mistaken
<p>A major thank you goes out to the person who nominated me. That is very kind. I don't belong in the same sentence with the hall of fame writers on here, but it is very humbling even to get one nod. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Ok, not that this means anything but I am going to make my nods public. Greg McNeish
1) InfinityWPI, the Welcome to the Costal Zone series has a it's own cult following, and Infinity has not let us down for for 5 straight releases of TEW (any one remember .400 boards, I see a few hands) *raises hand* I'll be putting two of my votes to Infinity and DragonMack, but I'm completely undecided on my third choice. Hopefully someone will make a compelling case here.
jhd1
Many thanks to whoever nominated me - hopefully you'll be able to re-use that nomination And yes, I am the foolish, yet honest, one who told mistaken I was inelligible. Seriously though, I can't quite believe someone put me forward!
Bigpapa42
I figured it would be tough to choose... and wow, I am having a tough time. There are too many people who I feel have a very good case for inclusion. I feel like I'm wronging whoever I end up leaving out...
angeldelayette
I figured it would be tough to choose... and wow, I am having a tough time. There are too many people who I feel have a very good case for inclusion. I feel like I'm wronging whoever I end up leaving out... I agree! It was a very difficult time for me to make my nominations. I did make mine and just sent them in. But I am sure that a week from now I'll be kicking myself and saying 'why didn't I pick so and so.' But I do want to add a thank you to those who have nominated me. It is a definite honour to even be mentioned in the same breath as our current Hall of Fame team. FINisher
3) FINisher, the alts, the diaries, the help given to others, the diaries, the wacky ideas, the diaries. This man has not been with us long, but he as made and indelible mark! Damn, thanks man. I do miss this community but I've been really busy with real life, work, girlfriend and other games.. I do have one TEW save running healthy though but I don't want to start a new diary just because of itself, you know. I don't want yet another flash in a pan, a diary for which I do two shows and then quit the project. If and when I'll start one, it's gonna have a lot of stuff done for it pre-diary, a lot of time and dedication and right now there's not any idea for a diary at the moment, as sad as it sounds. I feel that I won't get nominated/selected due to my inactivity, perhaps the newer people don't even know me.. I might come back fulltime someday... Someday.. You'll never know. - FIN
mistaken
I want to echo this sentiment entirely. In fact I want to put out some more nomiations (to bad I used my three) 4) DSE81 - the consistency, originality and longevity of his NWA diary is something close to if not unequaled on these boards. week in, week out every week the updates seem to come with out fail! there is a reason DSE is in the number one points position, he is a DOTM contender every month! 5) G-prime - The original runner of the Real World DOTM. and a great writer to boot. An asset to the community who should not be forgotten 6) Ship Shirt, Brifidelity, Derek B, Outlaw - 4 way tie, not gone not forgotten, but in some ways entirely over looked for the helping pave the way in the early days of the Grey Dog forums. I personally have never read much if any of their works, but I am aware of the mark they left on the boards 10) Adezzy/MattitudeV2 - Good lord, he is our very own Vito, Gilberg or other jobber of choice. he tried I will give him that. And if he ever chooses to return and put up diaries based on TEW games he will be welcomed with open arms in my book. But I truly believe he deserves an ignominious place in the hall of fame. No one sparked greater flam wars, or more enjoyment of bad grammar. Does any one else remember when we were floored that English was his first and only language? No Neck, Phantom Stranger, Oldschool, Wildfire, Eaygrt. They all deserve a place! I just want every one to remember this is not about who wrote the best show last week, last month or even last year. It's about who has delivered at a level that every one who visits these boards should not take a look at what they produced. The amount of talent on these boards, I mean we produce something for almost any interest.
Eisen-verse
I have to say, I'm extremely honored to be up there with the names that are up this year. While I'm a newbie to these boards (well, kinda. I've been here for a few years now I guess), These are the 'cream of the crop' ladies and gentlemen. With that said, I really just wanted to thank those who have placed my name with these great writers. My nom's are on there way in the next few days. Just wanted to say 'thank you' first. Cheers. Oldschool
<p>I'm certainly not trying to bash the process, in fact I applaud Mistaken's effort's here... His "What if the NWA struck first", may have been, one of the preminent diaries, based on the original release of DOTT mod... However it gets pushed back into obscurity, as many of the new posters are not familiar with this piece of work...</p><p> </p><p> Like I said, I'm not trying to complain... Mistaken does an outstanding job with this, in fact should be considered for the Hall of Fame based on his contributions alone, but if there were a way, that "great" older diaries could still have a chance to make the most elusive club in these Greydog boards history, that would in my mind, make being in this club, that much more special.</p>

On one hand I entirely agree with you. and I think there needs to be a process for adding over looked Star Writers who have gone dormant to the list. BUT I learned something when running last years awards. Out sight, out of mind I am not trying to be glib, just honest. There was no nomination just straight voting, with each person having the ability to make their case. Several people came in and made their case for writers like Outlaw, Brifidelity and one or two others. in the end, all those writers together did not get enough point to make 3rd place. while James Casey and Big Papa, both relative new comers at the time together got more than 50% of the vote. I asked if maybe the hall of fame members should get to elect a 4rth position, to pull in those they thought were deserving, and the majority that spoke up said no, that fostered a cliquish mentality, that some already believe exists due to DOTM. That is where the top 100 must read list came from, and why I plan to try and run it every year. Like it or not though, the internet is a now medium, and sometimes we have to live with that fact. The DOTM score was the best way I could think to remind people what had happened in the past, though once we reach top 10 voting, I doubt those numbers will mean much. Some of us had to work very hard for a long time to be newcomers last year I get what you mean, though. In my case I picked three active writers, and I regret not being able to add Bri or shipshirt to the list, but they both made the 'must read' list, so that's something. Infinity and DragonMack have been my top two for the duration, but I was struggling to come to a firm decision on my final nomination.
