BHK1978
Right now for DC I would recommend Hawkman and Nightwing. Both have been great thus far and the Ric Grayson storyline has been awesome. I love the Nightwing team. Which is odd because I hate the Bat family (which I know is an entirely different thing but still).
Jaysin
I've never been a big fan of Hawkman, but I'll see if I can track down Nightwing.

Looked at him as a major joke for years and years. Heck, I'd hear all the guff Aquaman got and wonder why Hawkman didn't get it even worse. The Super Friends toons reduced him to some dude who could fly and happen to be symmetrical enough as to have wings as well. At least Aquaman had always gotten to retain his powers. Hawkman had everything that could have made him cool stripped away.

And Hawkgirl hardly fared much better on Justice League. They took a woman who ran a big city museum and turned her into a brainless barbarian. The next time I see an animated version of either Hawk that is worth watching will likely be the first because they've both been done serious dirt when utilized in animated series. Wasn't until I got the Showcase comps of the original recipe Hawks that I started to appreciate Katar and Shayera. Was like night and day from their cartoon appearances and such a breath of fresh air to see them treated as something other than one trick ponies.
BHK1978
I've never been a big fan of Hawkman, but I'll see if I can track down Nightwing. I have not read anything prior to Nightwing issue 50, so I cannot endorse that. But it has been great 50 onward (I kept on hearing it was good and I finally decided to pick it up starting with 50). Can certainly relate to not liking Hawkman. I felt the same way (Hawkman being lame) but I am telling you Robert Venditti (who I think is a fantastic writer) has really made the character interesting. This new Hawkman series explores his convoluted origin stories. There is sort of a Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones (not humor wise in the case of IJ) vibe to the first few issues. Right now I am two issues behind (I have it on my pull list but I just have not had the time to do much reading) but from what I have read thus far it has been great. I think there might have been one dud issue (going by memory here) but the rest are great.

Guest Asaemon
No upcoming releases to collect or look forward to anymore. The Walking Dead is finished, and it don't seems like either Crossed or Vagabond is being continued. No interesting Dark Horse releases either. This just feels weird. BlueStar
I haven't read any graphic novels in a long while but the other day I bought Batman Volume 1: The Court of Owls (The New 52), Batman Volume 2: The City of Owls (The New 52), Batman Volume 3: Death of the Family (The New 52), Batman Volume 4: Zero Year - Secret City (The New 52) and Batman Volume 5: Zero Year - Dark City (The New 52). Haven't read any of them yet but intend on getting some time over the weekend to sit down and get through a couple of them at least. Thanks for the intel! Also picked up House of X #4. I'm collecting every issue of House of X and Powers of X but not reading them until they've released all six issues of each. RingRider
Been out of the comic game for a long time but recently getting back. I never collected much--always much more interested in the storytelling and art than the collectible value. To that end, I subscribed the Marvel Unlimited App...can't say enough good thing about about. Definitely worth the 9.99 a month investment. I've been having a lot of fun reading the start of many of the signature Marvel character from the 60's. Has anyone tried Comixology as a comparison point? Or DC subscription service? BHK1978
Been out of the comic game for a long time but recently getting back. I have a Marvel account but I do not have a subscription. I had a free month of Comixology which was great. They have selected story arcs that are free so long as you have a subscription account with them and you also get 15% off any purchase you make. What I like about Comixology is you are not restricted to just one company. Therefore you have access to DarkHorse, Image, Alterna, and so forth. That would be a plus if you got a subscription with them. When the last Spider-Man movie came out they had a sale on the various titles (Amazing, Friendly Neighborhood...) and I went hog wild on buying up a lot of the original Amazing stories (If I am being honest I spent way too much, but each individual book was .99 USD and I could not pass that up. Plus, that would be the only way I would ever get to read them because there is no way I would shell out money for any of the originals). The same thing happened when Detective Comics had its 1000 issue. I bought a ton of those as well. My only gripe with Comixology is that their Marvel sales are great but their DC sales tend to suck. What I mean by that is, a lot of times they will have Marvel books (Graphic novels) on sale for as cheap as $1.99 (USD). But with DC they never go under $4.99. I vastly prefer DC over Marvel so it sucks that DC never gets a deep discount.

I've explored the possibilities of a subscription service, but they always seem to need either an Amazon account or a credit card, and I have neither. Is there no service that allows you to pay with Paypal (like the WWE Network, which is probably the biggest positive about it)?

I just tried to see if Paypal was a payment option they accept but it did not get far because they already have my credit card on file and I did not want to screw something up and end up paying for their sub service. Jaysin
I picked up the TPB of Absolute Carnage, Absolute Carnage- Lethal Protecors, Absolute Carnage- Miles Morales, and Absolute Carnage- Scream.
