OOC - Because of the overwhelming reaction I've gotten regarding Big Smack Scott's new stomping grounds, I hereby declare that the next bonus question for Week 2.

With that said...here's another edition of Pain Alliance-free Uprising. :p

SWF Uprising

Grissom Auditorium (Southwest)

Sunday, June 9, 2013 (Week 1)

DARK MATCH:

Huey Cannonball d. A-Prime via Cannonball Run in 4:47 (51/D)

UPRISING:

ANGLE - Money Hype Video (76/B-)

Rich Money's participation as Uprising guest commentator is hyped up by Marvin Earnest and Dawn the Cheerleader, as we see clips from his last Supreme TV promo, as well as scenes documenting his acquisition of Squeeky McClean and the apparent buyout of The Can't Miss Prospects from Chase SinCorporated.

ANGLE - Morrisette Beats Down on McClean - Replay (70/C+)

And in case you missed seeing a more aggressive Chris Morrisette unload on Squeeky post-North American title win, here it is again! Morrisette vs McClean will be one of the "extreme rules" matches we'll be seeing on Master of Puppets, and it will be a Lumberjack Match for the SWF North American title.

ANGLE - Vessey Booked Against Envy (36/D-)

Surprisingly, Cam Vessey is the first person we see cutting a promo on Uprising, and his run of confidence continues. He says that following his win against Kurt Laramee on the last Uprising, he believes he's proved himself worthy of a Shooting Star title shot. He asks Uprising GM BJ O'Neill, if she's listening, to give him a chance to be the third man in the title match at Master of Puppets, because unlike Frankie Perez and Spencer Spade, he's not a tag team specialist - he's someone who can win the title on his own with no outside assistance. As Rich Money talks about liking the young Vessey's moxie, O'Neill appears to give Vessey what he wants - a sort-of contender match against Eddie Envy. If Vessey wins, he's in the Master of Puppets pre-show and the Shooting Star title match becomes a three-way. If he loses, then it's Perez vs Spade only, because Envy hasn't done a thing to prove he's worthy of top contender status.

Cameron Vessey vs Eddie Envy (w/John Greed) (42/D-)

As announced by BJ O'Neill, this is a modified contender match - Envy's role here is as a spoiler, as he's essentially a jobber when he's not teaming with John Greed. Though Envy gets in a fair amount of offense and Greed is able to effectively distract Vessey at one point, the Chase SinCorporated rank-and-filer loses after Vessey reverses a roll-up attempt.

WINNER - Vessey in 5:17. Cameron Vessey to face Frankie Perez and Spencer Spade for SWF Shooting Star title at Master of Puppets pre-show.

ANGLE - Envy Beaten Down by Money (47/D-)

Rich Money, who put over Larry Vessey numerous times in the earlier match as one of the "Money guys" he idolized growing up, continues making his pitch by beating down on the man whom he once paid off to insult the SWF Galaxy's intelligence by impersonating Tommy Cornell.

ANGLE - Vessey Refuses Money Alliance (66/C+)

Now that he's made his point, Money tries to convince Vessey to join The Almighty Dollar, having been a huge fan of his dad and a good friend of his "uncle Bryan from Hollywood." To top it all off, Money pulls out several hundred-dollar bills from his wallet. Vessey is unimpressed by Money's sales pitch, and tells him to go find somebody else for his gold-grabbing faction. This angers Money, but as he returns to the announce table, he remains hopeful in acquiring the youngster's services as The Almighty Dollar's Shooting Star champion.

James Prudence (w/Carl Batch) vs John Greed (w/Asher Ginsberg) (58/D+)

Both of these men have been floating along for a bit, which is such a pity considering they still have breakout potential, even at 33. Greed, who tried helping himself earlier to some of Carl Batch's Hired Officers of Entertainment and Sexuality, emerges victorious thanks to a referee distraction from Mainstream and Stevie and a chairshot from Asher Ginsberg that lands squarely on Prudence's face. Greed hits the Crash Diet to seal the deal, and it's over in little more than seven minutes.

WINNER - Greed in 7:08

ANGLE - 24/7 Partay Dudez Booked Against The Allied Forces (66/C+)

Dawn the Cheerleader interviews Rich Money's newest acquisitions, The Can't Miss Prospects, backstage as the Moneyman stands in their corner. Davids says that he and DuBois remain on good terms with their former co-workers from Chase SinCorporated, but if any of them tries something funny, they won't hesitate to end that cordial relationship. DuBois says that Rich Money has given them clearance to defend their titles against The Allied Forces, and to Jack Giedroyc and Valiant watching the interview from another side of the locker room, this is music to their ears.

Mainstream and Stevie then interrupt the interview with a brief song-and-dance number, which basically asks the Prospects to pick them instead as their tag team opponents at Master of Puppets. DuBois laughs the request off with a sneering look on his face, and Davids says that bubblegum boy bands like the 24/7 Partay Dudez are only going to cry for their mommies in a Hardcore Match. This angers the Partay Dudez, but before the confrontation can turn ugly, BJ O'Neill steps in and announces that it will be the 24/7 Partay Dudez facing The Allied Forces in the main event, now a number one contender match for the World Tag Team titles.

ANGLE - Avatar Rants About Davids (46/D-)

Real-life girlfriend interviews real-life boyfriend here, as Dawn the Cheerleader asks KP Avatar about what he thinks of The Can't Miss Prospects. He says that "Psyche Up and Psyche Out" aren't daunted by the Prospects' new alliance with Rich Money, and that overconfidence will end up being their downfall, if not tonight, then at Master of Puppets against The Allied Forces. Of course, Avatar punctuates his promo with a healthy helping of James Brown-esque screams and a lot of finger-snapping. (It seems that Avatar doesn't consider the Partay Dudez real contenders, even if they've sneaked their way into a contender match.)

The Psychedelic Soul Brothers (w/Chloe Dean) vs The Can't Miss Prospects (w/Rich Money) © - non-title match (50/D)

A quick squash for added momentum ahead of the PPV - need we say more? Despite some nice aerial moves from Remmy Skye, The Psychedelic Soul Brothers keep on jobbin' against the current Tag Team champs, The Can't Miss Prospects. Avatar submits to a Model Solution from Marc DuBois, and somehow makes that ankle lock look like a million dollars with those pained grimaces and frantic tapout motions.

WINNERS - The Can't Miss Prospects in 4:47

ANGLE - Frederique Interviews Spade (35/E)

Usually held after the first match, Let's Do the Freddy! has been moved to a different "time slot", but that doesn't make Freddy Garcia's interview with Spencer Spade any less entertaining. Cocky as ever, Spade says Garcia is the reason why the title was retired all those years ago, because he wasn't a good enough champion. Regarding Cam Vessey, Spade refers to him as a shadow of his famous father, and that not even Rich Money can turn him into someone on the same level as he is, because he's The Supreme Star, and this is his ring, his time, his Spade Wrestling Federation.

ANGLE - Perez and Vessey Beat Down on Spade (40/D-)

The Let's Do the Freddy! set turns into a preview of the coming Saturday's pre-show; first, it's Vessey running in to beat down on Spade, then Frankie Perez joins in to make it a two-on-one. Spade is out cold as the two babyfaces Perez and Vessey stare each other down for a few seconds. They end up shaking hands, with Perez saying off-camera "May the best man win."

Frankie Perez (w/Mikey James) © vs Roger Cage - non-title match (53/D)

Marv Earnest asks Rich Money if he'd rather try working on buying out Roger Cage, but Money's not interested - he thinks that anyone who doesn't take a bath for days and remains stuck in another decade is not, and never will be Money. The Moneyman does appear interested in Perez, who has Cage locked up in the P-Clutch at around 5:20. Just as Cage is about to tap out, Acid runs in from the locker room and launches a flying dropkick on Perez! New referee (and TCW hire) Sam Sparrow calls for the DQ and Cage's brief televised winning streak is over.

WINNER - Perez in 5:33 via DQ

ANGLE - Benson Impersonates Ino (72/B-)

Now here's someone who isn't Money, comments Rich Money as Elmo Benson arrives with Greg Black and Haley Buck, both of whom are wearing kimonos. It's obvious whom Benson is supposed to be impersonating here...

"Koshiro Elmo" - ICHIBAN! My name is Koshiro "Garter Snake" Elmo, and I'm turning Japanese, oh yes, I'm turning Japanese, I really think so! That song not about Japanese culture or puwowesu, it's song about choking the chicken, playing tug-o-war with Cyclops, dancing with one's self, woh-oh! It's song about date with Mrs. Palmer! That...is not pure wrestling. That...is not puwowesu. That...is what Biggz in Japan does instead of listening to their sensei! And now it's time for Koshiro Elmo and Greg-San to take a bite...out of closet sports entertainment fans and the chicken-choking chickens who call themselves Biggz in Japan. Psssssss...

High Concept (w/Haley Buck) vs Biggz in Japan (w/Koshiro Ino) (61/C-)

It's clear that Biggz in Japan and Koshiro Ino aren't pleased with "Koshiro Elmo"'s impersonation, and they make that known through several illegal maneuvers and sneaky double-teams. Ino does his part by trying to distract his impersonator, but is warned by Darren Smith to behave himself lest he get sent backstage. Brett-San narrowly escapes defeat at around 3:20 by kicking out at two-and-a-half following a Game Over, but the match still ends in High Concept's favor, as a second Game Over attempt results in Black covering Bart-San and giving the former Biggz Boyz/Quadruple B another shameful loss in their return to the SWF.

WINNERS - High Concept in 6:45

ANGLE - Ino Makes Open Challenge (70/C+)

Now this is the real thing - yelling "TEISHI!" (and not a random Japanese word) to shush the crowd, Ino continues his Puroresu Challenge after letting out a few choice words about High Concept and their heavily sports entertainment-oriented style. He talks about having won all his matches on Uprising and Supreme TV, and says he's probably done enough to show the SWF Galaxy that puroresu is the purest form of wrestling out there. Ino looks and sounds a bit bored in this promo, bored with all the easy wins he's had so far...

ANGLE - Taylor Accepts Ino Challenge (67/C+)

The challenge is accepted by Ino's fellow TCW alumnus Joshua Taylor, who says that unlike the others who have accepted his challenge, he's more action than talk, though he respects what American sports entertainment stands for. He talks about being a gaijin himself and having spent five of the best years of his life in "Pride Glory Honor" (PGHW), the home of "Physically Intense Puro." Being that he's survived the rigors of PGHW, Taylor says he's ready to show Ino how five years in that promotion have toughened him up and made him worthier than he is when it comes to being an "ambassador of puroresu."

Joshua Taylor vs Koshiro Ino (w/Biggz in Japan) (76/B-)

This probably should have been the evening's main event, because this is one of the best matches we've seen in Uprising's three months thus far. Both men give the fans a dose of "pure wrestling" Japanese style, trading stiff moves and making rest holds seem more exciting than they usually are. Ino comes close to submitting to Taylor's Butterfly Lock, but a distraction from Brett-San causes Taylor to let go of the hold. Bart-San makes up for his team's earlier failure by clobbering Taylor from behind with an elbow to the back and allowing Ino to set up the Kobra's Bite.

WINNER - Ino in 9:07

ANGLE - Stevie Gets Ready (41/D-)

The Allied Forces (w/Hannah) vs 24/7 Partay Dudez (w/Kristen Pearce and A-Prime) - Number One Contender match for SWF World Tag Team titles (63/C)

This match, unfortunately, turned out to be quite anticlimactic, but it still makes sense that this is the main event - after all, this would finally complete the card for Master of Puppets. Valiant and Jack Giedroyc continue to work well teaming with each other, and the Partay Dudez are definitely an exciting team to watch out there. Still, the crowd is largely nonplussed by this match, which sees the usual Kristen Pearce ref distraction and A-Prime interference, and Valiant falling victim to a nasty A-Prime clothesline. Still, he kicks out from that one, and in the end, The Allied Forces get a little unexpected help from James Prudence, whose arrival at ringside distracts Mainstream and allows Giedroyc to come Crashing On. The Forces win it, and while Giedroyc seems glad that Prudence came over to assist, Valiant looks less than happy due to the somewhat tainted nature of the win.

WINNERS - The Allied Forces in 10:44. The Allied Forces to face The Can't Miss Prospects for the SWF World Tag Team titles at Master of Puppets.

Overall Grade - 68/C+

SWF Uprising Rating - 0.89

Thirdy's Thoughts - Post-Shows OOC:

- Got a record number of predictors for the Week 1 shows, and I hope everyone sticks around for the long run! Here's how we're stacking up after Week 1, and for June's prize...the winner shall get to choose my next shoot interview subject after Big Smack Scott, and supply me with three questions to ask this worker. I'm also thinking of a "consolation prize" for June's second-placer. So far, we've got a tie - two predictors with perfect scores so far! :D

flaviooooo - 14/14, 100% (+6/7, 7/7, +1)

Oregano Jensen - 14/14, 100% (+7/7, 6/7, +1)

Rickymex - 13/14, 92% (+5/7, 7/7, +1)

christmas_ape - 13/14, 92% (+7/7, 6/7)

MichiganHewo - 12/14, 86% (+5/7, 6/7, +1)

jhd1 - 11/14, 78% (+6/7, 4/7, +1)

Croquemitaine - 11/14, 78% (+5/7, 5/7, +1)

ohiodevil - 10/14, 71% (+5/7, 5/7)

Bigjondalegend - 10/14, 71% (+5/7, 4/7, +1)

Psycho Sam - 9/14, 64% (+5/7, 4/7)

Midnightnick - 8/14, 57% (+4/7, 4/7)

- Squeeky McClean as North American champ? Yes, he's old and his character's a bit reminiscent of those dimwitted "yes, boss" lackeys from old comedies and cartoons, but since The Almighty Dollar's on a quest to grab all the gold and Squeeky has equal exposure in tag and singles competition, he kinda made sense. Eric Eisen is definitely a stable leader-type, so I decided to keep him with the Entourage and make Huggins/Dozer the stable's new tag team representatives. And yes, it is sort of a punishment for Double E's Flight to Disaster misadventures and his lying to Peter Michaels about who did what on the flight.

- Chris Morrisette, will you ever look good on the storylines...even his beatdown on Squeeky still has him rated as "Poor" in the Almighty Dollar vs Men Unda Pressure storyline.

- Ironic that "Mr. Uprising" The Zim wasn't on the last Uprising. Oh well. He did get squashed on Supreme TV and humiliated by his brother after the loss, so expect him to come back cockier than ever on the next Uprising...or fuming mad if he ends up losing to Randy at Master of Puppets.

- TCW's really scaring me...they keep nipping at Supreme TV's heels with all those strong Total Wrestling shows. With USPW at Cult since February (IIRC), it's now a two-way fight for the honor of being the world's top promotion. And I keep seeing those "Incoming for TCW" news bits...wonder whom they'll be signing? So far, the only person they've hired all year is Sgt. Bubba Lee West.

OOC - Damn...so much "love" for the Smacker! :D Love some of the questions I've seen so far. Should have specified it's going to be one question per predictor for June, but since we've got a few asking three, keep sending 'em in! For the July shoot interview, the June prediction game winner gets to choose who gets interviewed, and gets to ask him three questions, while everyone else gets to ask one each. :)

BTW, bigjondalegend, really sorry I forgot to include your results, but I've updated the post-shows post accordingly. :o

Jefferson Stardust vs Vengeance

Vengeance gets another low-ranking guy to feed on.

Tom "Angry" Gilmore vs Marc DuBois

Gilmore isn't quite on Vengeance's level, and DuBois is more credible than Stardust, but this is another top solo guy vs. a midcard tag teamer.

Chris Morrisette vs Des Davids

Morrisette needs to win some, and Davids is no big deal.

High Concept vs The Eisen Entourage vs The Cali Dragons vs 24/7 Partay Dudez - Number One Tag Team Contender match for Supreme Challenge

Not an inspiring bunch, but High Concept have caught on pretty well of late, and I like them a lot. So let's go with them.

Jungle Lord vs The Zim

The Zim is big enough to extend Jungle Lord's losing streak.

Jack Bruce vs Squeeky McClean © - non-title match

Non-title match = Squeeky can lose to a main eventer. And normally, I'd say why are you weakening the new title holder? But Squeeky seems like an obvious transitional champion...

Nicky Champion vs Rich Money © - non-title match

This is one of the marquee match-ups in SWF. Yeah, you could have a cheating/DQ-related win, but I'm going to say it doesn't even go that far.

Bonus Question - Which North American promotion has Big Smack Scott joined? (Clue - Not TCW nor USPW)

Well, even with his losing ways in recent months, he seems too big for any of the small promotions. He... might squeeze onto a regional fed's roster, but even that seems a little dubious. Which leaves the big two in Canada -- and I don't think the world is ready for NOTBPW Big Smack Scott. I'm saying CGC.

1. It seems you have a strong fanbase, cheering you on for such exploits as 'Unleashing the Shooting Smack Press (a Shooting Star Self Piledriver), giving steroids to Rich Eisen, and other superhuman tasks. Why do you patronize rookies such as Spencer Spade, KP Avatar, the Gauges, Lenny Brown and the like, when clearly, you could be training to lift Mt. Everest?

2 Will you have any plans to be a full fledged porno actor, with a sequel to Big Smacks & Big Racks?

Plum Park

7:30 p.m.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/PeterMichaels.jpg

It was thirty minutes before the start of pre-show action, and Peter Michaels' phone was ringing. Peter, a huge country music fan, had chosen the song "Take this Job and Shove It" by Johnny Paycheck as his ringtone for the boss himself, Richard Eisen. It cracked many a worker up to hear that song emanating from Peter's iPhone, though it was usually no laughing matter when Michaels would pick up and speak to Tricky Rick himself.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/RichardEisen.jpg

"WHAT THE F--- IS WRONG WITH YOU, PETER?!?!?," Richard Eisen barked from his New York office. "I thought I made the right decision by making you in charge of disciplinary actions backstage. Guess I was wrong!"

"Rick, does this have anything to do with Eric and Jerry?"

"You're damn right it does! See, they aren't here in New York to take care of the business side of things. They're here because they're sitting out tonight's Supreme TV out of protest. And Brandon, their friend, not to mention a man whose talent you keep wasting, has skipped off to Pennsylvania to visit his family. You strip the North American belt...I repeat, the NORTH AMERICAN BELT off Eric's waist and you put it on some guy, some guy...who couldn't draw flies if his name was Shitty McClean. You replace Jerry on Uprising in favor of Rich Money, who's more overexposed these days than the Kardashians. I don't care if you give me a f---ing A-show tonight, Peter. If you don't do right by my sons, I might have to find myself another head booker."

"Listen, Rick, I'm just doing what any head booker in his right mind would do - dealing out punishment fairly and making sure it fits the crime."

"See, that's the thing, Pete," continued Mr. Eisen, lowering his voice a bit. "Head bookers should concentrate on the booking. Maybe you need a Chief of Tours or something to babysit these overgrown kids."

Peter wanted to fire right back at Mr. Eisen and say that it was his own sons who were acting like overgrown kids, that he needed to let Eric and Jerry, men in their mid-30s, be accountable for their own actions. But he didn't want to get fired just like that. "I'm doing fine by myself, Rick, thank you for the concern, but I think I've been doing a great job dealing with the boys on my own. Now what do you want me to do?"

"I want you to give Eric the kind of contract you gave Remo when he re-signed. And I want Jerry on Supreme TV and Fry on Uprising."

Now this, Peter couldn't believe. Remo's contract wasn't even the richest - that honor belonged to Jack Bruce. But like most other true students of wrestling, Peter felt Eric, no matter if his last name was Eisen or Avatar, didn't deserve main event money. He was 34 going on 35 and wasn't getting any better, any younger or any healthier.

"Eric's contract is coming up soon," Mr. Eisen continued. "My son deserves no less than 30 grand a month. And Jerry? He's a mighty fine announcer."

"What about Duane? Why put him on Uprising? Why not Azaria?"

"Because Duane needs the weekdays to do his stuff in the office as head researcher."

Now that, if anything else, was a cockamamie excuse. It was obvious - Richard Eisen now favored Jason Azaria because Azaria was running with the Klubb, his son's backstage union. "Can't do that now, Rick, I'm sorry," said Peter, hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. "Regarding Eric's contract, I'll see what I can do about that, but we can't break the Jerry-Dawn-Marvin trio up now. Not while they're still in the process of building chemistry."

"Fair enough, but I'll have my eye on you, Peter. Just as I said, Eric's contract is coming up. I'm gonna try to talk some sense into him and Jerry, and I'll call Brandon up as well. But it's your job to make those boys happy, because if you don't, you'll be hard-pressed to find another dynamic talent like Eric Eisen, another great announcer in the making like Jerry Eisen, another 300-pound do-it-all worker like Brandon James. And if that happens, you may have to check with Tommy or Sam if they have any openings for a spare announcer. You're walking on thin ice. By the way, tell Duane he made a good call on referring us to that Runcord girl."
