Davis is now standing in the pocket. Davis uses a nice left jab from the pocket. Davis throws rights and lefts, but Oliva covers up well and none of the shots find a home. We have one minute of the round remaining. Oliva looks to be trying to close the distance between them. Oliva walks into a big jab, landing right on the cheek. There's a takedown attempt from Davis. Davis can't get past the sprawl of Oliva, and finds himself pushed face-down to the ground. Time expires and we come to the end of round one.

Round 2

There's the bell for the start of the round! It sounded like his corner told Davis to push for takedowns in this round. Davis hits a flurry of quick punches. Oliva has his hands far too low to offer a good guard. Davis uses a feint to get Oliva off balance, but the flurry of rights and lefts that follow don't find their mark. Davis counters a left jab by hitting a solid left. Moving forward, Davis counters a left jab with a body kick. Davis shoots in, looking for a takedown. Davis doesn't get the takedown, Oliva saw it coming and was equal to it. Moving in closer, Oliva looks like he may want to wrestle Davis. Davis seems happy to grapple with Oliva. We move into the second half of this round. Looking to take this fight to the ground, Davis tries to pull Oliva down into his guard. In a violent counter, Oliva responds by driving him into the ground with a vicious slam! Oliva steps back and allows Davis to stand back up. Davis shoots in for a takedown. Davis is stopped by a good sprawl, and is pulled down to the ground in a loose front facelock until he is on his knees. Oliva fires away with punches, and Davis is taking powerful shot after powerful shot! The referee is forced to jump in and stop the match!

The winner, by TKO, is David 'The Mayan Assassin' Oliva!

Rosholt bursts into life and tries to scramble into a better position. Palelei is too quick though, and grabs side control before Rosholt can get up. We've now passed the halfway mark in this round. In side control, Palelei catches his breath, content just to throw a couple of punches to the body. The end of the round is coming quick, there's under a minute left. Palelei is trying to move from side control to mount. Palelei struggles but cannot mount Rosholt. Palelei blocks Rosholt as he tries a transition to guard. Palelei attempts to armbar Rosholt from side control. Rosholt doesn't allow the armbar to be applied. The time is up, and that's the end of round one.

That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Palelei.

Round 2

And here we go, round two! A left jab misses and Palelei counters with a series of lefts. Soa Palelei doesn't look like he has much left in the tank. I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Palelei.

A visibly tired Rosholt is looking to turn this into a wrestling match, and is getting in closer to Palelei. Palelei is pulled into a grapple. Rosholt, who is visibly tired, looks like he might want to get in close and wrestle with Palelei. He pulls Palelei into a grapple. We are now at the halfway point of the round. Rosholt finds his dirty boxing smothered, and Palelei gains the dominant position in the grapple. From the grapple, Palelei tries to work in some close-range strikes, but Rosholt is alert and smothers them quickly. Palelei is looking to muscle Rosholt back against the cage. Palelei achieves it, pinning Rosholt to the cage. Palelei catches Rosholt with a hard right hand to the ribs. We're into the final minute of the round. With the cage trapping Rosholt, Palelei gets the underhooks in and looks for a takedown. A sweep of the legs is successful, Rosholt has to pull half guard. The gas tank looks empty on Jared Rosholt. Palelei attempts an arm triangle. Rosholt stops Palelei from applying it. Rosholt works some separation, then tries to quickly scramble his way into a better position. He isn't fast enough, and has to turtle up with Palelei on top of him. The time runs out and that round is over, and so is the fight.

I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Palelei.

Here come the official scores. All three judges have given 30-27.

Making Soa Palelei the winner by unanimous decision!

Unbalanced and unprepared, Perosh is only just able to cover up in time to absorb a nice one-two combination. Perosh feints stepping in. There's a stalemate as both fighters throw strikes, but neither scores. Backing out of range, Soszynski circles tentatively. Perosh presses in closer to attack. Perosh chooses to shoot in on Soszynski. The takedown is stuffed, so Perosh has to go to settle for pushing Soszynski up against the cage. Perosh tries to take Soszynski down. We move into the final sixty seconds of this round. Perosh looks to get past the guard. Soszynski comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Perosh in guard. The time runs out on round one.

That wasn't the most exciting round we've ever seen, hopefully things will pick up in the next one.

There was very little to separate them in that round, but I'll give that one 10-9 to Soszynski.

Round 2

There's the bell and round number two begins! An exchange of strikes goes nowhere. Perosh slips out of the way of a massive overhand right. A showdown where they both exchange strikes only results in a stalemate. In close proximity from the strikes they threw, they fall into a messy clinch. Perosh is looking to muscle Soszynski back against the cage. He does so, and now has Soszynski pinned to the cage. Showing good control, Perosh keeps Soszynski stuck against the cage and hits him with short punches to the body for about thirty seconds. Perosh looks for a trip takedown. I think Perosh took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

Round 3

We are back underway! Soszynski counters a left jab with a flurry of jabs and straight punches. Soszynski shoots in for a takedown. Perosh tries to avoid the takedown. Perosh tries to grab a guillotine. A guillotine choke is applied; Soszynski isn't tapping out though! It looks like the choke is not perfectly applied, and that is allowing Soszynski to breathe. The hold is released, Perosh realised that he was gassing his arms on an attempt that wasn't going to finish the fight. We are now at the halfway point of the round. In guard, Soszynski catches his breath, content just to throw a couple of punches to the body. Perosh reaches up and tries to lock up an arm. A kimura attempt almost catches Soszynski, but Perosh eventually has to settle for using it to sweep to side control. We're into the final minute of the round. Perosh attempts to move to mount. Soszynski doesn't let Perosh get the mount, and so he remains at side control. Soszynski tries to transition to a guard, but can't manage it. Krzysztof Soszynski looks like he doesn't have a lot left to give. We reach the time limit and this fight is over.

That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Soszynski.

On his back, Alves watches as Lombard comes in looking to get a dominant ground position. Lombard can't hold Alves down and a scramble starts. The scramble ends with both fighters back on their feet, facing each other. Time expires and we come to the end of round one.

I have to give that round to Lombard, but only a 10-9.

Round 2

We are back underway! It sounded like his corner told Alves to go after Lombard and look to finish it. Alves counters a tight combination by hitting a right head kick that knocks Lombard clean off his feet! Lombard shakes off the cobwebs quickly though, and is alert. Lombard blocks an attempted move from half guard to full guard. We move into the final sixty seconds of this round. Lombard unloads with some big right hands, but Alves deals with them comfortably. Round two is brought to an end as time runs out.

I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Alves.

Round 3

And here we go, round three! Between rounds, his corner told Lombard to watch for strikes but to be aware of takedown opportunities. Lombard grabs a slow leg kick and goes straight for a takedown, done as a judo-style trip, but Alves stuffs it. Lombard feints left, then right. Moving forward, Alves counters a left jab with a vicious leg kick. A flurry of rights and lefts miss, allowing Alves to hit back with a vicious leg kick. A jab misses and Alves counters with a nasty-looking kick to the inside of the left knee. Hector Lombard looks to be limping slightly. It's obvious that Alves has a clear plan to punish the legs. It will cause Lombard to be slower when attempting takedowns, making them much easier to avoid. The time expires on round three, and that is the end of the fight.

I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Alves.

The judges' scores are now being announced. All three judges have scored it 29-28.

The winner, by unanimous decision, is Thiago Alves!
