USPW: The Battle for Prime Time

Recommended Posts

It's Tuesday February Week 1

and we are live from the sold out Huntsville Fairgrounds!

UNITED STATES PRO WRESTLING PRESENTS...

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/USPWAmericanWrestling.jpg

[After a brief trip to Nashville, USPW is back in Huntsville and, as usual, the Fairgrounds Theatre is full to bursting. Our traditional USPW banners are back and red, white and blue confetti is pouring from the ceiling. After a quick trip around the auditorium we focus upon our two familiar hosts...]

Your Announce Team:

Danny Jillefski and 'Mighty' Micky Starr

Starr: Welcome, welcome, welcome! This is USPW American Wrestling - he's Danny Jillefski...

Jillefski: And he's Micky Starr. If you missed our last show here are a couple of highlights...

[A short video plays highlighting the most important developments at Stars, Stripes and Slams! 2010 accompanied by a quick overview by our hosts...]

Jillefski: Awesome night Micky...

Starr: So true Danny. In fact...oh, wait a minute - never mind that, it looks like it's that time again!

[The crowd jumps to its feet as the entrance music they've all been waiting for rings out across Huntsville...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/SamStrong.jpg

Sam Strong: I've got a question for everyone here in Huntsville...hey, lets make it for everyone at home as well...where were you all on Sunday night!?

[NASHVILLE!]

Sam Strong: [sam affords himself a quick chuckle] That's good to hear! I hope everyone enjoyed Stars, Stripes and Slams!

I spoke to a couple of fans backstage and I heard the same worry over and over...

...what if that is as good as it gets?

Well at USPW, we know that two nights ago was the greatest event in wrestling history...

[The crowd begins the U-S-P-W chant...]

Sam Strong: Thank you. We know that it was the greatest event in wrestling history...but that was only the beginning. You see, tonight is going to be the greatest night in wrestling history...

...next Tuesday is going to be the greatest night in wrestling history...

...every PPV, every TV show is going to be the greatest night in wrestling history!

You see, USPW is here, and we are wrestling history!

[The roar of the crowd drowns out any comments made by the announce team and once again, before Sam leaves he points up to the crowd where J.K. Stallings Jr. stands clapping wildly with the rest of the audience...]

Segment Rating: A

The People's Team vs. The Titans (w/Sheik Mustafa)

The inspired victory against The Towers of Power last Sunday clearly left The People's Team drained. Moving sluggishly and making small, but substantial, mistakes throughout this match meant that The Titans were always on top. Freddie Datsun spent the majority of the match in the ring, much to the annoyance of his more excuberant partner, and that decision was to cost his team the victory. When T-Rex hit The Everyman with a huge neckbreaker the crowd knew what was coming...Jurassic Crush! With the raised full nelson locked in, Davids tried his best to break it up but only succeeded in getting clattered by the enormous forearm of Tyson Baine. With Datsun tapping wildly, Robbie Sanchez had no option but to declare the Titans the victory.

The Titans win in 7:22 via submission

Match Rating: D+

Jillefski: That was brutal. It's clear to me that T-Rex is annoyed at missing the PPV, and Tyson Baine is definitely holding a grudge after last Sunday night's main event fiasco.

Starr: Unfortunately for The People's Team neither of them is waiting to take it out on the right people!

[The action cuts backstage where Giant Redwood and Captain USA are stood uncomfortably in Sam Strong's office. The three are clearly in the middle of a conversation...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/CaptainUSA.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/SamStrong.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/GiantRedwood.jpg

Sam Strong: ...look, I'm sorry guys but my hands are tied. The Board are right, there are just too many people on the roster and unfortunately, the two of you have done very little to show them you are worth keeping. But...I have managed to do a deal on your behalf.

You both have a month in which to prove your worth – whoever has the most wins by the end of the month can stay...Don't look at me like that Jethro...I know, I know, I'm sorry but that's the best I can do.

[As Sam looks on apologetically, USA skulks away and Redwood roars before knocking over a cabinet. Clearly, the two men are unhappy about this new 'deal.']

Segment Rating: B+

Starr: That seems pretty fair, though I don't think 'Jethro' would agree with me. I wonder who'll win Danny?

Jillefski: Beats me!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/ChrisCaulfield.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/GiantRedwood.jpg

Chris Caulfield vs. Giant Redwood

With a heavily bandaged Caulfield clearly still feeling the effects of Sunday's battle with Bruce the Giant, Giant Redwood must have thought he was in with a shot of victory to get his contract race underway. That wasn't to be the case however and in only four and a half minutes Chris Caulfield hit the Danger Drop and was being declared the winner.

Chris Caulfield wins in 4:31 via pinfall

Match Rating: D

Jillefski: Ouch! That means Giant Redwood is currently 0-1 in the race for a contract. Can Captain USA take advantage?

Starr: We're not going to have to wait long to find out Danny, here he comes now...

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/PeterValentine.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/CaptainUSA.jpg

Peter Valentine vs. Captain USA

Captain USA had the opportunity to get his bid for a contract off to a great start in this non-title match against Peter Valentine. Luck was against the Captain, however, and despite a great early showing gradually fell back as Valentine took control. Just after the five minute mark, Peter Valentine's Heart Breaker finished things off.

Peter Valentine wins in 5:48 via pinfall

Match Rating: D-

Jillefski: Double ouch! Both Giant Redwood and Captain USA get their contract duel off to a losing start.

Starr: I'm guessing this is going to be a long month!

[The fans know what is next when the camera aims up towards the videotron. We're back in the USPW Event Centre where our host, Davis Ditterich, is stood in front of the classic montage-filled video wall...

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/DavisDitterich.jpg

Davis Ditterich: Hello everyone, we're in the USPW Event Centre where I'm your host - Davis Ditterich. If you didn't catch last Sunday's star-studded PPV then one of the things you will have missed is The Oracles of Destruction's introducing everyone to their new manager, The Guru. Earlier on today I had a chance to speak to The Guru about just why he'd come to USPW...

[Davis Ditterich spins around to look at the video wall just as it fades away, a clip of Tom E Hawk taking on Peter Valentine fading into an image of The Guru on the traditional interview set...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/TheGuru.jpg

The Guru: United States Pro Wrestling...the home of wrestling? The home of entertainment? Regardless, USPW is the home of the greatest tag team in the history of the world...The Oracles of Destruction. I have managed some of the greatest figures of this business but The Oracles, they are different. Crafted from marble, wrought from iron, weathered by the storms...they are the true icons of this business. Mr. Ditterich asked why I came to this company...the answer is simple - you need me...you need the Oracles...it is simple...we...we are the Gods of Wrestling.

[Another maniacal laugh ends a Guru speech and his shuffling feet can be heard as the interview set fades back to the montage, and Davis Ditterich once again turns towards the camera...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/DavisDitterich.jpg

Ditterich: The Guru there, modest as ever. As well as The Guru being unleashed upon the world, Sunday's Stars, Stripes and Slams! also played host to a Women's title match between Raven Robinson and Belle Bryden. The champion went home the happier however, after the enormous figure of Anaconda interrupted the match, causing the referee to call a draw. I'm being told that Belle has a few words to say on the matter...

[belle Bryden is the new figure on the video wall. Once again she is perched lightly upon a tall stool, swinging her left leg. This time, however, her mood is clearly one of anger and the tone in her soft southern drawl is unmistakable...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/BelleBryden.jpg

Belle Bryden: You know, I should be here talking about my magnficent victory over Raven Robinson and showing y'all just how good the USPW Women's Title looks on me. Instead, some big, ugly...thing...comes charging in to my match, a match I was this close to winning and messes it up for me. Anaconda? It looks more like a Gorgon to me! But you see, I'm not finished yet...oh no! So Raven dear, don't think your off the hook...I will be Women's Champion sooner...rather than later!

[belle blows a kiss at the screen, flicks her hair and hops of the stool storming off screen. As always, a brief farewell from Davis Ditterich follows Belle's fading from the screen and this segment is over.]

Segment Rating: B-

USPW Television Title Match

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/USPWTV_red.jpg

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/JimForce.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/AndreJones.jpg

The Force vs. Andre Jones ©

Still bandaged up from his brutal encounter with Peter Valentine, The Force still looked his usual energetic self before his match with Television Champion Andre Jones. A great back-and-forth encounter left both men with opportunities to grab the victory but both missed. Falling awkwardly after a suplex from Jones around the four minute mark, The Force began to struggle to move and the champion began to capitalise. After a couple of minutes were spent weakening his opponent's back, Jones went for the Blast from the Past finisher...reversal! The Force was back on the offensive and quickly went for his own finisher, the suplex powerslam he calls Full Force. Hoisting his opponent into the air it looked to everyone in the crowd that we were about to have a new Television champion until...Force hits the deck! Peter Valentine had snuck in on Force's blindside and hit him in the centre of his bandaged back with a steel chair...

The Force wins in 8:01 via DQ

Andre Jones retains the USPW Television title

Match Rating: D+

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/PeterValentine.jpg

[...not content with ending the match, Valentine continues to attack The Force whilst Andre Jones slips away quietly. After several boots to the midsection, Valentine hit the Heart Breaker leaving The Force out cold.]

Segment Rating: C-

Jillefski: Someone needs to sort Peter Valentine out, and soon. Not only did he assault Jim Force all last month, he's at it again this month...despicable!

Starr: Looks like Valentine isn't content with keeping Force's hands of his title belt, but he doesn't want them on anybody else's either!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/DarrylDevine.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/JamesJustice.jpg

Darryl Devine (w/Seduction) vs. James Justice

Sam Strong clearly meant what he said earlier tonight, with James Justice and Darryl Devine meeting in a memorable semi-main event. Devine's eagerness to prove himself was obvious from the start and he more than held his own against the veteran James Justice. Justice seemed to spend more time playing to the crowd and it felt to most like his mind wasn't entirely on this match. When Darryl Devine started to take control, Justice realised his tomfoolery had got him nowhere and he began to fight back, quickly regaining his momentum. 'Mighty Fine's' lack of experience was his downfall again when out of nowhere he went for a running cross-body...Justice had caught the flying Devine in mid-air! Repositioning his opponent, Justice hit the Liberation Slam and all of a sudden, this one was all over.

James Justice wins in 9:40 via pinfall

Match Rating: C+

[before the referee has time to raise Justice's hand in victory he is off to the corner where a nearby assistant is stood. James whispers something in her ear and she walks over to a ringside table before handing him a microphone...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/JamesJustice.jpg

James Justice: Hey...Big T...you may have made sure that JJ missed the biggest show in this company's history but we're not going to miss the next one. Oh no!

You see T, you and JJ are going to Red, White & Blue! and you can bring along SM, TB

...hey, just bring anyone you like...

Because even if I have to come in to that ring wrapped up like a mummy – The Dude is gonna' be there! Oh! Yeah!

[As the auditorium joins in 'The Dude's' cries of 'Oh! Yeah!' he sends peace signs in all directions while the crowd go wild.]

Segment Rating: B+

Jillefski: Did you hear that Danny!? There's no way T-Rex can get out of this one now!

Starr: Oh! Yeah!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/Enygma.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/BrucetheGiant.jpg

[The camera turns up to look at the videotron as an image slowly appears upon it. Enygma is in his locker room doing press-ups but he doesn't notice Bruce the Giant walk in through the open door! When Enygma's arms are fully extended at the top of their push, Bruce puts a boot right in the middle of the champion's back and rams him back into the cold, hard floor. With his prey trapped underneath an enormous foot, Bruce roars before standing upon the much smaller Enygma, placing his entire weight upon the back of the champion. Another roar and Bruce pushes the camera away with a giant hand as he walks out of the locker room leaving a motionless Enygma in the centre of the floor...]

Segment Rating: B+

Starr: Enygma nearly broke in half!

Jillefski: Having Bruce the Giant stand on you must be like having a jumbo jet land on your back!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/JumboJackson.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/USPW/Cards/NickyChampion.jpg

Jumbo Jackson (w/Shane Sneer) vs. Nicky Champion

It would be fair to say that these two men haven't had the most involving first month of 2010. Despite great matches from both men, neither has really made their mark on the new year's roster. Still, another great performance from both men leaves a hot audience with no doubt why these two are main eventing the most important TV show on Sports America. Unbelievable action from both men kept the crowd on the edge of their seats and it was clear to all that something extra was going to make the difference in this match. They were to be proved right with that little extra coming in the shape of Shane Sneer. When Nicky Champion and Jumbo Jackson both fell to the outside of the ring, Sneer saw his chance. With the referee tending to Jackson, Sneer began to lay the boot into the downed Champion. Taking too long between kicks, Nicky began to fight back until Jackson came to and tried to send his opponent back into the ring. Sneer wasn't done, however, and with the referee's back turned he launched himself towards Champion with the ring bell...ducked! Instead of hitting Champion, Sneer had taken out his own man! Distraught, Sneer fell to his knees while Champion rolled his opponent back into the ring. Picking Jackson up, Champion hit the Hawkeye Hammer before covering for three. As Nicky celebrated with the crowd, Sneer tried to apologise to the dazed Jackson who, it appeared, wanted nothing to do with him.

Nicky Champion wins in 12:16 via pinfall

Match Rating: C+

Jillefski: Shane Sneer is not going to be a popular man when Jackson comes to!

Starr: What a match, Danny! What...a...match!

Quick post this one, but do not fear - the card preview for February Week 2 will be up tomorrow evening. No alts today either, though we have learnt that Gorgon's USPW name will be Anaconda.

Needless to say, thanks to everyone who has predicted for the show. Congratulations this week go to SWF Fan, angeldelayette, Jingo, The Shape and xopher316 for getting 5/5. The prediction table will be posted after the next show but everyone did really well this week and even if you didn't get a chance to get your picks in on time, you'll still be in with a shot come the end of the game month!

Finally, thanks everyone for all your support - be it predicting or just reading - you are all a big part of this diary's success. :D

I hope Redwood wins the battle for the contract. USPW without Giant Redwood..? Unthinkable!

Hey Liamo, thanks for the comment. I'm not going to spoil the surprise but I hope you enjoy the storyline - whichever way it turns out! :D

Awesome PPV.

Hopefully you understand where I'm coming from but USPW reminds me of those old Jim Crockett Productions shows on TBS ..pre-Turner buy out ..right around the first Clash of the Champions

It's just really good classic wrestling booked in a straightforward style.

Thanks again Peter, and I definitely know what you mean. I tried to watch a lot of classic stuff as 'research' for this diary, old WCW, WWF, JCP, Georgia - anything 'classic' that I could find really. In fact, over the weekend I might even hunt down the first CotC!

All you really need, and i mean this in the nicest way possible in terms of the USPW roster, is someone who can REALLY work.

Either someone who can sell like crazy and make all those monsters on that roster look good in the ring or a heel who can carry some feuds while the younger faces chase the belt.

I like the overall feel of what's going on, but I haven't become really attached to one character..if you can find a guy like Rich Money in BigPapa's diary, and this would be to USPW the way Gen Supreme is to SWF.

I love it so far. Keep up the work.

Definitely. Hopefully we'll see a few more able workers debut soon enough!

I know what you are saying about individuals too. With having 70-80% matches (which I don't particularly want to change) you're not left with much time to give people out of the ring. The whole traditional feel doesn't help too much either because things like the Ditterich Event Centre promos are really short (it is obviously based upon the WWF Media Centre and WCW's version with EB) but I think it at least gives it a different feel than if I'd just turned it down to 50/50 and used crap workers in a SE environment.

Stern is definitely someone people can get attached to more easily, even if it is through hatred, simply because of the amount of time he has promo-ing. Unfortunately, there isn't the amount of time for everyone to get that exposure. Hopefully, Stern's feud will rub off on his opponent and as time goes by you'll warm to a few more characters. :D

Thanks for all your comments Peter, it is great having you on board!

Get your predictions in for...

USPW American Wrestling

February, Week 2, 2010

Alicia Strong vs. Cherry Bomb

Neither of these two competitors got the opportunity to go to our first ever PPV and both made it clear they were unhappy about. The pair met two weeks ago where Alicia Strong grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat, something Cherry Bomb wanted to set right when she requested this match.

Will Cherry get the revenge she so desperately wants, or will Strong show that her last victory was more decisive than it looked?

Bruce the Giant vs. Captain USA

#1 Contender Bruce the Giant has been merciless in his pursuit of the world title. Tonight, however, he faces a determined Captain USA who last week discovered that he is in a contract race with Giant Redwood.

Will the Captain get his contract push underway, or will Bruce flatten another competitor on his way to the top?

Enygma vs. Freight Train

Non-Title Match

Who is the mysterious Freight Train? That is what Enygma will be wondering before tonights match. Train, however, will be looking to set his USPW career ablaze from the word go with a victory over the World Champion.

Will Enygma's victory streak keep chugging along, or will Freight's debut be a ride aboard the USPW gravy train?

Giant Redwood vs. James Justice

Like Captain USA, Giant Redwood is in the midst of trying to prove himself a worthy USPW wrestler. After being humiliated by Chris Caulfield last week, he'll want to turn things around quickly against The Dude.

Can Redwood get on the right track, or will Justice keep the American's dream alive?

Chris Caulfield vs. Tyson Baine

Feeling cheated out of the title at Stars, Stripes, and Slams! Tyson Baine went on a rampage last week against the tag team champions. He will face a tougher challenge tonight, however, when he steps into the ring with 'Hardcore American' Chris Caulfield.

Will Baine's fury continue to crush his opponents, or will Chris Caulfield prove to be more than a match for the Demon?

Plus, Andre Jones will defend his Television title, whilst The People's Team defend their titles against a pair of second generation superstars. We'll also get some 'real education' when Professor Stern gives one of his infamous lectures – only on USPW American Wrestling!

Quick Picks...

Alicia Strong vs. Cherry Bomb

Bruce the Giant vs. Captain USA

Enygma vs. Freight Train (Non-Title Match)

Giant Redwood vs. James Justice

Chris Caulfield vs. Tyson Baine

<hr color="black">

As usual, feel free to guess the identity of Freight Train and The People's Teams' opponents, neither will be included in your scores. I'm hoping to get the show posted sometime over the weekend, probably Saturday though I'll let you all know nearer the time.

Alicia Strong vs. Cherry Bomb

Hard to pick against Alicia though I'm probably wrong.

Bruce the Giant vs. Captain USA

SQUASH~!

Enygma vs. Freight Train (Non-Title Match)

I'm calling for a draw and maybe the debut of Runaway Train in USPW?

Giant Redwood vs. James Justice

Poor Redwood.

Chris Caulfield vs. Tyson Baine

Baine wins a hard-hitting contest.

Also, I think The People's Team's opponents will be C-V-2.

Thanks for your predictions as always angeldelayette! Whilst I normally wouldn't comment on a prediction (especially one that could build such excitement for Freight Train's debut :p) I felt I had to....because unfortunately I haven't been that lucky!

However, whilst not on the same wage band as Runaway Train, he is certainly just as ugly. Plus, he has worked for SWF and definitely has the 'USPW' look. Right, enough clues - carry on :D

Alicia Strong vs. Cherry Bomb

No contest... I see Gorgon/Anaconda getting involved

Bruce the Giant vs. Captain USA

Enygma vs. Freight Train (Non-Title Match)

If Freight Train was a big enough name to beat Enygma on TV, it would be the main event

Giant Redwood vs. James Justice

Chris Caulfield vs. Tyson Baine

I see Baine picking up a big win here, possibly with interference

Alicia Strong vs. Cherry Bomb

DQ win for Strong after Anaconda gets involved, just as she is about to put Cherry Bomb away.

Bruce the Giant vs. Captain USA

Looks like Captain Old is going to be on job duty

Enygma vs. Freight Train (Non-Title Match)

This newcomer sounds suspiciously similar to Runaway Train, then again this could just be a curveball but getting in a Runaway Train immitator would just be bush league, so surely it must be the real deal and would he be kicking off with a loss, even if he is up against the world champ in his first match ?

Giant Redwood vs. James Justice

The Redwood/Captain Old storyline of them fighting for their futures just calls for them to both be jobbing until they face one another in some kind of 'gutcheck' match.

Chris Caulfield vs. Tyson Baine

Keep the monster heel strong, right now it looks like you setting up a bunch of monsters for Engyma to go up against in defending the world title.

Alicia Strong vs. Cherry Bomb

I know, I know. Strong will win. BUT, Call this a showing of 'extreme loyalty'. ;) I love Cherry Bomb. So much so that the DOA may need a women's divison come Season II....

Bruce the Giant vs. Captain USA

Squash the Captain!

Enygma vs. Freight Train (Non-Title Match)

Gets beaten up pretty badly; however, wins via DQ. This way it makes the debuting work look super strong & dominate, While also keeping Enygma over (depending upon the popularity levels of the mysterious "Freight Train")

Giant Redwood vs. James Justice

Cut that Tree down!

Chris Caulfield vs. Tyson Baine

I like Caulfield; alot (especially with his Tommy Dreamer likeness in the Cornellverse); however, Baine is the bigger man... the bigger star. He comes away with a well fought victory.
