It's actually part of the story, but from what I remember, these matches will probably fade away, and get occasional, since I cant debut new workers every week forever. Still, i definitely understand where you're coming from.

It was on the news this week: By Dave Melter (From the archives of TEW.com, June, Week 1)

If you haven't checked the dirt sheets since WCW Nitro is Gene, here are some of this week's headlines you might have missed:

- WCW unable to draw in star power: It seems that WCW has tried, and failed, to sign some big names to bolster their roster. Several names are rumoured to have refused a deal with the South East company, one of those names seems to be Hulk Hogan. Everyone seems to doubt WCW will last long, so I wouldn't expect any big names to sign at this point.

- WWF is looking to bolster their roster. Now that the Monday Night Wars are over, Vince Mcmahon's company is the #1 in the world, and needs to have a few more names in there to better balance the roster.

- The Monday Night Wars might be over, but the war between WCW and WWF rages on. Both companies have issued the continuation of their "No PPA contracts allowed between both promotions." You either work with WWF or WCW. No middle ground is allowed. This has sparked some bidding wars in the first week of June. It seems that WCW and WWF are competing for the services of Jerry Lawler. The King is rumoured to be heading back to TV, and both companies are fighting for his services. Unknown indy star John Cena is also rumoured to be the center of another bidding war. Reports say he is seen as a future major star by McMahon, so...this obviously means that WCW is out to get him before the WWF.

- WCW's development territory is welcoming new workers, but also some wrestlers from the main roster. The newest addition to the Power Plant development territory is Johny The Bull (Stamboli). It is widely believed that WCW creatives look at Stamboli as a future star and are sending him to development to hone his skills. Other workers from the main roster might follow him soon. In fact, some are already rumoured to have done so.

- WCW has a new Wellness Policy since Sting became the head booker. It seems the policy is made with the intention of getting rid of drugs in WCW. (yeah, good luck on that one) According to the terms of the new wellness program, WCW reserves itself the right to fire a worker that fails on merely on test, if they so chose to do so, but also reserves itself the right to look at every violation on a case by case basis. This basically means that there is not a strike system in place and one test will be enough to fire someone, if WCW so choses to do so. But they will analize any violation on a case by case basis, so I would expect some clemency in most cases. There are also rumours that 3 workers might have already tested positive in a test made after Nitro is Gene. One of them might even be a Main Eventer. We will be telling you more, as soon as we have confirmation.

- WWF Raw is War made a 84 (B+) this week. The main event (and MOTN) was a match between The Rock & Rikishi. The Rock won and the grade was 82.

- Bill Goldberg is heavily rumoured to be involved in negotiations with the WWF. Nothing seems set to stone yet, but an offer has, acording to sources, been made. Goldberg is yet to know why he was fired, and some inside sources are reporting that it might have something to do with Rena Mero. If the WWF can reach an agreement with the former NFL player, this might be a huge blow to WCW. The war rages on...

(That and the fact that a few months are already simmed at this point) but I do appreciate the suggestion. I will try this in the future, if I have that chance.

Chapter 1: "What Kind of Day Has it Been..." - Part 3

Bill Goldberg: As soon as i heard that Sting was the new booker I thought "Man...we are going down." It wasn't personal, I just never thought of him as a booker. Then I got fired for absolutely no reason...I had to read about it on WCW's website. So my thoughts about Sting as booker? Man i saw nothing good for WCW's future. I think a booker that is actually a booker must be man enough to look you in the face and tell you you are fired!

Johnny Ace: The company was a mess...by god, the backstage was a mess...everything was a god damn mess...

Eric Bischoff: There is always this special feeling when a company has been off TV for a while, and than returns. WCW hadn't died, but we had been 3 months out of TV. The nostalgic feeeling that comes from that...is priceless...It's like everything old becomes new again.

Sting: Yeah...everything old becomes new alright! The good and the bad. The matches and the workers, but also the attitude, the backstage problems, and all the bad things. And while the nostalgic feeling of it all, the good things that come out of it, will not last long...well, the bad ones are always much more...permament.

Season 1 - Episode 2: "Everything old is new again..."

Bret Hart: There was a lot of controversy when Bill Goldberg was fired, and, again i say, watching from the outsider, things did not look that good for WCW. There were also other factos to have in mind. Rumours of wellness violations, backstage fights, and the iminent fear of getting fired were some of them. But "Nitro is Gene" left the door open to a new start. And than came the second show...

Sting: I was never worried with the second show. The whole "Everthing old is new again" nostalgia thing would always make it look good. I was more worried with future shows.

Ric Flair: There was a lot of expectation about the second Nitro, but we also had expectations about the future. There really was a lot of uncertainty lying around...and that was not good for us...I mean, it would always reflect on our performances out there.

Vince McMahon: WCW? I thougth WCW died in 2001. What came back after it was some nostalgia act. That was how i saw things. I really didn't care how much tribure show they could put on. It was time for the reall stuff and I did not saw Sting has a man capable of running that show.

Dusty Rhodes: WCW was a like a trap...a setup...the kind of thing that will always backfire if you can't handle it. Sting was caught in it...and somehow he had to make it or break it.

WCW Presents: The New Era (Narrated by David Arquette)

(We go to the opening credits, displayed to the Sound of AC/DC's "Highway To Hell.")

Created By: Steve Borden

David Arquette: Hello and wellcome to another episode of TNE. As you may know by now, my name is David Arquette, and I am your guide through this journey, that tell us the story of WCW's new era. In June 2001, WCW had just presented it's comeback Nitro, titled "Nitro is Gene". Though critically aclaimed, the show had set some expectations, and people were tuning in to see what the next show would all be about. However, things weren't easy. WCW was beginning to show major signs of instability. Among them, the firing of Bill Godlberg, the uncertainty of a...well...uncertain wellness program, and the constant rumours of backstage problems. Something was wrong in the kingdom of Denmark.

Booker T: When you have a company full of egos, so many egos, like WCW...things will soon fall appart. Personally, I have no idea how to handle such a problematic locker room. Than again, I wasn't the booker. I feel that leadership would be required...but there is a thin line between leadership and being a dictator. Anyone who wanted to lead WCW at that time, would have a hard time finding out which side of the line should be picked.

Eric: A plan...you always need a plan. I always asked Sting what his plan was. He always assured me he had it all covered, but...I always got the feeling we were drifting when the shows began. He nad no margin for error

.

David Arquette: The first major sign of trouble was the situation involving the release of Bill Goldberg.

Rena Mero: The Bill Goldberg release? That was something. There was a lot of theories at that point...some involving my name. Someone started this ridiculous rumour that Bill was hitting on me, or something like that, and the internet made sure that this ridiculous rumour would not go away for a while...

Vince McMahon: Weakness! That was what i thought of it. You want to fire a man? You can at least have a reason. That whole thing was bizarre. Was I going to take advantage and offer him a deal? Of course...it wasn't my fault Sting was randomly firing his talent.

Arn Anderson: It was the little things...you know? Stupid things....things like "Where is Jimmy (Wang Yang) and why isn't he doing his tag team with Kaz?" Stupid little things like that. But a lot of those stupid things were being noticed, and the fans would read into every decision...every one of those small things. It was like a snow ball effect. And than there was the Open Fight Night initiative? What was really the point in all of that if there was really no big name to début in there? This kind of small things... If you can really find a lot of them...of you start adding them up...it can be very tricky. Some of them were nothing but made theories. Jimmy wan't in the show because Sting decided to put him in the power plant, to improve his skills. He was young, and Sting saw potential in him. There was nothing wrong with that... But again...the little things you know?

Shawn Michaels: I was asked to joined that ship...and i said no. And Sting was, is, and will always be my friend. But i did not want to have anything to do with that sinking ship. Not because of Sting, I was rooting for him...but it seemed that nothing good could come out of that.

Dusty Rhodes: No one big, Like Hogan for example, or Michaels, wanted to come here, no matter how much they were offered. No one actually believed that WCW would survive that long. And to some extent...that made the whole Open Fight Night thing look like some desperate atempt at shock value... And, like everything in life, some people liked it...some did not.

David Arquette: And among all the rumours and speculation...it was time for Nitro's next edition. There was a nostalgic feeling surrounding it...but there were also expectations...people ready to judge it... It was the circus of Pro-Wrestling at it's best.

(Commecial Break - End of Part 1)

It is with great sadness that, due to severe health problems, I will be ending this dynasty. I have also ended any other project I was involved in here, or other boards, except for the Shawn Michals multi-player extravaganza, to which I hope to return as soon as I recover. I would put this on hold, but it migh take a while, so I believe my best option is to end it, since nobody will remember this by the time of my possible return. I can always start a new one, or even restart this one, anything is possible. Thanks to everyone that commented and/or read this. I hope to see you all soon.

Do You Still Remember The New Era?

If you do, get ready to go at it again, as it might be returning. If you never read the dynasty, feel free to look back at the first episodes. If there is enough demand, I might bring this back. This was the first full game that I played in TEW 2013 and...I still have the save and I've just played it recently. Which made me remember of this dynasty. Now that I'm back and better, I could get this back on. If there is enough demand. Do you want to see TNE back? If so, why? Will I even care with your opinions when it's time to make my decision? If you want to find out, stay tunned on this thread.

Well, count me in as one who is pulling for it to return. I didn't read this the first go-round because I wasn't on the forum that much back in the summer, but I've just finished reading the whole thing and I frickin' loved it. Just such a different way to do a dynasty and the writing just pulls you in.

In other words, let them play! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

This week...on...WCW Presents: The New Era.

- The firings continue. Who will be the next victim?

- Goldberg's release sent shockwaves through the media. Will we ever know why he was fired? And how will fans react?

- The backstage is beginning to crumble...will the shows decline due to this?

- It's time for 90 minutes of Nitro with no tributes. Will the show succeed...or not really?

Nitro Preview, by Dave Meltzer (From the archives of TEW.com, June, Week 2)

Nitro is Gene has come and gone. And it was praised. But can Sting sustain his 65, or was that a result of simpathy due to Gene Okerlund's death? It was a bizarre week. Goldberg got canned, and he has no idea why. There are a lot of theories...some include...Rena Mero. What gives, Eric B.? Here are the announced matches for next week.

Dark Matches:

- The Filthy Animals (Kidman & Misterio) vs. 3 Count (Evan Karagias & Shannon Moore)

- El Dandy vs. Jason Jett

- Alex Wright vs. Shane Douglas

- Ernest Miller, Lash LeRoux and Kwee Wee vs. Road Warrior Animal, Crowbar & Mark Jindrak

- Lance Storm vs. Johnny Swinger

? & Kaz Hayashi vs. Jamie Knoble and Chris Harris (Open Fight Night Match)

The pre-show doesn't seem full of any surprises, except for Kaz's partner, and Open Fight Night (OFN) participant. It seems that Sting is being smart enough to cater not only to the TV audiences, but also to those who pay tickets. Smart move. WCW will need to keep the ticket payers happy. I can actually see WCW developing some undercard stories on the pre-show as a bonus, like they did with the Chick Magnet's debut last week. If you are one of the spectators at the Amway Arena, you will have a lot of wrestling to watch. Good for you...and me, I will be there.

Main Card:

- Hugh Morrus vs. Buff Bagwell (NWA World Title Tournament, round 1) - Who will advance in the next round of NWA's title tournament?

- Chuck Palumbo (w/ Sean O'Haire) vs. ? (w/ Konnan) - The Thrillers want revenge for last week's upset and so Konnan will have to produce a partner that will have to square off against Palumbo. Who will it be? Who will win?

- KroniK (Adams & Clark) vs. Dynamite Duo (? & ?); Open Fight Night Match - A new team called Dynamite Duo has responded to the OFN challenge. Who are they, and can they overcome KroniK?

- Scott Steiner vs. ? (OFN Match) - The final OFN match of the day will feature Scott Steiner facing a newcomer. Who will it be, and will an upset happen to Steiner?

- Sting vs. Mike Awesome (NWA World Title Tournament, round 1) - The Icon vs. the former ECW champion. Who will advance to the next round?

- (The Ric Flair Invitational #1) Ric Flair © vs. Booker T; (United States Championship Match) - Booker wants his title back and he means business. Can he overcome the champion, or will Flair have the final wooo...i mean word, here?

This looks like an interesting Nitro. But a lot of question marks are left unanswered. 3 OFN matches will bring 4 free agents to WCW. Will WCW become the land of free agents? Konnan's partner will also be revealed. It is not an OFN match, so this will be a familiar face. What and who to expect? Nitro is looking like a mistery...one I don't wanna miss. Let us all wait for monday to arrive quickly.

Nitro Quick Picks:

Dark Matches:

- The Filthy Animals (Kidman & Misterio) vs. 3 Count (Evan Karagias & Shannon Moore)

- El Dandy vs. Jason Jett

- Alex Wright vs. Shane Douglas

- Ernest Miller, Lash LeRoux and Kwee Wee vs. Road Warrior Animal, Crowbar & Mark Jindrak

- Lance Storm vs. Johnny Swinger

? & Kaz Hayashi vs. Jamie Knoble and Chris Harris (Open Fight Night Match)

Main Card:

- Hugh Morrus vs. Buff Bagwell (NWA World Title Tournament, round 1)

- Chuck Palumbo (w/ Sean O'Haire) vs. ? (w/ Konnan)

- KroniK (Adams & Clark) vs. Dynamite Duo (? & ?); Open Fight Night Match

- Scott Steiner vs. ? (OFN Match)

- Sting vs. Mike Awesome (NWA World Title Tournament, round 1)

- (The Ric Flair Invitational #1) Ric Flair © vs. Booker T; (United States Championship Match)

Predictions are back on - since the last ones were made in the summer - so you can review your choices or simply confirm them. All predictions made before for this show are voided, as it would be expected, so if you did predict before, you need to do so again. The prediction contest will also restart, since contestants will most likely change. Other then that, have fun, enjoy and feel free to comment and suggest anything you see fit.

As an extra challenge (and potencial tie breaker) try and guess any of the mistery wrestlers for this week's Monday Nitro.

Nitro will be coming back....eventually, in a TV Set near you! Don't miss it!

Predictions are still open, i havent "worked the show into paper yet" because I'm thinking about some changes I might do with the presentation. I'm not chaning the style of how I present the shows and I don't want to change the format of the episodes and the commentaries from the workers and all of that, I'm just thinking on a way to do it without dragging the interviews part for too long so I can put a few more shows out there to better develop the story. Maybe have them talk about more than one Nitro, or recap a month in an episode. Suggestions?

Main Card:

- Hugh Morrus vs. Buff Bagwell (NWA World Title Tournament, round 1)

Buff was one of the few people getting really over near the end of WCW. No reason for that to stop that so soon.

- Chuck Palumbo (w/ Sean O'Haire) vs. ? (w/ Konnan)

Chuck Palumbo sucked to put it blunt. The sooner Sean O'Haire splits from him the better. The guy was pegged to be a future main eventer by many during this time.

- KroniK (Adams & Clark) vs. Dynamite Duo (? & ?); Open Fight Night Match

Despite KroniK being somewhat over, they still couldn't work a match to save their lives.

- Scott Steiner vs. ? (OFN Match)

It'd be silly to have Steiner involved on the losing end of a match 2 weeks in a row. He needs to get his momentum back so DDP could face a red hot heel.

- Sting vs. Mike Awesome (NWA World Title Tournament, round 1)

Sting's still a huge draw, can't have him losing to non-threats like Awesome.

- (The Ric Flair Invitational #1) Ric Flair © vs. Booker T; (United States Championship Match) Draw

I expect a Double DQ/Draw. No need to put Flair over twice in a row against the World Champion. Jeff Jarrett probably comes out and lays out both men leading to a save from someone who isn't booked this week. I don't expect it to be a surprise save, more like Nash coming out to save both men.

He demands another shot and he wants to face Jarrett, that could only pin him through cheating, but Kanyon and Steiner also want another chance to get involved in the World Title Picture. All three men are unhappy with this, so Eric reminds them that he still has one spot left on the NWA title tournament and he is giving it to Kanyon. Luger and steiner are angry and confused, wondering why is Kanyon having the chance to become the #1 contender for two titles and they ask Eric why is he doing that to them.
