Private voting, sure, but nominations should be a stage of plugging and boasting and praising and communication. Private nominations actually dissuade from that, and that's just not cricket. My problem is I don't want people to feel they are being looked down on for nominating themselves. I added it not to be self serving, but because to be honest who knows you diary better than you. That is also why the 2nding was added, some one else needed to agree with your general assesment. I fully expected debate and hyping to happen in this thread. Self Posted December 29, 2009 Share Posted December 29, 2009 I nominated myself for a lot of categories. The way I figure it, if no one thinks they're worthy of seconding, no harm - no foul. There's definitely a few borderline picks there. The Blood/Stone feud has probably been the main rivalry in FCK, but is it worthy of the ballot? I don't know. I'm just putting it up as an option. Two different FCK tag teams up there too. I nominated my Awesome Alliance, because they just won "Best Tag Team" on a survey of mine a few weeks back, but someone else nominated Young Guns. Different contexts yeild different results I guess. I'd rather just have the one team in at any rate. With me it's less of a case of "I wanna be in it!" and more of a case of not reading all too many diaries. I skim. I browse. I try to support folks. I just don't read enough to feel qualified to nominate others... so I might as well put myself up for consideration. Cheers for anyone who legitimately nominated my work though. You're all ace. I did a first pass with a bunch of Self-Proposals, and I've since PM'd a few extra bits, seconding one of two folks I feel deserve it, but there are a couple of categories that I need to think over some more. It might be a hassle for the dude in charge to sort it out, but if you just send in a few at a time it might seem like less of an ordeal, and the fields will shape up a bit faster. I've avoided the Diary thread, on account of feeling bad that I haven't been able to update in ages, and now with 2010 literally just weeks away I don't know if I ever will again. Really saddening. That said... WOW!! I'm actually nominated for things (note that Bam Bam should be seconded, but is instead just nominated twice). Thanks whoever yall are. While its an honor on its own to be nominated for three awards, I WILL work for Bam Bam to be the winner... somehow. He's a winner baby, a frakkin' winner. and THAT said... If there's still time, I need to do my nominating and such. I'll try and get it done tonight, but that'll probably mean me spending mucho time reading up on diaries. James Casey Posted January 2, 2010 Share Posted January 2, 2010 Have sent across a partial list of nominations at least. I also thought about a possible addition to the Hall of Fame: Characters. There are a few characters who have transcended their diaries, and it could even be argued that that like the Rock in WWF c. 1999/2000, the whole point of watching is for that character. I'm thinking about J-Silver's Darryl Devine, bigpapa's Rich Money, monkeypox's... almost anyone, really, but Jack Giedroyc is the one who springs immediately to mind for me. If this isn't worth a whole new wing for their inductions, I'd at least love to see a new thread where the 'breakout' characters are celebrated.
