AWF: Live The Revolution [ThunderVerse]

Quick question for my readers (predictors or not)...

One of the main changes that Casey Skym brought in was his four PPVs a year policy. However, while I like the idea generally, I didn't take into consideration the smaller pop changes on TV. That means that despite excellent matches, promos etc. my roster isn't gaining anything like the popularity it should and as a result, my grades are going to begin to suffer soon (mainly because I can't build up fodder for my main eventers quick enough).

So, the question is, do I bring back the monthly PPVs? I figure I have three options...

1. Bring back monthly PPVs as before.

2. Have Saturday Night Main Event style shows that in-game are PPV, but in-diary would be described/booked/treated as TV specials. Sort of cheating, I know :p

3. Do nothing and carry on as is.

Any and all help would be much appreciated :D

Option two sounds good to me. The 4 ppv thing would work by using the AWF SMNE shows as build ups to them.

Also, on an unrelated point to this one but going back to the lucha question, if anyone can make it work it is you. I hope you do go forward with GILL. :)

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to go with Option 2 - however, I do have a plan to make it something of a compromise in-story, at least.

The GILL diary won't be going ahead for now as I have another, completely different but hopefully just as interesting plan that is taking shape.

I have been attempting to get the majority of the next ThunderVerse 'patch' done this week which is why there has been no Brian Jack or prediction contest. The show itself is not too far from completion so in order to keep things moving I will probably post it this weekend and start the next prediction contest the following show. :)

=MARCH WEEK ONE ROUND UP=

THE RATINGS WAR

PWI retained its lead over the AWF with a second successive 2.88 rating. While this is relatively low for the PWI so far in 2013, it represents no change in viewership since last week's show.

The AWF's decision to hold it's first ever televised Steel Cell match paid off as the show saw a 0.11 point jump in viewership to reach a high of 2.63. Despite coming second yet again, this week's rating was the highest for AWF Shockwave! in 2013.

2013 WAR SO FAR: PWI 9 – 0 AWF

ROSANA AND ADRIENNE IN BACKSTAGE BRAWL

AWF divas Rosana and Adrienne were involved in what is being described as a 'backstage brawl', but is more likely to have been a heated argument, during the taping of this week's AWF Shockwave. While Adrienne threw the first slap, the cause of the argument is said to be Rosana's crude remarks about Adrienne's real-life boyfriend Caleb Adonis. Adonis is also a regular backstage during Shockwave tapings in LA, but was apparently not at the arena last week. As this was Rosana's first known backstage issue she was read the riot act by Casey Skym, although it is rumoured that Adrienne's backstage pull will ensure a much harsher punishment should the two cross paths again.

CASEY SKYM

I've been checking my social media profiles all week and there have been a couple of themes, trends shall we say, among the messages that I have been getting.

Number one...why is there no Casey Skym Challenge this month? Well the answer to that is simple – because this week's show has too much star quality to fit one in, because last week we made history with the first ever free-to-air steel cell match and because next week...well, let's just say we have some great things in store for next week. Don't worry though, the Casey Skym Challenge will be back up and running next month.

Number two...wrestling on TV is awesome, but where is my monthly 'big event' fix? Well don't worry, wrestling fans who enjoyed sitting in front of the box every fourth Sunday of the month will have something to look forward to. From May we'll be hosting monthly specials at the same time as our previous PPVs, only they will be airing live on Arcadia. Check out our website in the coming days for more information.

Oh, and there was something else. Last week Nikita and Mountain Albert asked me about the AWF World title match at Battle For Los Angeles. Well, tonight we have an enormous six-man main event...and whoever delivers the winning pinfall will become the number one contender! Of course, there is always the possibility that Mountain Albert could win the fall – in that case both he and Nikita will be given the opportunity to select his opponent for the big PPV at the end of the month.

Now is it just me, or is that the sort of wrestling show that you, this man right here, and the fans at home want to see!

STEEL CAGE MATCH FOR THE AWF TELEVISION TITLE

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/AWFTV_zps5f4eeebd.jpg

JOE HAVANNA © vs MARCO DE FRANCESCO

-To say that Joe Havanna and Marco De Francesco are not the best of friends would be an understatement.

-And while placing this match in a steel cage would certainly ensure that there would be no interference, it also meant that the level of violence increased dramatically.

-While much of the evenly fought contest was fought on the mat, the finish would come in suitably dangerous fashion.

-Catching Joe Havanna unawares, De Francesco hit the
Pole Position (Spinning lifting sitout double underhook facebuster)
, but for some reason opted to climb the steel cage instead of go for the pin...

-...but with his body still feeling the after-effects of his beating two weeks ago, De Francesco climb was both slow and arduous...

-...all of which allowed Havanna to slowly regain his energy...

-...climb the side of the steel cage...

-...and throw De Francesco from the top of the cage to the mat!

-...but Havanna wasn't done there...elbow drop from the top of the steel cage! Havanna wasn't about to make the same mistake as De Francesco and went for the pin immediately...1..2...3!

YOUR WINNER IN 7:54 AND STILL AWF TELEVISION CHAMPION...JOE HAVANNA!

JOE HAVANNA

[in Spanish]
What did I tell you? Television champion still!

[in English]
Marco De Francesco. At least you tried, eh? I promised that I would take the AWF Television title from you, and I promised I would keep it. I promised that I would beat you tonight, and I promised that this steel cage would not stop me from winning. You thought I needed the assistance of my associates in the Enemies of the State but you were wrong. Their help was appreciated, but it was really just an excuse for them to cause some mayhem. You see I promised you, I promised these people, and I promised myself that I would come to this company and control it, defeat it and become the biggest name it had ever seen!

“The Re-Evolution”
DERRICK ROLLINS vs LEROY
“Harsh”
WINTERS

-A solid match that proved Derrick Rollins is just as good as he claims he is, while reminding fans that Leroy Winters can keep up with the best of them.

-Far from the brutality of the match that preceeded it, this was a slower, more methodical affair that showed the great wrestling knowledge of both competitors.

-Derrick Rollins is known for his determination to win at all costs and it was that willingness to bend the rules to his advantage that would decide the match.

-After going for a
Rollins Stone (Buzzsaw Kick)
, the youngster went for the pin...

-...but Winters kicked out at two! Rollins was convinced that he should have won the match but while he was arguing with the ref Winters crept up behind him and rolled him up...

-...but Rollins reversed and with a handful of tights secured the victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 6:28...DERRICK ROLLINS!

KITTY REARDON

Vince, with Battle For Los Angeles fast approaching, how do you rate your chances?

VINCENT I PARKER

Rate my chances? I'm going to win, girl! Put me in that ring at #1 and then when I leave the ring as #20 with a World title shot waiting for me, we'll really see who is the best wrestler in this company!

Herculez...the “World's Strongest Man”. So strong, they say, that you can break a brick on his head and he wouldn't feel a thing. Know why, Kitty? Because the fool's got bricks for brains and they ain't switched on. Last week Herculez and Ricky Fyre got lucky, but cats like that have used up all of their lives. I hear I've got Herculez next week one-on-one, well that suits me just fine! You know why? Because once I've defeated Herculez fair and square, once and for all, I can focus on the Battle ahead. Keep it real, Kit.

We have seen him protecting the town from bandits single-handedly. He SAVED us.

[The action cuts to a church where the priest addresses the camera...]

PRIEST

Part god? No. This is but a man, but an extraordinary man indeed. A man pure of heart, and of mind. A man who is not afraid to stand up for the everyman. A true hero to Mexico, to this village. A true hero to the Awesome Wrestling Federation, perhaps?

RICKY FYRE vs
“Every Woman's Dream”
WILSON HANCOCK
w/Adrienne

-These two wrestlers fought each other in a tag team match last week in which Hancock took the fall after a Herculean Slam.

-Needless to say, Hancock was looking to return to winning ways, but this match was all Ricky Fyre.

-The seemingly de facto #1 contender for the United States title has been doing well in recent weeks and he took that momentum into this match.

-After some decent wrestling by both, and more than a little flirting with Adrienne, Fyre hit his
Unleash The Fyre (Tiger Driver)
finisher to secure the victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 11:17...RICKY FYRE!

KITTY REARDON

Timothy, everyone heard Casey Skym's suprise announcement earlier in the show – the individual who gets the pinfall will become the #1 contender. How do you feel about that, and with five other men potentially beating you to the pinfall, how do you rate your chances?

TIMOTHY HAWK

Casey Skym likes to play games, entertain the crowd, and that's fine. That's why we are here after all. But my top priority has always been to win wrestling matches and to win championships. There might be five other men looking to win the match, but only one person is going to walk out of here the #1 contender and that's me!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Towerblock.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/TimothyHawk.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/SilvaDolla.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Core.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Jean-ClaudeGiroux.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/MountainAlbert_zps6bcab341.jpg

TOWERBLOCK, TIMOTHY HAWK & SILVA DOLLA vs CORE, JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX & MOUNTAIN ALBERT

-While this was closer to a six-man slugfest than it was a wrestling contest, that didn't stop it from being a very solid main event.

-Given the match only lasted twelve minutes, it isn't surprising that none of the six man had particularly long to shine, but all managed to get in enough time to prove themselves worthy of being there.

-With the number one contendership spot on the line, there were falls aplenty but they were soon broken up before the three count.

-In fact, tensions among the heel team arose straight away when Mountain Albert broke up his own team's pin attempt on a bandaged up Silva Dolla!

-While each competitor came into the match with a good chance of walking out the victor, so close were the odds, the ending to the match was a surprise to anyone.

-Having descended into chaos, Silva Dolla managed to clothesline Core over the top rope to the outside...only he went over the top himself!

-As Core and Dolla brawled on the outside, the remaining four men piled into the ring!

-Timothy Hawk dodged an Albert clothesline attempt...
Justice Slam (Full Nelson Slam)!

-Meanwhile, Jean-Claude Giroux ran himself straight into trouble...and the giant hand of Towerblock...
Ten Storey Chokeslam!

-Timothy Hawk went for the cover...

-...and so did Towerblock!

-The referee had no idea who was the legal man and began to count both pins!

-...1....2.....3! Both pins succeeded, but who is the number one contender!?

YOUR WINNERS IN 11:58...TOWERBLOCK, HAWK & DOLLA!

TIMOTHY HAWK & TOWERBLOCK SCORED A PINFALL AT THE SAME TIME!

=MARCH WEEK TWO ROUND UP=

THE RATINGS WAR

PWI's fans can't seem to decide if they want to watch their TV show or not, as the company's yo-yo ratings continued. It was all good news for Shane Allman, however, as PWI saw a 0.13 rise in viewership to an all-time TV ratings record of 3.01. This is the first time PWI Integrity, Tradition & Honor has broken the 3.0 mark.

The AWF, however, suffered a dramatic fall in ratings from last week's 2013 high of 2.63 down to it's lowest rating of the year, 2.48. This comes despite a star quality heavy main event, and a fairly decent card overall.

2013 WAR SO FAR: PWI 10 – 0 AWF

TIMOTHY HAWK GIVEN FIVE-YEAR DEAL; DE FRANCESCO ALSO SIGNS

AWF's website announced this week that Timothy Hawk has signed an exclusive five-year deal with the company. The contract is said to be worth more than $40,000 a month, a record contract in the company. Inside sources have told Brian Jack that the lucrative contract signed by Hawk has triggered the wage-match clauses for both Mountain Albert and Chaperone and will see all three men take home the same wage. Aside from the standard AWF non-compete clause, Hawk's contract is said to be relatively straight forward for a main eventer of his popularity.

Marco De Francesco also signed a written contract this month, as well as receiving a $5,000 bonus. Both the contract and bonus were reported to be as a result of the Italian's successful run as Television champion, but there are also rumours backstage that they were offered in order to take the edge off De Francesco's defeat to Joe Havanna which sources are claiming he was not particularly happy about.

AWF TO USE MONTHLY TV SPECIALS

As mentioned by Casey Skym on last week's episode of Shockwave!, the AWF will be holding monthly TV specials from May. These are expected to act like mini-PPVs, and are thought to be a suggestion from Casey Skym himself in an effort to stop PWI's runaway success. Further details are expected in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll not spoil the "surprise" by responding to them directly, but I just wanted to say that it is great to see comments outside of predictions too.

Speaking of predictions, the next contest will begin tomorrow once I've decided how to structure the questions :)

Jean-Claude Giroux vs Timothy Hawk

I´m pretty sure there will be interferences here so it´s hard to guess the outcome but Hawk is likely going to challenge for the main belt and thus he seems to be higher priority guy right now.

Herculez vs Vincent I Parker

With Herculez winning their last tag team encounter, I go with V.I.P on this one.

???? & ???? vs Enemies Of The State

I go with real team over pairing that I assume will be randon. After all Skym doesn´t seem to care much about tag wrestling.

Wilson Hancock & Dani vs Ricky Fyre & Jazz

I mainly picked Fyre and Jazz here in order to give Jazz a win over Dani and further her likely title challenge at later date.

BONUS: Casey Skym's punishment for the Enemies Of The State is a tag team match - who will be their opponents?

Marco De Francesco & Leroy Winters

Just wanted to let everyone know that the show should be ready tomorrow, but there is a slight possibility it could be delayed until Monday.

On the plus side, I have just booked the Battle For Los Angeles PPV and not only was I very pleased with the results, I can't wait to write it up either! That show has also returned my two show buffer - until today I had booked no further than the show I am writing

Do you find it easier working on a show buffer? The Gureisu show I'm writing is the first time I've tried a show buffer because usually I book the show and try to get the event centre out on the same day.

I used to have a few months booked in advance but I find that you tend to be more excited about the things you are booking and less about the stuff you are writing.

With this diary I try to have one or two shows ahead of where I am writing because I find it helps direct my writing a little better. At the same time, I write any major angles or plotpoints out before I book the next show because then my booking makes more sense, particularly as I find when writing certain promos that I write myself into matches that would suit the next card.
