In all seriousness, it was just something that despite all of those bad years recently, it's still 2 time SB MVP Eli Manning. He can't be a .500 QB. Yet there he is.

I've always been a guy who thought Eli was over rated which is a shame, cause I like Eli. You look at his two superbowl years and, yeah, I'll give the man credit for arguably having his best year of his career in 2011, 4900+ passing yards (highest of his career), 29-16 TD-Int ratio (16 is a lot of interceptions though), 61% completion rate. That's pretty good. He also balled in the post season that year (1200+ passing yards, 9-1 TD:Into ratio and 65% completion rate).

2007 is vastly different. He led the league in interceptions with 20 and only had 23 TD's. 3300+ yards but threw the ball 529 times for a completion rate of 56% with 5.6 average yds/throw. Not including his rookie season, this was his second worst year for QB rating. He was terrible this year. He was pretty good in the playoffs to be fair (where I guess that's where it matters), but with how good that defense was, if the Giants got 20 or more points, he was more than likely winning.

My point is just because a QB wins a SB MVP or two doesn't mean that he is a great player. This is a team game and there have been many bad, average and above average QB's and players who have rings and SB MVP's (Nick Foles, Joe Flacco, Malcolm Smith, Santonio Holmes). I'm not surprised to hear that Eli is .500 QB in his career.

I was thinking about this the other day, mainly due to the Antonio Brown signing (There is something fishy about that signing. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that he was in contact with the Patriots prior and then he intentionally acted like an ass to get the Raiders to cut him). Back in the late 1990's-early 2000's the Boston faithful were bitching about how it was not fair that the Yankees were buying their championships. How it was not fair that the Yankees kept on winning every season. The Yankees were the "Evil Empire" and all that was wrong with baseball.

Odd how that same fanbase does not seem to mind the Patriots winning all of the time.

Can't agree with you at all on the Antonio Brown thing. For better or worse, I can't envision him having that kind of artifice. For all the things you can get on his case about, Brown shows you exactly who he is. He's just the classic diva receiver and people will put a lot of negativity on those guys whether it actually fits or not. Just because the attitude rubs them the wrong way. And I will admit there have been times I've been just as guilty of that as anybody else.

As for the Boston fan thing, I've referenced living within the swirl of Boston fandom and the different standards each team gets. This phenomenon you're describing reminds me of old time hockey fans. They'd all complain about the thuggishness of a Marty McSorley, a Chris Nilan or a Tie Domi until that guy signed for their team. Then it became "He may be a goon but he's OUR goon." The Boston fans may have complained about the Yankees buying titles but that's because the big rival was doing it. If you believe Kraft is guilty of the same, he's doing it in their name so its okay.

That is the way it is with most fans bases though. It is always when the team I cheer for does something like that it is okay, but when it is another team it is not okay.

The thing with Boston fans is they somehow try to paint themselves as the perpetual underdog (even when it is not the case). Like they somehow have morals that are above all others. However, when they do the very same stuff that they accuse others of doing you never hear a peep about it.

Browns beat the Steelers for the first time in 5 years, but all anyone is going to remember is the fight between Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph.

I agree that Garrett and Ogunjobi should have been ejected, but Rudolph started the scuffle by trying to rip Garrett’s helmet off. Then Pouncy(spelling?) threw some punches and kicks at Garrett yet neither Rudolph or Pouncy were ejected.

Hopefully Garrett isn’t suspended too long. He’s one of our top players by a long shot.

That was crazy. BTW It sucks my Redskins are so bad this year. Frustration is something I know all too well as a Redskins fan. We had some good years in my lifetime when Gibbs came back but Synder had to ruin that.

Honestly, Garrett deserved some punches and kicks. Sure, they should have been thrown out, but the time left allowed the umpires to concentrate on the worst offences.

Who started it is up for debate. Garrett should have got off Rudolph much earlier, I'm surprised he wasn't flagged there and then. Only after that does Rudolph push him by the helmet, which made the red mist come down. Both were in the wrong, and ripping the helmet off was out of order. And what came next was insane. If you've ripped someone's helmet off they're well within their right to come at you. You don't need to hit them over the head with a solid object to defend yourself, dropping the helmet was a perfectly good option. Frankly, once Garrett had done that Rudolph's teammates gave him what was coming, and we can just be glad that there was no major injury (to Rudolph - Garrett of course still had the luxury of all his protective gear).

I think the band handed out were just right. I've read some people saying Rudolph should be punished, but I completely disagree. He should have been flagged, but his actions are seen most weekends in the NFL, you can't ban him because the incident escalated.

That fight was ridiculous and absolutely disgusting. I hear this is out of character for Garrett, which makes me wonder if there was some roid rage going on there.

Possible I guess. Hard to ever truly know from the outside until a guy gets popped for being a roider. But it's not like this was against a random opponent. Had Garrett done all this against a Teddy Bridgewater or a Luke Falk, somebody from a team we don't have history with I might be more inclined to ask that as well.

This was Browns/Steelers. This is a rivalry where a visually ugly sack by Turkey Jones on Terry Bradshaw forty something years ago makes an enduring local legend of someone 30 other fan bases have forgotten over time. This is the matchup where Antonio Brown curb stomped Spencer Lanning on a punt return. Incidents are common when Cleveland & Pittsburgh get together and either side can start it. Now granted they are rarely this over the top and disgusting. Very few incidents in football ever are. But if you're watching a Browns/Steelers game and you think it won't get chippy at some point, that's just plain naive.

I must watch too many stupid people getting into fights videos, because I wasn't shocked by this fight. I think people are more focused on what could have happened over what actually did happen. Garrett swinging the helmet was absolutely uncalled for he was rightfully suspended for it, but Rudolph clearly wasn't hurt at all because he barely registered the hit before posturing to the ref like Ronaldo looking for a red card.

Football is a violent sport where many of the participants look forward to harming their opponents and their fans look forward to seeing them harmed, yet we all still have to pretend to be outraged when a bar brawl happens on the field. Bill Romanowski ripped a teammate's helmet off and broke his orbital bone, ending his career, Ray Lewis killed a man, Michael Irvin attempted to kill a teammate, Brandon Marshall (the WR) got a teammate murdered by gang bangers, Darren Sharper is a convicted serial rapist, Adrian Peterson continues to beat his children until they bleed and the same fans acting outraged will likely either trample a store employee to death or beat another person to death over Black Friday sales. I'm sorry, but I can't manage to view Myles Garrett as anything worse than a man who needs anger management classes.

Super Bowl is set!

Chiefs vs 49ers is a much better game on paper than the last few years.

Pulling for the 49ers. Steve Young and Jerry Rice were the first football players I ever liked as a kid so I’ve always been a little partial to the 49ers.

I would like to see the Chiefs. For two reasons, one they have not been in a Super Bowl since the Hank Stram's led team "matriculated the ball down the field" (Those who have watched highlights of Super Bowl IV know the reference.). The second reason is that if the Giants are not in the Super Bowl, I always tend to favor the AFC team. I am not sure why, but I am the same with baseball as well I always favor the American League team. With some exceptions if the Patriots or the Dolphins are the AFC team in the Super Bowl then I want to see them lose.

Plus growing up it seemed like the 49ers played in nearly every single Super Bowl. Now I know it is not the case but it sure did seem that way.

I won’t be upset if the Chiefs win as Mahomes seems like a genuinely good dude. He’s easy to root for.

Also, how cool would it be if Joe Montana handled the coin toss for the Super Bowl?

It’s neat the two teams he played for are facing off.

I was thinking about that as well. I was always a Giants fan but I respected the 49ers and I remember I always wanted to see Joe Montana play (and Roger Craig for that matter). With the Patriots being the closest team to me, I never got to see him play because they Pats simply did not play the 49ers much and when they did the tickets were hard to come by.

Back then there were not many Patriots fans (sure there were the diehards) but when big teams came in it was tough to get tickets because people would pay to see the other team. Now I was fortunate to see them play against Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, and even against the Giants. But the one team I did not get to see was the 49ers.

When Joe went to KC, I finally got a chance to see him play in a pre-season game against the Patriots. The only problem was with it being a pre-season game I think he only played like half of the first quarter (It was a long time ago so I could be wrong. He might have played the entire first quarter.).

It's funny but that has happened to me often. My father bought me Bruins vs. Kings tickets just so we could see Wayne Gretzky play. Well he was traded to the Blues. We got Celtics vs. Bulls tickets to see Jordan play against Bird. Jordan played and Bird played like five minutes before laying on the floor due to his bad back. It seemed like I had no luck getting to see the greats play.

Oh boy, Gary Kubiak is officially the Vikings' OC now. Confirming that once again my team of idiots thinks they're one piece away from the Super Bowl and not a hot mess of a team that lucked their way into the playoffs with a head coach who thinks he can Thanos Snap a perfectly balanced offense that will never need midgame adjustments.

I'm constantly amazed by the Vikings fans who have watched this team longer than me and still somehow manage to have hope for the future.

Yeesh, here I thought I drew the short straw with the Vikes and Texans lol

Though if Brian Billick and Mike Tomlin are any indication, Vikings coordinators hired to be the head coach of an AFC North team turn around and win a Super Bowl not long after being hired.

Also, there is no justice in this world if the living Anchorman character Gardner Minshew doesn't become a legendary QB.

Would be nice to get off the front office carousel now that one would think Mayfield has gotten us off the QB version. I just can't help feeling like we should have gotten the Rivera or McCarthy style steady hand instead of trying to catch the McVeigh lightning.</p>
