On Monday, a fire drill goes off seemingly by itself, and then when the students come back, a human head is attached to the fire alarm, blood still dripping. The students are sent home that day. On Tuesday, several more deaths happen, an entire classroom of students and their teacher is murdered, raising the death toll to 35. The students also had their eyes stabbed out and their hearts removed. The police come in and search every bag and pants pocket on campus, Officer George J. Jones(Wade Williams) finds a bloodied knife in Zachary's bag. He is taken to the police station and after hours of interrogation he manages to prove his innocence. However, as soon as Jones believes he's innocent a flicker of lights leads to a dead officer Jones. Zachary runs away, as TV reporters plaster his face all over the news. He runs to one of his teacher's house, Ms. Alice(Jennifer Love Hewitt), who is also a family friend and his godmother. She gives him shelter for the night, however, by morning, when he wakes up, he sees her head swinging on a rope. Zachary begins to doubt himself... whether or not he could actually be the killer... no one else in the high school knew about Ms Alice being his godmother. When the police come banging on Ms. Alice's door, Zachary sneaks out the back and runs for it. He goes to the last person who can help him. His absentee father(Paul Johanson). He knew his father had a large collection of guns. When he sees his father they get into an argument, as he thinks Zachary's after money, but after explaining the situation, his father agrees to watch over him for the night and to shoot him if he started acting like he was gonna murder somebody. Later, at night, Zachary hears a strange noise and wakes up. He sees a knife cutting through his father's neck. His father, with his last ounce of life throws Zachary his gun, and Zachary quickly shoots the assailant in the shoulder. As the assailant tries to run away, Zachary runs in with a tackle, they tussle around a bit and Zachary rips a ski mask of the assailant revealing Sara. This leads into a conversation where Zachary asks why Sara explain that since their dating he should be hers and hers alone. That the first girl she killed she killed because they had gotten into an argument when she said Zachary was to good for her. Then the classroom full of students? Four of them were friends of Zachary who he had ditched her for to play video games with... and the rest of em were just witnesses she couldn't let live. The cop had to die because he had realized Zachary was innocent. Ms Alice died because Sara was mad the Zachary went to her for help instead of her... and his dad died for the same reason. After the explanation Zachary shoots her in the head with the gun, uttering the last words of the film "I got that speech on tape bitch. I can prove that im innocent."

Location- Houston, Texas

Budget- 1,285,000(Actors- 135,000. Throughout most the movie I believed Efron was in fact the killer and just had some weird split personality or something, but that couldn’t have been any further from the truth. This movie was actually a bit painful for me to sit through. It’s basically one scene the entire movie, six men sitting around a table playing a modified version of Russian Roulette. I give them an ‘A’ for creativity, but an ‘F’ for polish. The story, while unique was just lacking…a story. There isn’t really any character progression and you never really get into the head of the men to figure out why they want dead in the first place. If action and gore is you’re thing then I suppose you might enjoy this movie, but if you what movie for an actual plot and story I wouldn’t bother with it.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

Revenue: 800,000

The Effects:

Quentin Tarantiono will now work for 175,000 a movie

Rampage Jackson has a big UFC fight coming up and as a result will be out for the rest of the week.

Better in Than Out Productions now has

Born with one of the most embarrassing last names of all time, Kevin rose above all odds to achieve his dream of racing in Nascar. However, after three years of racing he hasn't recorded a single win and the talk is that he is soon to be replaced with a more talented driver unless he steps up his game and starts to find success. Making matters worse for Kevin is that his rival step-brother Dale Jesse Gibson (Dule Hill, Psych) is not only one of the most popular and loved drivers in racing, but also has one of the best racing names you could ask for!

The two brothers can agree on one thing however, and that is their hatred of the best driver in Nascar history Jimmy James Killheart (John Travolta, Pulp Fiction, Wild Hogs). A ruthless driver on the track and an arrogant bully off, Killheart also has a better racing name than Gibson! Trying to avenge his brother Kevin Faggot stays right on Killheart until the final lap, as the two race for the finish Killheart edges out the victory by inches. After the race the three men square off before making amends and celebrating together. I’m not sure where to start with this one. Perhaps my sense of humor isn’t what it once was but I didn’t find anything in this film amusing. It circles around the Nascar industry and the main conflict in this seems to revolve around who has a better name as a driver. One unique aspect in this film is the villain actually won in the end, so we can chalk that up to the surprise factor. But aside from that this really didn’t do much for me. I hope this company can bounce back and put better movies out in the future.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

Revenue: 500,000

The Effects:

Denzel Washington will not be appearing in another comedy for at least the rest of the week.

Rancid Redundancy Studios now has 660,000

He sees the way his father lives (the drugs, hookers, and beer), and wants it all for himself. When he enrolls in Law School he doesn’t expect things to be any different. However, his life is about to be turned upside down, when he goes to class he meets the beautiful Sara Walker (Mandy Moore) she doesn’t give him the time of day. Regardless of how he approaches her she blows him off by saying she knows his kind. Rich preppy kid who thinks everyone should bow down to him, she wants nothing to do with it. To make matters worse Jimmy isn’t the star pupil instead it’s a guy by the name of Jake (Jake Gyllenhall) and not only is he top of the class, but he is also the object of Sara’s affection. The basic storyline is that the spoiled Jimmy Jones wants Sara Walker, but isn't able to get her via his wealth. Instead, Sara seems interested in Jake Gyllenhall's character (Jake), who is quite the law student. Czuchry gives an average performance in this role. While it's clear that his work on The Good Wife has made him comfortable with legal jargon and lawyer mannerisms, he struggles to convince the audience about the depth of his desire to change for Moore's character. Moore, on the other hand, puts in an above average performance and even if I wasn't sure that Jimmy Jones deserved Sara Walker, I definitely understood why he was so interested. Perhaps smartly, however, Ron Howard kept Saget's role to a minimum in the film, which seemed to accentuate Saget's performance. Hopkins, predicably, nails his role and ultimately comes across as an intensely frightening individual, though most audiences invariably associate Hopkins with his role as Hannibal Lecter. Fortunately for Spine Wood Studios, the Lecter and Phillips roles share some psychological similarities, even if it the performance comes across as rehashed at some points.

Karen Gillan does an adequate job as the main female lead, while Adian Turner does an above average job as her character's vampiric savior. Unfortunately for both, their name value is quite low in the United States, thus leaving the brunt of the film's ability to draw on Hopkins' shoulders. Helena Bonham Carter also makes an appearance in the film and knocks out it out of the ballpark, though the appearance is much too short to really influence the overall quality of the film.

Without providing any spoilers, it's worth mentioning that the film ends on a major cliffhanger, which is obvious attempt at the studio to setup a sequel. It'll be interesting to see if the studio immediately follows up with this plan or if they try to build up their coffers first, as the budget for the film (particularly, the production and marketing numbers) were quite low for a film of this scope and style (focus group numbers indicated that the fans were expected more flash and show for a vampiric thriller). The marketing numbers hurt the opening weekend, while the production value hurt the film's word-of-mouth based success.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Revenue: 1,410,000

Spine Wood Studios now has $1,410,000

Effect:

Anthony Hopkins will now work for 65,000.

Adrian Turner will now work for 25,000.

Quick note: This is our fault for not reading the thread more closely, but in general, we've been avoiding doing films based on licensed material (as we weren't sure how to handle licensing fees yet). Mad gave me the go-ahead to review this one, but you might want to check with him to see about any potential sequels.

Christine excitedly asks if Grandpa is going to make it for her performance. Her mother tells her that grandpa promised.

Back in the bed, Margeret Dishon (played by Mary McDonnell) walks into the room, where her husband and the young woman are having relations. She drops her things, shakes her, head, and walks away, while Cecilia Perez tries to cover up and Lonnie Dishon yells for his wife to stop.

Back at the recital, Christine Ullman takes the stage and begins to play the violin. Her mother looks down at her phone and sees a text mesage from her father indicating that he's held up at work and not able to make the show.

After the end of this dual-faced introduction, the movie shifts to David Ullman (played by Tommy Lee Jones). It quickly becomes apparaent that David Ullman is an exceptionally succesful family lawyer in New Mexico and that his days consist of meeting with clients, opposing attorneys, taking important people out to lunch, lecturing and guiding his staff, and spending inordinate amounts of time on the phone. His next big client is Lonnie Dishon, wealthy rancher from northern New Mexico who is being divorced by his wife. Dishon and Ullman have an intense conversation, where Dishon expresses regret and remorse about his infidelity. Ullman attempts to squash these feelings and tries to draw out character flaws in Dishon's wife and is clearly gearing up to try to prevent Margeret Dishon from getting much in the divorce proceedings.

Elsewhere, Jillian Ullman finds her daughter Christine Ullman crying alone in her room. As she tries to console her, it becomes apparent this family recently lost its father. Jillian's father / Christine's grandfather, David Ullman is the only family that they have left and that he's essentially unavailable, as he's wrapped up in his work.

Back on Lonnie's ranch, a fight breaks out between him and his appararent mistress Cecilia Perea. After a back and forth argument about everything from their affair, to his failed wife, and his inability to move forward with their relationship, Dishon kicks Perea out of the house, literally throwing her clothes onto the porch and flinging a wad of cash at her face.

Next, Jillian Ullman and David Ullman meet for a patio lunch in downtown Albuquerque. David is clearly in a rush and has little time for his daughter. Jillian holds him there, however, and tries to calmly explain that his absence at the recital really hurt Christine's feelings. David either doesn't get it or doesn't care, and the emotionality of the scene escalates. Soon, the daughter is screaming and crying at the father, causing a wild scene for the other patrons at the restaurant. David yells back, arguing that he's working for the welfare of Jillian and Christine. He claims that he wants to retire, but that he can't, because Jillian's husband died and because she can't even support herself on her teacher's salary, much less his Christine. The fight rolls on from here and eventually ends with Jillian giving David an ultimatum: be at your daughter's graduation, or else he can pretend that he doesn't have a daughter or granddaughter anymore. David responds that he has an important day in court on that day. Jillian can't even respond and just points her finger, bites her lip, and cries, before running away from the diner.

Back on the ranch, Lonnie calls his wife Margeret. The conversation is generally one-sided, as Margeret clearly has little to say to Lonnie. Lonnie pleads with her to come back, but her sense of betrayal is too strong for that. Eventually, desparation leads to panic and anger for Lonnie, and he begins to scream at her on the phone, claiming that she's going to get nothing in this divorce. Margeret camly disagrees, stating that Perea has agreed to testify on her behalf. Lonnie has no response and just hangs up, simulatenously saddened at the loss of his wife and the fact that his case has got a lot weaker than a was.

Inside a high school, Jillian and Christine look over graduation accessories (like rings, robes, etc.). Jillian tells Christine to not get her hopes up about her grandfather at graduation. Christine nods, but quickly tears from in her eye.

In a small steakhouse in Northern New Mexico, Lonnie and David meet for lunch. The conversation starts off focusing on the upcoming court date. They start by talking about the role that Perea will play in the trial, and David quickly dismisses, claiming that he has found some technicality that will prevent her or her recording from taking the stand. Soon though, tt becomes clear that both men have a lot on their mind. Finally, they start to describe their feelings and problems to each other. Lonnie asks David is the case is worth. David shakes his head. David asks if the Vietnamese girl was worth. Lonnie shakes his head. Despite their agreement that they have both clearly gone astray, they don't what else to do, so they plan to move forward, with David vowing to retire after winning this case.

Trial day comes and Lonnie is standing in court with David's staff, including a young attorneys. The minutes tick away and David is nowhere to be seen. Finally, the young lawyer's cellphones rings. After a short conversation, the panicked lawyer approaches Lonnie and claims that David isn't going to make it and that he instructed them to handle the trial for him. Lonnie shakes his head and smiles. He then has the young lawyer to get the attention of the judge. Lonnie approaches the stand and tells the judge that he can't do this. He tells the judge to give Margaret whatever she wants. That she was a great wife and that she didn't deserve the things that he put the through.

Back in the "Pit" (a large arena where graduation ceremonies tend to be held in Albuquerque), Jillian stands in the crowd, watching the high school students, including her daughter, line up for the ceremony. Unexpectedly, she sees her father, David, on the floor of the arena. She watches him approach his granddaughter, give her flowers, a hug, and a kiss on the cheek. Young Christine is touched that her grandfather is there and cries happy tears. The film ends with David walking up the pit stairs, approaching his daughter, and sitting next to her.

Production Notes: Dubbise Films apparently comissioned this film with director Mike Nichols in mind, as they were quite impressed with the emotional relationship drama Closer that he directed in 2004. Dubbsie Films really wanted to cast George Clooney in a role in this film, but ultimately decided against it, as they were worried that high cost, given the film's non-action status, might hurt earnings.

Location: New Mexico

Budget: 1.4 million (395,000 cast and crew, 505,000 on production, 500,000 on marketing)

Duration: 107 minutes

Note: Apparently none of the actors nor the director that I had in mind were listed, so I tried to assign reasonable values to everyone. Feel free to adjust when you review and to deduct money from production/marketing to meet any new crew costs.

The next big film from Dubbsie Films is a drama entitled 2, Yet none. If you can get past the title the movie shows a lot of promise. With a cast of all stars that include Tommy Lee Jones, Kurt Russell, and Emma Roberts it looks like a big day at the box office for Dubbsie Films. The storyline is one that can touch almost anyone it involves a family whose father figure is never around and another couple who is going through a divorce. This is not a movie to see with a group of friends, there is just too much going on and it’s easy to lose track of it all. If you’re able to keep up with the fast pace however you’ll see yet another Oscar worthy performance by Tommy Lee Jones, a lawyer who always put work first until the end of the film when he sees the error of his ways. The emotion of Jones is second to none, he really has a way of connecting with the audience. Kurt Russell gave Jones a run for his money however on star of the film, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he too were named in Oscar talks.

The bottom line is Dubbsie Films has hit a home run on this one and they should be reaping the rewards.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

Revenue: 6,500,000

The Effects:

Tommy Lee Jones now wants 125,000 per movie

Kurt Russell now wants 100,000 per movie

Emma Roberts now wants 50,000 per movie

Dubbsie Films now has 7,560,000

All trends that are announced throughout the day will not take effect until the following day. For instance if Bob release a horror film and I state that all horror films will receive a 100K bonus in revenue. No films released that day will receive said bonus.

Any questions you have about the game rules etc please PM them to me. I know I've missed about a million questions due to skimming at work then losing it later in the day. That doesn't include worker costs as already stated please just use your best judgment on that annotate it in your film with question marks and I'll update the main page at the end of the night.

You guys can begin posting tomorrow at 8am EST. no need for me to get on and say go, because for once I'm caught up <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Have Fun!!!

Awesome! Totally getting involved in this. Can I take it that the OP is constantly updated, or do I need to go through the thread to find latest prices?

edit: Also can't find a price for Will Ferrell at the moment, am I being blind?

That was actually late night yesterday (in America) when it was posted, so 'yesterday' actually means Monday.
