Unfortunately we're gonna be having a slight delay with Mayhem in Manchester. If you'd spotted me in the Tech Support forum you'll have seen my database corruption issue. The good news however is that I've only lost WM14 onwards - so the eagle eyed amongst you will notice that WrestleMania has been replicated and ratings/times have changed a little. Main event and the show itself got a better rating though, so it's all good.

The first sight to greet us in the North of England was Vince McMahon exiting a black cab with a big grin spread across his face. McMahon guaranteed that Stone Cold would be sent back home to the States in pieces after what he has in store for him tonight. [77] Later we would see Owen Hart joining McMahon in his office to discuss tactics for tonight’s tag team main event – unfortunately the cameras couldn’t catch the conversation. [74] The WWF Champion made his usual late arrival, as he pulled up in his pick-up truck and cracked open a beer on his way inside the arena. [80]

When the main event eventually rolled around, we saw Steve Austin and Ken Shamrock go to war with McMahon’s obvious favourites Owen Hart and Triple H. Clearly under instruction from the WWF’s Owner, Hart and Helmsley used every underhand tactic in the book to gain an advantage but they were neutralised after The Mastodon Vader made an appearance. The big man’s arrival saw Triple H quickly exit the ringside area and through the crowd with Vader in hot pursuit. All this meant that The Black Hart was left all alone and all it took was a Stone Cold Stunner from the WWF Champion to give his team the victory. [20:36 / 78] Unfortunately for Austin though, the night didn’t end with that victory – as the Big Red Machine Kane made an appearance. As fire burst out of both the entrance way and the ringposts, Kane gave the WWF Champion a beating; with a Chokeslam and a Tombstone leaving Austin down and out and McMahon with a big grin on his face. [86]

After being absent on Raw is War this past week, the WWF Intercontinental Champion The Rock was in fine form as he lead his Nation of Domination into England. The Rock claimed that the English fans were lucky to see him, as his superstar status was such that he was too busy to even appear on Raw this past week due to the volume of demand from the people. Rocky told the rest of The Nation that it was their duty tonight to give Cactus Jack and Terry Funk the beating they deserved and prove once and for all that they were has-beens. Rocky also made an open challenge for right here, right now for anyone in attendance to challenge him for the Intercontinental Championship. [53] The challenge was accepted by a fan in the front row, who quickly identified himself as British wrestling star Robbie Brookside. [75] Rocky was taken aback initially when faced with an unknown experienced challenger but quickly regained control and a Rock Bottom gave him the victory. [3:26 / 51]

As quickly as that match ended the next began as The Nation team of D’Lo Brown and Kama Mustafa took the fight to Cactus Jack and Terry Funk. The Intercontinental Champion attempted to get involved but was quickly thrown out from ringside; allowing the Hardcore Legends to give his underlings a beating and score a victory. [10:16 / 50] After Cactus got backstage he told Kevin Kelly that his issues with The Rock were not over but for now, he is enjoying teaming up with his idol – and as such, they will be making a push for the Tag Team titles in the near future. [57]

A widespread, overarching storyline of the night began as Triple H told The New Age Outlaws backstage that they knew what to do tonight. It was a somewhat cryptic message but one that became clear rather quickly. [68] In a moment that didn’t seem related initially, the Manchester fans saw the debut on English superstar William Regal. Regal was given a great reception at his arrival but he quickly told the Manchester fans exactly what he thought of them and they rapidly turned against him. [58] Regal was the mystery opponent for the European Champion Vader and he gave the Mastodon a good fight to begin with. Unfortunately for both Vader and the fans in attendance, the match was ruined by the arrival of the WWF Tag Team Champions. The Outlaws stayed at ringside, but their argument with Vader allowed Regal to sneak in from behind and use a school boy, with a handful of tights, to steal the victory and the European title on his debut. [7:42 / 45]

This wasn’t the last appearance for the Outlaws as they teamed with Bradshaw in six-man tag team action to take on The Legion of Doom and Barry Windham. The match itself was a pure brawl with all six men leaving nothing on the table; but it was the extra-hard hitting style of Bradshaw that earned his team the victory. The big Texan ended the night for Hawk with a huge lariat in the midst of the chaos and scored the pinfall. [10:36 / 38]

Ahead of her husband’s WrestleMania rematch, Sable came out to the ring to perform ring announcing duties – introducing both competitors to the fans. [64] Much like at WrestleMania, Marc Mero and Val Venis were well matched – but it was the presence of Sable at ringside that dominated the match. The Big Valbowski was clearly distracted by her womanly ways, and unusually for Mero – he used her to his advantage and didn’t get hot headed about the situation; delivering a TKO to Venis and taking the victory in the opening contest. A SACRIFICE AT THE CARNIVAL

Despite not being schedules, the Dark Carnival made an appearance in Manchester. As ever, Vampiro lead the two-man group and delivered a promo full of riddles – he eventually got to his point and declared that tonight he would sacrifice a Hardy Boy; he didn’t care which one but he would defeat him and send him to hell. [49] It was Matt Hardy who answered the challenge, but despite his best efforts the prophecy came true and Vampiro used his patented Nail in the Coffin to secure the victory. [2:07 / 20] The beating didn’t end at the bell, as Viscera and Jeff Hardy got involved – but as Vampiro sat back and watched, his big destroyer gave the two brothers a big splash each and the Dark Carnival were on their way. [53]

THE CAMP CORNETTE CHALLENGE

Once again, James E. Cornette lead out his Camp Cornette duo of Dustin Rhodes and Jeff Jarrett – he announced that the pair would continue to prove that they deserved another shot at the Tag Team titles. [30] And prove it, they did – as they found victory over Faarooq and Too Cold Scorpio early on in the night. The pairing of Faarooq and Scorpio put in a good effort and on any normal day they would have been rewarded with victory; but a shot from Cornette’s tennis racket to the back of Scorpio left him helpless to Rhodes and the Pavor Nocturnus. We also saw a second Championship defended in Manchester as Jushin Liger defended his Light Heavyweight title against Lance Storm. The pair went back and forth for several minutes and there were times when both men looked like winners. Storm got a near fall from a Superkick but as he tried to lock in the Canadian Maple Leaf – but Liger battled free and used his Brainbuster to score the victory and retain the title. [7:40 / 28]

THE REST

The night began with a promo video about the tag team main event [72] followed by an introduction from the announce team of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. [56] Later in the night, we got another video promoting Fully Loaded on pay-per-view on April 26<sup>th</sup>. [75]

It's not all doom and gloom for the Mastodon - I'm sure he'll get some heat back on DX soon!

Regal just looks right with the European title and I thought this was a good way to bring him in. I've had him signed for several weeks just waiting for the opportunity.

As for the Dark Carnival - I really loved Vampiro in WCW as a kid and want to give him a good run. I sort of see the group as a Brood crossed with Wyatt Family. As they build up more, hopefully that comes across more.

The next Raw is being finished up now so should land at the weekend. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Raw is War kicked off with a confrontation between the WWF Champion Steve Austin and the WWF’s Owner Vince McMahon. Stone Cold was furious after the WWF’s tour of England and demanded that McMahon give him his match against Kane right here tonight – he didn’t want to wait until Fully Loaded. McMahon humoured Austin for a while but eventually gave the Rattlesnake another opponent for tonight’s main event – Owen Hart. [88] Later in the night, The Black Hart thanked McMahon backstage – but was quick to tell Vince that he wanted the WWF Championship on the line. McMahon assured Owen that he would get his shot eventually – but not tonight, as that wasn’t part of the plan. [77]

In the main event itself, Austin and Hart put on a clinic in the ring – harking back to their battles at Summerslam, Survivor Series and No Way Out. The battle raged on until, Owen spun out of a Stone Cold Stunner attempt and sent the Rattlesnake into the referee – knocking him down and out. With the official out of commission, the Big Red Monster arrived and assaulted the WWF Champion. Kane gave Austin the Tombstone Piledriver and left the ring – allowing Hart to make the cover and steal the victory. [16:24 / 77] After the bell, Kane returned and continued to lay waste to the Champion. [86] Eventually, McMahon joined the Big Red Monster in the ring and taunted Austin – telling him that his days as WWF Champion were numbered. [87]

After splitting from his long-term partner last week, Triple H was back to his usual self as he came to the ring to openly mock Vader for losing – yet another – Championship a week after winning it. Helmsley told the world what they already knew, that he was behind his DX stable mates attacking the former European Champion in England – before telling Vader that he would regret it if the Mastodon involved himself in Triple H’s business again tonight. [73] Helmsley was then in action against Ken Shamrock – but just as the contest was really heating up, the angry Vader made his presence felt when he hit the ring and went for Triple H. [10:03 / 72] After winning via disqualification, Triple H quickly looked like anything but a winner as Vader bloodied his nose and gave him the beating he deserved him. Unfortunately it didn’t last as long as it should have, as Helmsley hit a low blow and scurried away through the crowd once again. [74]

The WWF Intercontinental Champion The Rock was too busy to appear on Raw is War last week; but this Monday night he was back to his usual cocky best. After pulling a similar stunt in England over the weekend, Rocky gave the fans in attendance a speech about how great he was and how he was quite possibly the greatest of all-time. The Rock proclaimed himself to not just be a Champion for the People but the Champion of the People – and as the People’s Champion he would give the people a chance to win big and get their hands on the Intercontinental Championship. Rocky gave any fan in attendance a chance to fight him right here tonight for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. [92] A fan was let into the ring, and let his fellow fans know that his name was Darren Drosdov. The young kid gave the Rock a scare early on, but his inexperience soon told and a Rock Bottom ended another successful defence. [2:04 / 43]

It was a running theme for the night, but we had a second title match as the New Age Outlaws put their WWF World Tag Team Championships on the line against the Japanese duo Chirashi. The Light Heavyweight Champion Jushin Liger and his partner TAKA Michinoku gave the Outlaws a great battle but their underhand tactics proved too much as they misdirected the referee and gave TAKA a Spike Piledriver to seal the victory. [3:52 / 54] As they promised in England over the weekend, the team of Cactus Jack and Terry Funk made their way onto the stage and as Funk wielded a branding iron menacingly – Cactus challenged the Outlaws to a fight any place any time. Road Dogg was quick to respond – telling Jack to get lost, and only come back once they’ve proved what they can do as a tag team. [60]

The new WWF European Champion William Regal made his US debut and was quick to tell the fans what he felt about being here. He made a promise to bring some class to the cesspit that was here before him. [40] Unfortunately for Too Cold Scorpio – his opponent tonight – Regal backed up his words in the ring as he forced him to submit in his patented Regal Stretch to make his first successful defence of the European title. [3:40 / 47] After the bell, Regal unceremoniously dumped Scorpio from the ring and got back on the microphone – continuing to rundown the USA and the fans. He was eventually stopped when Ahmed Johnson stormed to the ring – Ahmed ripped the microphone from Regal’s hand and demanded that he repeat his slurs. Regal was quick to back down, choosing to fight another day – he grabbed his title belt and sarcastically waved to Ahmed as he left; only further angering the big man. [39]

The opening contest of the night was a two-on-one handicap match as the heavy of the Dark Carnival – the menacing Viscera went up against Matt and Jeff; The Hardy Boys. Despite a great showing, the combined effort of the brothers was nothing as a big splash on both men gave Viscera the win. [2:24 / 29] Vampiro came to the ring and threw both of the Hardy’s out before demanding that his group gets some better competition. Eventually, Steve Blackman ran down to the ring with the Lethal Weapon giving both Vampiro and Viscera a good fight – but he was soon stopped when a third man hit the ring and gave Blackman a big spear. Vampiro introduced his third man as Edge and announced that the Dark Carnival’s influence was growing. [51]

THE REST

The night began with still photos from Saturday’s live pay-per-view from England – Mayhem in Manchester. [76] The Raw is War intro video [78] was followed by a quick discussion by our announce team of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. [61] We got another video highlighting the next In Your House pay-per-view titled Fully Loaded in just 20 days. [78]

KK: Hunter, thanks a lot for joining me here tonight – we’ve had a ton of questions in for you and I can’t wait to get started.

HHH: Kevin, shut up – there’s gonna be no questions from you and no questions from the fans. I have two things to get off of my chest and I don’t want to hear another damn word from you. First things first; Shawn Michaels – don’t get any ideas; I put you on the shelf and that’s where you need to stay. The only reason I let you stay around these last few months was because you had that WWF Championship – and the second you lost; that was when you no longer had any worth to me or my career. Stay out of my business kid; I’m moving on to bigger and better things. And speaking of staying out of my business; Vader – you keep being a thorn in my side – I thought you would take the hint and get lost. I will kick your ass once and for all – at Fully Loaded, I’ll make sure you get the hint when I put your fat ass on the shelf as well. Kevin – you can take the rest of this interview and shove it.

In the opening contest A-Train debuting his new manager The Jackyl and secured victory over Bob Holly. [2:50 / 32] The newest member of the Dark Carnival – Edge defeated Scott Taylor with his Spear. [3:08 / 20] In tag team action The Headbangers defeated Los Boricuas [3:50 / 33] before Jushin Liger defended his WWF Light Heavyweight Championship against Aguila in the main event. [5:46 / 42]

If there was a single theme that ran the length of this episode of Raw is War – it was that Vince McMahon always has a back-up plan. It began when the WWF’s Owner came to the ring and in no uncertain terms told his WWF Champion Steve Austin that if he had any sense – he would forfeit the WWF Championship and retire from the ring before Kane left him with no choice in the matter. [80] The Rattlesnake made his way to the ring; but before he could tell McMahon exactly what was on his mind he was ambushed by Triple H and Owen Hart. McMahon’s henchmen gave Austin a beating – but they were stopped in their tracks by the arrival of their respective rivals – Vader and Ken Shamrock. As the brawl ensued – McMahon demanded that everybody stop fighting and listen to him – with the Owner announcing tonight’s main event as Hart and Helmsley would team up to face Shamrock and Vader. [75]

Backstage, McMahon gave Hart and Helmsley a pep talk and told them to not only take care of Vader and Shamrock tonight but also at Fully Loaded in their respective singles matches. McMahon told them to make sure they got the job done as he had enough on his plate with Austin and didn’t need the distraction. [72] We also heard from Stone Cold – who told Kevin Kelly that he will make McMahon and his henchmen pay tonight; before stomping a mudhole in Kane and walking it dry. [80]

By the time of the main event, the fans had been riled up into a frenzy and the chaotic tag team contest tipped them over the top. The tension between the two teams didn’t let up for the whole match but it was after McMahon arrived at ringside barking orders that things went south. Austin hit the ring to a huge ovation and made a beeline for McMahon – he chased the Owner around the ring before following him inside. Kane then arrived and the match was thrown at as all six men fought in the ring. [15:38 / 70] Unfortunately for five of those men, Kane was on fire – he dropped everything in sight and once again ended the show by planting the WWF Champion on his head with the Tombstone Piledriver. [83]

STILL THE PEOPLE’S CHAMP

In something that was fast becoming a tradition during Raw is War; the WWF Intercontinental Champion The Rock made his way to the ring to tell the fans how much they loved him. He once again offered any of his people a chance to fight him in this ring for the Intercontinental title – the challenge was answered by a young kid by the name of Joey Matthews. [92] Unfortunately for all concerned, the battle was one-sided and The Rock gained another easy victory and retained his title. [1:31 / 48]

Backstage we got an intense interview with Cactus Jack – he was alone but talked about his chances of winning the Tag Team titles at Fully Loaded with his mentor Terry Funk. Jack told the Champions that at Fully Loaded the best thing to happen to them would be to stand and fight because they tried to run, Jack and Funk would put them through “table, after table, after table, after table – bang bang!” [60] Later in the night we found Terry Funk lying amongst the remains of a broken table backstage, covered in blood as paramedics rushed to the scene. [58] We then saw the New Age Outlaws and they were joking about Funk getting beaten up backstage – laughing to each other and saying that whoever did it, did them a favour. Cactus then arrived swinging a steel chair – but the Champions quickly got out of dodge. [63]

A BAD ASS FROM PEARL RIVER

The new European Champion William Regal was in his usual fine form, as he joined the commentary team and spent the whole match insulting both the United States of America and his latest rival Ahmed Johnson. [57] It was the Pearl River Powerhouse who was in action – as he gave a great showing, making light work of his opponent Kama Mustafa from the Nation of Domination. The rest of The Nation were clearly not as strong as their leader, as the Pearl River Plunge gave Johnson the win. [4:04 / 50] After the bell sounded, Regal slid into the ring and looked to take Ahmed’s head off with his European title belt – but the big man saw it coming and ducked; catching Regal on the rebound with a big Spinebuster. Johnson looked for the Pearl River Plunge – but Regal got quickly out of the ring and ran off with his belt intact. [41]

The Dark Carnival were back in action once again – as Vampiro lead his three man team of Edge and Viscera as they took on Steve Blackman and The Headbangers in six-man tag team action. It was clear from the off that the mind games of the Dark Carnival were the key to their victory; with the exciting newcomer Edge giving a great showing as he scored the victory over Mosh following a Spear. [4:37 / 42] After the match, the mind games continued – with Vampiro promising to make another sacrifice – as he would blunt the Lethal Weapon at Fully Loaded in 13 days. [48]

A BRAWL THE SIZE OF TEXAS

In his first in-ring appearance since his partner turned his back on him – Barry Windham was in action against Savio Vega. In a big brawl to open the show, it was Windham who eventually came out on top after a Superplex from the middle rope. [3:18 / 40] Windham didn’t get chance to celebrate however as Bradshaw hit the ring looking for a fight; Windham was prepared though and got the advantage – sending his former partner out of the ring and hightailing it to the back. [45]

THE REST

The night began with highlights from last week; with Kane once again showing his dominance over the WWF Champion. [78] The Raw is War intro video [72] was followed by a quick discussion by our announce team of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. Vader joined Kevin Kelly to answer the fans questions. He covered a number of areas; including his seven-day reign as the WWF Champion and his six-day reign as the European Champion. The Mastodon re-affirmed that he wasn’t a flash in the pan like had been suggested and truly believes that on any other night he could’ve retained the title against Michaels and still be the WWF Champion to this day. He also covered his rivalry with Triple H and promised to make him pay for his actions over recent weeks – at Fully Loaded it would be time; Vader Time.

As the Mastodon posed and Kevin Kelly wrapped up the interview – Triple H appeared from behind and attacked Vader; hitting him with every object he could get his hands on before security pulled him away – the pair will meet on pay-per-view in 8 days. [69]

THE MATCHES

In the opening match, A-Train defeated Joey Matthews [2:45 / 21] – we then saw the Dark Carnival pick up another two victories; with Edge defeating Mosh [3:08 / 30] and Vampiro defeating Thrasher [3:32 / 37]. In the main event, Lance Storm and his partner Super Loco got the upper hand over the Light Heavyweight Champion as they defeated Chirashi (Jushin Liger and TAKA Michinoku. [6:15 / 33]

THE REST
