<p>Just gonna take a second here to give creative a rare pat on the back - last night went about as well as it could possibly have done bearing in mind that not only was Punk not there, pretty much <em>everyone</em> thought he would be. I imagine there's probably a lot of WWE insiders pissed at Meltzer right now. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Either way, they did a decent job of keeping the crowd entertained with (mostly) good matches, and they did an excellent job of working the crowd into the show and using that heat in some pretty good segments (Heyman and Bryan/HHH).</p><p> </p><p>

The only thing I'm thinking is that they perhaps had to show a few more cards than they really wanted to - Bryan vs Batista, the Usos winning the tag title, the Real Americans AND the Shield now showing huge cracks, all on one Raw? Heck, the only thing missing was Undertaker, although I'm pretty sure he was advertised at one point?</p><p> </p><p>

But yeah, overall, that could have been a lot messier - the only match that got crapped on that perhaps shouldn't have been was Sheamus/Christian, but to be honest, we've seen that a lot in the past few weeks.</p>

<p>Sheamus and Christian have had the old school ring psychology matches that I've quite enjoyed. Christian's a technician and Sheamus is a brawler, but both guys are well versed so it's led to some nice matches. They've run a bit long at times, but I personally haven't minded.</p><p> </p><p>

Speaking of Sheamus and good matches I loved his matches with Sandow. Where the hell is Sandow did he get hurt? I was hoping they might be grooming him for a commentary position as he's gifted at it. But I do enjoy the man's ring work and would hate to see him leave that area of the game.</p>

<p>Yeah, I actually really like Sheamus - he's one of those guys who can put on a decent match with pretty much anyone, and occasionally a great match with someone you'd never expect. His match with Big Show last year (I forget the PPV) was outstanding - way better than I was expecting. As for his run with Christian, I think it's been a bit over-exposed in the past few weeks, particularly as it's not really all that hot a feud. I think last night was maybe a bit of a bad timing - it wasn't a bad match, but the crowd were in a bad mood, and presumably they just weren't interested in seeing those two go at it again, particularly as it's pretty much a lock for Mania.</p><p> </p><p>

As for Sandow, I can only assume he's done something backstage to mark his card - he lost his MiTB match to Cena and has pretty much been completely buried ever since. A shame, as he's a serviceable wrestler and a pretty good talker - he could be a great little feud for someone like Cesaro, who's an excellent worker but maybe not the greatest talker in the world just yet.</p>

<p>Anyone still having any issues with WWE Network on 360?</p><p> </p><p>

I got an email today to say it's running, and indeed, I can login. However, I still can't play content and just get told the WWE server is not available and try later as well as check xbox.com/status. I've checked there and it says everything is fine.</p><p> </p><p>

A lot of content also doesn't show. Am I wrong in thinking last nights RAW should be available? Or is available 24 hours after the show has aired?</p><p> </p><p>

Additionally, I wanted to watch some classic Summerslam and Wrestlemania but it only shows the events for 2013; nothing archived before that.</p><p> </p><p>

Could it be due to me being outside of the US (despite going through a VPN and having a US Gamertag?)</p>

So my WWE Network account got stuck in a grey area where I didn't cancel it and yet it didn't kick in to a real account at the end of the trial (the one said he sees it as active yet pass its expiration date). It is 100% on their end and they don't know how it happened. Now they tell me to sign-up again and they think I won't be double charged.

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WWE Raw Review:</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Opening segment</strong> - I marked out for Paul Heyman's pipebomb. Lesnar's promo and the brawl with Henry were good. Fantasy booking: Punk returns at WM30 to ruin the WWE Title match by stealing the belt and holding it ransom. Personally I think he's done but if he decides to return they can easily turn it into an interesting work.</p><p>

<strong>NAO vs Usos (Tag Titles)</strong> - Road Dogg is an entertaining heel. The Usos finally won the belts! Should have happened at a PPV but at least the crowd got behind them.</p><p>

<strong>Big E vs Cesaro / Big E vs Swagger</strong> - Would have liked to have seen both matches but teasing a Real Americans breakup has been entertaining.</p><p>

<strong>The Shield vs Wyatt Family</strong> - Great match and scripted so it wasn't a rehash of their EC match. Rollins turning first was an interesting swerve. Cole's excitement was good: "I told you it's Armageddon! I told you!"</p><p>

<strong>Fandango & Summer vs Santino & Emma</strong> - I enjoyed it (it was basically a rehash of their NXT match a few months ago). The non-NXT crowd were like WTF? At least Emma got to do her 3 signature moves this time.</p><p>

<strong>Christian vs Sheamus</strong> - Screw the crowd. This was a solid match between 2 solid workers. Christian should have won, though. No point in building up Sheamus for a WM30 filler match at the expense of Christian whose heel turn momentum is dying fast.</p><p>

<strong>Bryan & The Authority</strong> - A+ segment. Masterclass in trolling.</p><p>

<strong>Del Rio vs Ziggler</strong> - Nice entrance with Aaron Paul. Makes me miss Berti's old entrances. Ziggler's winning matches again!</p><p>

<strong>Cena & Bray</strong> - I'm digging this feud.</p><p>

<strong>Rusev</strong> - Love the entrance and Lana. But no match? Anyone who doesn't know him from NXT or remember his Rumble debut will think he's the next Great Khali if he doesn't wrestle soon.</p><p>

<strong>Batista vs Bryan</strong> - Batista delivered a solid but mumbled heel promo earlier. Love the ending to the match. Batista's been selling for his opponents too much (to hide his ring rust probably). He needs to destroy a few jobbers before WM30 to look legit.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Verdict:</span></strong> Perfectly booked Raw to use the pro-Punk crowd to their advantage. The 1st hour and Bryan vs The Authority segments were some of the best Raw so far this year.</p><p> </p><p>

If anybody thinks that Punk wouldn't return in Chicago to what would have been one of the loudest ovations in the history of pro wrestling but he's still going to come back isn't thinking straight.

Dude is done. I'm sure there will be eight thousand more rumors on Dave's website about his upcoming return. Maybe we can have dueling Punk's coming back/Sting is signed to the WWE rumors that we all love seeing eight thousand times.

I was worried he might show up on RAW though. I breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't actually come out. Good riddance for me personally I can only hope he truly stays away until atleast Vince leaves because I know Paul will tell him to get lost.

IDK, Im still calling it either a straight up work, or a situation where Punks did walk out but is close enough to returning that the WWE felt comfortable with saying his name on TV and still selling CM Punk gear. WWE wouldnt have mentioned him at all if it were any other way.

As sick as I am of Punk personally, he is one of the most over guys they have and for whatever reason the fans really take to him so it would really be a big loss relative to this era if he stays gone. Hes been pushed to a level where he wouldnt want to go to TNA or ROH so I expect him back in the WWE sooner or later, probably as a part-timer the longer this thing goes on.

I thought it was a work when the story was hours old. But he's not working lol. He's not commenting on twitter there's zero publicity about this on his end. The dirt sheets provide "rumors" but i mean that's because Punk rumors probably get them tons of clicks.

If it's a work no one's working it. Not him and not WWE. It's one thing to sell a return angle and lay out on mentioning the dude for awhile, but heading into Mania? To not publicize him like they have been? To erase his likeness from the Scooby Doo commercial and things like that? I know none of this is stone cold evidence that he's done but I mean it sure looks that way right now. All we can do is guess though right? No one really knows but him and WWE.

I'm confused on one hand you're saying "this is a work" and then you're saying "he'll be back as a part timer the longer this thing goes".

Like Stew said who is this working? They mentioned his name on RAW because they HAD to but that was it. He got one segment and they turned it around to work into the Brock/Taker feud. If its a work who are they working? They aren't mentioning his name anywhere else. They are taking him out of every piece of media they have and he hasn't said a word about this. What is the point of a work if neither side is "working". The fact that people are still holding out hope is great for the WWE. They get a few thousand more people than usual tuning in, buying their product on the hope that a "surprise" return by Punk will be worth it.

Now onto the whole "its a loss for the company angle". He hasn't been on television since the Rumble and they haven't lost anything. I mean are they losing some merchandise sales? Maybe but honestly I'm of the belief that I go to the store to buy a Ralph Lauren polo and they are all out I'm still walking out of there with SOMETHING. How many times have we gone to the store to buy a shirt or buy something else, they don't have it so we buy something similar and move on. These guys will buy the new DB shirt or the new Cesero shirt or they'll buy the new Heyman DVD or hell the WWE is still pushing Punk merch. So they're not losing out on anything but not having him around.

Everyone would like to believe that Punk walking out is some massive hit to the WWE but in truth its not. Take last Monday for instance. EVERY one of his fans from the IWC and even people that weren't his fans were GLUED to the television. There were rumors of his return so some people tuned in hoping for that. Others tuned in just to see this crowd hijack RAW. Lets face it the last time the IWC was this hot for a show was the week after the night after MITB with Punk vs. Cena. Nobody can deny that you forget about Orton, Batista and even DB the truth of the matter is that Monday was RAW is Punk and even with all of that hype surrounding him from his core fanbase the RAW rating was down. So Punk's name wasn't even enough to bump a rating. I'm sure others will spin it anyway they want but when you round up the entire IWC and his core fanbase and you have an event all of them are wanting to watch it never equals ratings or even buys for that matter. Punk sells a ton of merchandise but the WWE machine is going to keep rolling no matter what.

The Monday Night Wars are long over and so is any era where losing ANYONE is a "big loss for the company". Cena goes down they push somebody else, Punk leaves, they push somebody else. The WWE could push Khali vs. Hornswoggle Iron Man match and still hit the same ratings, the same buys and pull in the same money.

On another level the longer this thing plays out the riskier it is. Vince is what 70 years old. Paul is already being groomed to take over. What happens if Vince is gone and its Paul running the show? There might not be a part time slot for Punk to come back to.

This isn't really true, but you're right that Punk has never really been a needle-moving guy for WWE. I think it was the Grantland wrestling podcast that called him a "wrestling fan's wrestler," which is pretty true. How many big CM Punk fans are going to quit watching the product because he's not around?

I'm also not really sure how it's "riskier" for anyone involved. As long as Punk isn't too physically broken down, there's money to be made from him in WWE. If he wants to come back, there's no question that WWE would find a spot for him, the same way they do for Jericho or anybody else. If it sells some "vintage" Punk merch, do you really think WWE is going to be like "no, you went home"? I mean, Austin went home and came back, after he was already physically broken down. There were hurt feelings when Rock's contract ran out, and he came back and wrestled even when he absolutely didn't have to. Sable was fired, filed a lawsuit, disparaged the company, and still was back on TV 5 years later. Big Show took a break in 2006 and was back about 15 months later. Brock Lesnar had a much worse falling out and was also involved in right to work lawsuits, and still came back. If Punk wants to come back, there will almost certainly be a spot for him.

The only thing that could could make it better is a Randy Orton or Brock Lesnar week.</p>
