<p>For those that haven't seen it, this week's Humble Bundle sale is Sega themed, and includes Rome: Total War, Binary Domain, Company of Heroes and Alpha Protocol. The other games included are Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit, Medieval II: Total War, Renegade Ops, Classic Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Collection, and The Typing of the Dead: Overkill. Paying $14.99 or more will get you Total War: Shogun 2, too. Not a bad little collection here, in my opinion.</p><p> </p><p>

Certainly not GOTY worthy, but really, really solid and emotional writing. It's definitely a top indie game of the year for me though. I did. Awesome game. Don't know about the space thing though. I have some 28 GB left i think.

What's your PSN nick?

RayW1986, but I dont have a mic' or anything. Feel free to add me though. I figured out the problem with the memory space, the system needs 12GB of space to download, but it also needs the same amount to install. So really it needs 24GB. Once it is installed the download deletes itself and it's only taking 12GB of space, but you need the double space for the initial download/install.

Finally retired my 512MB graphics card that i brought in 2008 (Geforce 9800GTX+) and upgraded to a 2GB. Loving being able to use Ultra settings <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>Well, as long as my PC manages to play Skyrim and makes it look great, I'm fine. It doesn't make it look unreal like some monster pc's can, but I'm not going to set me back 1K because of that. I still get the occasional CTD but I doubt a great setup can fix that.</p><p> </p><p>

I should get back to Skyrim as I STILL didn't touch much of Dragonborn or Dawnguard, but running around randomly was so much fun. And now I had the Requiem mod installed and Undead take ages to kill with those crappy silver weapons. It's just not fun. I might resort back to Skyre, which was fine. I'll probably never go to vanilla again. Combat just needs to be quicker and deadlier.</p><p> </p><p>

List of games to play:</p><p>

- Baldur's Gate I/II (yet another run, this time the Enhanced Edition which, ironically, looks way worse than the earlier mods with widescreen)</p><p>

- Mass Effect Trilogy (haven't seen the latest DLC for ME3 yet so there's that)</p><p>

- Dark Souls: P2D (got killed a little too much in the prologue <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />)</p><p> </p><p>

Anyhow, I always just get back to Crusader Kings II and a little Skyrim. And occasionally WMMA3 if I want some music on the background. It's hard to get away from those. Why even buy more games? <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Decided to spoil myself and just (literally) bought an Xbox One with Titanfall (I was originally an "Xbox guy" but changed to the PS4, but I had a feeling I'd eventually end up with an Xbox One, I just didn't think it would be this soon but after seeing both the games already out that are exclusive for the Xbox and those that are in the pipeline, I couldn't resist) and pre-ordered Infamous: Second Son and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (I'm hoping it's not a glorified demo) so I'm looking forward to my week.

Oh, and I gave in and bought South Park a couple of days ago and haven't put it down since. This is the game every "TV game" should be based on from now on. When you can walk in on a man having intercourse with a horse, you know you're in for a ride... no pun intended.

So I bought the latest Humble Bundle which I've mentioned a few posts up, it's a Sega themed one this week, and I had my eye mostly on Binary Code and Alpha Protocol, but the first game I tried was Rome: Total War and I loved it. I then tried Medieval II: Total War and loved it even more. I can't stop playing them, and I bought the Medieval II expansion 'Kingdoms' and also found out there are some pretty cool mods for it (including one for Games of Thrones, which I'm hoping is good). Even if I don't play the other games now I feel I got my monies worth just with these two, and it's helped me find a new game series that I've fallen in love with!

I used to love the Total War games (especially the original Shogun) but Paradox have ruined it for me now. Every time I load M2TW I can't help thinking "not a good as Crusader Kings though, is it?". Literally the only reason to play those games, for me, is the combat system. The actual grand strategy side is just 'ugh'.

To be fair though, the combat still looks pretty awesome. I'm waiting for Rome 2 to go on ridiculous% off on Steam before I get it (50% is not ridiculous enough ¬_¬).

As for Titanfall... it looks like a game I'd enjoy playing, but I probably won't get it because by the time I feel like getting it, there'll probably be a sequel out and everyone'll be playing that. ¬_¬

My 'Playlist' looks like this:

'Favourites':

(Mostly games that can't be "finished" or that take such a long time that finishing them isn't really the point, and I play them regularly enough to keep them installed)

Anno 2070

Crusader Kings 2

Banished

Skyrim

StarDrive (not currently installed due to space issues. No pun intended)

Far Cry 3

Kerbal Space Program

Loadout

Planetside 2

Football Manager 2014

Hearthstone

Now Playing:

(Games that have an end, and I'm pretty sure I'll finish them at some point, I just haven't got there yet)

LA Noire (I know it's old now, but it was on sale recently so I picked it up)

Thief

The original Witcher (never played it, so decided I should before 3 comes out and melts my PC).

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (not currently installed because it's a bit shit)

Dark Souls (the PC port is terrible and let's be honest, I'm never going to actually finish it!)

'To Play':

(Games on my To Play category on Steam; I've bought them at some point but not got around to playing them):

Antichamber (part of a bundle, not really my sort of game but will give it a try sometime)

The Divinity games (I really loved Divine Divinity and want to finish it before I play the sequels, but... well... you've seen the rest of my list...)

Dust: An Elysian Tail (bought in a bundle, not got around to yet)

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams (see Dust)

Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod (I bought it just 'cause it was on sale. B) I know it's awesome, but... list...)

Of Orcs and Men (I feel sorry for this game. Awesome games keep getting released as soon as it gets to the top of my list).

The Swapper (see Dust).

Sooo yeaaahhh... there's a few. Every time I visit the Store page, I can hear Of Orcs and Men crying a little inside.

<p>The entire focus of Total War is about the combat not the grand strategy. In fact, it's not a grand strategy at all. It has a turn based meta game which is designed to allow you to build troops but the focus of the entire series is not diplomacy and economy. Those things are there... but they're a small part of the game on purpose. The sole purpose of the economics in the game is to fund your war effort. The game is designed to be about the micromanagement of military units on the battlefield. To rip it for that... just... makes no sense lol. It would be like complaining about all the jumping in Super Mario Brothers. </p><p> </p><p>

I played the ever loving hell out of Shogun 2. It's a masterpiece in simplicity as far as the turn based part goes. The battlefield combat was stellar. My only problem was that they charged people to add blood on the battlefield. That really got on my nerves and almost kept me from buying Rome 2. Almost.</p>

Fair enough, D. Hard to infer tone in text I guess. I suppose when I read you say "the grand strategy... ugh" I took that as you knocking it. It just wouldn't be a fair criticism if you ask me because the game isn't about that.

On Kerbal Space Program I just love it when people get into this game. It's got such an organic way of telling a story too. The story of the Kerbal. Clarty's post was fantastic i love those little things. I feel like failure is a vast majority of that game and for whatever reason the game's fans actually care about the little Kerbals on some level. It just has that... whatever it is... that makes the characters feel more alive and not just disposable little pixels that are a means to an end.

That game really is special in my opinion. If anyone with steam is on the fence I'd say try it. In an era where everything is a clone of something else (especially on steam) it's a rare gem to find something so different.

The first two are also enjoyable, but old school and without autosave (you have been warned: I stopped playing after a giant crit hit me after I didn't quicksave for 4 hours. So yeah...)</p><p> Dust: An Elysian Tail -> No idea</p><p> Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams -> No idea</p><p> Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod -> No idea</p><p> Of Orcs and Men -> No idea</p><p> The Swapper -> Got it in library because humblebundle, but no idea.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> As advice, coming from someone with a pretty high correlation when it comes to taste, I should get around to finishing the Witcher series and LA Noire (try and play the latter in one sitting to increase immersion with the story). Divinity II doesn't need devotion, at least not on easy, and is fun. Not better than Skyrim, but I like the nice voice-acting and the cosy atmosphere. KoA: Reckoning might be arguably better as RA Salvatore's no joke, but I can't judge as I didn't play much.</p><p> </p><p> Antichamber I just played for 10 minutes, but the beginning is actually enjoyable. I will probably never finish it though, even if it is just a couple of hours.</p><p> </p><p> I'm guessing that, from your list, I'll probably enjoy Banished a lot. Not that much into space-stuff, but if you like that, I'd advice that grand strategy space empire game. Forgot the name: Galaxy II something? The gfx are shitty, but who cares, right?</p>

I love the humour/references, and the voice acting is (for the most part - the guy that voices the "Oooodriinn, here boy!" guy from Witcher 2 is in there ¬_¬) brilliant. And the music in the first main town is the catchiest thing ever. Having fun with it so far.</p><p> </p><p> One of the things that I've found disappointing in RPGs I've played lately is the lack of character building. Nobody does it like Bioware... </p><p> </p><p> When I think of awesome RPG characters that I've loved and still remember, virtually all of them are from Bioware games (and most of the ones that aren't are from the Witcher series). Games like Skyrim are great, but I do love games that tell great stories. Skyrim has great player experiences, but the story mostly just gets in the way of that. The actual characters aren't very memorable (not helped by the fact that most of them seem to have come from an Ancient Rome Name Generator), they're just models that have voice acting, not much actual 'character' going on. Not to say that's Skyrim's fault, it's just hard to do in an open world setting. It's just too 'big' to have proper characters (although I've always admired GTA for doing it pretty well).</p><p> </p><p> KoA:R - from what I've played so far - actually looks promising in that regard (even if it lacks in other areas), I should give that another chance... Divinity 2 looks like it might be doing that well too. So far so good... Thinking about it, the little I've played of the original had some of that (I can't remember his actual name, but the brilliantly voice-acted insane mage guy in the first town...).</p>

<p>Bellegar? <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> From what I've heard, he'll be in the upcoming game that was recently on kickstarter called Divinity: Original Sin. I've backed it and it's in alpha now. Looks promising.</p><p> </p><p>

As for JRPG's: There's FFVII in 'HD' now, and the VIII'th as well. Ys maybe? Otherwise try emulating some of the stellar SNES titles like Lunar II (supposedly), Secret of Mana and FFV.</p>
