Good to see that Skabb still fears success. Good gravy, if I ever get a record of 3 wins over .500, I'm fairly certain Maxx would go insane. lol

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, this is the time for those who would shine in The League's greatest spotlight to prove themselves. Hello once again, League fans and wrestlers alike! Tori Montgomery here, ready to get you caught up and ready for next week!

Some shuffling of the divisional standings, some minor tweaks to the top six, and some narrowing of deficits mean that we are far from done yet. After the chaos from the card last week, let's look at the fallout and see where we stand....

BY THE NUMBERS

LEAGUE LEADERS: STAMINA

1. Robbie Maynard

2. Shawn Arrows

3. Nuclear Templeton

4. Diamond

5. SGRaaize

LEAGUE LEADERS: RESILIENCE

1. Tarik Nolan

2. The Phoenix

3. Scott Stevens

4. Maxx Skabb

5. Super Century

PREDICTION CENTRAL

Once again, six was the number of the day, as five people tied for that mark, including the top four members of the prediction table. Only change in the top five is that the tie from last week is broken, as you'll see below:

1. I effin rule: 60 points

2. Prophet: 56 points

3. Tori Montgomery: 55 points

4. Derek_b: 54 points

5. moon_lit_tears: 53 points

6 (tie). Masterded, Ranson: 50 points

8. SeanMcG: 47 points

9. Jman2k3: 46 points

10 (tie). Dangrel, Wrestling Century: 41 points

12. Jaded: 33 points

13. TheKenwyne: 30 points

14. Toasty: 4 points

15. Arrows: 3 points

With a slight change to the playoff prediction this season, I can confirm that there is a maximum of 36 points available for the remainder of Season Two. I'll cover the prediction format for this season when that time comes.

The Kinki region of Japan hosts The League after the holiday break, as the Oriental tour makes its fourth stop, this time in Osaka. Same rules apply as last week, and with three clinch scenarios at work, we could see a guaranteed lock for the playoffs this week.

WEEK ELEVEN: OSAKA, JAPAN (Japan—Kinki)

(Strong Style match, Strict Rules Enforcement, ref bumps allowed)

Ly Quang Bao (4-7, 12%) vs. Super Century (3-8, 15%)

Current Odds: Century Even (favorite), Bao 10-9

First meeting between these two, and likely the only meeting given Bao's intent on leaving after this season. I have Century ahead in all categories, and think that Vegas is giving Bao too much credit. I'm picking Century, though it comes after a bit of a fight.

Tori's Pick: Super Century, via pinfall (Century Splash), 13:00, C+

Shawn Arrows (3-8, 9%) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (2-9, 19%)

Current Odds: Pick 'em (no favorite)

I'm a bit flummoxed as to this one, folks. Arrows should have no chance in this one, but Vegas seems to like him this week. Nonetheless, I'm picking Demonio to try to save some face in this nightmare of a season he's having.

Tori's Pick: El Demonio de Sangre, via pinfall (Fuego Infernal), 12:20, C

Nuclear Templeton (7-4, 14%) vs. Diamond (5-6, 15%)

Current Odds: Pick 'em (no favorite)

By my reckoning, Diamond is the slight underdog in this due to Nuclear having a win over her last season. Quite simply, she needs this win to keep her playoff hopes alive, while Nuclear needs a win to basically guarantee his spot in the playoffs. Close match, but I have to give the nod to Templeton here—this could be Match of the Night, folks.

Tori's Pick: Nuclear Templeton, via pinfall (Armageddon Lariat), 18:40, A

Robbie Maynard (5-6, 18%) vs. Tarik Nolan (7-4, 12%)

Current Odds: Nolan 3-4 (favorite), Maynard 7-5

Despite Maynard leading the career series 2-0, he's still the underdog in this match? It doesn't add up...but then again, Nolan is 3-0 against the top two wrestlers this season. Factor in that Maynard is still a bit shaken up from the match last week, and Nolan could quite easily break the skid he's had against Maynard here.

Tori's Pick: Tarik Nolan, via pinfall (Regulator), 12:00, C

Sebastian Moore (8-3, 18%) vs. Sean (9-2, 15%)

Current Odds: Pick 'em (No favorite)

In all honestly, this is the match that people will be coming to see. Two division leaders facing off, with playoff implications at stake all around. A Sean win locks him into the postseason, a Moore win all but does it for him. I don't see either man backing down here, and I have to give the slightest of edges to the League veteran in this one. Sean maintains his Gamma Division lead, gets to double-digit wins, and locks a playoff berth. Another contender for Match of the Night.

Tori's Pick: Sean, via submission (Modified Figure Four), 18:00, A

SGRaaize (5-6, 16%) vs. The Phoenix (8-3, 17%)

Current Odds: Pick 'em (no favorite)

I actually have Raaize as a slight favorite here, but the difference is minimal at best. Both men, quite simply, need a win to stay in the hunt for their division's title, though Phoenix has that potential wild card berth to fall back on. However, I'm not sure Phoenix will go quietly into the night here, and having beaten Raaize last season, I think he can do it again.

Tori's Pick: The Phoenix, via submission (Eternal Requiem), 14:20, C+

Maxx Skabb (6-5, 20%) vs. Scott Stevens (6-5, 15%)

Current Odds: Pick 'em (no favorite)

This one is simply about survival. A loss basically means that you're knocked out of the divisional hunt and need the wild card to make the postseason...and given the stranglehold the Gamma Division has on both spots, that's tricky at best. It boils down, in my opinion, to who wants it more, and I think Skabb does—he definitely needs it more than Stevens here.

Tori's Pick: Maxx Skabb, via pinfall (Solitary Confinement), 19:20, B+

Thor Hammerskald (3-8, 18%) vs. Johnny Triumph (7-4, 18%)

Current Odds: Triumph 4-5 (favorite), Hammerskald 9-7

Triumph is in better physical shape, has a far better ground game to make up for his shortcomings in the power department, and is in better cardio shape. I think Vegas has this one dead on. Triumph wins and sets himself up for a potential clinch next week.

Tori's Pick: Johnny Triumph, via submission (Horns of VIctory), 11:10, C-

Our final week in Japan is next week; who will be looking to secure a spot in the playoffs? We'll find out then; until then, this is Tori Montgomery...so long from ringside!

Ly Quang Bao (4-7, 12%) vs. Super Century (3-8, 15%)

Shawn Arrows (3-8, 9%) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (2-9, 19%)

Nuclear Templeton (7-4, 14%) vs. Diamond (5-6, 15%)

Robbie Maynard (5-6, 18%) vs. Tarik Nolan (7-4, 12%)

Sebastian Moore (8-3, 18%) vs. Sean (9-2, 15%)

SGRaaize (5-6, 16%) vs. The Phoenix (8-3, 17%)

Maxx Skabb (6-5, 20%) vs. Scott Stevens (6-5, 15%)

Thor Hammerskald (3-8, 18%) vs. Johnny Triumph (7-4, 18%)

WEEK TWELVE TEASERS:

 • Match of the Night ran a hair over 27 minutes, and was the sixth in one participant's League career.
 • Four people tasted blood this week, two in the same match!
 • The runner-up for Match of the Night ran just over 14 minutes; though given who was in it I'm not surprised that it rated that high....
 • One of the matches featured a ref bump.
 • Finally, one of the matches ended with a signature move that I never expected would actually result directly in a win.

Wait, a show posted before Sunday evening? I must be sick or something.... :p

Season Two, Week Twelve

Osaka, Japan

January 8, 2011

THE LEAGUE: WEEK TWELVE

As the requisite pyro erupts within the Kyocera Dome Osaka, the crowd starts cheering as we inch ever closer to the postseason. As the explosions die down, we cut to ringside and our usual announcing team.

Bob Sinclair: Welcome, everyone, to week twelve of The League! Bob Sinclair, here as always with Frankie Garnett, and Frankie, tonight we could see our first postseason berth clinches!

Frankie Garnett: Yes indeed, Bob, two divisions could be clinched tonight, plus at least a wild card berth in the Gamma Division. We could walk out of Osaka with half the playoff field being known!

Bob Sinclair: In order to get to those matches, we need to get the show on the road. Amelia, if you'll do the honors...?

Ly Quang Bao (4-7) vs. Super Century (3-8)

As the beat continues, he sprints down the aisle, leaping onto the apron and somersaulting over the top rope, coming to a halt in the middle of the ring and looking ready to fight as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, our opening contest this week is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Bien Hoa, Vietnam, weighing 177 pounds...Ly Quang Bao!

Bob Sinclair: Bao has been mathematically eliminated from the Alpha Division race, but he still has an outside chance at a wild card berth.

Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four turnbuckles, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: For Diamond, it's simple. A win keeps her in the hunt for the Delta Division title. A loss essentially ends any hope she has of making the playoffs.

Robbie Maynard (5-6) vs. Tarik Nolan (7-4)

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Bob Sinclair: Nolan cannot clinch anything tonight, but a win here puts him in position next week to possibly clinch a wild card spot.

Frankie Garnett: If you'd have asked me at the beginning of the season whether three people from the Gamma Division would make the playoffs, I'd have told you no. I still think it shouldn't have happened, but the possibility is there.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds, he is the current Delta Division leader...Johnny Triumph!

Finally, one of the matches ended with a signature move that I never expected would actually result directly in a win.

Guessing that'd be Maxx winning with Jailbreak? Of all the things I ever expected to see, Maxx winning with that move was not one of them. lol

He's just showing me up `cause I gave him a new set up move. :p

People can complain all they like about the chairshot, fact is Diamond started it by going all c0ckpunchy on Nuclear first. There's something about being punched in the nuts that makes Nuclear angry... and when he gets angry, he hurts people. And when he hurts people, he wins matches. I'm sure if it were possible to get all c0ckpunchy back at Diamond he would've done that, but she cheated by being a woman. :p

Also, in your faces everyone! Nuclear forgot to choke this season! :p

Me too! Allowing a low blow like that to pass without a DQ was not cool. And the second one after Nuclear equalised things... not cool either. At least he didn't hit Diamond in the jewels... :p

If you're gonna do that she at least deserves dinner first. :p

Psh, Nuclear has better things to spend money on. Like steroids. Did I say steroids? I meant injectable protein, caffeine, multivitamin shakes that in no way break the rules. Because Nuclear never breaks the rules. Unless you hit him in the balls.

I wonder how much further it is before I can give Nuclear a whole load of new power moves... can't be too far away, and when that happens everyone is gonna be introduced to a whole new level of pain. Level 2. :)
