<p>Yeah I was surprised at how many people are calling the fight a robbery. I though Machida would probably win a split decision (I scored 2 for Davis and 3 was definitely Machida's with round 1 being a toss up). I don't see why people get so worked up about decisions that are pretty dead even with little in the way of significant action where you are just splitting hairs by calling one of them a winner. </p><p> </p><p>

I though Aldo was on his way to winning the decision and I really hope TKZ doesn't get an immediate rematch. I think it was only as competitive as it was because of Aldo's injury and Ricardo Lamas deserves the next shot.</p><p> </p><p>

I thought Stann did great as well, but I still definitely prefer Rogan.</p>

I understand that a lot of times these guys are headlining a UFC PPV, but if you have are ill or injured and won't be able to fight 100%, I think you should pull out of the fight. Now I know Aldo broke his foot during the fight and he couldn't have pulled out, he should have had a plan in case that happened, and not stand there taking punishment well trying to take the fight down.</p>

Because, the likely hood of it happening is slim, but if it does happen the police would know how to react. Call me dumb or naive, but if I were to ever get into prize fighting, I would have a main game plan, a plan B, a plan C and plans for situation like a broke foot/hand/arm/whatever.</p><p> </p><p> As for KZ "hurt" his shoulder, which he did, but worse then hurting his shoulder, he disconnected it and was unable to use it at all. The ref should have stopped the fight right away, but he probably didn't know and caused KZ to take an beating which he shouldn't have and, imo, was a worse way to lose. I would rather lose official by and injury then strikes, and it showed I didn't stop.</p>

<p>I used hurt since I couldn't remember if he dislocated or broke his shoulder I will accept that.</p><p> </p><p>

But Aldo broke his foot in the first round and lasted until the 4 round where he saw an opportunity thanks to chance and took advantage. KZ showed he could beat Aldo which is understandable. No matter how good someone is they can be beat be it by injury or a lucky punch.</p><p> </p><p>

The initial issue I had with your comments is that you're calling out Aldo for blaming his injury for not fighting as well as he normally does. I don't know of previous circumstances but this time it was true. Aldo uses low kicks to set up his punching and without them he couldn't fight normally. He has a valid "excuse" for his fighting style and taking punishment.</p><p> </p><p>

About injury stoppage vs tko that your's opinion and I believe that it either loss method wouldn't have hurt him since the final result is a loss to a guy with a fractured foot. KZ's tough and skilled but Aldo survived him for 3 rounds with such an injury and KZ was unable to finish a offensively neutered Aldo.</p>

<p>If a fighter took an injury during or before the fight, it's absolutely a factor in the fight. You can't just discount that. Especially a broken foot. Everything from movement to punching power is severely affected. Normal people sprain foots and call out of desk jobs. He broke his and won a championship fight.</p><p> </p><p>

That shouldn't be complained about as if it's an excuse. It should be respected and admired because there's very few sports and very few athletes within those sports who would continue int he same condition.</p><p> </p><p>

I know Aldo's <em>FANS</em> (note: not aldo) always have an excuse for when he's not dominant, but I mean it's obvious to fan of his (or anyone who watches a few of his best fights) that he did not fight at a level we're typically used to seeing. So they're simply giving their opinion (int his case giving out facts) on why he wasn't fighting at that extremely high level.</p>

Let me just say that I'm not a fan of Aldo. I don't pay attention much to the lower weight classes as much as I believe I should but I had heard about KZ and wanting to know his opponent I did my research on Aldo. Not enough to know much apart from his past one of two fights in terms of critical response. I have however seen enough of his fights to know his fighting style. I just felt that it wasn't fair for damonster to bash a fighter for getting legitimately injured and as such not fighting to the maximum abilities.

Yes Aldo broke his foot, yes it impacts his movement & punches, but no it does not mean he couldn't have fought well enough if he had a back up plan. But let's face it, I picked the wrong time to voice my opinions. Like with Silva/Weidman fight, I heard it a lot afterwards was that Weidman only won because Silva was cocky, but that's the way Silva has fought all the time, but Weidman saw that and knew how to answer that situation.</p>

I do believe that a serious Silva can outmatch Weidman.</p><p> </p><p> No matter how god-like fighter is he can always be beat by a talented fighter. Silva was unable to accurately measure Weidman's punch and bam the undefeated streak is over. If KZ hadn't dislocated his shoulder he could have won the title. Maybe Jon Jones throws a wide punch and before he knows it someone closes the distance and uppercut.</p><p> </p><p> While I do think it is fair to call some of this guys the best pound for pound fighters in the world and put them on a pedestal what I think is that people forget that they are still human and can be beaten. You're not fighting Thor, Hulk or super-human Captain America. You're fighting a weaponless Hawkeye.</p>

Obviously I have a personal bias as I work for them, but I really would encourage MMA fans here to check out what Cage Warriors are doing at the moment. If you're in the US, all our events stream live and free on MMAJunkie (prelims on facebook), with a repeat airing the following Monday. You can also get all the broadcast fights on our YouTube channel pretty sharpish too.

We've had a crazy year already, with seven events in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Dubai. In a couple of weeks we're off to Chechnya, to hold the country's first ever MMA card. Then we're back to Wales for a one night bantamweight tourney, followed by shows in London, Bahrain and Dagestan, with a couple more to confirm before our New Years Eve visit to Dublin.

If you want high-level, well-matched MMA with great production values, look no further. The talent levels are going through the roof right now, and before long you'll be seeing plenty more CWFC champions following Conor McGregor into the UFC.

Here's a link to the YouTube channel for all the fights, highlight reels and more: http://www.youtube.com/user/themmaclinic

Do you have some recommendations for past fights to watch, Brad? Not especially on a technical point of view but for an entertainment perspective. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Seems like Rousey might be an enfant terrible for the sport, instead of a gift as prophecised by some websites. She thinks on retiring after a couple more fights. Due to her hard background, I get it she wants to quit and take it easy after she found success in Hollywood. She earned some rest. In her current state, however, she'll never become a legend due to the amount of limited competition. I hope we at least get to see her fight Zingano & McMann at the very least. Given the progress of the division, it'll be doubtless if that's going to happen. It's safe to assume she'll beat Tate again, and then what? If she only wants to fight once more, she'll retire premature.

I'm laughing at the current state of Bellator btw. Tito appearing at TNA seemed like a joke. I will watch the fight, but it's pointless promoting it this way. MMA fans will know and will watch. Wrestling addicts will not give a crap. If I were them I'd stick with promoting talent and present the company as a talent builder (like Cage Warriors). It shares the same pointless 'ambition' TNA has: to become no. 1. And it will never work.

Ahh, there are tons. Off the top of my head...

Any Conor McGregor fight. Conor vs Buchinger was short and sweet, Coner vs Dave Hill was cool too.

Ryan Roddy vs Wilson Reis, Jean N'Doye (remember that name) vs Liam James, Mohsn Bahari vs Piotr Ptasinski.

Our Wales card on September 14th looks insane so far. Jim Alers defends his 145lb strap against Martin Svensson, and there is a one night bantamweight 4-man tourney featuring Martin McDonough, James Pennington, Brett Johns and David Haggstrom. All four are European top 10-ranked 135lbers.

There's also UFC veteran Che Mills moving up to middleweight to take on Valentino Petrescu, who was on TUF: The Smashes, in a bout that has 'knock out' written all over it.

<p>I'd rather say: "what skills". He didn't need any heart to win this one. But I guess the fact that he actually fights professionally shows some heart.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, what was that sweet melodious voice at the end? Was it Bas Rutten? <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>I'm not sold on Newell at all. Obviously the fact that he's managed to overcome a disability to compete in a combat sport is incredible and very news/praise worthy. </p><p> </p><p>

I know a few (good) fighters who've trained with him, and they all say the same thing. He has certain things that he's very good at (heel hooks/rear naked chokes), and not a lot else. He'll never be a complete striker, for obvious reasons. I'd also be concerned with his ability to properly defend himself against an above average striker, or someone who can hold him down and hit him. </p><p> </p><p>

On the plus side, his inability to use certain submissions means he spends a who lot of time working on the ones he can. The guys I was talking to who trained with him (one of them is in the UFC, one easily could be) really sang his praises when it came to his 'go to' moves. </p><p> </p><p>

Will he be able to hang in Bellator, the UFC, or even against decent guys in the WSOF though? I'm not sure. When you look past the disability, there's nothing there that really screams out 'great fighter', or even 'above average fighter'. Whether that's because of his physical limitations or not, again I'm not sure. </p><p> </p><p>

His assertion that he was only going to fight 'ex-UFC' guys was ridiculous as well. Good luck fighting any ex-UFC guy that isn't over-the-hill enough to potentially get another shot, because no manager is going to let a client that's recently been cut from the UFC fight a dude with one arm on national television.</p>

<p>So Eddie Alvarez and Bellator came to an agreement. Eddie will rematch Chandler (Michael, not Bing) on the undercard of the Ortiz-Rampage PPV. </p><p> </p><p>

The deal means that Eddie won't have to sit out potentially another year or two, wasting his prime and killing his value. On the downside, it's now highly unlikely that we'll ever see him in the UFC. </p><p> </p><p>

It also doesn't bode well for seeing any Bellator champions make the jump to the UFC when their contracts come up. The UFC would have to make obscenely over valued offers that Bellator would be unwilling or unable to match. </p><p> </p><p>

Bellator have invoked their 'title fight rematch clause' to make the Alvarez/Chandler rematch happen. Essentially it means they can bypass their 'rule' of a fighter having to win a tourney to get a title shot. They also came up with a ridiculously convoluted point system yesterday for keeping champions active if a tourney winner can't fight due to injury. </p><p> </p><p>

Both the points system and the PPV were put together for Bellator to cover themselves in this and future legal cases.</p>

<p>With Newell, I'm not saying the dude's a future UFC champion or anything. I was just blown away by the determination and hard work that must have gone into compensating for such a huge disadvantage. </p><p> </p><p>

We watch sports to be entertained but every now and then we are moved and amazed.</p>
