WWE SmackDown!Thursday, Week 2, April 2004

The opening video plays featuring the WWE Superstars that will be on the show tonight as Michael Cole and Tazz welcome the television audience to tonight's presentation of WWE SmackDown!

Michael Cole: Hello everybody, I'm Michael Cole right here with my broadcast partner Tazz, we welcome you to SmackDown, and partner, there may not have been a bigger main event in SmackDown history than the one we have tonight!

Tazz: Brock Lesnuh. Kurt Angle. Edge. All for the chance to fight Eddie Guerrero at Judgment Day?! What a blockbustah of a main event!

Michael Cole: Not only that, but we've got Tag Team AND Cruiserweight gold on the line tonight, not to mention the Undertaker will be in action!

Tazz: You all bettuh stay tuned because this one's gonna be huge!

RATING: 82 (B)

Notes: None.

"Viva La Raza" hits the speakers and the WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero is on his way out to the squared circle! The champ comes out and grabs a microphone.

5mCsTSLs.jpg

"Hola, orale mis amigos! Tonight, we've got Edge...and Kurt Angle...and Brock Lesnar fighting for the chance to wrestle me at Judgment Day, eh? People have been asking me all week 'Eddie, who do you want to face? Eddie, who do you think you match up the best with?' And you see, vatos locos, it doesn't even matter who I match up the best with, holmes. I have something they all don't, you see. I have a championship belt. I am the best on SmackDown, and I have gold to prove it, ese--"

The theme of Chavo Guerrero hits as Eddie's nephew comes out to meet him in the ring with a microphone (and a title belt) of his own.

ySr8GS6s.jpg

"Eddie, you need to get out of here right now. Once again, you step on my toes. You're not the Guerrero the fans came here to see tonight, that's me! I'm a champion too, and I have a match where I defend my title right now while you're out here running your mouth about stuff that no one gives a crap about!"

The crowd boos as Eddie simply smiles and shrugs.

5mCsTSLs.jpg

"Aye, Chavito. I see you, holmes, you're the Cruiserweight Champion! Congratulations!"

Eddie claps as Chavo mouths "That's right."

"Now hey, I know you got a match coming up right now, and I'm gonna leave you to it, nephew. But just remember -- there's a reason why Eddie Guerrero is main eventing Judgment Day and Chavo Guerrero isn't."

Eddie motions toward his WWE Championship and his music hits. He drops the mic and walks off, leaving Chavo furious inside the ring.

RATING: 87 (B+)

Notes: None.

Paul London vs. Nunzio vs. Chavo Guerrero ©

For the second straight week, being slighted by the fans' reaction to his uncle Eddie motivated Chavo. The Cruiserweight Champion bore down in this one, sending two more cruiserweights to the wayside after a Gory Bomb to Nunzio.

RATING: 69 (C+)

Notes: 6:51.

Backstage, Josh Matthews stands by with The APA. They talk about how they're excited to have another shot at the titles after WrestleMania. Matthews asks them who they think Haas's partner will be, and they respond indifferently, with Bradshaw and Simmons both looking forward to kicking any ass that they need to.

RATING: 54 (C-)

Notes: None.

Stevie Richards vs. Matt Hardy

These newly-drafted superstars faced off in a decent matchup, with both men getting the upper hand at different points. Eventually, Dawn Marie hit ringside, which distracted Matt Hardy enough to turn around into the Stevie Kick! Richards made the cover and got the win.

Stevie looked down at Dawn who smiled at him and clapped before walking back up the ramp, but Richards seemed confused.

RATING: 66 (C+)

Notes: None.

In the back, Big Show is sitting without his United States title. His pose seems pensive as Booker T walks by.

f5xpIIrs.jpg

"Lookat'chu man. You ain't nothin' compared to what you used to be. I ain't seen a giant I'm scared of in years. You know, we go way back Show, I know you for a long time, and I ain't never seen you this out of it."

Show looks up at him and slowly rises from his seat, towering over Booker.

YCsXSU9s.jpg

"Excuse me, Booker. You haven't been so hot yourself lately. When was the last time you won a World title? When WCW was alive? Get the hell outta here."

Booker laughs.

f5xpIIrs.jpg

"A'iiiight man, I see where you're goin' wit' dis...so why don'tchu show me that you got some fight left in you?"

YCsXSU9s.jpg

"I said get outta here, I don't need to prove myself to you."

Big Show goes to shove Booker in the face and walk away, but Booker reacts with a punch! Show grabs his head as Booker runs him backwards and the two of them scuffle in the back! Referees and other officials pull the two apart, as Booker is seen with a smile on his face as he's held back.

RATING: 85 (B+)

Notes: Both guys were superb.

____________________________________________

Next up, the APA hit the ring ready for their title opportunity! The big brawlers got down into the ring as Charlie Haas's music played. The WWE Tag Team Champion walked down the ramp with both titles and was handed a microphone as he stood in front of the ring. He talked about how he's upset that he won't hold the belts with his partner Shelton, but he's found an adequate replacement. He begins to introduce his partner when a man in a ski mask gets in the ring behind the APA with a chair! He smashes Bradshaw over the skull with it first, and then Simmons and begins to beat them down with the chair before the match started! Haas got in the ring as his partner revealed himself to be – Lance Storm! Finally, after the referee restored order, our WWE Tag Team title match was underway!

jCQytBR.jpgWp6MfX6.jpg vs. gBgl89u.jpgw3hYP6p.jpg

The APA vs. Charlie Haas © and Lance Storm

Despite the assault before the match, the APA put up a great effort. The bruisers took it to Haas and Storm, and despite their opponents' relative freshness, the APA's cohesiveness worked in their favor. However, Charlie Haas was able to cheap shot Ron Simmons in the skull with the title belt as Storm distracted the referee, leading to a big win for the new tag team!

RATING: 65 ©

Notes: 8:!5. Bradshaw's getting a little better in the ring, and Haas's brawling is improving by fighting these guys.

____________________________________________

After the match, Lance Storm and Charlie Haas receive their title belts, shaking hands and hugging soon after. The newly formed team is hyped up by the announcers, who put over the fact that they're both excellent ring generals and that this tag division has been put on notice.

RATING: 58 (C-)

Notes: None.

____________________________________________

After a commercial break, a familiar siren hits and “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner hits the ring. He grabs the microphone, as the crowd braces itself for the asininity that could possibly be about to spew from his mouth.

http://i.imgur.com/3ZDYgEis.jpg

“You all know that Big Poppa Pump is out for blood here on SmackDown, well I'm out here to issue a challenge – anyone that wants to take on the Big Bad Booty Daddy at Judgment Day, you're on! I'll beat up anyone in that locker room because I am a genetic freak and not one person in that locker room scares me. I'll let all you pansies in the back think about it and next week I'll be standin' right here in this ring waitin' for someone to accept my challenge for Judgment Day!”

RATING: 88 (B+)

Notes: None.

____________________________________________

Next up after a quick Judgment Day preview spot announced by the commentators, Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring for rare promo time. He walks down the ramp, but as he's about to get into the ring, three men jump the barricade and start to attack him! One man, identified by the announce team as Orlando Jordan, tosses him in the ring as the fans don't know how to react. Seemingly calling the shots, Jordan orders his two African-American associates to lift up the pummeled Mysterio. Jordan grabs Mysterio and hits a Reverse STO, flattening Rey's skull into the canvas as the crowd doesn't know what to think. The three men walk out through the crowd, leaving the former Cruiserweight Champion down in the ring as we go to a commercial break.

RATING: 50 (D+)

Notes: None.

Hardcore Holly vs. Rene Dupree

The SmackDown newcomer didn't show much fear of the hard-hitting veteran, as Dupree trash talked during the entire match. Holly, though, took no nonsense, and landed some hard strikes of his own. Out of nowhere, Theodore Long of all people hit ringside and started spouting rhetoric toward Holly. Holly pointed down at him and yelled back, but this was enough of a distraction for Rene Dupree to roll him up and grab the tights for a win!

RATING: 70 (C+)

Notes: 7:33. Rene is improving with his Performance skills.

____________________________________________

With Dupree rolling out of the ring victorious, Hardcore Holly turns his sights toward Theodore Long, who advises he turn around. The crowd then sees Mark Henry get into the ring behind him and pick him up for the World's Strongest Slam! Henry stands over Hardcore Holly as Theodore Long raises his hand high in the air.

RATING: 62 ©

Notes: None.

Backstage, Edge stands with Josh Matthews, who asks him his thoughts on his #1 contender's match tonight!

9IpjDhZs.jpg

“Tonight's gonna be a big night for me for a couple of reasons. To have my first match back from a potentially career ending injury be worth a shot at the WWE Championship is a blessing. One year out from surgery, countless setbacks, and the longest road I've ever traveled, and I'm back here on SmackDown ready for the biggest match of my entire career. And not only that, but I also get to beat the hell out of Brock Lesnar on my way to Judgment Day.”

RATING: 76 (B-)

Notes: None.

____________________________________________

Pk8B6JO.jpg vs. iNENmgL.jpg

The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer vs. Chuck Palumbo

This one, as you might imagine, was a laugher. The Undertaker made his return to SmackDown a dominant one, finishing off the petrified Italian big man with a Tombstone Piledriver.

RATING: 83 (B+)

Notes: 6:27. The crowd is really eating up the return of the Phenom.

____________________________________________

After a commercial break, Eddie Guerrero makes his way down to the ring for commentary, playing to the crowd as he walks down with this WWE title. He gets alongside Cole, and Tazz, who welcome him for the main event!

RATING: 100 (A*)

Notes: None.

Edge vs. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar

This match was a constant display of passion and fast paced action by these three men hungry for a title shot. Edge and Lesnar especially were at each others' throats, but soon learned that they could not keep their eyes off of the Olympic gold medalist. Angle looked to strike at any moment possible, so the other two men looked to beat him down. That strategy didn't work either, as soon Edge and Lesnar were brawling again. Edge hit a spear on Angle at one point, but was unable to make the cover because Kurt rolled out of the ring. It finally ended when Edge hit a Spear on Brock, but was pulled off the cover by Angle, who immediately locked in a grapevined Ankle Lock! Edge was frantically looking for the ropes, but couldn't budge Angle, who eventually forced Edge to tap out! Kurt Angle will face Eddie Guerrero at Judgment Day!

RATING: 78 (B)

Notes: 11:18. Angle's brawling skills are getting better.

____________________________________________

After the match, Eddie Guerrero gets into the ring as Edge and Brock leave. He and Angle stare each other down, knowing what's at stake between these two men and how much respect they have for one another. Eddie, belt around his waist, shakes Kurt's hand and then raises it, clearly happy with the man he's going to face off with at Judgment Day. The show comes to a close with Cole and Tazz speculating about the pay-per-view!

RATING: 86 (B+)

Notes: None.

You mean my 2012 mod? Now that would be awesome. :D But seriously, if you could upload the database with those changes (especially since you inserted guys in there that were not there) I would love playing a game with such modifications.

Yes. I didn't realize it was yours :p. The problem there is that I only combined it with my save game and not the overall database, and I really only did it so I could make the game a bit more workable until iDOL's mod becomes available for everyone else. I would need to fix it up a bit and make some tweaks (not to mention get permission from people's mods who I combined to make my weird hybrid version of this game) before I could let people use it.

Gah, I should have clarified. I had a typo in the last show which I fixed, I meant that Shelton would fight whoever the champs were at Backlash.

Most of the mods you used are probably free to use. Please do this. I would love that version of the game. Besides, i have no idea if Idol has any plans to finishit in the short-term.

Even though he lost in his bid to become the #1 contender to the WWE Championship, Edge's return has been quite the noisemaker thus far on SmackDown.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">#17</span></strong></p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/9bHsEeHs.jpg</span></p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Christian</span></strong> (previous: #14); Maybe Booker T's incendiary words will push the United States Champion back up the mountain – and the Power 25.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">#19</span></strong></p><p> <img alt="dhDKZ5hs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dhDKZ5hs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Chris Jericho</span></strong> (previous: #21);
