Normally, I'd disallow your predictions, Sean, but as this week has been hectic due to scheduling, I'll allow it this time. ;)

Season Two, Week Fourteen

Mexico City, Mexico

January 24, 2011

It is a festive mood as the pyro goes off and a capacity crowd of 16,500 do their best to blow the roof off of Arena México. Dueling chants can be heard throughout the arena as we head to ringside and our normal announce team.

Bob Sinclair: Welcome, everyone, to the final week of the regular season! Two divisions are still up for grabs this evening, as well as officially determining the seeding for the playoffs!

Frankie Garnett: Look, enough talk, Bob. We've waited more than a week for this...why is that, anyway?

Bob Sinclair: Why is what?

Frankie Garnett: Why did we have to wait until a Monday night to be on the air?

Bob Sinclair: Flex scheduling, Frankie. It's not the NFL's sole property anymore!

ALPHA DIVISION: SGRaaize (6-7) vs. Robbie Maynard (5-8)

Frankie Garnett: Oh, good grief.

Bob Sinclair: In any event, let's not waste any more time. Amelia, take it away!

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as one of the League's initial playoff wrestlers emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: Our opening contest is an Alpha Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds...Robbie Maynard!

Bob Sinclair: After a 9-5 record last season, Maynard just hasn't been able to really get on track this season. A win would do wonders for his mental state, I think.

Frankie Garnett: Personally, I think the sooner he gets done this season, the better off he'll be.

A Portugesa hits the speakers to a rousing chorus of jeers as the Tron displays the national flag of Portugal. Emerging from the entryway, he turns to salute his homeland's flag before calmly walking to the ring, ignoring the fans as he slides into the ring and bounces off the ropes a couple of times to stretch.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Torres Vedras, Portugal, weighing 231 pounds...SGRaaize!

Bob Sinclair: I've heard rumors that Raaize is working on a new finisher, something to complement the Portugal Lariat. Any ideas?

Frankie Garnett: Probably a sleeper, given that he puts the audience to sleep half the time.

Bob Sinclair: ...that's cold, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: At least he did better than last season, Bob. Maybe next year, after all...

The Phoenix (10-3) vs. Super Century (4-9)

Bob Sinclair: Coming up next, Frankie, is the first of the matches that will go towards determining the seeding for the playoffs, and also the Gamma Division title as well.

Frankie Garnett: Oh, no, don't tell me that fat waste of flesh is coming out here.

Bob Sinclair: He is, Frankie, and it's real simple for him. If he wins, he locks up the Gamma Division and the top seed in the playoffs as well.

Frankie Garnett: If ever we needed a miracle, this is where we need it.

Bob Sinclair: Only you, Frankie...

Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four turnbuckles, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: Century hasn't been very impressive in his debut season, but has already said that he would return for season three.

Frankie Garnett: Hopefully he returns with some personality!

The opening chords of "The Instinct" hit as the entryway is bathed in a fiery orange light. Twin pillars of flame erupt from the entrance stage, one per side, as The League's largest member walks to the ring. As he approaches the steps, he pauses, bowing his head for a few seconds before taking a deep breath and releasing a shout to the skies above as he climbs onto the apron and steps between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds, he is the Gamma Division leader...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: A win and he's in, folks. If Phoenix wins, he clinches the Gamma Division title no matter Sean's result later on.

Frankie Garnett: And if this happens, I will continue to maintain that there is something illegal afoot, Bob! There's no way a perennial loser last season can be the best in the regular season just four months later!

Bob Sinclair: Hammerskald has had a rough time of it this season; though I hear he's already planning his approach for next season.

Disturbed's "The Night" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: Skabb showed a marked improvement over last season, which was a 5-9 campaign for him. He fell just short of winning the division this time out, though.

AFTER THE SHOW....

Season Two: Postseason

Mexico City, Mexico

January 24, 2011

Two hours after the show went off air, the arena's security cameras caught sight of Ly Quang Bao walking out to the parking lot, an arrogant smirk on his face as he ignores the well-wishes of the backstage crew. His season here is over, he has a new, better job lined up. Why should he deal with these imbeciles?

His mind is close to 3,000 miles away, thinking of how he will make an impression in his first shows with PGHW. Thus, he never sees the movement that precedes a chair shot on the back of his skull. He collapses in a heap, and is set upon by two people, who can be easily identified as Diamond and Shawn Arrows. Both attackers are wielding steel chairs, though thanks to the inability of these security cameras to record audio, we cannot hear what Diamond is shouting to Bao. It almost looks like "Nedokius," whatever that means. It doesn't match any common words that come to mind.

A raised hand from Arrows stops Diamond from delivering a seventh chair shot to the base of the skull, as he points to Bao's legs. A sick, twisted grin crosses Diamond's face as Arrows lines up a chair shot on the exposed knee of Bao. Meanwhile, Diamond has opened her chair just slightly and has wedged Bao's left ankle into it. With a nod from Diamond, both attackers let loose simultaneously. Diamond leaps into the air, bringing all of her weight down on the chair and severely damaging the ankle of Bao. At the same time, Arrows connects with a vile chair shot to the knee, and even with the low resolution the viewer can see the kneecap dislocate from the impact. Bao's face is contorted with pain as the two attackers survey the carnage they have wrought.

Diamond looks like she wants to do more, perhaps injure the other leg, but the appearance of Nuclear Templeton deters her from this. With his face turned away from the camera, we can't tell what he says, but it's apparently enough to please both Arrows and Diamond, who smile and turn away, leaving Templeton alone with his opponent from earlier this evening. Templeton walks around Bao slowly, and as he turns to face the camera the viewers can see an evil grin coming from the Alpha Division champion as he grabs one of the discarded steel chairs and wraps it around the neck of Bao. A moment later, Bao is lifted helplessly into the air by Templeton, who charges at the nearest concrete wall...and lawn darts Bao, chair-first, into the concrete! Bao falls to the ground, flopping like a fish out of water as we can see something dark start to come out of his mouth. Not done, Nuclear hauls Bao up to his one good leg, keeping a hold on the arm. A moment later, Nuclear pulls Bao towards him by the arm, lashing his right arm out in the process and catching Bao flush with an Armageddon Lariat to the already injured neck of the departing Bao.

As Bao rolls around slowly in pain, Templeton kicks Bao below the belt one time before spitting on the fallen figure of Bao and walking away. The last thing we see before the footage cuts off is Templeton driving away, giving a one-fingered salute to Bao as he leaves the arena proper....

Thus, the maximum of 12 available for this show.

(Regular rules, 2 out of 3 falls, ref bumps are allowed)

Here is the worksheet to work off of, folks.

QUARTERFINAL 1: (3) Johnny Triumph (9-5, 29% Mid West US) vs. (6) Tarik Nolan (10-4, 30% South UK)

QUARTERFINAL 2: (4) Nuclear Templeton (9-5, 24% Tohoku--Japan) vs. (5) Sean (11-3, 25% South UK)

SEMIFINAL 1: Highest Remaining Seed (3, 4, or 5) vs. (2) Sebastian Moore (10-4, 24% North UK)

SEMIFINAL 2: Lowest Remaining Seed (4, 5, or 6) vs. (1) The Phoenix (11-3, 38% Mid-Atlantic US)

FIFTH PLACE CONSOLATION: Losers of the two quarterfinal matches

THIRD PLACE CONSOLATION: Losers of the two semifinal matches

LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP: Winners of the two semifinal matches.

You'll note that because of the byes, The Phoenix and Sebastian Moore cannot finish worse than fourth place. Keep this in mind when you make your picks.

You won't need to show your work like I'm about to, I'm just giving you an example.

QF 1: Nolan def. Triumph

QF 2: Sean def. Templeton

SF 1: Sean (highest remaining seed) def. Moore

SF 2: Phoenix def. Nolan (lowest remaining seed)

5TH PLACE: Templeton def. Triumph

3RD PLACE: Nolan def. Moore

CHAMPIONSHIP: Phoenix def. Sean

Thus, my predictions are as follows:

#6: (3) Johnny Triumph

#5: (4) Nuclear Templeton

#4: (2) Sebastian Moore

#3: (6) Tarik Nolan

#2: (5) Sean

LEAGUE CHAMPION: (1) The Phoenix

If you have any questions, feel free to PM ShadowedFlames and he'll be willing to work with you with getting your predictions in order. We'll see you later this week for the League Championship!

PAGES WILL BE UPDATED TOMORROW, EVERYONE. I'LL POST DEADLINES AFTER PAGES HAVE BEEN UPDATED.

Deer antler? Ohh, that's gotta be way easier to obtain than the human horn I've been harvesting. Probably more effective, too. :p

Also kind of sad that Maxx parked on the wrong side of the parking lot, so he couldn't "accidentally" run over Bao with his classic '66 Chevelle. Ahh well, saves me money on the dents. lol

I find it very hard to pick against Nuclear for some reason... but he's got an even shout against anyone in some close popularity matches, and with an arsenal unlike anyone else I can see him making progress. But The Phoenix is looking almost unstoppable in this one... is gonna be a fun night! :D

Can I take this as official, then, in lieu of you posting it in the discussion thread? Just trying to make sure I have an acccurate count for scheduling purposes. :)

SF, if I were you I'd do what I do when running a draft. PM everyone to remind them about start times and sign ups. I know I rarely notice updates to the other thread because I just look for this thread to pop-up on the main forum page... given that it's almost the only thing happening down here, I have a feeling that others do the same thing and miss things like sign ups.

Also, it's probably time to pimp this in the mafia section again. Maximum pimpage, and I'll do it all for free. :)

Of course. I had fun this year and I hope I can make the playoffs next year. Just remind me whenever you start it up again.

Likely in two to three weeks, then. I try not to waste too much time between seasons, in order to keep interest going. :D

Heading in to update web pages now before being stuck at work tomorrow for potentially another 20+ hour shift (fourth one in the last three weeks). Will update here when it's ready.

Pages have been updated.

Because I'm still a bit behind schedule-wise due to the weather, and because I have two other bi-weekly commitments coming up this week, I'm making an executive decision to carry last week's schedule to this one.

Besides, a little suspense never hurt anyone, right? ;)

If you're not one of the six who made the playoffs, my advice is to save your money until afterward, as some of you may be getting a small bonus prize (end-of-season awards) and that extra bit could mean an extra point in your stat of choice. Of course, that's my opinion.

Having said that...deadlines.

TRAINING PM'S (FOR THOSE SENDING ONE IN) ARE DUE BY SUNDAY, 30 JANUARY @ 8:00 PM EST / MONDAY, 31 JANUARY @ 1:00 AM GMT

PREDICTIONS ARE DUE BY MONDAY, 31 JANUARY @ 8:00 PM EST / TUESDAY, 1 FEBRUARY @ 1:00 AM GMT

EDIT: For those of you interested, I have finally gotten both the Season One and Season Two schedules up to date as of this moment. I've included final divisional standings on both schedules, though I have not filled in the spots in which the playoff contenders finish for this season as the matches have yet to be run. I've also made a spot for Season One's Awards, and left space for Season Two's for after the playoffs.

Alrighty cool. Can't wait for season 3 to start.:D

Oh, saw that you updated the pages, but my stats from week 14 weren't added to the latest update. Just thought I would let you know incase you missed it since I know you been very busy with work and all.

The one downside of co-modding a Mafia game at the same time: not seeing a League PM during a hasty search due to all the Words & Swords PM's. Will try to get that fixed shortly.

EDIT: ...I'm not quite sure how I managed this, but the WS2 database was correct, and my spreadsheet was not. Usually it's the inverse.

Anyhow, Jman, your page should now be correct.

All right, everyone. Say it with me.

I hate winter!!!

At work until midnight EST. Supposed to have freezing rain off and on for the next day and a half or so. Not sure if it will be safe traveling home...where all of my official League stuff is. Plus with 12-hour shifts and being stuck at work, won't be able to post the show anyway until I go home.

Playoffs have been run, though I have a story about that which I'll save until I post them just because I can. :p As soon as I am able to finish the writing and such at home, they will be posted.

Once more, I apologize for the delay, and once again...

I HATE WINTER!!!
