Ever since European Wrestling All-Stars opened shop, rising from the well-churned ashes of UCR, the man formerly known as Jay Heartbreak has run the whole thing by himself. It suits him. Byron and I, we go way back - we've ploughed the same furrow countless times, bashed the same heads on a Saturday night, and started all over the next day with a hangover and a bottle of painkillers. Truth be told, alone is always how he's done it best. The guy's in love with himself, everyone knows that, but what they <em>don't</em> know is how driven the guy is. He's passionate, and works his girly little bum off to keep the European wrestling scene as fresh as he can while still making a ton of money.</span><br><br><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Or not. See, that's the first part of his little problem. Fella's never been good with cash. Great at spending it, but not so much at keeping it flowing; he's done okay with EWA, all things told, but he loves to play as much as he loves to work - and that's a lot. I'd be lying if I said the company's been going to hell, but the stress has been showing for a couple of years, and Byron's asked me a few times to step up and throw my back into the big push. The push for Europe; to be the best promotion in the continent. That's his dream, and I believe he'll achieve it, one way or another. So why have I finally decided to heed the call?</span><br><br><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Well. Life ain't a soap opera, it's not a movie, there's no need for grand designs and heavy reasoning. I've been plying my trade as a grappler on the independent scene for almost a decade, and time's right for a change. Much as I love the physical side of this business, it's not a life to have forever. Sleeping in cars, eating as cheaply as you can to maximize energy levels without breaking your squirty bank balance... it's fun when you're twenty, even twenty five, but once I got past thirty I started to feel a drive for something <em>more</em>.</span><br><br><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Byron's dream is my way of pushing toward that. Chris and Jase used to play that up to the delight of the crowd, and now they've ditched the silly gimmicks in favour of getting out there and wrestling. It's paid off brilliantly. While Chris is the better for my money, Jase is a couple of years younger and has a similar set of tools - he'll be a singles champion someday, no doubt. Perhaps both of them will be. For now, they're hauling the tag straps and can run rings around any team on the roster. They're stalwarts on the European tag team scene, have owned numerous belts, but never felt like a dominant pairing... because they're too good at doing what they do best. They may be eternal underdogs, but I'd never count them out. Almost as good as The X Force, they've even got a couple of years to catch up to them. I'm not being totally fair, though. While I'd never have picked him up myself, Herc's almost as scary as his big bro and a superior wrestler. Not much of a feat, but with half a decade to catch up, he could actually be somebody worthwhile one day. He's slipped down the card because people just don't gobble up the good ol' hero like they used to, but I'm glad to have him around. A decent high-flying type with just enough in other areas to keep it interesting, and give him a foundation to work with literally anyone. I'll certainly be following this. Europe doesn't get a lot of love and I've gotten familiar with it since I started doing a Road to Glory game there a couple weeks ago. (Super Falcon was my first champion; I didn't realize until afterwords that his stamina is so bad he can't wrestle more than ten minutes without getting tired.

As I've got the show all written up and ready to port into FictionPlus, I'll throw it up this evening, so last warning if anyone's skulking (like I used to!) and does fancy a shot. Not to give much away, but I can tell you that so far nobody's got a clean sweep.

Quite agree about Mexico! I was considering OLLIE but I really wanted to do something entertainment-heavy as I think those tend to catch on better, though some of my favourite dynasties around here certainly haven't been that. If all goes well with this and I stick around, maybe I'll attempt it next!? Actually what I've love to do is run opposing companies in Mexico as a joint project, but the logistics could really screw that up. Bit ambitious, maybe.

The Alpha Norwegian is on the Swedish muscle cruncher before he can even remove his armour, throwing massive haymakers and planting him with a ring-shuddering backdrop. But the crowd is in his corner, and Knight fights back, turning the tide with an array of strikes ending in a whip to the corner and an avalanche splash.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;" id="">The opening effort leaves both men dazed, but the action doesn't stop coming, Bam Bam making his own comeback to dominate the middle portion of the match - tossing the large Swede around like a sack of potatoes, only losing his substantial lead when he stops to posture for the crowd and eats a neckbreaker. Sensing the final shift in momentum, the people get behind their armoured champion, only for the Norwegian to catch him with a desperate double clap to the ears that sends him staggering. Frothing at the mouth, Bam Bam seethes for a moment before reaching for his neck, hauling off the heavy gold chain he's been wearing.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;" id="">When referee Pat Garrett turns and sees White Knight lifted clean off his feet and being choked into unconsciousness, he's quick to call for the bell and just a little less quick to break up the wrestlers. Johansson gets more than the odd chance to reach into the fray and pluck out a high-flier to pitch brutally into the mat, and he looks good doing it.<br id=""></span><br id=""><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;" id="">Double Dutch remain a relatively cohesive unit throughout, at least up until the final moments, where they band together with Jase long enough to score a fantastic triple dropkick on the big man, then seem to be setting up for their Double Dutch duelling legdrops. But De Pain has a change of heart and goes for the pin instead, getting a two-count on Herc who powers outward and upward to retaliate with a brutal short-arm clothesline. Van Anger is already up high but doesn't want to risk the leap into danger-- leaving a fast-thinking Jase Cole to come off the ropes and drop Hercules again with a low dropkick. Missy maintains control for a couple of minutes, but the crowd are getting behind the cowgirl, and she fights back <em id="">hard</em>.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;" id="">The minute leading into the last quarter is all Anna Ki, scoring with a series of flying forearms and then a delirious spinning headscissors that sends Miss Information tumbling. Breathing hard, Missy hauls a couple of times before getting her up... only to be abruptly countered into Anna's flip-over DDT. It sends him to the turnbuckle, where Pops is quick to move in with a boot to the gut before hauling him up for an early superplex that - were he fighting anyone else - might convince the crowd this was an easy squash.<br id=""></span><br id=""><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;" id="">The boss man is equal to it, however, fighting his way out and shoving his opponent back onto the mat before gesturing to the crowd as he climbs to his feet. A thudding missile dropkick meets the recovering Punisher, throwing him six feet and back onto his back with ample time bought for Byron to gain some speed off the ropes. A spear ensues, then a standing surfboard stretch that has the crowd singing along. It's not enough to put the Kosher One away, though, and Byron's blur of offensive motion leaves him needing to catch his breath.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;" id="">For several minutes it's a much more even affair, both men trading heavy shots as the pace gradually slows down. It never quite gets technical-- because when it starts to, it becomes abundantly clear that the Punisher can't keep up in that area, and he soon powers out to counter with a suplex or takedown. By the final innings both men are moving cautiously, respectful of the other's abilities, though shockingly it's Byron who makes the first critical mistake, going for a high dropkick that sees him thrown aside, facefirst into the mat. There certainly is! I can't take any of the credit for presentation, haha. I'm using Crayon's rather exceptional FictionPlus which you can read all about right'ere:

The only downside to it at the moment is there's no save function, so I'm writing everything up in Notepad and then spending a while transferring it across. A bit clunky at the moment but that's just me getting used to the system! Transferring that show took me about an hour, give or take.
