After the first few rounds, the coaches will decide the teams and the competition begins today with the first two fights.

 

Dana White and the coaches are and after a meeting, all attending the gym.

 

Dana White congratulates the fighters who qualified.

 

Dana White flips the coin and the first to pick the fighters is ... Luke Rockhold, Anderson Silva will pick the first fight.

After choosing teams, started the training teams. After a few days of training, the teams met for the announcement of the first fight. Coach, Anderson Silva will make the first choice.

 

And the first fight is ...

Round 1

Round one begins! Ishii fakes shooting in, but Barnatt doesn't fall for it. Ishii tries for a right jab but Barnatt moves out of range. They both meet with strikes, but neither does any damage. They wind up in a tight clinch. Ishii attempts to set up a judo-based throw to take Barnatt to the ground. Barnatt blocks the attempted throw and takes control of the grapple. The grapple breaks up after a short struggle, and the two fighters step apart. Barnatt throws a speculative right, but it is nowhere near hitting. Not letting Barnatt settle, Ishii moves in closer. Barnatt moves in quickly after a wayward punch and hits a hard leg kick. Both fighters come toe-to-toe and strike, but none of the strikes result in significant damage being done. Barnatt feints stepping in. Barnatt throws a speculative right, but it is nowhere near hitting. Not letting Barnatt settle, Ishii moves in closer. There's a takedown attempt from Ishii. Ishii gets caught out and eats a stiff left jab. A straight right fails to land and Barnatt is able to fire back with a solid left. Time expires and we come to the end of round one.

 

Round 2

We are back underway! Barnatt feints an attack, keeping Ishii on his toes. Barnatt avoids a quick jab and hits a hard push kick to the chest. Ishii avoids a flurry of punches. Barnatt gets Ishii with a punch to the ribs, but it lacked power. Ishii presses in closer to attack. Ishii throws a right jab but Barnatt avoids it. Barnatt circles, looking for an opening. Ishii doesn't let Barnatt settle, stepping in closer to impose himself. Ishii shoots in for a takedown. Barnatt tries to avoid Ishii. Barnatt avoids the takedown attempt. Barnatt keeps his cool as Ishii fakes shooting in. Ishii catches an attempted body kick and shows his judo background by going straight for a trip, getting it! Barnatt manages to pull guard. Ishii begins trying to pass guard and get a better position. Barnatt comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Ishii in guard. Ishii leans back to avoid a couple of wild swings from Barnatt. Ishii looks to pass guard and get side control. Ishii passes to half guard. Time expires and we come to the end of round two.

 

After two rounds the winner by unanimous decision is ... Luke Barnatt

 

Team Rockhold wins the first fight and will make the choice of the second fight.

 

After another week of training teams meet at UFC Gym to announce the second fight.

Round 1

There's the opening bell! Huveneers steps back to avoid a kick to the body. Huveneers avoids a low kick. A feinted high kick gets a reaction, and Huveneers is lucky to avoid the follow-up inside leg kick. Huveneers throws a left jab but Blachowicz avoids it. Blachowicz comes in closer, looking to attack from the pocket. Standing his ground, Huveneers looks happy to engage Blachowicz in the pocket. Huveneers backs away to create some more space. Huveneers tries for a left jab but Blachowicz moves out of range. Blachowicz looks like he wants to stand in the pocket and strike with Huveneers. Huveneers sees a chance to dive for a single leg, but Blachowicz is able to defend against it. Blachowicz narrowly misses Huveneers with a right uppercut. Huveneers doesn't press the issue, allowing Blachowicz to circle. Blachowicz hops around from foot to foot, looking for an opening. Huveneers seems to be waiting for Blachowicz to make a move. Blachowicz nails Huveneers with a series of quick jabs. Time expires and we come to the end of round one.

 

Round 2

There's the bell for the start of the round! Blachowicz avoids a quick jab and hits a couple of hard rights! Huveneers backs off, looking extremely dazed...that last shot may have knocked him loopy! Blachowicz grabs the stunned Huveneers in a guillotine choke and drops down to tighten it! A guillotine choke is applied; Huveneers isn't tapping out though! It looks like the choke is not perfectly applied, and that is allowing Huveneers to breathe. The hold is released, Blachowicz realised that he was gassing his arms on an attempt that wasn't going to finish the fight. Huveneers attempts to pass guard and gain a better position. He can't quite manage to get past guard on this attempt. Blachowicz attempts to lock on a triangle choke. Huveneers pulls free before the triangle can be locked in. Huveneers attempts to pass guard and gain a better position. He can't quite manage to get past guard on this attempt. Blachowicz works some separation, and Huveneers ends up standing looking down at him. Blachowicz takes a right hand, but it didn't connect well and he uses that moment to stand back up. Backing out of range, Huveneers circles tentatively. Blachowicz doesn't press the issue, allowing Huveneers to circle. Blachowicz comes in with a couple of jabs, using them as cover so that he can shoot in. Huveneers tries to avoid Blachowicz. Blachowicz doesn't get the takedown, Huveneers avoided it. Blachowicz looks to be trying to close the distance between them. Huveneers tries to counter by dropping down and going for a single leg, but Blachowicz defended it well. Time expires and we come to the end of round two.

 

After two rounds the winner by unanimous decision is ... Jan Blachowicz

 

Another victory for Team Rockhold. After another defeat Anderson Silva gets very nervous with the team and asks for an immediate response at the next fight.

 

Time Rockhold continues with the choice of the fights.

UFC on FX: Bisping vs. Mousasi - Press Conference

- Bisping said he will give "welcome" to Mousasi in this division.

 

- Mousasi said he hopes to win to get into the TOP 10 in the Middleweight Division.

 

- Michael McDonald said that Pickett win impressively, can enter the TOP 5 in the next ranking.

Welterweight Bout: Michael Page vs. Ben Askren

 

Round 1

There's the opening bell! Page tries for a spinning heel kick but Askren moves out of range. Page counters a left jab by hitting a clean jab. A dangerous flying knee strike from Page hits Askren, sending him crashing down to the ground! Askren shakes off the blow almost immediately though, and waits for Page to make a move. Askren takes a right hand, but it didn't connect well and he uses that moment to stand back up. A nicely executed one-two combination sets up a takedown attempt from Askren. Page sees the takedown coming and tries to move. The takedown is unsuccessful, Page avoided Askren. Moving in closer, Askren looks like he wants to strike from the pocket. Askren moves into the pocket. Moving in closer, Askren looks like he may want to wrestle Page. He pulls Page into a grapple. Askren uses underhooks to gain solid control, and is looking for a takedown. Page cannot stop being lifted up and blasted with a Greco-Roman slam, he can only pull guard! In guard, Askren catches his breath, content just to throw a couple of punches to the body. Page is controlled against the ground, unable to shift Askren off of him. Askren lies on top of Page, basically smothering him. In guard, Askren throws a couple of punches designed to keep Page guessing. Askren is trying to pass guard. He can't quite manage to get past guard on this attempt. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Page.

 

Round 2

And here we go, round two! Askren bobs and weaves, trying to get Page to commit. Page counters a left jab with a couple of nice shots. Page throws a barrage of big right hands but Askren moves out of range. Askren chooses to shoot in on Page. Page attempts to avoid Askren as he shoots in. The takedown is unsuccessful, Page avoided Askren. Moving in closer, Askren looks like he may want to wrestle Page. Askren grabs Page and pulls him into a grapple. Askren, controlling the grapple with Page, tries to scoop him up for a slam. Page doesn't allow himself to be lifted, and he gets away from Askren. Page slips past a left jab and fires back with a superb spinning back roundhouse kick, putting Askren down, dazed! Askren shakes off the blow almost immediately though, and waits for Page to make a move. Askren tries to connect with an up-kick, but it just makes Page step back. Page looks to get on top of Askren. Askren moves quickly, scrambling for position before Page can get a hold. The scramble ends with both fighters standing, facing each other. Page switches to a southpaw stance. Page avoids a quick jab and hits a kick to the outside of the left leg. Askren swiftly avoids a barrage of big punches, having fallen for a feint. Askren looks like he might be trying to get in close and wrestle with Page. Page finds himself pulled into a grappling contest. Getting underhooks, Askren looks for a takedown. Page cannot stop being lifted up and blasted with a Greco-Roman slam, he can only pull guard! Round two is brought to an end as time runs out. I think Page took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

 

Round 3

There's the bell and round number three begins! Askren counters a right kick to the body by hitting a left. Askren comes in, looking for a quick takedown. Page tries to avoid the takedown. The takedown is unsuccessful, Page avoided Askren. Moving forward, Page counters a left jab with a solid left jab. Askren looks like he might be trying to get in close and wrestle with Page. Page is pulled into a grapple. Askren looks to scoop his opponent up for a slam. Page defends it well though, and slips away from Askren. Askren narrowly misses Page with a right uppercut. Page comes in closer to press the issue. Askren avoids a teep and hits a clean left. Askren comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Page. Page ends up grappling for supremacy with Askren. Getting underhooks, Askren looks for a takedown. Askren gets the takedown by using the underhooks for control and working a trip! Page pulls guard. Askren is trying to pass guard. Page comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Askren in guard. Page throws out some punches, but Askren leans back to avoid them. Askren attempts to pass guard. Page can't fend off the effort, and can only stop Askren at half guard. We reach the time limit and this fight is over. I have to give that round to Askren, but only a 10-9.

 

The ring announcer is now giving the official scores. All three judges have scored it 29-28.

 

So the winner, by unanimous decision, is Michael 'Venon' Page!

Middleweight Bout: Tom Watson vs. Mamed Khalidov

 

Round 1

Round one begins! Khalidov avoids a nice combination and hits a vicious leg kick. Khalidov steps in, feints a kick, then darts back out. Khalidov steps back to avoid a left jab. Khalidov slips out of the way of a jab. Khalidov goes to the body and then to the head with a tidy combination to get Watson to cover up, then shoots in. Khalidov gets the takedown, but as soon as Watson hits the ground he spins out and away and gets back to his feet. Khalidov slips past a left jab and fires back with a hard spinning heel kick, putting Watson down on the ground! Watson recovers his wits quickly, and waits for Khalidov to make a move. Khalidov looks to get on top of Watson. Watson tries to get free, but Khalidov is able to secure side control. Khalidov starts trying to work to use side control as a way to get behind Watson. Watson tries to escape but only succeeds in giving up his back! Khalidov pounds away on Watson. Watson had better start defending himself, or this will be over! The referee pulls Khalidov away, stopping the match!

 

By TKO, the winner is Mamed Khalidov!

Lightweight Bout: Gilbert Melendez vs. Terry Etim

 

Round 1

Round one begins! Etim gets suckered in by a feint, and is lucky to avoid the combination that follows. A straight left fails to land and Melendez is able to fire back with a left jab to the cheek. Both fighters fire off strikes, neither produces any significant damage. A wild spinning heel kick is off-target and gives Melendez the chance to counter with a solid left. Etim looks to move in and stand in the pocket. Melendez seems happy to engage with Etim in the pocket. Melendez sees a kick being set up and uses that opportunity to step forward and hit a crisp left jab. Etim dodges a jab, and fires back with a solid punch. Melendez uses head movement to cause a left jab to sail harmlessly by. Etim slips past a jab and scores with a straight right that connects right on the jaw, knocking Melendez down! Melendez recovers his wits quickly, and waits for Etim to make a move. Melendez is hit with a sharp kick to the calf. Etim tries to secure a ground position. Melendez is too quick, slipping away from Etim and starting to scramble. Etim ends up having to pull half guard, losing out in the scramble. In half guard, Melendez catches his breath, content just to throw a couple of punches to the body. Etim reaches over and tries to lock Melendez in a guillotine. Melendez stops Etim from applying it. Melendez looks to pass half guard and get side control. Etim doesn't let Melendez get his leg free, and so half guard remains in place. Etim attempts a guillotine choke from the bottom of half guard. Melendez pulls free before the guillotine can be applied. Round one ends as time expires. Good effort there, that was a very exciting round to watch. More please! I think Etim took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

 

Round 2

Round two begins! A left hand misses, allowing Etim to counter with a kick to the side of the ribs. Advancing, Melendez counters a left jab by using a stinging left jab. Melendez comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Etim. Etim keeps himself moving out of range, not wanting to grapple. A nicely executed one-two combination sets up a takedown attempt from Melendez. Etim tries to avoid Melendez. Melendez doesn't get the takedown, Etim avoided it. Etim avoids a jab and scores with a kick to the outside of the left knee. Strikes to the leg like that will take their toll. Moving in closer, Melendez looks like he wants to strike from the pocket. Melendez is now standing in the pocket. Melendez dodges a body kick and returns fire with a clean punch. Slipping past a powerful straight right, Etim counters with a solid left jab. Seeing a right kick to the body coming, Melendez leans in and strikes with a nice left. Using head movement, Etim slips past a left jab and counters with a stinging jab. Etim slips past a jab and scores with a kick to the side of the ribs. Melendez sees a kick being set up and uses that opportunity to step forward and hit a crisp left. A quick exchange of strikes produces nothing worth mentioning. From the pocket, Melendez shoots in for a double leg. A counter right cross is too slow to catch Melendez. Melendez has the takedown! Etim pulls guard. Melendez throws some small strikes, but is clearly just taking a moment to try and catch his breath. Round two ends as time expires. All eyes are glued on this match after an excellent, action-packed round. That was a very close round, but I think Etim just about edged it.

 

Round 3

And here we go, round three! A left jab misses and Etim strikes back with a swift right kick to the leg. Gilbert Melendez is now clearly favouring one leg. Etim is doing the smart thing by targeting the legs. It will slow Melendez down and really take a lot out of his takedown attempts. Etim steps back to avoid a barrage of big punches. Melendez comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Etim. Etim finds himself pulled into a grappling contest. Melendez looks to scoop his opponent up for a slam. Melendez gets it! Etim manages to pull guard upon impact. In guard, Melendez throws a couple of punches designed to keep Etim guessing. In guard, Melendez begins working to pass to side control. He can't get free of the guard. Etim attempts a triangle choke on Melendez from the bottom of the guard. Melendez shows great skill by twisting out of the triangle attempt and getting side control over Etim. Etim takes a knee strike to the ribs from under side control. Melendez throws a few right hands to the body. Melendez throws some small strikes, but is clearly just taking a moment to try and catch his breath. Etim tries to lock on an arm-in guillotine from the bottom of side control. Etim cannot get it applied. Melendez punches down at Etim, but they are easily taken on the gloves. Melendez attempts to move to mount. Etim doesn't let Melendez get the mount, and so he remains at side control. We reach the time limit and this fight is over. That round goes to Melendez, 10-9 on my card.

 

Here come the official scores. All three judges have given 29-28.

Round 1

There's the opening bell! McDonald isn't drawn in by Pickett feinting to his left. An attempted inside leg kick misses, giving Pickett the opportunity to counter with a clean jab. McDonald avoids a nice combination. McDonald moves out of range of a tidy combination of punches. Pickett circles, looking for an opening. It seems that McDonald is happy to let Pickett circle for the moment. McDonald throws a swift jab but doesn't do any damage. Not letting up, Pickett quickly steps in closer to attack McDonald. McDonald counters a left jab with a right body kick. Pickett steps in, feints a kick, then darts back out. Pickett feints stepping in. McDonald uses a nice combination as a set up, then shoots in for a takedown. Pickett tries to counter with a right hand, but is too slow. McDonald has the takedown! Pickett pulls guard. McDonald attempts to pass guard. He passes to half guard. McDonald begins trying to get his leg free of the half guard. Pickett keeps McDonald in half guard. The time is up, and that's the end of round one. I think McDonald took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

 

Round 2

There's the bell for the start of the round! McDonald steps back to avoid a barrage of big punches, having been off balance momentarily after a clever feint. McDonald counters an errant left jab with a vicious leg kick. McDonald has to cover up to absorb a nice one-two combination, having been off balance after falling for a feint. Pickett comes in closer, looking to attack from the pocket. Pickett and McDonald get closer, both looking eager to engage at close range. McDonald covers up to absorb a tight combination of punches. Pickett backs away to create some more space. Pickett looks to move in and stand in the pocket. Pickett is surprised by a countering left jab that springs out of nowhere, but he avoids it at the last second. A jab doesn't find its intended target, allowing Pickett to fire back with a quick combination that ends with a scorching right cross. McDonald barely had time to cover up. A flicked jab from Pickett only finds gloves. It seems that McDonald is happy to let Pickett circle for the moment. McDonald doesn't get drawn in as Pickett feints a kick. McDonald looks like he wants to stand in the pocket and strike with Pickett. McDonald is in the pocket, ready to attack Pickett. McDonald shoots in, looking for a close range double leg. The takedown is successful, Pickett pulls guard. McDonald attempts to pass guard and gain a better position. He finds himself unable to pass guard on this attempt. Pickett works some separation, then tries to quickly scramble his way into a better position. There wasn't enough separation though, McDonald is able to catch him and secure side control. McDonald looks to roll Pickett slightly and slip behind. McDonald takes the back, Pickett could do nothing about it. Time expires and we come to the end of round two. That round goes to McDonald, 10-9 on my card.

 

Round 3

There's the bell for the start of the round! Pickett feints left and throws an excellent combination but McDonald is just able to cover up in time. Pickett throws a left jab but McDonald avoids it. McDonald counters an errant left jab with a right kick to the thigh. Brad Pickett won't want to take too many unchecked strikes to the legs like that. Pickett looks like he wants to stand in the pocket and strike with McDonald. Pickett is in the pocket, ready to attack McDonald. Pickett throws an excellent combination but McDonald covers up and takes them. There's a double leg attempt from McDonald, from the pocket. He has the takedown! It's a single leg, and Pickett has to pull guard. McDonald begins trying to pass guard and get a better position. Pickett can't block the pass, and is left pulling half guard. McDonald attempts a kimura. Pickett blocks it. Pickett looks ready to try and scramble, but McDonald is quick to move to prevent that. McDonald tries to ensnare Pickett in an americana. Pickett doesn't allow the americana to be applied. Pickett tries to sweep McDonald but doesn't get anywhere. McDonald attempts to pass half guard. McDonald struggles but cannot find a way past and remains stuck in half guard. Pickett tries to sweep McDonald but can't do it. The fight comes to an end as the time limit expires. I think McDonald took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

Mousasi throws a left jab but Bisping uses good head movement to make sure it slips by. Bisping dodges a jab, and fires back with a kick to the ribs. Mousasi avoids a left jab and pulls Bisping into a clinch. Mousasi tries to wrestle Bisping backward and up against the cage. Mousasi does it, Bisping is stuck with his back to the cage. Mousasi attempts to set up a judo-based throw to take Bisping to the ground. Bisping digs in and manages to block the throw. Bisping turns Mousasi slightly, but can't create enough space to get free of the clinch. Mousasi looks to set up a judo throw. Bisping digs in and manages to block the throw. An errant jab sets Mousasi up to counter-strike with a couple of jabs and a beautiful right hook to the body. Mousasi doesn't drop his hands as Bisping feints shooting in. Bisping tries for a left jab but Mousasi moves out of range. Bisping comes in closer, looking to attack from the pocket. Mousasi tries to catch him by surprise with a takedown attempt, but it is blocked. Bisping comes in closer, looking to attack from the pocket. Backing off, Mousasi makes sure to keep out of range. Backing out of range, Bisping circles tentatively. Mousasi doesn't press the issue, allowing Bisping to circle. Mousasi steps back to avoid a left jab. Mousasi counters a wayward left jab with a solid left. Bisping fakes a lunge. It seems that Mousasi is happy to let Bisping circle for the moment. Breathing very hard, Michael Bisping is looking ragged. Mousasi looks like he might be trying to get in close to clinch with Bisping. Bisping uses movement to keep out reach, meaning Mousasi cannot get close enough to clinch. The time is up, and that's the end of round two. I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Mousasi.

 

Round 3

And here we go, round three! A jab doesn't find its intended target, allowing Mousasi to fire back with a series of quick jabs. Gegard Mousasi is looking really tired. A drained-looking Mousasi tries to close the distance between them. He pulls Bisping into a grapple. Mousasi is trying to muscle Bisping up against the cage. Mousasi achieves it, pinning Bisping to the cage. Bisping is controlled up against the cage and takes a few right hands via some dirty boxing. Michael Bisping looks very, very tired. I wonder if the big weight cut is beginning to really take its toll? Bisping uses his wrestling skills to prevent Mousasi from throwing any knee strikes. Mousasi catches Bisping with a hard right hand to the ribs. Gegard Mousasi seems to be fighting against exhaustion. I wonder if the big weight cut is beginning to really take its toll? Bisping is pressed up against the cage and held there, taking the occasional short punch to the ribs and stomach, for roughly a minute. Mousasi pins Bisping up against the cage and works him over with small punches to the body for roughly sixty seconds. The lengthy period of stalemate results in the referee separating them. Bisping uses a jab to sting Mousasi. A visibly tired Mousasi is looking to turn this into a wrestling match, and is getting in closer to Bisping. Bisping is pulled into a grapple. Gegard Mousasi looks like he is completely out of gas. Mousasi is aiming to get Bisping into a Muay Thai clinch. Bisping can't fight it off, and ends up caught. Bisping partially blocks a knee strike, enough to allow him to wrestle free of the clinch. The gas tank looks empty on Michael Bisping. The time is up, and that's the end of round three. That was a bit of a snoozer, hopefully the next round brings a little more action. I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Mousasi.

 

Round 4

We are back underway! Between rounds we could hear the corner of Bisping telling him to be wary of Mousasi trying takedowns. Mousasi avoids a quick jab and hits a barrage of hard punches! Bisping dodges a jab, and fires back with a quick series of punches. Using head movement to slip past a left jab, Bisping hits a punch. Using good head movement, Mousasi slips past a punch and hits a nice jab. Bisping uses head movement to cause a left jab to sail harmlessly by. Mousasi backs away from Bisping, creating some space between them. Bisping avoids a barrage of punches and hits a series of quick jabs. Mousasi avoids a jab. Mousasi waits for a flurry of punches to stop, then hits a left jab to the cheek. Mousasi slips past a left jab and fires back with a solid left jab. Mousasi counters an errant left jab with a clean jab. Mousasi fakes a lunge. Time slips away as Bisping doesn't press Mousasi, allowing him to circle. Bisping slips out of the way of a jab. Mousasi keeps out of range, assessing the situation. Time slips away as Bisping doesn't press Mousasi, allowing him to circle. Round four is brought to an end as time runs out. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Mousasi.

 

Round 5

There's the bell for the start of the round! Mousasi counters a flurry of punches by hitting a stinging left jab. A flurry of punches miss Mousasi and allow him to counter-strike with a clean left. A flurry of rights and lefts miss, allowing Mousasi to hit back with a clean jab. Backing out of range, Mousasi circles tentatively. Bisping quickly gets in closer, looking to attack. Mousasi counters a flurry of punches by hitting a couple of hard rights! Backing off, Bisping looks very wobbly, I think he may be hurt! Bisping regains his senses just in time to dodge an overhand right. A tired-looking Mousasi approaches, looking for a takedown. Bisping counters with a right hand that catches Mousasi flush, rocking him! Bisping hits a left jab. Bisping waits for a flurry of punches to stop, then hits an enormous right hand that shakes Mousasi! Mousasi staggers backward, looking dazed...that last blow must have really rocked him! Stunned, Mousasi is left wide open to be grabbed in a guillotine! Bisping pulls him down into guard, tightening it! A guillotine choke is applied; Mousasi isn't tapping out though! Mousasi must have managed to stop the choke being properly applied. The hold is released, Bisping realised that he was gassing his arms on an attempt that wasn't going to finish the fight. Mousasi throws a few right hands to the body. Bisping brings his legs up and tries to lock Mousasi in a triangle choke. Mousasi blocks the attempt. Mousasi begins trying to pass guard and get a better position. He can't quite manage to get past guard on this attempt. We reach the time limit and this fight is over. I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Bisping.
