Black Canvas Gaming: My Way To Play

Recommended Posts

Hey yo, FIN here.

Here's my humble
MWTP
(as in 'My Way To Play', my invention
:o
) diary which is all about playing the game TEW2013: 0% of normal diary stuff, 100% pure gaming. This is going to be all about the gameplay, about the way I book, the way I plan and play the game. I did two of these tutorial kind of diaries in TEW2010 with WEXXV and GCG which were liked and in many occasions people said that the 'tutorials' helped as this kind of tutorial is a great way to learn new stuff and see things from a different point of view. Also sharing all the info motivates me in trying my best in playing the game since the results are going to be public.
;)
And of course this is something for me to do whilst our 8RoW diary game gets properly underway.

Promotion of my choice is Black Canvas Grappling because it's one of the hardest promotions to start (atleast in my opinion) mainly because: It's a new promotion, it's not popular (Only
E+
in two regions,
E-
elsewhere in Japan) and has a unique roster in my view as there seems to be only young lions and old veterans, not to forget that it's competing against five other promotions of the same size in Japan in all of the regions at the start. I also love the performance biased promotions (I view GCG as NOAH from real life and so BCG is continuing from that point of view as they're now the 'pure puro' company) and I also like them because I can advance in a lot faster pace when I don't need to add huge amount of angles. One of the reasons I play in Japan in most of my TEW games is because of the Loyalty aspect too: I like to create my own superstars and when you don't have to fear that they're going to be taken away from you makes me happy, altough it's a new game and a lot has been changed so we'll see.. We'll be focusing on short and long term plans, worker skill development, perfect show theory and pretty much anything related to this game.

Hope you enjoy, comment and give suggestions as I play along!

I will be using Kazu Yoshizawa as my User Character, talent points I chose are: 7 Negotiating, 5 motivating, 5 creativity, Leadership 4 and Diplomacy 4. BCG has good backstage morale (85%) to start with so I won't be needing the points in Leadership or Diplomacy so I put those two points into Negotiations.

I have no Owner Goals, I will be using the Dirt Sheet extensively troughout the game. We'll be making notes of each match basicly and micromanaging till we get bored. And we will.
:D

Sounds awesome. Booking strategy fascinates me, and yet is surprisingly rarely touched on here beyond "always use these notes" and "90+ psych minimum". This should be fun <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

In my opinion these all-around dudes with Average skills are the guys who'll gain most in being in a tag team with a veteran wrestler. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://koti.mbnet.fi/sadhappy/BCG/Bunrakuken%20Torii.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Name: Bunrakuken Torii </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Age: 23</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Style: Puroresu</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Size: Middleweight</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Push: Upp. Midcard</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Popularity: E/E+</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Skills: ++ = = ++ +++ ++</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#00FF00;">Loyal to BCG.</span></strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> "Machine Gun" Bunrakuken Torii is a rising star in Japan, one of the first break-out stars that Black Canvas Grappling have unearthed. An athletic 240lber, Torii gained the nickname "Machine Gun" because of his rapid fire forearm attacks, especially when he's backed an opponent into a corner and can really unleash hell; the forearm is actually the basis of a large percentage of his moves, including a sweet flying forearm from the top rope and his finisher, the spinning forearm smash. Known for his warrior spirit, Torii looks a major star in the making."</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Verdict: I'm gonna love this guy in five years or so. He would go on to get the nickname "Dynamite" thanks to his Narahashi Cutter finisher, which the announcers called the "most explosive" finishing move around. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> A lot was expected from Narahashi - perhaps too much, as the weight of expectation was clearly a burden that held him back, and he was eventually released in 2007 after completely falling out of favour. <p>BCG is in a weird spot with lots of past or future main eventers, but no one who looks like a real star of the present.</p><p> </p><p>

In my BCG game I ended up signing Shingen Miyazaki away from GCG. He's got the talent to be a main eventer for BCG, and it makes sense for him to jump ship since he has no loyalty and has been stuck in their midcard.</p>

... Will mean that the "Young Lion" system is active.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

So it's pretty much all about the in-ring skills rather than popularity although it plays a small part in the match ratings of course. You'll know it from the 'heat' section in the match reports. No gimmicks or if they are used, simple and not risky. No risky matches or angles, people also want to see solid matches with clean finishes. We will not get a TV show from a Mainstream station in the future that's for sure. Young Lion system is active so we won't be giving our Young Lions (it used to be 25 and younger with less than D- respect but now it's 32 with D- respect (?)) wins over the more experienced guys. If we do it'll seriously hurt the match grade as the crowd won't accept it, nor will the veteran wrestlers.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In our roster we have 10 'Young Lions' although I'm quite sure that many of them will acquire enough Respect during the first few tours so it shouldn't present a problem. Young Lions can beat each other of course. </div></div><img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We are Touring in January so I've set up two weekly shows named "BCG Bulls On Parade Tour (Tue)" and "BCG Bulls On Parade Tour (Thu)" so our weekly shows will be on Tuesday and Thursday. Both shows are 1½h of lenght and Medium sized. We are E+/E which might be too low for Medium, my plan is to book the Tuesday show in just one region till we get big there (if we don't get any popularity increase, we start touring with the tuesday show also) and the Thursday show would be the one where we tour the country, so that our (small) popularity won't drop there and of course we're going to have one annual show on week 2 or 3.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Torii does not like being in the opener match or in tag team matches, we have to change his gimmick too, same goes for Yokokawa. I actually had this as 40min match originally but realised that Hall might die in the middle of it. Even 30min is too much for the old man. But we got a C out of this! I expected D+, C- at max but C! What a way to start this game! Funakoshi clearly enjoys in being in Main Event matches. I wonder what this match would have got without the match lenght and stamina penalty.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"Haranobu Kobayashi is a powerful Japanese wrestler, nicknamed "The Hammer". Tall and lean with a great look, perhaps his biggest asset is the fact that he looks like a champion-in-waiting; the fact that he is rapidly developing the in-ring skills to back that up means that he is seen as a very bright prospect for the future. He is noted for having an excellent finisher, the Kobayashi Plunge - a high vertical suplex, thrown out into a devastating Sit-Out Powerbomb pin."</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

These new guys skill ratings can be deceiving since it just says "In Ring & Perofrmance: Average" so that's four sections squashed into one. Still, he's a superstar in the making for sure. Pretty much same thing can be said of all these four guys, the latter three had "Strong" in their In Ring & Performance but this guy has the look about him that the other three don't have. "Serene K" Kadonomaro Kamisaka is a Japanese wrestler, noted for his complete expressionlessness, giving the exact same blank look whether he's on the attack, defence, or giving an interview. Some diaries can go an entire year and they'll only advance 3 months because the writer does an in depth write up of each show. That's cool, but variety is the spice of life. A diary that can speed run a year brings it's only stuff to the table.</p>
