Jaysin
PS. Still waiting on your debut, Jaysin! It'll be up by tonight hopefully, studying has been getting in the way
Linsolv
I'm sorry to hear that. Well, I'll certainly check tonight then!
Jaysin
Well, I accidentally merged the cross hair shape with the rest of the image and didn't realize it until after I was far to gone to undo it. So, there's a black line going through the center vertically and horizontally. Other than that though, I don't think it looks to bad for my first time. The title is for an organization I created forever ago called Wrestling Arts Revolution. This title is for the Extreme Arts(hardcore) Division http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e322/VenomousPrime/WARextreme.jpg If anyone has any pointers or see something they want to point out, just say so. I like constructive criticism!
Linsolv
The horizontal line is saddening, but the vertical, though a mistake, looks nice enough! The only thing I would change, I might advise towards trying to put a metallic gradient over that gold bit. Mine are different than the "standard," so I'd ask around with Reaps or Lion. But if you'd like my weird sunburst style gradients, they're not a secret. Just not the high fashion. Does the CS2 gradient tool have a way to measure the distance of each color? I don't know it very well, and I've only had a chance to use CS3 and CS4 (and they're not my favorite, so I don't know them all that well either.) (Because if my gradient info only applies to Inkscape, there's not much point in me posting them.)
Jaysin
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e322/VenomousPrime/warextremeblack.jpg I didn't notice the strap changed colors on that background until after I posted it! haha I tried the gradient thing to give it more of a metallic look and I couldn't get it to look right. There's a slider bar. In Payne's video he had one as a preset and basically said "dark grey, light grey" and that was as much as he went into that. Linsolv
I thought I heard "Photoshop CS2" being mentioned, which is why I mentioned it. I'll list off the shortest version I can of my main gradients. My strange little colors -- reds, blacks, blues -- are from a file I found on the web, and there's so many that they're not worth listing. Gold - (@0.00) fffdd2(@0.49) ffdd71(@0.62) ffef6e(@0.75) 482e00(@1.00) ffdb48 Silver - (@0.00) ffffff(@0.49) ffffff(@0.62) bababa(@0.75) 000000(@1.00) ffffff Bronze - (@0.00) ffe8d2(@0.49) ffb471(@0.62) eba96d(@0.75) 481d00(@1.00) ff9348 I'm not really happy with that bronze, it doesn't feel "heavy" like I want from a bronze. The closest thing I've gotten so far is what i used on that Stampede belt a few threads back: Stampede Bronze - (@0.00) ffaf63(@0.49) b44800(@0.62) 8c3800(@0.75) 481d00(@1.00) ff9348
Jaysin
Jaysin, What program are you using? R Linsolv is correct, I'm using CS2. I'll have to try out those gradients
Linsolv
It occurs to me that I could just give you the SVG files, if Photoshop CS2 can import those.
liontamer
I created my own promotion, the Global Wrestling League (GWL), for my personal games, and ended up making the logo, and some for TV shows. I'm not a good photoshopper, so I'm just relying on the free fonts I found on the internet. In case anyone wants to add GWL as a new promotion in their game: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r95/mahottama/GWLEliteEmporium.jpg GWL Elite Emporium, designed for the Elite Brand of GWL. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r95/mahottama/GWLTheLegendsLaironAir-altred.jpg GWL Legends' Lair on Air, designed for the Legends Brand of GWL. nice logos Jaysin, not a bad first try at all. Here's my take Pros - nice design - if you did the banner and added the text yourself it has a nice curve to match the banner. good work. That's been one of the hardest things for me to get down. Cons - obviously the crosshairs, although it's not that big of a deal. I always save the belt in stages with a save before I merge stuff to avoid this particular problem - although in this case I never use the crosshairs to begin with. - cant read the part above the champion banner/ribbon. - while it's completely passable as another style of it's own, it sounds like you want to make it look more realistic and metallic. As far as gradients, you can make your own or use preexisting. If you don't have a gold gradient you can always use another gradient and colorize it to gold. An as seen with linsolv's belts using lighting/ilumination you can make quick and easy improvements. You just need to play with the light setup. Once you find a good one save it because you'll probably re-use it several times. Also experiment with beveling as that makes a huge difference. - belt strap looks good. Would look better with some kind of lining or stiching. There are lots of options looking at the belts done by others, you can even create your own style like linsolv did. Linsolv
I made my own style? I didn't know that. Huh. Anyways, my aforementioned World Title is finished. I had it all done, and then Inkscape crashed and it didn't store any of my changes for like, 45 minutes of work... But I fixed it! http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/Sootmouth/Belts/SubmissionStyleWHC-Small-1.png http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/Sootmouth/Belts/SubmissionStyleWHC-Big.png Trying this new "Photobucket" thing... I don't think myself or reaper had the stiching pattern you used. I'm not sure with my current methods that I'd be able to do it in a way that is easiy enough to be worth it. As for the current belt I like the main plate, although I'd probably flip it. Also with this gradient it looks less 3d than your others. or maybe you didn't bevel etc. I think you're ready for the next step which is to increase the belt complexity. Try adding background layers - at least to the main plate to make the belt look more 3D and modern. just look up tatoo/tribal art, make it look metallic and figure out different methods of adding it to your plates. Linsolv
I got bored, and started reading an ROH dynasty (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39102) and noticed the interesting way they angled their belts. Since I've been putting off getting back to those details I slipped up on for my World Title, I figured I'd fix that, then try them funny angles while I'm at it. I figured this was a separate enough thought that I'd reply. I'll edit the belts into this post, though, since I figure it'll only take 20-30 minutes. EDIT: Wow. 30 minutes on the button. First, the "Standard" view http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/Sootmouth/Belts/SubmissionStyleWHCShadows-Small.png http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/Sootmouth/Belts/SubmissionStyleWHCShadows-Big.png Next, the "Tilted" view http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/Sootmouth/Belts/SubmissionStyleWHCTilted-Small.png http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/Sootmouth/Belts/SubmissionStyleWHCTilted-Big.png I had wanted a third, to compare between my shadow/glow effect I use now, and the emboss effect I used before, but I have been optimizing my borders for more effective gradient-ing, so the embossing turned out HORRIBLY, didn't even vaguely look right. Ah, well. I'm of an opinion that it ruins my smooth gradients, hence the reason I switched. Also, incidentally, this is the first time I've done a significant amount of post-editing in GIMP. Tried to get that "tilt" effect in Inkscape, and what I found was it wreaked havoc on the drop-shadow effect. Also, I seem to have forgotten to add any flourishes to speak of. ReapeR
Holy ****!!!  These are absolutely AWESOME!!!! The only thing that, sorta of bothers me, is on the World Heavyweight title. The way you have Heavyweight up there, kind of throws me off. Maybe put Worlds in the middle and split Heavyweight on the sides. Either way, DAMN!!! Just DAMN!!! Keep pumping those things out. Linsolv
Well, I've got good news and bad news. Good news -- wait. Bad news first. Bad news: I was doing some maintainance on my computer, and had to wipe the hard drive. This wouldn't have been a problem, but I totally blanked and didn't save any of my stuff. So, kids, let this be a lesson to you, always back up your files. Good news: Excuse to make more belts! Time for totally new SSW belts, since I am gonna have to make a new logo! Since I'm all excited and SSW is getting a total image overhaul, I'm gonna keep everything in reserve and post my stuff all at once.
