Admittedly though, I approach gimmicks in an arguably cheap sort of way. I took the advice of people in this forum and started creating my own gimmicks, setting the face and/or heel rating above 85 and the other three between 20 and 30, and I've been getting much better (and more consistent) results than I did with the default gimmicks. It's not like I'm getting 90+ ratings all the time, but the vast majority have scored above 70, and it's pretty common to see them in the 80s.

To be fair, I know that the game wasn't intended to work that way, but my goal with the SWF thus far has just been to tell good stories, so I don't feel bad about taking the easy route when it comes to gimmicks. I'm not even above reloading once or twice if an important worker's gimmick bombs too badly. Considering that random luck can be (and for me, literally has been) the difference between a <50 and >90 rating, giving creative freedom might not be worth the risk to those who use the default gimmicks and have too much pride to reload. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I suppose it also depends on your creativity stat. From what I've read here, the more control you give to the worker, the less your results will depend on your creativity level. If your creativity is garbage, you might be better off giving creative freedom.

Just a bit of an update from my September 2014 SWF save.

First piece of big news is that i turned Jack Bruce heel! After a monster year long reign with the SWF title, he eventually lost it to Remo at Supreme Challenge. He lost his rematch, but i wasn't too interested in keeping the feud going as neither seem to know how to call a match! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Anyway, the next night on Supreme TV he gets attacked by the All Americans (who have been Heel on my save for a while) of all people. Frustrated by falling so quickly down the card and losing the spotlight to Rocky Golden and Remo, Bruce decides to turn on Angry Gilmore at their PPV match against the All Americans, causing Gilmore to lose the match. With the heel turn completed, Bruce's ego is being fed by being back in the spotlight. With a huge boost of momentum (A*) and A popularity across Canada, Mexico and the US, the feud has been huge. it's the most popular wrestler on the planet against the best technical wrestler, and Gilmore is charismatic in his own right!

I'd like to pose the question, has anyone else taken the plunge and turned Bruce? He is a huge face and to be honest, i'm noticing quite a hole on the face side now. I'm bringing in Jay Chord from TCW (their World Champion after losing Golden to me <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) as a face even though i'd rather have him as a heel just to try fill the gaps.

I also learned quite a bit today about the game. I didn't realise until today that when you make a contract offer for wrestler's (Jay Chord being the example), the other company will modify their offer accordingly to yours, to try and outbid you. I always wondered why Nicky Champion chose TCW over me...<img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I also learned that those contract stipulations where you say 'backbone of the roster' or 'as one of our icons' actually has certain benefits and disadvantages, which i thought was cool. Befored i just thought they were there for aesthetics, never thought to check the ''?''. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I haven't really played a game with a marquee promotion so I'd like to ask: How difficult is it to bankrupt TCW, and do they allow themselves to be taken over when in debt?

I'm contemplating a powerplay save with SWF where I turn off some restrictions, reset some of the feuds, and put Angry Gilmore over most of the roster in a bid to get a bunch of A-A* PPV title matches, along with having Faith try to boost KC Glenn's performance skill to God Tier and Remo/Jack Bruce/Rich Money segment abuse, and I'm wondering if you can wear down TCW in a few years and get a Cornell/Gilmore money printer going.

Well I heard some long term saves had NOTBPW go under, but maybe that was just a case of no more guys with last names containing stone or McFly in the main event and a dearth of talent. I figured TCW might be easy because they only have what, a million to start with? I also noticed in my L2G save that they are pulling a lot of 72 to 74 rated shows and they havent even lost the top guys yet.

It's probably because of their limited funds since USPW still signs workers to written deals even after they drop to cult.

I would say TCW going out of business is unlikely. Even though they don't start with a lot of money in the bank, they still make a nice amount of profit per and have probably the best starting roster in the game. Most of their main event/upper midcard workers are very talented and not too old and they have undercard guys with bright futures like Edd Stone, Aaron Andrews and Jay Chord. I think the main reason they struggle with grades sometimes is because the AI doesn't try to fix the messy backstage area by hiring positive influences.

As for NOTBPW, they seem to struggle later on because almost all their upper midcard/main event are over 36 years old at the start of the game and they don't really have any good young workers on the roster that can take their place. Plus their product means they don't get much sponsor money.

TCW seem pretty hard to topple. They have some real quality in the undercard that they can move up over time. Many of those are talent that the AI won't try to steal as they aren't SWF or USPW style workers.

The biggest factor is Cornell himself. He's one of the best workers in the world, still relatively young, not that damaged, and he's the owner. So long as he's kicking around, they can put on matches of enough quality to not fall too far. Unless he dies or gets injured, he's not going anywhere for a long while. Cornell doesn't need to be surrounded by a ton of great workers so that he can at least carry TCW as a solid Cult company.

The money thing is less of an issue than it appears. TCW tends to make money quite easily. They don't have massive contracts, and even if you force them into a bidding war that they win, its only going to be a couple of contracts. The AI running TCW won't throw money at a developmental company or hire a bunch of developmental talent. I don't know that it would actually be possible to force an AI-run TCW to spend so much money that they bankrupt themselves....

Looking back it's somewhat hard to tell exactly why it happened; I can only imagine the wrestling industry and economy both fell apart. It's somewhat strange; both companies were still in the high 70's/low 80's popularity, their stars likewise had high popularity yet they were struggling to sell out 5,000 seats for their TV shows (which obviously impacts on their bottom line)... although their PPV buys held up (CGC's second highest PPV buyrate came the month they went out of business). NOTBPW probably weren't helped by a long Steve DeColt title reign; his main events (both TV and Event) tended to be in the 70's while you could see high 80's rated matches lower down the card but otherwise it's a slight mystery.

Even if they are on writtens?

In my games if/when TCW fall to Cult they tend to sign a lot of wrestlers to PPA contracts, which leave them ripe for stealing. In another of my games they lost Rocky Golden to SWF, Edd Stone to WLW and then in one month Floyd Goldworthy, Rick Law, Joey Minnesota, Sammy Bach, Jason Azaria, Wolf Hawkins, Jay Chord and Danny Fonzarelli all to CGC when it rose in size. TCW's overall position wasn't helped by the fact Cornell spent virtually a year out with a serious concussion... Joel Bryant might still be useful but he's not "headline every show" good as he ended up being...

I need some ideas for a new character. I don't have TEW in front of me; so, I was hoping that there may be some help out there.

I'm looking for an available worker with strong entertainment skills. Mostly an unknown (F+ to D-) who would be willing to work for the SWF. I already have Cage and Starr on my roster; so, probably not them.

Also, a max age of 34. Anything less would be best. Needs to be able to play a strong heel.

Go!!!! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

If only September was a bit closer...Doctor Michael O'Haire fits pretty damn well...pretty good on the mic, solid in ring, can play a great heel and only 30...obviously the only problem is that he debuts with no popularity. Citizen X (despite my hatred of him) seems like your best bet...
