Not a great card as it was my T.V. show that is supposed to be a bust. TV name makes a bit less sense now but

GAMMA: Next Big Thing

Prelims

Marlon John (3-1) def. Barrett Forde (1-16) via Round 1 TKO (Fantastic)

nothing much to see, feeding John a can

Lenny McFadden (16-7) def. Jethro Munter (14-16) via Unanimous Decision (Poor)

Bad fight, McFadden dominated but didn't do much to try to end up, was mostly a stand-up and hold against the cage fight iirc

Carter Potter (22-9) def. Egbert Besse (7-9) via Round 1 submission (Fantastic)

Potter usually wouldn't be in a prelim but I need him to gatekeep and he wouldn't fight anyone due to losing his last two

Gene Oakley (2-0) def. Francisco Jimenez (7-9-1) via Round 2 KO (Great)

Needed a stand-up fighter so Oakley had the best chance to win, and Jimenez would do that plus be exciting

Chad Zoff (2-4) def. Nathan Chambers (1-2) via Round 1 Submission (Fantastic)

To be honest, not sure why I had booked this match xD

MAIN CARD

Woody Fierstein (15-7) def. Henning Olsen (23-9) via Round 2 Submission (Fantastic)

Mainly a fight to help out Fierstein, and he hadn't fought in awhile, would of been fine with Olsen winning as well

Kenneth Toadspew (22-6) def. Phil Ball (12-15) via Round 1 Submission (great)

Another fight meant to build the popularity of the winner

Alex Cole (21-2) def. Patrick Thomas (11-10) via Round 1 Submission (Great)

Same as the Toadspew fight

Helio (28-3) def Gonzalo Ramos (8-9) via Round 2 KO (Good)

Meant to help Helio, as well as the fact I knew it would be an exciting bout, though was a bit scared that Ramos could pull the unexpected and get a (T)KO win.

Affonso Villar (10-3) def. Jerry Bogdonovich (7-13) via Unanimous Decision (Decent)

was an interesting fight, for the most part seemed Villar would win, and put in a couple massive punches on Bogdonovich but didn't KO him, and Villar survived a couple punches thrown at him (though did go down once). Love Bogdonovich for the excitement but he is good at screwing up plans (thankfully he failed this time)

Murilo Satinho (10-1) def Norman Pike (19-9) via Round 2 TKO

Looked like Pike was going to stay alive (or worse get a submission applied from his back) but in the end Satinho finished it off. The plan was mostly to boost Satinho after he lost his last fight

That was the card, as you can see it was meant to fail from the beginning xD. Got the PPV coming up soon, so hoping that card does well (it should with a Main of Welterweight Champ Carlos da Guia (22-1, only loss to Kafu Bunya back at Alpha-1) v. Charles Stiles (21-5) and Co-Main of Luke Hilton (13-0) v. Phillip Ziskie (18-2).

GAMMA 56: Uprising

Saturday, Week 4 March, 2000

Preliminary Fights:

1. Kadonomaro Deguchi (7-0) d. Woody Fierstein (12-5) via TKO (ground strikes) in 1:52 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Middleweight division (Great).

This was an impressive GAMMA debut for Deguchi, who quickly manhandled an overmatched Fierstein to the ground and simply pounded him out.

2. Alexander Marsters (7-0) d. Bryan Van Den Hauwe (15-6) via TKO (ground strikes) in 2:28 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Light Heavyweight division (Fantastic).

In a virtual replay of the opening fight, the youngster Marsters moved to 2-0 in GAMMA with a dominating victory.

3. Lloyd McAllister (13-5) d. Ruy Mendes da Rocha (8-6) via KO (head kick) in 6:49 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Welterweight division (Average).

This was a loser-leaves-GAMMA fight. McAllister peppered Ruy with punches for a few minutes and then caught him coming forward with a head kick to save his spot in the company.

4. Norman Pike (17-6) d. Marvin Stevens (22-13) via submission (guillotine) in 7:39 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Heavyweight division (Decent).

Pike overcame a 40-pound weight disadvantage to earn a much-needed submission victory here and hopefully turn his GAMMA career around. He struggled to get the much larger Stevens off his feet early on, but once he did the fight was over quickly.

5. Kenny Magilton (10-4) d. Jackson Gray (20-11) via submission (guillotine) in 3:26 of Round 2 in the GAMMA Lightweight division (Poor).

In a boring fight that pitted the largely ineffective grappling of Magilton against the largely ineffective striking of Gray, Magilton was eventually able to trap Gray against the cage in a seated position and finish him with a guillotine.

Main Card:

6. Damien Jones (6-0) d. Oscar Gomez (13-6) via TKO (punches) in 6:32 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Heavyweight division (Decent).

Jones was successful against fellow brawler Gomez in his GAMMA debut, stopping the Mexican fighter’s GAMMA winning streak at 2. Jones was the sharper striker throughout, eventually trapping Gomez against the cage with a series of hard shots and forcing the referee to intervene.

7. JJ Reid (27-4) d. Joe Hinchcliffe (27-9) via submission (Americana) in 2:30 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Welterweight division (Fantastic).

After two consecutive losses at Middleweight, Reid may have found himself a new home at 170 pounds. He easily submitted the struggling Hinchcliffe and will now look to move up the rankings in a highly competitive Welterweight division.

8. Ricky Heath (17-4) d. Mark Cohen (34-10-1) via UD (29-28 x3) in 10:00 of Round 3 in the GAMMA Light Heavyweight division (Good).

Heath came out on top in this battle of two fighters looking to remain relevant in the GAMMA Light Heavyweight division. Cohen looked strong early, taking Heath down and mounting him, but he couldn’t finish and ended up punching himself out fairly quickly. Heath came on strong against an exhausted Cohen in the final two rounds, knocking him off his feet three times, and although he, too, failed to finish, he did enough damage to secure the unanimous decision.

9. Petey Mack (16-2) d. Thomas Smith (13-3) via TKO (ground strikes) in 3:28 of Round 1 in the GAMMA Middleweight division (Great).

The heavily hyped Petey Mack made an impressive GAMMA debut against Thomas Smith, scoring a quick double-leg takedown and easily dominating his opponent on the ground en route to the TKO victory. Mack could be a force to be reckoned with in a stacked GAMMA Middleweight division.

10. Charles Stiles (16-3) d. Beau Gorshin (38-10) via submission (armbar) in 4:49 of Round 2 in the GAMMA Lightweight division (Good).

After his loss to Welterweight champion Julio Reguiero, Stiles was able to rebound here after dropping to the Lightweight division. He controlled the vast majority of the fight on the ground, eventually catching the veteran Gorshin in an armbar halfway through the second round.

Semi-Main Event:

11. Darin Blood (15-3) d. Neil Napier (16-2) via SD (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) in 10:00 of Round 3 in the GAMMA Welterweight division (Great).

Darin Blood fought a defensive fight throughout, but did enough to take two rounds on two judges’ scorecards and pull off the mild upset. Blood got stronger as the fight went on, hurting an advancing Napier with counterstrikes two or three times in the final round and leaving a positive impression in the minds of the judges. He earns a shot against the legendary Welterweight champion Julio Reguiero with the victory.

Main Event:

12. Li-Kong Ho (22-0) d. Sean Morrison (28-4) via submission (guillotine) in 2:25 of Round 4 to win the GAMMA Lightweight Title (Decent).

The Indonesian sensation Li-Kong Ho kept his undefeated record intact by defeating GAMMA icon Morrison in a grueling affair. Morrison came out aggressive, trapping Ho against the cage early on and punishing him with a series of vicious elbows. But Ho was not to be deterred, neutralizing Morrison’s legendary wrestling throughout the majority of the over 30-minute match, repeatedly scoring with takedowns, and methodically working toward submissions on the ground before finally catching the champion against the cage and hooking him in a guillotine from which there was no escape.
