese were ring announcing. Joel Gertner was back, now as ECW's backstage reporter (another full time first for ECW). Of course Joey Styles was back as head announcer. However, the issue of a color commentator was much discussed. Taz, who had done the previous 2 month's work turned some ECW faithful off, had rumored to had been offered major contracts with both TNA and WWE (his WWE contract had run out by the time of ONS2) and several ECW alumni had been approached about the job. This seemed to be a game time decision.

However, as game time quickly approached, much like ECW's original television debut, roster problems would take place and send the company scrambling. One of the early problems of the new ECW was for the most part, there was no set roster. Aside from the few big name ECW originals, former WWE and OVW talent and the stolen TNA and ROH talent, much of the rest of the roster worked on no real contract. As the show got set to premier, several key lower card talents put their notices in. Within a week, Spike Dudley, Nova, Blue Meanie, Super Crazy, Tajiri, Masato Tananka, Johnny Swinger, Simon Diamond and Christian York had all signed with either TNA or the WWE. Many believed an exodus of talent like that could severly damage the psyche of ECW and took away a part of ECW's soul as there was now only 8 ECW originals on the roster. But Heyman, always one to make lemonade out of lemons, brought several new stars to aide with the transition.

It was just about go time for ECW.

ECW on FX PREVIEW

Since 2001, the seed of extreme has laid dormant in the ground. But this Thursday night at 10PM, the seed of extreme lives once again as Extreme Championship Wrestling returns to national television as ECW on FX makes it's debut.

For the first time since the company's initial shutdown in 2001 and it's shocking resurection earlier this year, fans all over the world will see what real wrestling fans have known for years; that ECW is the most innovative, extreme, cutting edge wrestling promotion on the planet. And the only place you can see it is here on FX.

And how better else to start the reign of Extreme than with a enormous main event. In one corner stands a 6'6 300 pound monster by the name of Mike Knox, the muscle behind easily the most hated man in ECW Mr. Ken Kennedy. In the other corner stands a ECW legend, an ECW Icon and a man generally regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world in the form "The Whole F'N Show" Rob Van Dam. Alot of bad blood between these two wrestlers and be sure it will spill out in our main event.

In recent weeks, we have also seen quite alot of hostilities between Tommy Dreamer and "Superstar" Sean Morley. But tonight it will all come to a head as the two men will face each other for the first time. Will the words of Morley come back to haunt him or will "The Innovator Of Violence" be another "example" at the "altar of the Superstar".

We will also see a clash of two teams to determine who will challenge new ECW World Tag Team Champions the Career Killers, as former champions collide as the FBI take on the team of Doring and Roadkill. All this and much much more this Thursday night at 10 when ECW takes FX TO THE EXTREME

Confirmed Matches

Mike Knox vs. Rob Van Dam

Tommy Dreamer vs. Sean Morley

Doring and Roadkill vs. The FBI
