Texas Wrestling

Irvine Hall (Midsouth)

February (Week Four) 1979

Attendance: 4,614

Rating: 0.17 on Channel 7 Regional

The program kicked off with its now-standard opening, a camera zoomed in on a young girl kneeling beside her bed, hands folded as if in prayer. “And God bless Mother, and God bless Father. But most of all, God bless Texas!” Then the screen cut to the Lone Star Stampeder and Lawrence Grove, seated behind a desk at ringside.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/TheLoneStarStampeder.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MarvinEarnest.jpg

“Good evening and welcome Texas wrestling fans! I’m Lawrence Grove and I’m joined, as always, by the Lone Star Stampeder. Stampy, what do we have in store for our fans tonight?”

“Well Lawrence, as usual we’ve got a packed card. Our main event is sure to be a barnburner as Chief Two Eagles battles Cheatin’ Mike Barstow in a non-title match. But first, we’re headed to the ring for another stellar matchup as the Masked Patriot goes up against the leader of the Texas Outlaws, Johnny Lawless!”

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/TheMaskedPatriot.jpg VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JohnnyLawless.jpg

The Masked Patriot v. Johnny Lawless

Billy’s Take: As Patriot entered the arena, the crowd erupted into chants of “U…S…A” He slapped hands with fans at ringside and encouraged the crowd’s cheers. When Lawless came out, he argued with fans and did his best to drown out the crowd’s incessant USA chant by telling the crowd to shut up. They didn’t listen. Inside the ring this was a tremendous match. Patriot took early advantage, taking the attack to Lawless and forcing the leader of the Outlaws to the floor on several instances. But Lawless fought back and, using the combination of power and athleticism, picked up the win with the Power Lariat, obviously sending a message to the Masked Patriot’s ally – Chief Two Eagles – in the process.

Lawless d. Patriot via Power Lariat

Match Rating: B-

After the match, Mean Mark Green and Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman joined Johnny Lawless in the center of the ring. “Hope you were watchin’ Squaw Two Birds. I took your little buddy apart and barely broke a sweat.” Apparently he pushed pure testosterone, and not sweat, out of his pores because he was covered in perspiration. “But I don’t want to talk about the past. I want to talk about the future. I am the future of TWL. Me. So at Wild Side I can’t think of any better way to show my superiority than taking you down in that Indian Strap Match you challenged me to last week. Bottom line, I will walk out of Wild Side the TWL champion. Bank on it.” “Hell yeah Johnny!” Floyd spat into the microphone before Green wrestled it from his grasp. “Like me and Floyd showed last week, taking out those slimy snake-lovers Cobra and Viper, the Outlaws run Texas. Who rules?” Floyd answered exuberantly, “Outlaws rule!” C-

*************************

“Go figure. The Outlaws running their mouths about how they rule Texas. Can’t say I’m surprised by that none. Whaddya think Lawrence?”

“I think they’re the toughest group of guys I’ve ever seen assembled in one wrestling ring. But right now in the ring we’ve got another group of tough guys as the Party Animals take on the Crimson Serpent Cult for the right to battle the tag champs, Double Disaster, at Wild Side!”

TWL Tag Team Number One Contender’s Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk ‘Bone-Dogg’ Bonell) v. Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper)

Billy’s Take: The Crimson Serpent Cult came out first and, as per usual, received a slightly mixed reaction from the crowd – many of whom are loathe to cheer snake-worshipping-sadists. Go figure! But when the Party Animals came out, fans erupted into spontaneous chants of “Toga…Toga…Toga…” and randomly-yelled Animal House references – something about being fat, drunk and stupid…which on some occasions pretty accurately describes the balance of TWL fans. Inside the ring, this was a fairly open contest with each side doing quite well. The Cult worked like a well-oiled machine, slithering in and out of the ring through fluid tags. The Party Animals were much more explosive, particularly Bone-Dogg, who powerslammed Cobra so violently it looked like he’d drive him through the mat. In the end, the Party Animals emerged with a somewhat surprising win after Cobra missed a roundhouse kick and Chase rolled him up for the quick three count.

Once again, the Cult seemed despondent and stalked to the back after their loss.

Party Animals d. Crimson Serpent Cult via pinfall

Match Rating: C

“Woo wee. That was one heck of a match. Cain’t say I saw that a-comin’! Now fans, we’ve got a very special announcement, so let’s head down to the ring with Lawrence Grove.”

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MarvinEarnest.jpg

“Texas Wrestling fans, I have a very special announcement to make regarding our huge supershow, Wild Side, scheduled for Sunday night. That night, one of our matches will be a special attraction. In this four-on-four match, one of our TWL wrestlers will win…a new car!” Grove indicated toward a garage-like door in a corner of Irvine Hall. A spotlight followed his gaze and showed a brand-new, cream-colored, 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/1978LincolnTowncar.jpg

Holy cow. “The teams will be ‘Old School’ Edmond Jackson, the Trailer Park Kid, Luis Montero, and ‘The Mayne Event’ Kenny Maynard against Cheatin’ Mike Barstow, ‘New School’ Jason Jackson, Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman, and Mean Mark Green. The man who earns the pinfall or submission for his team will become the owner of that cream-colored beauty. To whet your appetite, our next match will feature four of those eight men as ‘Old School’ Edmond Jackson and the Trailer Park Kid will take on Mean Mark Green and ‘New School’ Jason Jackson!” Interestingly, as the spotlight moved away from the car back to the ring, it passed just briefly over the man who's interferred in matches the last several weeks...C+

‘Old School’ Edmond Jackson/Trailer Park Kid w/Debbie Dallas v. Mean Mark Green/‘New School’ Jason Jackson

Billy’s Take: The four men barely waited for the bell, or for Debbie Dallas to finish her titillating sashay down to the ring, to get this match going. I had a difficult time controlling these guys in the early going as all four wanted to be in the ring simultaneously. But eventually I restored order and the match became the hard-hitting type of contest we expect here in TWL. All the fellas hit their regular spots. Edmond Jackson wrenched his son in a cauliflower-ear causing headlock while Jason struggled against it in vain. But once ‘New School’ gained the upper hand, he was more than willing to use cheap shots, like an ‘accidental’ low blow and hair-pulling, to achieve success. When Green came in, he coolly worked over the Trailer Park Kid, obviously frustrating his exuberant former partner. But the Kid responded with a flurry of offense, connecting on a Double-Wide Dive that would have certainly ended the match but for the timely interference of Jason Jackson. After that, the match went out of control. The other four wrestlers scheduled to take part in the eight-man match stormed the ring. The interference of ‘The Mayne Event’ Kenny Maynard, Luis Montero, Cheatin’ Mike Barstow, and Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman forced me to call for the bell and rule this match a double disqualification.

Jackson/Trailer Park Kid drew with Green/Jackson due to double disqualification

Match Rating: C

“Well fans, if the eight-man match on Sunday is anywhere near as exciting as that one, we’re all in for quite a treat!”

“Couldn’t ‘a said it better myself. Now for our main event, we’ve got a real smokin’ matchup as Cheatin’ Mike Barstow takes on the TWL champ, Chief Two Eagles, in a non-title match.”

*************************

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChiefTwoEagles1977_alt.jpg VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/CheatinMikeBarstow.jpg

Non-Title Match: Chief Two Eagles v. Cheatin’ Mike Barstow

Billy’s Take: Barstow, already in the ring following his participation in the eight-man melee, awaited the champion greedily. When Chief Two Eagles emerged, the champion strode regally down to the ring, the eagle feathers in his resplendent headdress shimmering from the stage lighting. He took a brief moment to remove one and hand it to a screaming fan at ringside. Barstow, apparently itching to get the match started, dropped to the floor and attacked the champion before he could remove his regalia. Barstow controlled the early going, nearly gaining pinfalls on a series of rollups and then wrenching in a painful-looking submission hold. But once Chief Two Eagles rebounded, Barstow resorted, as usual, to underhanded tactics. These two went back and forth, with a seemingly innate understanding of one another’s arsenal of holds and counterholds. The ending came when Luis Montero strode to the ring, one hand in a mock-cast, reminding Barstow of his own interference in recent Montero matches. Barstow leapt on the bottom rope and screamed at Montero. This instantaneous distraction was all Chief Two Eagles needed. He rolled up Barstow from behind and hooked his leg to gain the quick pinfall.

Two Eagles d. Barstow via pinfall

Match Rating: B

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChiefTwoEagles1977_alt.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/CheatinMikeBarstow.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JohnnyLawless.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/LuisMontero1977.jpg

Before Chief Two Eagles could catch his breath, Johnny Lawless ran down to the ring, leather strap in hand, and attacked the TWL champion. He brutalized the Indian warrior, making his back bright red as he repeatedly lashed him. Meanwhile, Cheatin' Mike Barstow went after Montero and the two brawled while security emerged to both break up the Barstow and Montero fight and to rescue Chief Two Eagles from the vicious onslaught. B+

“Well fans, we’re out of time tonight. Remember to come to Irvine Hall on Sunday when we see these four men, and many more, in action. Until then, goodnight and God bless Texas!”

2/3 borman. Though you should get bonus points for perfectly reasoning through my choice of giving the Party Animals a win (though Viper was uber-pissed at having to job). Likewise, your reasoning of giving Barstow the win was perfectly logical, but I found good chemistry there and want to save it for a future Chief/Barstow feud without tainting the current Lawless/Chief storyline.

From the Notebook of Referee Billy

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/TWL.jpg

Finally, Texas Wrestling fans, we're headed for our huge February supershow at Irvine Hall. Here's the card that Stampy has announced:

Pain v. Professor Nero

Nero and Pain have a long history, but this will be the first time the former teammates meet one-on-one. Will the powerful Pain prevail or will the nefarious Nero emerge victorious?

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

Another match with a past as the Patriot and Mustafa have battled throughout the United States. Who will win in this battle of America versus the World?

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

This promises to be an outright brawl. Will Professor Nero's charges come out on top or will the animalistic Game Hunters prevail?

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

The Party Animals have been on quite a roll, dethroning the former champs, the Crimson Serpent Cult, last week. Can they win again or will Double Disaster retain their recently-won belts?

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

Flip a coin. Any of the men in this match could walk out with the keys to that sweet cream-colored Towncar.

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

Chief Two Eagles took the TWL title from Lawless back in December. Since then, Lawless has been hot on his heels seeking to regain his lost gold. Will Lawless take back the title or will Two Eagles walk out the champion once more?

Quick Picks:

Pain v. Professor Nero

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

Pain v. Professor Nero

Pain may look good in the loss, but he is in no way ready to go over Nero.

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

I'll look at this one from a size factor. The Pact has 2 monsters, Giant Grimsley is only one.

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

The Demons are very green, but neither teams been seen too much lately. I'll go with NZGH.

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

Didn't DD just win the titles a month ago? I dont think it'll be that fast of a turnaround. May just be the first match of a series though.

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

(Extra point for choosing the specific victor)

As much fun as it would be to see F-Bomb in a Lincoln, I'm gonna pick the other side and Montero getting the victory.

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

Come on, its an Indian Strap Match! Chief gets the win. Lawless is still young enough that he'll get his big run someday.

Pain v. Professor Nero

- The Nefarious Nero finds a way to outwit and outsmart his former protege.

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

- Relatively meaningless match. Send the fans home happy with a momentary victory over Communism.

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

- I think the Demons will be slotted in as the next challengers for the title. The NZGH can build up overness for a while longer.

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

- The Samoan Surf Squad continue to look dangerous as they legitimize their reign as tag team champions.

I'm going to give this to Barstow when he manages to cheat his own team mates out of the car. I kind of wanted to give TPK this but... what's he gonna do with a Town Car in a trailer park?

- I think the Chief stands tall to send the fans home happy and Lawless into a further, deeper, darker place.

I absolutely love CMB in this dynasty, and seeing him rolling out in a pimped new car would be golden. We all know the heels will be backstabbing each other at every turn for the ride while the faces won't, but if anyone can carry off such a dastardly deed successfully, it's the guy with Cheatin' in his name.

C2E's reign is just getting started, and I think he'll vanquish at least a few heels before relinquishing his grip on that title.

The show kicked off with Johnny Lawless standing in the ring holding a microphone, flanked by his Texas Outlaw teammates, Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman and Mean Mark Green. “Tonight you ignorant rednecks get the treat of your life. Not that you deserve it, but tonight you will bear witness to an historic moment. Tonight, Johnny Lawless, YOUR rightful champion, will reclaim HIS TWL title!” Bowman stole the microphone. “**** yeah Johnny! Tell ‘em what the **** those ****in’ ****ies are gonna ****in’ see tonight!” Lawless retrieved the microphone and made the ‘hook ‘em horns’ sign of the Texas Outlaws - while Floyd continued a rant about ****suckers and Budweiser, or something like that. “See this Squaw Two Birds? Tonight when I take back my title, this is gonna be the last thing you see ‘fore I knock you out cold. And that’s a promise!” B

Pain v. Professor Nero

Billy’s Take: Nero came out first, dementedly alternating between girlish giggles and sadistic sneers as he stalked to the ring. When Pain came out, the predominantly male crowd bellowed in glee, obviously getting behind the powerful painted warrior. Inside the ring, this was a distinct contrast in styles. Pain bludgeoned Nero with ham-size fists and size 17 boots while the sadistic Professor played possum and took advantage in Pain’s occasional lapses in attention. Back and forth the match went until Pain seemed to have the match under control. At that instant, Nero tripped me up and I stumbled. Before I could regain my balance and turn back toward the action, he’d apparently lashed out with his ever-present silver-handled cane and smashed it across Pain’s head. The painted monster staggered and, as I turned back around, fell to the mat. Nero dropped to his knees and made the pin for the victory.

Nero d. Pain via pinfall

After the match, Nero signaled to the backstage area. The Demons of Rage – Demon Anger and Demon Spite – thundered to the ring and immediately set about attacking the fallen Pain. They punched and kicked until blood pooled around his bruised and battered head. Apparently content with the carnage, the Disciples of Evilness – the Demons of Rage and Nero – returned backstage amidst a chorus of boos. C+

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley w/Captain USA v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

Billy’s Take: The Warsaw Pact came out and the crowd immediately began a spontaneous chant of “U…S…A” Mustafa covered his ears as if trying to block out the noise while his charges, Panzer and Popinowski, seemed immune to the cheers and walked stone-faced to the ring. When the Masked Patriot and Grimsley entered, accompanied by Captain USA, the crowd’s noise built as the “U…S…A” chant echoed in the arena. The match itself was typical fare for these plodding powerhouses – punch, kick, slam, then rinse and repeat. The only variation occurred when the Masked Patriot was in the ring. Then the pace of the match picked up. It was during one such exchange that Patriot and Panzer squared off. Panzer charged headlong toward the Patriot who sidestepped the move and hit a lightning-quick Patriot Slam on Panzer. Before Popinowski could react, I’d slapped my hand three times on the mat to give the win to the all-American duo.

Patriot/Grimsley d. Warsaw Pact via Patriot Slam

Sheik Mustafa bellowed in anger following his team’s loss. He grabbed the furled Russian flag he’d brought with him to ringside and brought it down across the back of the victorious Masked Patriot. Popinowski charged toward Grimsley, meeting the Giant in the center of the ring with a boot-shaking Polish hammer to the chest of the big man. Captain USA slid in the ring behind Mustafa and stole the Russian flag. He broke the pole over his knee and then brawled with Sheik Mustafa and Panzer. Security had to be called out to separate the six men brawling in and out of the ring. C

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

Billy’s Take: This was another match with little in the way of technical or scientific wrestling. The closest it got was when Croup locked Demon Spite into a hammerlock. In all honesty, I think it was an accident. The ending of this match came when Professor Nero tried to interject himself in the match without my knowledge. He failed. Believe it or not, I saw him level Vandemar with his silver-handled cane and immediately called for the bell, giving the New Zealand Game Hunters the victory via disqualification.

New Zealand Game Hunters d. Demons of Rage via disqualification after Professor Nero interfered

TWL Tag Team Title Match: Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk ‘Bone-Dogg’ Bonell v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

Billy’s Take: As the challengers, the Party Animals emerged first, slapping hands with fans at ringside and particularly paying attention to the (admittedly small number of) women interspersed in the crowd. Double Disaster came out next, the TWL tag team titles slung over their beefy arms. The match itself was about what you’d expect. Double Disaster used their huge size advantage to slow down the pace of the match while Bone-Dogg relied on explosive power and Chase on his superior conditioning to wear down the Samoan duo. In the end, however, it was simply not the Party Animals’ day as Eruption and Tsunami combined on a devastating Tidal Wave on Chase Allen to gain the pinfall victory.

Double Disaster d. Party Animals to retain the TWL Tag Team Titles via Tidal Wave

As Double Disaster exited the ring, they passed by their compatriot ‘New School’ Jason Jackson. Jackson stared right past them to where security guards were bringing out the 1978 Lincoln Towncar which would be awarded to the winner of the following contest. Double Disaster seemed unperturbed by the blow-by, but I certainly noted some tension in the eyes of Jason Jackson as he made his way to the ring. C+

Winner Gets a 1978 Lincoln Towncar: 'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid w/Shannon and Debbie Dallas v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

Billy’s Take: The bad guys came out first as Bowman, Barstow, and Green emerged on the heels of Jason Jackson. When the face team entered the arena, the crowd roared. Again, it was difficult to ascertain whether it was due to Maynard, Montero, Jackson, and the Kid or to the buxom blonde Debbie Dallas and the girl-next-door Shannon. Inside the ring, I had a difficult time keeping the peace. All eight men spilled into the ring on numerous occasions and it appeared that, in the confusion, Floyd Bowman would prevail after hitting a Salute ‘n Boot on Kenny Maynard. But the Trailer Park Kid made the save and connected with a Double-Wide Dive on Jason Jackson. This time, ‘New School’s teammates proved unable to break up the pinfall attempt and the Trailer Park Kid won the match for his team.

Trailer Park Kid pinned Jason Jackson via Double-Wide Dive to WIN the 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

Team Texas came in from the wings, apparently to celebrate with the Trailer Park Kid. The ecstatic Trailer Park Kid snatched the keys from ringside and escorted Debbie Dallas to the waiting Towncar. They got in the car and, honking twice at Team Texas, peeled out and drove the car out of the arena as the seemingly ever-present unknown assailant from the last several weeks (who I know, of course, as Samuel Gauge) stood there, face expressionless.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Cobra1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Viper.jpg

Team Texas went back toward the ring when, somewhat surprisingly, the Crimson Serpent Cult emerged from the back. Without warning or provocation, Viper let loose a tremendous fireball toward Archie Judge and Dave Wylde! Though both were able to mostly avoid the ball of fire, it did catch part of Archie’s Dallas Cowboys jersey on fire. Cobra and Viper slunk to the back, leaving many unanswered questions. C-

TWL Title Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

Billy’s Take: Johnny Lawless confidently strode to the ring, sending Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman and Mean Mark Green backstage. Chief Two Eagles seemed visibly shaken by the Crimson Serpent Cult’s apparent turn as he didn’t think to offer a fan an eagle feather from his resplendent headdress. Instead he shook his head, as if in disbelief, before handing off his title at ringside. Inside the squared circle, Chief Two Eagles also seemed distracted. Johnny Lawless brutalized him with his Indian strap (each man had one, laced to his own wrist) until crimson blood streamed down the face of the champion. Just when it looked as if Two Eagles was down for the count, he found a reserve of energy. Lawless’ attacks seemed to falter, his blows fell with less power. With the tide of the match squarely in favor of Chief Two Eagles, Mean Mark Green and Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman sprinted to the ring and attacked the TWL champion. I had to call for the bell, giving Chief Two Eagles the win by disqualification.

As the show ended, the locker room emptied to separate Two Eagles and the Outlaws. Clearly this feud is not yet at an end!

Two Eagles d. Lawless by disqualification after outside interference

Pain v. Professor Nero

Difficult. Im sure Pain will stay looking strong somehow

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

GG is the jobber here.

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

Just dont really like the Kiwis

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

Time for a change

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green(Extra point for choosing the specific victor)

I like F-Bomb here. He's a favourite and the Outlaws are doing well

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

I like Lawless here and maybe we get some sort of DQ win but Eagles is only losing the strap to Nero

2/6. Tag team matches tripped you up. I struggle with the Game Hunters. I like them, but they seem out of place as faces.

5/6. And your reasoning is spot-on. You underestimated how much of a pain the Masked Patriot can be. He hates to job - especially to those lower on the card!

Pain v. Professor Nero

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

(Extra point for choosing the specific victor) Trailer Park Kid

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

6/6 - only missed on the first tag match and even picked the winner of the 8-man. Nicely done!

Pain v. Professor Nero

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

6/6 also. Just like Jingo - missed a tag match but correctly gave the Kid the car!

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

(Extra point for choosing the specific victor)

They have some Texan Outlaws, the Leader of the New School AND know how to be Cheatin'. How do they not win?

I'm going to give this to Barstow when he manages to cheat his own team mates out of the car. I kind of wanted to give TPK this but... what's he gonna do with a Town Car in a trailer park?

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

- I think the Chief stands tall to send the fans home happy and Lawless into a further, deeper, darker place.

4/6. I like the heel team better in the 8-man match, but I like what I have planned for the Trailer Park Kid. Some skits are on the way which may be a bit reminiscent of the old Kevin von Erich/Jimmy Garvin bits from World Class. should be fun.

Pain v. Professor Nero

Tough call right off the bat, I think Pain will eventually get the best of this feud but I don't see it ending anytime soon.

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

The Masked Patriot shouldn't job to foreigners, that's Whistler's gig!

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

A little Payback from Pain.

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

A risky call, but it should be no secret I love the Party Animals.

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

C2E's reign is just getting started, and I think he'll vanquish at least a few heels before relinquishing his grip on that title.

4/6. Cheatin' Mike doesn't need a car to be awesome. He'll be a chickens*it, cast-waving, constantly complaining heel without a great ride. I love the Whistler/Masked Patriot comparison. In some ways, it is apt as I am basically using him as I've often seen Whistler used in NYCW - as a main event gatekeeper.

Pain v. Professor Nero

The Masked Patriot/Giant Grimsley v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

New Zealand Game Hunters (Croup/Vandemar) v. Demons of Rage (Demon Anger/Demon Spite) w/Professor Nero

TWL Tag Team Title Match: The Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. Double Disaster (Eruption/Tsunami) ©

Eight-Man Match: Winner Gets a NEW 1978 Lincoln Towncar!

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard/Luis Montero/Trailer Park Kid v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman/'New School' Jason Jackson/Mean Mark Green

(Extra point for choosing the specific victor)

Maybe Montero will win only to have it trashed by some sore losers. ( I love this stipulation)

TWL Title: Indian Strap Match: Chief Two Eagles © v. Johnny Lawless

4/6. I love the car stipulation too and look forward to seeing how it plays out (I have several ideas...we'll see where the story goes)

From the Notebook of Referee Billy

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/TWL.jpg

Well wrestling fans, we had quite a time at Wild Side! Needless to say, the landscape of TWL has changed dramatically. You'll have to tune in this Wednesday to Texas Wrestling to witness these big events! Here is the card scheduled for this week's Texas Wrestling:

TWL 6-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. Foreign Legion (Sheik Mustafa/Comrade Popinowski/Panzer)

The Pain Hunters have been worthy 6-Man champions, but they face a stiff test in the foreign powerhouses. Can the champs retain or will the Foreign Legion pry the belts away?

Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. 'Handsome' Tommy Handell/'Luscious' Lee Wright w/Shane Sneer

The Party Animals recently won a number one contender's match against the Crimson Serpent Cult, but lost in their bid for the tag titles. Which team will show up here? And will Shane Sneer play a role in the outcome?

'The Mayne Event' Kenny Maynard v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow

Cheatin' Mike has been on quite a streak as of late - both in winning matches and costing Luis Montero. Will young Kenny Maynard be able to overcome the tenacity and villianous nature of Barstow or will Cheatin' Mike once again emerge victorious?

'Old School' Edmond Jackson v. ???

Jason Jackson has promised a (poorly-timed) Father's Day present for his dad in the form of a match against a newly-debuting member of the West Coast Warriors. Who will this mystery man be and will he be able to pull out a victory against the Principal of the Old School?

Quick Picks:

TWL 6-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. Foreign Legion (Sheik Mustafa/Comrade Popinowski/Panzer)

Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell) v. 'Handsome' Tommy Handell/'Luscious' Lee Wright w/Shane Sneer
