Something I've been thinking of doing, a mini-dynasty based upon the career of my user character presented as a documentary style thing. Would be set in 2030, which explains why Highlander is 66.

I also create the segment format tags, with the QUOTE tags, CENTER, BOLD, etc. So when I want to create a show, I create a copy of the master document. Then I copy n paste the segment formatting a dozen times and start copy n pasting the pictures where they need to go. Still takes time but its much faster than doing it from scratch every time. I had previously written things in Word without the tag formatting and then tried to paste everything in and I found that much more time-consuming and awkward. And amazingly frustrating if the board kills the post before its posted.</em></strong></p>

Quick question for the experienced diary writers and those who have advice, what are some helpful tips to make the process less long-winded technically?

I don't mean from a creative stand point but rather from a practicality point of view.

Things I have heard so far:

  • Don't include pictures
  • If you do have pictures, keep a word document of all the tags for quick reference
  • Set the formatting , tags in your draft (e.g. in Word) so you can just copy/past the whole thing over to your post

Are there any others people can thin of or already do? You see some writers be able to format their posts and they are huge, is this just a case of gritting your teeth and accepting it will take an age? Does this not prevent you from posting as it isn't even part of the creative process, just getting it onto the board?

Any input from people's past experiences or added tips would be greatly encouraged!

Cheers all

:D

I edit and copy the formatting from a previous post, and at times I've copied a match and used the code for a template. I find usually after a couple posts there is a "rhythm" you get into -- you know, a sort of metronome with formatting and the process speeds up. I'd say formatting takes ~5 minutes/segment for me.

I plan to start a new TEW diary with a custom fed (Unbreakable Diamond Canvas Grappling, to be reintroduced in my CVerse Mod). It will be a Road To Glory Speedrun, with the goal to break "whatever the record is" for The Road to Glory challenge in Japan -- and I'll be pulling out all the stops to do so (someone in the thread said the record was 6 years? Okay, we're doing 6 years)

So, essentially, I've had a HD crash. I wasn't able to transfer the majority of the data from my computer. Essentially, this means my USPW series and my EMLL data will come to an end.

I should be back in commission relatively soon, so my WWE/F Era of War and my WWF Series with Angel will continue. It'll slow down requests and my 2016 mod, but it shouldn't hamper them drastically. I [think] I've managed to save the remaining PPV screen caps for my last show with OSW Reviews Hulkamania.

I've been pondering on doing a new diary, but the intro post kinda spun out of control. I'm now thinking about turning it into a novella

This is the first part of the first chapter..Opinions?

'...Time is currently 7.34am and your listening to to NYFM. Next up is Kansas and..."

Bo Bailey hit the off switch on the alarm and yawned before sliding his legs over the edge of the bed and sitting up. He reached over to the bedside today for a glass of water and his daily painkillers; a reminder of all his years in the ring. Steadying his legs, he eased himself off the bed gently, not wishing to push himself too far. Mornings were particularly painful these days and it could take till lunchtime for him to feel himself. He made a slow walk towards the bathroom and gazed at himself in the mirror, looking to find the new wrinkle he was sure had appeared overnight before attempting the usual fight with his rapidly graying mustache.

'Sonova bitch.. ' he muttered to his mustache. 'I'm gonna shave you off if you don't start co-operating'

Whether by co-incidence or fear itself, he soon had himself looking presentable and dressed. He wore his usual black suit and pants coupled with a pressed white shirt. He didn't wear a tie; couldn't stand them around his neck and felt constricted whenever he had been forced to put one in, and in the almost unbearable all year round heat of the office, it had probably saved him life more than once by leaving them off. He reached for the remote and flicked it on.

'So, last night Supreme Wrestling Federation held Under Control' the presenter exclaimed wildly 'and once again we saw Brandon James defend the North American belt, this time against Valiant. With us is NYCW wrestler Dazzling Dave Diamond to provide us with some analysis'

Bo tuned out. Dave wasn't really known for his technical knowledge and was likely to make this a dull show so he settled down to work on his show notes. He had only decided to watch the show because of his history with them. Bo had worked at SWF for a decade and won many of the belts that decorated his apartment whilst in their employ, but it was no big secret that once you no longer made them any money, you were soon shown the door. While Richard Eisen - the owner of SWF - hadn't got as far as getting rid of him, Bo saw himself falling down the lineup and had got out as soon as his contract allowed him to. He now worked as the booker for New York City Wrestling, a small wrestling company that was seen as the place to see out the end of your career. NYCW was an old school haven, away from the entertainment aspect that had taken over modern wrestling. It was a place where you were judged on how you performed in the ring and not just on how much you could make the fans cheer your name or boo as you entered. It was his job to plan out the feuds that would be going through the next few months and who would come out the eventual winner. He still needed to plan the big finish to their next show, knowing already that he wanted to pass the belt on, but just couldn't decide on the finish.

'So is there any truth in the rumour..' the excited presenter said, breaking Bo out of his musings '..that The Stomper is planning to retire very soon'

'Well' Dazzling Dave replied. 'Its funny you should say that. He announced it to us just a few days ago..'

'Shit' Bo said angrily as the voice on the TV kept spilling secrets. 'You weren't meant to tell anyone just yet you idiot'

He grabbed the phone and dialed, muttering various curse words to himself as the line kept ringing and mentally imagining what he would do if he got his hands on Dazzling Dave. Most involved inserting Dave's head where the sun never shone.

'What!' came a horse voice on the other end of the line. 'Why the hell are you ringing me so early"

The voice on the other end was Derek Bradford or The Stomper as he was known to the public and owner of New York City Wrestling. To the locker room he was a legend having wrestled for over 40 years and as recently as the last show. He was known to be hard to get along with sometimes, especially early in the morning, but Bo knew otherwise. He knew the weary dad who would stay up to the early hours talking to his daughter who had moved abroad years back. Bo wouldn't usually dare ringing this early unless it was really important.

'Derek' Bo replied trying to hide the anger in his voice. 'You're about to get a shitstorm at your door. Dazzling Dave has just announced your retirement on live television'

'What the hell!' Derek replied with a mixture of annoyance and confusion followed by a long yawn. 'That wasn't going to be announced until next month'

'I'd love to say that it was the pressures of live TV getting to him, but he just can't keep his big month shut'

'I'm going to shut it next time I see him. Get to the office and I'll be there soon'

He heard the other end of the phone get slammed down and it rang in his ears for a few moments. He grabbed his coat and flat-cap and headed for the door.

Almost 20 years ago 16 whiz kid and billionnaire J.K. Stallings changed the face of the American wrestling scene with the creation of Hollyweird Grappling Company. 8 years in late 2004 unable to cope with the stress of the wrestling industry the young J.K. sold HGC to British Wrestling superstar Tommy Cornell, HGC would later become what it's known as today Total Championship Wrestling and firmly as one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world.

Fast forward to 2014, J.K. Stallings is back and so is HGC once again ready to rock the foundations of the United States Wrestling scene.

I wonder how your roster will shape up (as the SWF, TCW and USPW have all the over talent)?

I realize that I'm a bit of a flake on diaries, but would anyone be interested in a Championship Wrestling from Tennessee (from the T-Verse for those who don't know) one? I've already gotten a month done and I like where I'm going.

I'd be down for it. Never seen a CWT dynasty before (as far as I'm aware).

For those who might remember my MAW dynasty that unfortunately died (due to school and the fact my PC is broke) I'm throwing this up here. Because I just learned how to set up TEW on my MacBook.

OH SNAP!

I recently went back and re-read your MAW dynasty. It was fantastic work. Can't wait to see how this turns out! :D

Hey guys,

New to this forum, and pretty new at TEW13. I've been reading some really interesting diaries, and want to take a swing myself. Anyone interested in reading about Edge buying a local promotion in NYC, hiring some WWE washouts and Indy workers, and starting a dynasty?

If so, give me some thoughts and ideas please!

Thanks in advance.

Edge, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder reunion!

The latter two turn heel and divide the company into two.

Edge & Christian vs. Hawkins & Ryder = $$$

SRS post though: sounds like a cool idea. When I started my first diary, I was told 'if you build it, they will come', and it's the best thought you can have going into a diary. :)

You almost touched on one of my starting story lines.... Edge/Hawkins in a heel Authority/Franchise Player type partnership, vs a surprise baby face.

I am using the real world mod, but the WWE is the backdrop to my story, not the focus. I won't be editing anything serious, only cosmetic things. So hiring Christian and Ryder isn't possible, because they're exclusive with the big company. Edge is still unable to wrestle, so not gaining much there either.

I am fascinated with the idea of starting local, and building to global. I have a few pages written, and will go ahead and start posting tonight..
