Through My Eyes-The Private Diaries of Vincent Russo

For better or worse one of the most polarizing figures in all of the history of professional wrestling is Vincent James Russo.Training with the legendary Johnny Rodz, Russo entered the sport being hired as a freelance writer by the then WWF for their WWF Raw Magazine, Vince parlayed that opportunity to join the WWF's creative team when the company itself was at the lowest of it's lows getting horrible ratings, live shows drawing less and less. Russo took the WWF product from kid oriented cartoon like presentation to a more adult themed, harder edged product. It took time but eventually the WWF recovered while Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling riding high for almost 2 years seemed to make mistake after mistake and being the behemoth of company with layers and layers of bureaucracy making it virtual impossible for WCW to right itself with any speed or sense of urgency began to flounder. In what many considered a desperate move WCW made an offer to Vince Russo and his writing partner Ed Ferrera. Limited by Time Warner(parent company of WCW)Standards and Practices as well as those who thought pro wrassling being too low brow for their company Russo had an almost impossible taskt, to try and make WCW relevant and successful against his former boss Vince McMahon and the WWF. With the bigger than life egos, talent all jockeying to “keep their spots”, with the big name talent invoking their “creative clauses” to kibosh any attempt made to push younger, hungrier talent it was beyond an uphill battle. Eventually Russo was fired, rehired and then fired again as WCW went on the auction block and was picked up for pocket change dug from the couch by none other than Vince McMahon owner and arch nemesis of WCW. These are the stories of that heady 5 year period as told by the man himself.

“What you are about to read are the journals I kept of my life in the wrestling biz. Written as they happened, by my own hand. These are the matches, notes, ideas, tales and gossip that made up my life during a very wild ride through the 2 biggest companies at the time, the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. No punches will be pulled, no beating around the bush. I am Vince Russo and this is my story.”

-Vince Russo

Naoki Tanisaki (T-Hawk), Akira Tozawa, Uhaa Nation, BxB Hulk, Kzy, CIMA, Gamma & Don Fujii

Formed: March 2012

Info

Formed after Akira Tozawa and BxB Hulk turned on Blood Warriors leader Cima in January 2012, Mad Blankey officially came to being on the 1st of March 2012 when Tozawa renamed Blood Warriors as Mad Blankey. The name is a combination of Mad Capsule Markets and Blankey Jet City, two bands that fellow Mad Blankey founder BxB Hulk is a fan of and the distinctive colour scheme and logo came from Hulk. Also starting members of Mad Blankey were Tozawa and Hulk’s fellow Blood Warrior teammates Naoki Tanisaki (now known as T-Hawk), Cyber Kong and Kzy.

The next addition to the folds of Mad Blankey was the former Super Shenlong, now going by the name of Mondai Ryu - the name loosely translating to Problem Dragon - Ryu joining on the 18th of March.

Winning the 2012 Summer Adventure Tag League - turned into a trios league in order to crown new Open The Triangle Gate champions - Tozawa, Hulk and Tanisaki would go on to lose the championships on the 21st of October. Another failed championship challenge on the 23rd of December saw Cyber Kong kicked out of Mad Blankey after he was deemed to be responsible for many defeats. Naoki Tanisaki was next to leave Mad Blankey after the 5 on 5 elimination match which saw the Jimmyz beat Mad Blankey and Tanisaki exiled from Dragon Gate but not before one last match where Tanisaki teamed with the real Naoki Tanizaki to lose to Tozawa and Hulk (to read more about this, read the Jimmyz stable info).

The next major event in Mad Blankey history would happen in the famous Kouraken Hall on the first of August 2013. The main event of the show saw Mad Blankey face rivals -akatusi- in a “Losing Unit Disbands, Loser of The Fall Loses Their Mask of Hair” match. Mad Blankey would come out on top of that match with Tozawa gaining the pinfall over the then Super Shenlong III Yosuke Watanabe (now better known as Yosuke

Uhaa Nation was soon quickly thrown out of Mad Blankey for refusing to fight against Tozawa, Cyber Kong rejoining Mad Blankey on the same day.

Naruki Doi was the next to join Mad Blankey, turning on his long time tag team partner in Masato Yoshino to end World-1 International.

Dead or Alive 2014 saw the next big change in Mad Blankey as the 6-Man Cage Match - A staple of Dragon Gate, six men enter with a wager of either their hair or mask and the last man out of the cage loses. In 2014 the match saw BxB Hulk, Cima, Jimmy Kanda, Masato Yoshino, Mr. Kyu Kyu Naoki Tanizaki Toyonaka Dolphin and Naruki Doi face off in the cage with each man having a scapegoat to take the punishment if they lost. The scapegoats were Dragon Kid for CIMA, Shachihoko BOY for Yoshino, Genki Horiguchi H.A.Gee.Mee!! for Tanizaki, Jimmy Susumu for Kanda, Kzy for Doi and Cyber Kong for Hulk - saw BxB Hulk and Naruki Doi as the last two men. All of Mad Blankey - bizarrely including Cyber Kong - fought to save Doi and have Hulk lose the match but it was to no avail as Hulk grabbed the final flag - flags can only be grabbed after a pinfall or a submission and grabbing a flag is the only way to guarantee safety - and forced Kzy to have his head shaved. Post-match YAMATO ordered Doi and Hulk to shake hands and have thing settled in Mad Blankey. The two shook hands - not without some hesitation from Hulk. The peace didn’t last long as Hulk delivered a First Flash to both YAMATO and Doi signalling an end to his time in Mad Blankey.

With Hulk firmly out of Mad Blankey, the remaining members waged war on him. In two separate occasions, Mad Blankey faced off against Hulk in handicap matches with Hulk losing both times. The first time on the 5th of June saw Mad Blankey defeat Hulk to retain the rights to the name and logo of Mad Blankey, the second time on the 5th of August which saw Naruki Doi, Cyber Kong, Kzy and Mondai Ryu defeat Hulk with Doi becoming the “provisional” Open The Dream Gate champion - Hulk winning the championship from YAMATO on the 20th of July at Kobe World 2014. Hulk would defeat Doi in the deciding match to continue his first reign as the Open The Dream Gate champion.

In amongst all of this, the notorious and nefarious Dr Muscle joined Mad Blankey, unmasking to reveal himself to be former -akatusi- rookie Chihiro Tominaga, now known as Punch Tominaga due to his punch perm haircut [A haircut in Japan that is often associated with unsavoury types]

The next additions to the unit would come after a round of Doi Darts in late 2014. Doi Darts being a familiar concept in Dragon Gate used to decide many things in the past - Punch Tominaga actually being a recipient of this in the past. The darts would decide that CIMA, Gamma, Don Fujii and K-Ness would be the new recruits to Mad Blankey - all men formerly a part of We Are Team Veteran until they were forced to split by the Millenials. After some hesitation, all four accepted their fates as “Mad Blankey Zombies”.

Dr Muscle would return to the folds of Mad Blankey briefly in January 2015 as Kzy used this alias to win the Open The Brave Gate championship tournament caused by Flamita vacating the belt in late 2014. Initially appearing to be on the side of Mad Blankey, he would turn on them in a 6 on 6 All Out War with the Millenials by throwing salt in CIMA’s face, unmasking and declaring his allegiance lay with BxB Hulk’s Dia.Hearts unit. This marked the last remaining member of Mad Blankey to leave the folds.

The "Mad Blankey Zombies" - barring K-Ness - would finally leave Mad Blankey at the Dead or Alive 2015 event with Ryo Jimmy Saito - under the guise of Super Saito - would finally get through to Don Fujii, CIMA and Gamma and help them overcome the Mad Blankey control.

OPEN THE DRAGON STORM

COMING THIS AUGUST

Update from me here, aiming for the first week of August for the start of this. I didn't quite expect the info section to turn into an essay but I suppose it's also a handy guide for anyone who wants to jump into Dragon Gate. A win-win for all! :D

So I have not done a diary in over a year (this having to be an adult is not all it's cracked up to be :D). Anyway I am kicking around a couple of ideas and wanted to see what the community thought.

In my watcher save game, it's 2016 and both SWF and USPW have fallen to Cult leaving TCW as the #1 company in the world but NOTBW and CGC are close (in North America).

1) Mid Atlantic Wrestling - Sam Keith decides to hang up the boots and leaves the company to his son Matthew, but does not want the company to remain a feeder for the rest of the world and (with some editing) they get to High Regional or Cult (to sign some bigger names to written) and make a run at getting larger.

2) USPW - Dean Daniels has taken the company over but they are really treading water and a lot of their top talent have either signed elsewhere or their contracts were left to expire and they are unemployed. The idea is they lose their TV and PPV deals and are forced to sell to an unknown group (user character TBD) who comes in and tried to rebuild the company.

My vision is to model either option as a Ring of Honor style of product but mix in a little of TNA's product from 2002/2004 and see what I can do there.

Any feedback is welcome!

If that's your vision, best to go with MAW. There is very little change needed to get over to your vision.

One thing that annoys me personally is when a dynasty starts with a known promotion and then suddenly a rush of changes happen. I get that people want to put their own stamp on things but it's just a massive turn-off for me to see sweeping changes right at the start. I'm much more interested in gradual evolution.

Yeah I also feel that way about sweeping changes, but the thought of having to go through the build up with the current MAW rules (Only Unemployed guys and no one over 30) isn't what I want to write about since I am doing that with them in my solo game.

I forgot to mention in that save that MAW reached Regional in September 2015 and somehow ended up with Andre Jones. I will have to play around with a couple of test games and see if I can get a TV deal with MAW, because in my head their show will be a lot like the current ROH Television show that is on Destination America.

I do appreciate the feedback.

I mean yes it is there but Mean Jean sort makes that rule null for me anytime I play as them. Also, you can work around that because you would be a new owner who can put out a new mission statement as to how the company will be run under you.</p>

Last piece from me before I actually start the thread up. It's not a stable post, this time it's a little something I've been working on.

Instead of the usual prediction prizes (or in the case of myself, prediction league tables that never amount to anything), I'll be "handing" out the somewhat trading card-esque images you see above (It won't be both, I'm trying to decide on a background just now, the above is basically a template). If anyone has any thoughts about them just now, I'm all ears (unless you're telling me they are horrendously bad and I should just turn off my internet forever! :p)

And for the last time!

The road I walk is paved in gold,

To glorify my platinum soul.

I am the closest thing to God,

So worship me and never stop.

I got what you want.

It's just "don't stop".

You are down on your knees,

begging me for more.

Some projects being previewed in here that look very tasty. DG will be fun, MH, and love the trading cards.

Really intrigued with what you offer up with GNW, foolinc. Glad you caught the GNW lefever. Although I haven't booked them yet, I am quite taken by the little Canadian company and its got a little place in my heart already.

I'm glad someone else is intrigued by, as MHero put it, Dustin LeDickhead. :D

This diary is based off of the game I just started two days ago where Dustin has a three month contract and I have an owner rule that will block me from re-signing him. It will run for the length of his contract, 6 shows.

Hopefully it will be the first in a series of small diaries that will turn into a spiritual successor to TEW 108: I Can Be A Booker!? .

Does this mean I'm technically like the teacher's assistant? :p

Can I get some diary advice?

I'm still trying to figure out a reasonable publication schedule, not too fast for people to read and post predictions, not too slow that people lose interest.

I was toying with every Tuesday and Saturday, but not that seems like an eternity. What have you folks found work for you?

Not the best person to consult here but I find not having a schedule to be more productive. I'll post shows when I want to instead of trying to stick religiously to a set post date.

I one hundred percent agree with this statement. I tired to keep a schedule when I did my first couple of diaries and it made me have a love/hate relationship with those diaries because I always felt like I had to publish the next update of the diary on the day I said I would. I felt like I owed what few readers I had that much.

Telling people that I was going to update on a certain day made my enjoyment in writing the diary less. Therefore, now I just update when I feel like it.

Yeah, it really takes the weight of expectation off as well. No need to fret about upsetting people who were waiting to read a show on a certain date.

To expand on his question if you are posting a set number of shows then taking a break would the set dates be a good strategy to have? As in 5 shows are written and you are telling people exactly when they are coming...but they know you will be taking off time after that.

Eh, I'd just freeflow it. Post about the five shows and let people know that once they're posted, a break will ensue. Most of the best known and highest regarded diaries never really stuck to any sort of post schedule (that I know of).

I see no problem with that because you already have the stuff in the can so you can deliver them on whatever date you say barring anything happening in your real life that would stop you from doing so.

I've been away,

Searching for a reason,

Another purpose to find.

I've stood in hell,

Where many had to suffer,

I stared the devil in the eyes.

I've seen the world through the eyes of a nomad,

Home is where the heart is I've been told,

So I go.

Tend your light,

Cause on this night,

I'll be coming home.

GNW: Falling Star

I ****ed 17 girls in a row last night

and 10 of them gave me head

I had to tip the maid a hundred dollar bill

to clean the wet spot off the bed,

I banged 17 girls in the grocery store

and never lost my erection

Seventeen girls in a row

When I was done, they were begging for more
