SWF vs. TCW: The Battle's Over. The War ISN'T Won!

Eddie Peak defeated Benny Benson, Danny Fonzarelli, Edd Stone, Genghis Rahn and Koshiro Ino, when he pinned Edd Stone following a Chokeslam to win the Total Opportunity Match winning a shot at the International Championship, any time, anywhere after tonight.

 

A video hyping the PPV played it focussed on the Main Event: Tommy Cornell vs. Ricky Dale Johnson vs. Rocky Golden, in a ladder match for the World Championship.

 

The New Wave beat The Tag Team Specialists by pinfall when Guide pinned Robert Oxford to retain the World Tag Team Championships.

 

Tommy Cornell cut a promo hyping the match tonight, proclaiming he would become a six time champion.

 

Troy Tornado defeated Sam Keith in 15:13 by pinfall with a Star Maker.

 

Joey Minnesota psyches himself and Ricky Dale Johnson up, saying tonight is the night The Syndicate is beaten once and for all!

 

Joshua Taylor retained his International Championship against Bryan Vessey after a Piledriver.

 

After the match, the new number one contender Eddie Peak destroyed Joshua Taylor sending a message that he wants the title.

 

Wolf Hawkins defeated Joey Minnesota in 16:05 by pinfall with a Full Moon Rising. 1-0 to the Syndicate.

 

Rocky Golden made a huge entrance with a live band playing his theme and he was dressed in a full golden suit. And then the Total Mayhem begun!

TCW World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match

If the crowd was hot for the last match, they were on fire for this match, and as the title was lowered to around fifteen feet, the anticipation for this match grew even more.

 

From the crowd we begin to hear the usual chants of “RDJ! RDJ!” from about half of the capacity,, which is met with equally loud “Rocky! Rocky!” chant from the World Champion's supporters, there is also a weak chant of “Tommy” trying to drown out the alternating chants from the TCW fans.

 

The bell rings and both men go for Cornell, the man who for months has been making both of these men question everything. From alliances to championship credentials, Tommy has made both so paranoid and so confused that both truly hate the man, who wisely slips out of the ring and gets a ladder. He returns to the ring where RDJ and Golden are going at each other.

 

He runs at both knocking them into a heap on the floor. He sets up the ladder in the middle of the ring and goes for a quick get away. He reached about four steps up before Rocky ran up and got Cornell in an electric chair. While this was done to move Tommy away, it actually lifted him up and as Golden dropped back Cornell grabbed onto the title belt looking to release it. By then, however, RDJ had reached the top on the other side and he clotheslined Tommy off of the belt and both dropped to the centre of the ring.

 

The match then became an all out three way brawl with all three men looking for the ultimate chance to get the ultimate prize of TCW. With such effort into the goal,they all pushed themselves to physical limits, hoping they had that bit more than the others. Tommy bled from a RDJ chair shot, Rocky was dropped from fifteen feet in the air to the ropes and RDJ had been piledrived onto the steel ladder, but they each, somehow mustered the strength and determination to carry on, at numerous times leaving the crowd wondering how this one could possibly end.

 

Tommy slowly but surely began to control the action and he came the closest yet to winning the title as he got his hands on the prize only to be cut of by the determined defending champion. The two traded blows and with each shot from Golden followed by him shouting “F*ck you!” He had Tommy rocking and he hung on by a thread knowing that falling now would surely mean the end of the match. He took more shots from Rocky but blocked one and reversed Rocky into a fifteen foot sleeper hold hoping to put the champions reign to bed.

 

Rocky faded and it seemed a certainty his reign would indeed end to Cornell, only for the almost forgotten RDJ to come back. He tipped the ladder and both of the other competitors crashed to the outside of the ring. The ladder bounced back and RDJ helped it back into place, he slowly but surely crawled up the ladder and reached the summit as 25, 000 fans willed him on. He reached the top and extended his hand. Every fan was on their feet screaming. The camera took a wide shot and Ricky undid the buttons of the belt, as 25,000 fans celebrated the certain victory. Tommy lunged back into the ring, only to see Ricky drop from the ladder clutching the belt.

 

Ricky Dale Johnson wins at 28:56. He is the NEW World Heavyweight Champion!

Rocky Golden lays barely moving outside of the ring, Tommy Cornell slumps in the corner of the ring as Ricky props himself up against the rope, holding his new prize in the air as the crowd in the Nevada State Armoury go crazy for the new Heavyweight Champion. He soaks in the reaction and collapses to his knees sinking his face into the gold which he holds for a third time in his thirteen years with TCW. He has been physically and mentally broken down in the last few months and he relishes in his much deserved reward.

 

By now Tommy is up and the crowd stir expecting the usual sneaky tactics from Rough Justice. Instead he simply extends a hand to Ricky helping him up to his feet, the two foes, a modern day Chord and Strong, who have in so many ways surpassed the legends, stand face to face. Tommy releases his hand from the shake and takes a step back. He looks to the fans and points at Ricky signifying this is his moment before collapsing backwards onto the blood stained mat again.

Jason Azaria:

I don't know, but I'm sure he has some agenda.

 

All of a sudden every face in the room turns to the entrance way to see...

What is going on! What is happening!

 

Angry Gilmore, Christian Faith, Rich Money and Runaway Train join him and they all make their way down to the ring as 25, 000 TCW loyalists watch in shock. The five get in the ring and surround the new champion, Ricky dives towards them and takes two of them a step back but the numbers are too much for RDJ and he is beaten into the mat. Rocky Golden climbs in the ring but Runaway Train and Angry Gilmore thwart his resistance. The five men animalistically beat down the two men who have just endured a twenty five minute match. The attack continues until the pair are even more bloody and battered and ends with them completely unconscious on the outside of the ring.

 

Back in the ring, Cornell begins to pull himself up assisted by the ropes and the crowd cheer for the TCW icon, but instead of trying a one man resistance, he simply puts his head down and slumps out of the ring, looking physically and mentally broken. Once on the outside he looks up and says “I'm sorry” to the crowd before walking up the ramp looking straight down at the floor and shaking his head.

 

This leaves the crowd in a similar state as Christian Faith gets out a can of spray paint, and marks the ring with the word

'Closed'

, A camera gets close to it and Gilmore boots the lens, seemingly knocking it to the mat as it only shows a shot of the floor, the camera then cuts to the top of the ramp where Cornell stands. He runs his bloodstained hands through his hair and lets out a huge sigh before walking through the curtain to the back as the Pay-Per-View fades to black.

On the last days of TCW...

 

“ The fact is I told the guys on January 1st that we won't be able to pay everyone, and some of the guys straight up said they wanted out, I respect that I mean, Law, Bach, Aaron Andrews, The Machines, Fortune, Buffalo they can't afford to be doing this, by the end we had about enough to run a show and on that last show, we actually used everyone that was what was left of us. And anyone who left, I don't blame them and everyone of them said as long as TCW was in business and able to pay them, they'd be right back. Not one of them joined SWF or signed a long term contract elsewhere and I'm proud of that and I love them guys, they loved TCW.

 

I know it has been said about TV threatening to canning us, but I thought we could continue but then they informed us they couldn't keep us on air, and I knew that was it. With no exposure it was impossible, I had to call it a day. It was over. Nobody wanted to back us and I couldn't put wrestling over my wife and my child's life.”

 

On why SWF 'closed them down'...

 

“Money, simple as, without Eisen offering us the fund to do the show we couldn't have ran it, with Richard there is

always

a catch and that was they wanted to do the demolition, I still had creative over the show though. I knew little of how the final angle was going to go down, and my apology it was genuine, as I really had mixed emotions. I needed the show to be run, but like that... I think the SWF lacked class, but what can I do?”

 

On, if he would become a SWF Superstar...

 

“No, I am a wrestler and I will never be a superstar, end of. Next question. No thanks!”

 

On, where he sees himself in the near future...

 

“I couldn't honestly tell you, who knows what will happen, but I will be back, at some point down the line, I promise the best in the world isn't retiring at such a young age.”

 

A return to the UK?...

 

“ No. Not permanent anyway, my wife loves it here, my son is settled we are definitely staying in the US, sorry to UK fans I will see you all someday!”

 

If USPW is an option...

 

“No, not now, I have great respect for Mr. Strong, he helped make me a star and helped me a lot early in my HGC days, but honestly the product isn't me, I was a year old in 1980 and that's the audience they want so I don't see me in the 80's time warp I'm sorry. No disrespect it's sort of working for them and they are moving forward but I wouldn't feel comfortable.”

 

On his protege, and what he has advised him to do...

 

“ I told him do what he wants to do, be who you want to be and go where you want to go, if it's SWF good for him, USPW good for him, Japan, NOTBPW, even SOTBPW - honestly he has to do what he feels best and I will have to take a back seat, or even take no seat at all.

 

I've been with him this far and he would always have a place if I ever became a boss again but it's unlikely and in a way it's unfortunate from my perspective, he may have wanted rid of me for years, but, yeah, so Wolf has to spread his wings. This is where he proves he isn't a silver spoon boss' pet, this is where he proves he is one of the very best in the world, with no favours and no excuses from the naysayers, because he really is a great talent.”

Troy Tornado, Kyle Rhodes, Jason Azaria, Robert Oxford, Charlie Thatcher and Joel Bryant (forgive me if I forgot anyone, pretty sure that all of us.) My first match in HGC was huge, I took on Rip Chord and Dread, and I teamed with Liberty. We lost, but to be put in a match with those guys was a honour, it was a established name against those who were looking to be home-grown stars, and it really helped us get over. For fourteen years nearly I've consistently wrestled some of the greatest in the world and I have turned down jumping ship many a time, even when the TCW ship was sinking. The start of 2010 it felt inevitable seven or eight guys left and there was no way back. I was one of few who really knew that. Joel knew, Sam knew, Tommy didn't want to admit it but he knew. TV were warning us we needed to book up and people lost interest. Ratings were down and we got dropped us. That is when Tommy knew there was no way back, we'd been with GNN for so long and wrestling isn't so hot right now. It was on the night that Tommy told me I was going to win the title. I'd imagined we go out with the man who made it happen Tommy going out with the belt but he had insisted I finished with the belt. That was huge, I, of course already have huge respect for Tommy, but it just shows those idiots who say Tommy is an egotist and booking himself on top is complete rubbish. Sure he's main evented for all the time he's been in charge, but guess why. HE IS THE BEST WRESTLER IN THE WORLD. Any boss would have him on top, so obviously he would. Somehow he has an hidden agenda of boosting his own brand. Think of it this way. In any other occupation it's accepted but not in wrestling...
