Queens of Chaos RELEASED!

Recommended Posts

It is 2010 and the world is seemingly backwards. Women's wrestling is the hottest, fastest growing segment of the industry. Rumor has it that this was the result of the subtle machinations of a billionaire fan, who assembled the right group of allies to assist him in staging perhaps the most high profile coup in wrestling history. This shadowy presence, known colloquially as 'The Investor', manipulated the press and created a large pile of kindle, with the flashpoint being a simple film Perhaps 'simple' is a misnomer as this film, a documentary, sported the highest budget of any film of its kind, backed by one of the most aggressive multilateral advertising campaigns ever seen by the entertainment industry. The film, entitled “The Total Package - Women of Wrestling”, followed the lives of a handful of women wrestlers showing their routines, highs, and lows, grossed over $77 million dollars in its opening weekend and, to date, over $483 million overall. It blew the cover off of a segment of the industry never before seen in such vivid detail. It rocketed its creators to almost instant stardom and added rocket fuel to an already swiftly building movement. In its wake, wrestling schools around the world opened their door to female aspirants, turning out talent of varying degrees. The creator and primary benefactor of the movement, after being roundly insulted and defamed by one of the most prominent organizations in women's wrestling, decided to come out from behind the curtain and lead the vanguard of the movement. Establishing ties with existing promotions supporting women's wrestling and opening a host of others, The Investor spent millions plumbing the very depths of the world's shady “wrestling schools” for talent to be developed. The centerpiece of the movement has been chosen as Queens of American Wrestling. While there are doubters residing in the ivory towers of wrestling, there are many who believe a storm is coming, that this could very well be the age of the queens......

…...the Queens of Chaos.

I can't hold off on this anymore. I know there are errors somewhere but I've been futzing with this for almost seven months so it's time to just let it go.

QoC is a futuristic management scenario mod with a significant twist. The world has changed. One promotion, focused around women's wrestling, is close to reaching worldwide dominance. The promotion is heavily capitalized with an awesome locker room environment....but there are chinks in that shiny armor. Besides an absolutely massive payroll, the promotion is also trying to find a way to destroy a rival, knowing any talent they release will go straight to their rival (who are hurting as a result of high level defections and one particular roster raid, forcing the hiring of a new (less capable) booker and several workers who would not have been considered previously.

The mod is intended to be run as owner and booker (since owner goals will get you fired within two years, by design) of QAW, though all other promotions (save QAW's children) are also up for grabs. Dan Stone Sr. retired and left the reins of NOTBPW to his little girl, Victoria. Using her exploding popularity in several storylines, the promotion rose to National in December of 2009 (so as the game starts, they have to pad their roster, somewhat to the detriment of your rival promotion).

QAW's child promotions (and allied promotions as well) find themselves flush with cash with rapid growth plans. However, one of QAW's challenges is that as a result of the events that led to its creation, it secured several relatively short term broadcast agreements from every corner of the globe. Problem is, the promotion isn't yet popular enough to satisfy ALL of those broadcasters (most, but not all). Your roster is extremely large but full to the brim with undeveloped talent. You have a dozen "shooting star" type talents brewing in various development territories, waiting for their shot. (Pro tip: Let 'em marinate for a year before you call them up. They're shooting stars for a reason). The top of your card is aging and perhaps close to retiring but they're capable and over and can still go.

Some suggestions:

- The greatest overt challenge in the mod is AAA. You're staring down the barrel of a flamethrower with your Sunday best gasoline underwear on. The greatest overall challenge in the mod is QAW.

MASSIVE thanks to fusionfreak, ShadowedFlames and cappyboy (I did your girls good, didn't I? ;)), Clarity, jtlant, Trell, ReapeR (every new promotion belt (and one of the old ones) is his work), praguepride, Astil, Apupunchau, and everyone who contributed in my long winded thread. Some of the stuff will be released in the first update in September (which should include about 30 rookie workers (many of whom are children of existing workers) and 8 promotions, including WLW-USA as well as a very large "real world" injury file).

And of course, many thanks to bobinc for hosting. You can find the mod at bobinc.net. :)

bah, found an error already.

You'll notice that someone on 5SSW's roster has a written contract. This was supposed to be explained across several workers' bios (in Adam Ryland style) but I forgot to do it. So here's what happened.

In an early version of the mod, 'The Crush Gals' tag team consisted of Megumi Nakajima and Otsune Tsumura. But testing showed that those two losses really dinged 5 Star badly and stifled their growth rate. So I rethought things and came up with the following:

In exchange for agreeing to a working agreement, 5SSW traded Gemmei Oonishi and shared Megumi Nakajima with QAW and got cash and the long term exclusive services of Otsune Tsumura (with some of the cash going to offset her cost). This basically allowed 5 Star to secure the services of one of their young core members, increase the value of a worker they have (Nakajima) and secure their future viability and access to more workers they can make use of (via talent trade) while at the same time adding to the potential list of '5 Star Alumni' who 'went big'.

In similar fashion, EWA "traded" Karen Bilous to QAW for Aud D'Hoffryn and cash. Karen is really a better fit with UEW than EWA and Aud fits EWA to a T. Typically, if you run with 'New Worker Generation' on 'High', a women's worker is generated in Europe the first year (often a Middleweight brawler type) and she signs with EWA from the start so this makes up for the loss of Miss Information.

Oh, and NOTBPW with 'The Investor' is the closest thing to god mode that probably exists in TEW. The presence of Lauren Easter and the working agreement with QAW and USPW...well, I'm sure I don't need to spell it out. :p

EDIT: And big thanks to Comradebot for his EWA diary that I used as a basis for EWA's role.

<p>Looking through the editor, so far only spotted a couple of things that might need your attention, Remi. I'll leave them at your discretion, but here they are:</p><p> </p><p>

For Indigo Rose, you have all the areas set to "available," but don't even mention the reason this counteracts the bio's description of her fear of flying. I'll likely tack on a sentence on my copy about how she has to be ferried across the ocean on a boat to wrestle in the US/Canada/Mexico/Japan/Australia because of said fear of flying (thank your diary for that little work-around), but it's something you might want to check on in case anyone else wants to point it out.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, I'm interested for your take on Sterling Silver's availability to wrestle in Mexico despite the bio saying otherwise. I'm certain your rationale trumps mine, but I'll admit to a touch of curiosity.</p><p> </p><p>

Good call, as well, on noting the Devil's Disciples as a team in the d-base; I think that's one detail I forgot when I sent it to you. Now to just envision what their finisher is in my mind.... <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: Is it just me, or does QAW not have a default January PPV?</p>

I used the 'mass edit' feature to make all the women available in all areas. I didn't change Indigo Rose because by the time I started plotting the diary, most of the workers were 'done' (or so I thought. See the multi-bios omission for whether that was true <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />). I should've put the train/cruise ship thing in her bio but whiffed on it.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="ShadowedFlames" data-cite="ShadowedFlames" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="27750" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Also, I'm interested for your take on Sterling Silver's availability to wrestle in Mexico despite the bio saying otherwise. I'm certain your rationale trumps mine, but I'll admit to a touch of curiosity.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Think of it this way. You have a chance to work for the largest women's promotion in the world. They tell you they'd like to send you to their dev promotion in Mexico since that audience would be most likely to appreciate your character. What do you say? No?</p><p> </p><p> Honestly, Rose and Silver got caught in the crossfire of my blind hatred for area limits for the women. This is an area that TEW doesn't really mesh well with reality. If Rachel Summerlyn (or any young, green worker) were offered a chance to do a tour with NEO (or any of the other regular joshi promotions), they'd do it. No questions asked, usually. This, despite the fact that they had never worked that area before (and thus, were only available in the US & Canada or something). At first, I was just going to release with just 'Restrictions off' and have each worker stick to their home area. But restrictions off is a toggle so if someone wanted to play with 'real' restrictions, it would basically mean that, say ZEN (who uses women alongside the men) or anyone in Europe or the UK, wouldn't have access to the vast majority of the talent in the world (who are largely based in the US, Canada, or Japan). Plus, it made things unstable financially as the smaller promotions (like the aforementioned Zen) often got saddled with travel expense requests. So I did both. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="ShadowedFlames" data-cite="ShadowedFlames" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="27750" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>EDIT: Is it just me, or does QAW not have a default January PPV?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> QAW has no January PPV because, I, um, ran outta graphics. *cough* Heck, Genesis uses a graphic I had from my LFC diary in 07. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> But honestly, I figured it would be good to let folks play around for a month before creating it. As it stands, the day the mod starts, you hafta book the A show. For similar reasons, I deleted the starting storylines I had because I couldn't pick the "important" ones (they're all important in my mind <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) and there were too damn many of 'em (each title for each child promotion plus 11 for QAW <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> ).</p><p> </p><p> Oh and it's also why I didn't include a finisher list. I felt I was taking enough liberties in kind of directing what should be done in the mod that I really needed to let folks use their imaginations as much as possible. I figure I'll use the diary to show folks the way I envisioned things but it's quite alright if they don't see it the same way. I'll give a little hint though. The existing C-Verse workers with QAW specific alts or alter egos, tend to be those with huge plans for them (at least in my mind as I was putting things together).</p><p> </p><p> Oh and mike b, she tends to go North of the Border in week 1 or 2.</p><p> </p><p> Oh yeah and I considered a screen/graphics mod for this but nixed it. I've leaned on so many people for this already, I didn't want to ask for any more stuff. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

It was supposed to be a shadowy type figure that people don't really know who it is (so even gender isn't known). But the person behind the character is fairly well known in international business circles (it's just not known WHO yet). So that user character is basically a blank canvas the player can adjust to their own specs. It's a toned down copy of the user character I tend to use most often.</p><p> </p><p> Which workers don't have pics? I'm seeing all of them.</p>

Interesting to see what happens 10 years down the road or longer. With far more women workers being generated i can see a time when womens wrestling will surpass the mens and in fact some of the male only promotions possibly being driven out of business. Also those promotions that have both men and women i can see the women taking front seat in matches and men on the roster(those left) getting fewer matches.</p>

Can i just ask why all of the QAW roster has 10 year contracts?

Is that because the game is designed to play as QAW, and the contracts just make it easier to play as them, as you can keep all your stars?

Check the contracts in the editor as they can be different and may not be assigned right, because the editor doesn't check the contract pictures so it will say all god when every worker may not have a contract picture. Might have made the contracts before the picture or maybe changed the picture name or any other number of things.

Yes and yes. It has little to do with wanting to keep your stars and more to do with having to keep them (cutting them would be VERY expensive and when you're bleeding a half million (or more) a month, that can be a very bad idea).

The intent was to create a promotion really high on hype and anticipation and potential, but walking a razor's edge financially. It makes it prohibitively expensive to start firing people. I wanted it so that you couldn't 'future endeavor' half the roster without serious repercussions. Think of it kinda like a pseudo WCW. Everyone's given these big, expansive exclusive deals that don't make sense in the short term, but could pay off HUGE in the long term (if you can just get from here to there).

Exactly. That's intended to both bolster QAW's somewhat precarious situation (sink or swim, you can't just float) as well as impact AAA. I had to tone down the promotion relationship since when they were 'At war', during watcher sims, QAW basically decimated AAA and left them with not enough workers to put on shows (Black Widow, Helen Bach, Junko, and a couple others were left behind but pretty much everyone else was poached). I didn't want AAA to get killed, I wanted to let them blow in the wind and suffer and turn into an irrelevant sanctuary for the less than capable (because all the 'good' workers are in one promotion). I also wanted to foster a kind of behind the scenes OVW vibe (where workers who aren't signed to dev deals can still work and be seen and possibly earn a dev deal - ala Serena Deeb).

But since I like you mike, I'll drop another hint. In a month's time, you automatically get a worker who is really very good....but you might not be able to keep her. You'll see why when she debuts (only you get her, if you want her) if you check her 'Personal' tab. At the end of the year, you also get 'the Mistress of the Backbreaker' too, so you only have to exist for the first year and things get better from there. But if you signed (Unstoppable) Tai, she can be very good in your product. Brute/Menace FTW! :p
