[Release] 1991: Rising Storms 4.0

Recommended Posts

<p>Match rating doesn't rate the quality of the match in terms of ring work, it rates how the match is rated by the audience watching it. </p><p> </p><p>

Yes, Luger worked better matches than Warrior and his stats reflect that. However, there is no doubt that Warriors matches were much better rated by fans at the time because of his popularity/star quality/charisma and the WWF product. </p><p> </p><p>

And it SHOULD be harder to get Luger over than Warrior. Warrior was way more over than Luger ever was because he was more charismatic, athletic, better star quality, etc. </p><p> </p><p>

Booking Luger well will get him over, but I don't really have a problem with not being able to get him over like Warrior was. He's not nearly the character that Warrior was. </p><p> </p><p>

I have boosted Luger a little for the next release, but it won't be huge.</p>

<p>Just as a follow up, I'm assuming you are playing as WCW in 1991?</p><p> </p><p>

Getting Luger over in WCW in 1991 should be hard (in terms of overall popularity). It was hard in Real Life. WCW struggled to get anyone over really outside of Flair and Sting on a big level. </p><p> </p><p>

Getting Luger over in the WWF isn't all that easy either. He did struggle to get over in real life after all.</p>

I'm playing as WWF and I think his contract came up in October in which I outbid WCW with him. He put on a crap match on Superstars and a crap angle the next one, comprehensive test, got him for roids, and dumped him.

You make fair points. I guess just in comparison to some other workers that can put on great matches, Luger seems pretty low.

Bryan Clark

Brian Adams

Earthquake

Typhoon

48 year old Harley Race

Jim Neidhart

Sycho Sid

Just to name a few I can get a better match out of. Maybe I just got unlucky with Luger's destiny roll and/or these guys got a better roll.

The bolded part is most likely what may have happened, Luger getting bit with a bad destiny roll. And justtxyank makes a great point on when Luger had his best matches, with said matches having very talented workers to help carry him to great matches. I do recall seeing him throw his share of air punches that opponents sold anyway, lol.

For some of them it may be popularity.</p>

Sid should be stupid easy to get over in a sports entertainment company. He's charismatic and oozes menace and star quality. He just has the look. Clark and Adams are big bad asses who were fairly good brawlers and in Clark's case, he was fairly agile and pretty quick on his feet. Earthquake was a terrible underrated big man. Race is well, Harley Race. Nothing needs to be said. Neidhart at this point isn't in his prime any longer, but he's still a good worker.</p>

You're a golden god, sir. I turned him face and broke him away from Bearer to "un-gimmick" the whole act a little and build Taker as my next big babyface behind Hogan. I always liked the picture because he's still so young but looks a little less "spooky deadman" and more cool gothic hero.

Found a great Pillman pic... any chance of another cut? :)

Not sure where justtxyank is these days, so I hope he doesn't mind me cutting these. If he wants to cut his own, he's more than welcome to. ^_^

Anywho:

I saved them as Nikita Koloff 1, Ivan Koloff 1 and Brian Pillman 12 and they have been included in my Risky Business picture pack.

I have this one. Will that work? Better picture in my opinion.<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/433157304_Nailz1.jpg.5850e030345824d1fbd0ff88f5bf187f.jpg" data-fileid="2793" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img data-fileid="2793" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="433157304_Nailz1.jpg.5850e030345824d1fbd0ff88f5bf187f.jpg" data-src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/433157304_Nailz1.jpg.5850e030345824d1fbd0ff88f5bf187f.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a></p>

  • 1 month later...

So I have went through every available mod on the board from '83 until '94 and I can't find either of these guys under any name in a single database.

In 92 and 93 Doug Stahl and A.J. Petrucci worked in ECW as The Super Destroyers. They were in fact the longest reigning ECW Tag Champs for quite a long time.

There is either confusion on my behalf and I'm just not looking under the right name or there is confusion from their team name being the Super Destroyers and of course "Wild" Bill Irwin is part of the more recognized Super Destroyers. maybe people saw Super Destroyers and assumed it was Young and Irwin. Either way does anyone have any information on these guys? Or does anyone know of a mod they are included in. To be the longest reigning ECW champs, two time champions at that and not be included in any mods seems like I'm just not seeing them somewhere. Any help from anybody would be appreciated. I posted it here since it seemed like either this or the '94 thread would be my best bets since they achieved most of their success in '92 and '93.
