[HYPE]Risky Business (January 1985)

Recommended Posts

Okie dokie, Joint Promotions and All Star Wrestling (UK) are both done, so next up is the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico. Apparently their roster wasn't too huge according to WrestlingData.com around this time period, so they may not take too long to get done. Then moving on to Mexico to do the rosters for EMLL and UWA. I was going to include International Wrestling based in the Maritimes in Canada, but apparently they were on hiatus at this point, and would eventually put on shows for the WWF, much like Paul Boesch did with Houston Wrestling. So I'm just sticking with Grand Prix for the Maritimes. So as of right now, three companies to go, then on to making sure I haven't left out any key free agents, importing future workers and working on them, title lineages, testing and all that good stuff. I would be further along, but I needed some time to clear my head after a car wreck I had last week. Everything should be working out on that front, though, but just needed the head clearing, if that makes sense.

Alrighty, getting to work on WWC just reminded me of that POS scumbag, Jose Gonzalez. For those of you kids who just got into wrestling and don't know much about the history, he's the POS who murdered Bruiser Brody in 1988. Now this mod is set to start in January 1985. I'm not an expert on the Puerto Rican wrestling scene, so I'm not sure if there were tensions involving Brody, Gonzalez and Carlos Colon around this time or not. But seeing as this mod is set three years before Gonzalez commits the murder, should I leave his law problems at 0%, knowing that he can do something against the law later on in-game, and just set his personality to be as negative as possible? That's what I'm thinking would be the best way to go.

Look for news or things about his arrest history etc, if not I would definitely have him set to be a trouble maker personality wise....but I would set some law trouble for sure, just if he doesn't have a record maybe not too much, and definitely not known.

If a man kills in cold blood, he didn't do it by accident and once...

We are talking of a different country as well, during much different times than these.

From every story I have heard PR is and was dangerous place wrestling or to even live on the island.

Updated the front page to show that WWC, at least from what I could gather in my research, is finished. Now for a bit of a breather before I start working on Mexico, starting with either EMLL or UWA. In the meantime, I'm taking under consideration what to do about Angles. There are quite a few who like Idolized's angle pack, which is what I have imported right now (over 1,000 angles). But there are a few grumbling about just wanting the Default angles being used. For now, unless there's a big backlash against the Idolized angle pack, I'm sticking with that and those who don't want so many angles can just mass delete them and replace them with whatever they want to use. The gimmick pack I have, I'm sticking with. I'm using Mammoth's gimmick pack, with some tweaks by me, and it clocks in at 695 gimmicks, just five shy of 700. I felt that was a perfect number balance, as it's not too many to make it bloated data, but provides enough variety for the lot of people who like a variety of gimmicks. Plus, I don't want to go through every worker I have in the mod right now and re-assign gimmicks.

You going to give Moondog Rex the Alter Ego of Demolition Smash?

What I'll probably do is add a Moondog Rex owned Smash alter ego set at a very low percentage (maybe 0-5%). That way, it's in there for those who want to use the original Demolition Smash, but at the same time, there's a better chance that companies will be hiring Randy Colley to be Moondog Rex.

<3 I thought people had forgotten about that pack and my mod would be the only one using it. I mean, I was already looking forward to this mod anyway but I'm looking forward to it even more now just to see what gimmicks you've added. :)

The only one I can remember off the top of my head was Obnoxious, without any other basis gimmicks for it, lol. There might have been a few other ones that I'm not remembering at the moment. Most likely just adding more gimmick bases to gimmicks that I felt could be portrayed in those different manners. One of the tweaks I made was lowering the difficulty of some of the Realistic-based gimmicks. My logic behind that is that realistic gimmicks usually are much easier to pull off since they're grounded in reality, and we all know the adage that most of the time, the best characters are the ones that aren't that too far off from the real person.

About to get started on Mexico. Once I do EMLL and UWA, I'll be importing Yet to Debut workers and adjusting their stats so that they have room to grow. That way if players who use Development companies hire them, they don't start asking to be called up straight away or not wanting to go to development because of stats being too high.

Got the UWA done, so unless I can find enough information for Southwest Championship Wrestling and Texas All Star Wrestling to warrant including those two companies, then I have one company left, EMLL (the soon to be CMLL). Then I can start importing titles (and subsequent title histories), future workers, relationships, alter egos, etc. Then to do house cleaning to tidy things up and to run some tests.

It's more or less making sure that workers who are in the mod are synced to any title histories they're apart of so that they get credit for having won those titles.

Texas All Star is done just like that. Now on to EMLL starting this weekend. After that, it's on to importing alter egos and deleting unneeded or duplicate ones; importing titles and the title histories that come along with it; importing future workers; double checking TV and Events; and of course, testing. I know I'm taking it slow, but I want this to be a quality mod and not a rush job that has a million errors. I know there will be errors when I release it, and there's the potential to disagree on stats and popularity, but I want to try to minimize all that as much as possible.
