This game relies way too much on luck.

I'd like to hear, for anyone who's playing RTL, how many storylines you won and lost your first year. I ask because I've played "Working the Indies" about 900 times and I've won once, neutral result 4 times, and lost it 7. Is this normal? Because I'm getting really frustrated.

<p>The game is too hard in the beginning and too easy in the end. Once you get to 1000 Overall Rating the game gets a lot easier and only a few people are a challenge.</p><p> </p><p>

If you want to win just be large enough to use fisherman's suplex. You need 600 grappling. Match ratings will take a hit though.</p>

<p>I have purchased this game three days ago, and played it for at least 10 hours...</p><p>

This means that it is a good game... but now I've lost much of the desire to play it.</p><p> </p><p>

For win a match, you need to have a very good tactic (and this is ok), but also with every possible adjustment you'll surely lose some match, also if you're really stronger than your opponent.</p><p> </p><p>

And you have to win 12 (!!!) consecutive games to advance from Unknown to Local Talent...</p><p> </p><p>

In fact, failing a Storyline is terrible, a disaster for your career... instead, winning 8 consecutive matches give you only the possibility to improve a little.</p><p> </p><p>

I own WMA2 and 3, TEW 2013, A:GH, CBH... why this game is so damned difficult and frustrating?</p><p> </p><p>

I'm a developer and I know that creating "only" a simple random simulation 0-1000 is one of the hardest possible thing, and so I simply don't understand why trying to use so extensively in a game.</p><p> </p><p>

I do not want to sound too critical, really, I'm a loyal customer <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> , for this reason I find that this game is just too unbalanced, frankly I do not feel to recommend it to some of my friends.</p><p> </p><p>

I really like the idea of the storyline based game, but you can not frustrate the player so much.</p><p> </p><p>

From this post, I read that some people have about my idea, and some like the game the way it is now.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't have a direct solution, also the easier ones: difficulty settings and more options settings (like: failure is lost 3 on 4 matches, neutral winning only 1/2 or 3/4, success 4/4).</p><p> </p><p>

I think the "core" of the game it's ok, but, precisely because winning a match is never a certainty, you can not then claim that the player never loses <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Indulging in a bit of thread necromancy, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having issues with the random nature of the game. Empirically, I know it's completely transparent and that the game isn't cheating at all, but I like to have fun when I play games and it's extremely not fun to face Achilles the Mighty and connect with one move then take an unbroken streak of twenty-three before I succeed in escaping any of his.

The other thing I don't get it is why when you're on offense and the computer tries to counter your move with another move, if both moves fail the computer gets to go on offense. Why? They didn't do anything to stop your move, why do they get to take the momentum?

Indulging in a bit of thread necromancy, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having issues with the random nature of the game. Empirically, I know it's completely transparent and that the game isn't cheating at all, but I like to have fun when I play games and it's extremely not fun to face Achilles the Mighty and connect with one move then take an unbroken streak of twenty-three before I succeed in escaping any of his.

As you've pointed out though, there's exactly as much chance of the opposite happening and him hitting one move and you hitting twenty-three in a row - I can't think why, but when that happens people seem happy to attribute it to their great tactics, but when it happens to them it's always a flawed system ;) Seriously though, if you have suggestions for improvements, the Suggestions forum is further below, I'm happy to consider changes, although given that the game is explicitly about probability and luck, I can't see a great deal of scope for alterations that would address your issue.

The other thing I don't get it is why when you're on offense and the computer tries to counter your move with another move, if both moves fail the computer gets to go on offense. Why? They didn't do anything to stop your move, why do they get to take the momentum?

If both moves miss then the original attacker remains in control. I've just tried it and it appears to be working perfectly well irrespective of whether it's a human or AI defending. Perhaps you're using an out-of-date patch?
