liontamer
Rumor has it the women's division will be getting a sustained puah due to Rousey's mainstream publicity. Here is hoping the women step up in a way that they don't need Rousey. Curious how everyone would have her first match go if you booked it. I think I'd have it be the title match they alluded to, have her slap an arm bar on in the first minute. It'd look like Charlotte was about to tap when she'd reach the rope and force the hold to be broken, highlighting the difference in rules between WWE and UFC (i.e. "that's not going to work here"). Then I'd either have her slap it on again and win a minute or two later, or have a fairly even match with one of the other girls that did MMA interfere to get the spotlight, which would allow Rousey to stay strong, but lose and wouldn't necessarily make Charlotte turn heel. I say her and Charolette go about 7 minutes and Rousey will go over. Have Rousey squash people in matches less than 8 minutes for a few months and have someone like Bailey be an extreme underdog get a roll up on her at Summerslam.</p><p> </p><p> Bailey and Rousey actually go about 15 minutes in the next match up but Bailey beats her clean to end Rousey's run. There Vince handed that to you on a platter and the end result is Bailey is selling more merch to little girls than ever before. Rousey lost to one of the best workers on the roster which is incredibly respectable.</p>
CQI13
<p>Bailey needs a new gimmick though. It was perfect for NXT, not the main roster. She got no pop at the Rumble. Maybe she does something between now and then, but who knows.</p><p> </p><p> And I am curious to see how Deville gets pushed when Ronda starts working. Different brands, I guess?</p>

Was it really the gimmick that was the problem, or shoddy writing on the main roster? That said, she probably does need an overhaul now, because the damage seems to be done.</p>
CQI13
Zach Ryder and Heath Slater did nothing for years. People still popped for them after the shoddy booking. I like Bailey (and I agree, those initial pops were awesome), but it needs to get tweaked or overhauled...last year's Extreme Rules was the time - have her go crazy on Alexa Bliss and shed the goody goody image. You can then have her be conflicted over it, and return to it on occasion. I don't know, something!

If someone is getting duped over all the time then they need to still win big matches when the odds are finally even for the crowd to effectively get behind them. The reason Sting worked getting dumped on by his friends all those times is because he can still win the big one when it was an even playing field.</p><p> </p><p> And for the record she got killed in the ring for 3+ years on NXT before she ever started getting victories. I don't think Vince knows what momentum is (points to his push of Jinder Mahal) but I think she definitely needs slowly built back up. If she starts off with some "fluke" wins and eventually all out wrestling match wins "when the playing field is even" could go a long way. I think Bayley being the only person to slay the dragon that is Ronda Rousey is a redemption story that can make money.</p>
Anderz
The problem with Bayley is that her character’s story arc came full circle on NXT where she was the underdog who finally proved herself and then eventually won the big one. Problem is you can’t retell that story again and get the same results as before. Maybe you could have tried when she first got called up, but certainly not now. CQI13
<p>If done correctly, I agree. And yeah, from now to Summerslam there is time. Bayley wins, Ronda goes nuts and attacks Bailey after the match is over. Charlotte, Becky, Sasha come in for the save. Cue the 4HW of MMA and you start the angle leading up to Survivor Series.</p><p> </p><p> Those early matches for Ronda should be like Lesnar's were when he came back (like the one against Triple H). Full of MMA from her side, "injuring" people. And maybe they can use the Baszler v Moon build as a template.</p>

milamber
<p>Conflicting rumors about Rousey. Some say they wanted her to team with Rock but its off the table but a tag match with someone else against HHH & Steph is still preferred. Some say she'll challenge Charlotte (Raw is stacked with better talent right now and Smackdown could us the ratings pop). The tag match would cover her weaknesses better. Or a short brawl with Sasha.</p><p> </p><p> I don't mind Rousey. It's good for business but even though Charlotte and Asuka could carry her (don't think Bliss can) it would suck for those 2 not to have better opponents at Mania. So here's my predictions if WWE can resist the temptation to throw the women into fatal-fourway. Instead let the women have lots of meaningful matches.</p><p> </p><p> Charlotte vs Asuka</p><p> Bliss vs Nia</p><p> Sasha vs Trish or Bayley</p><p> Rousey & ??? vs HHH & Steph</p><p> </p><p> Becky of course gets left out LOL.</p>
milamber
Forget Raw and Smackdown. MMC, 205 Live and NXT are the shows to watch right now. Actually Smackdown was good (Carmella's cash-in was a highlight) but the new Wordart/Clipart graphics are awful.
milamber
I find it interesting that the Ember vs Shayna match was criticized by a lot of people for the long submission/rollup sequence. I just watched Tanahashi vs Suzuki match. It had 2 equally long submission sequences and a shorter submission sequence that resulted in a rollup for a 2 count. The difference in quality between the matches was big but still it stinks of bias...
Blackman
<p>Like Cornette I don't think Rousey should be in the ring already at Mania. Why not tease it until Survivor Series where they could have the unavoidable 4 vs 4 Horsewomen match (with Rousey obviously outlasting everyone after her teammates are quickly eliminated <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).</p><p> </p><p> The NXT PPV's main event was simply awesome. With all the people raving over "Y2J vs Omega": is that match really worth looking up? I don't like the atmosphere there in relation to NXT, and for me that's a big part of the experience.</p>
Mootinie
It depends on how many Kenny Omega matches you've seen. To the relatively uninitiated, he has a magic to his work that has to be witnessed. But, in my opinion, Almas vs Gargano was better than anything on Wrestle Kingdom. milamber
Seth has denied rumors he's injured. According to Meltzer, Jason Jordan has a severe neck injury that requires surgery. It's so bad that he can't tightly grip objects with one of his hands, similar to what Paige experienced before her big injury.

CQI13
Good to know they are using the women more (or at least did on this show). The only reason I'm not crazy about adding another title (but hey, if they do I'm sure they would know what they are doing): People would moan about the title not being defended on the main PPV. Jaysin
My buddies and I were discussing adding a new title that's interbrand called the WWE Network Championship(essentially a rebooted TV title) where it can be defended on any show that appears on the WWE Network(NXT, 205 Live, and whatever other B and C shows they have currently). It'd be openweight and it'd be a good way to transition workers from NXT to the main roster.
