I'd like to nominate "RW: WWE THREE Brands". I'm quite impressed by the amount of work that goes into it, how frequently it's updated and how far it's come in a year's time. You'd think the amount of work put into it would slow Lloyd down but apparently not

Captain2's new diary is worth a look. He's already got some regular followers but he deserves some more, so hopefully this nomination will help with that. His WWE began way back in 1996, and his diary began in January 2004!! We have just reached April 2004 (Backlash) and it's awesome... Adding on to the NYCW diary that has already been nominated I would like to nominate another NYCW diary. My nomination goes to this NYCW Diary. I really like how simplistic yet in-depth the diary actually is. I have much sympathy for how the gameworld has planned out for TCP1 as it seems everytime he gets someone over they get poached by a national company! Now is really a pivotal time for TCP1 as it seems he really needs to reach cult soon or he'll be faced with the daunting task of all of his upper midcard talent being poached away! Get job TCP1 and it's a read that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone!

After some debate I think I am going to not make a C-verse mod this time around, but use it for a second mod nomination.

That one will go to CHIKARA 2001: Here Comes the Fun by Bwahaha.

It is like a strange alternate universe Chikara that still seems to have the same ideals and gimmicks, but a vastly different roster. The first show was a good, fun read and things can only get better.

WWE: New School by christmas_ape for Mod DOTM. He's mastered the TEW storytelling type of diary. Intriguing use of graphics and polls, not to mention a great story going on as he moves deeper into year 2. Plus his promo writing is excellent.

World War III 1995 in WCW '94: War of the Thrones by Beejus for Monthly Spotlight. I was torn between this and WrestleFest in TFC's diary, but the great WWIII writeup really won me over. A great showing and a great ending, and Beejus continues to make his diary fresh and exciting.

I'd like to nominate Occasional_Z and Jongredic's DIW: Worlds Apart for the CornellVerse Diary of the Month. I love 2-player dynasties in general and in particular the alternate universe concept. The dialogue and format are simple but great, and the updates are frequent. Both players do a superb job of writing from the promoters' point-of-view on each match, and that each author writes the promoter similar enough that the same character inhabits both universes.

WCW: The Quest For The Lost Glory gets another nomination from me this month, as Starrcade was a great show that kept me on edge for the whole main event especially.

WWF: The Golden Age...and beyond? gets my second nomination, for continued excellence.

That excellence especially shown in my monthly spotlight nomination, WWF WrestlFest. TFC brings an unpredictable show (proven by how bad most people did on predictions!) that offered up amazing matches, both in-game rating and in writing.

I have an odd question, what is the point of rule twelve if there is no longer a Rookie Vote? I mean I understand the reason before was because you could not nominate people who are in the Hall of Fame in the Rookie Category but now it no longer matters. Heck number twelve is not even an actual rule it is just a list of usernames.

It's a list of people who everyone here voted into the Hall of Fame of Diary Writers here on this board. However, you are right that, because there is no Rookie Vote right now, the list of Hall of Famers is not relevant in that respect. I do a lot of copy/paste each month in putting the post with the rules together. That is why the list of Hall of Famers is put up there each month.

But this brings up another interesting subject. At first, I did not have a rookie vote up there because it was the beginning of the new game. What does everyone think of bringing back the Rookie Vote next month?

I don't see why not. It has been a solid Year+ and there are new people getting into writing diaries from time to time. Really you are the one that keeps track of everything so as long as you are comfortable with adding and keeping track of another category then why not?

The reason is if a writer with an audience had decided to do a diary again then they would always beat an actual "Rookie" diary for the most part.

You have a point. When someone first starts, it logically takes time for them to build up a reader base. Someone who's already had successful diaries in the past and has an established reader base who will be quick to follow any new projects is going to have a built-in advantage over a true "rookie." The exclusion of any Hall of Famers from the rookie category does help offset that somewhat, though.

It's your call, angel. I'm unsure of how many new diaries tend to pop up from month to month, because I don't really pay attention to that sort of thing. But if you think there are enough from month to month to justify bringing it back, I don't see any problem with doing so.

To be fair, it's kind of hard to define a 'rookie' to any reasonable degree. I've just started a new diary after tanking one a few years ago, but I've been foraging around the forums and avidly reading stuff here for... a lot longer than that. Am I really a 'rookie'? Compared to someone who's walked into the boards for the first time after buying TEW<x> and gone 'oh, this dynasty thing looks sweet, I'm'a try that'..... No. Really, no. But some would doubtless say I am.

I use myself as an example because I'd feel like a scrub and a half if I walked away with even a nomination in that category. But that's because of how I define a rookie. You could similarly argue that if the person in the second example was a published novelist, how 'rookie' are they likely to be compared to--

Well, it just goes on forever. I'd probably leave it as it is, personally.

I'd been on the board a few years before my first diary but still got nominated to the RDOTM. If I recall the person nominating me mentioned in the post that it seemed odd nomiating a veteran like me, but it was my first diary, so I can see both side of the arguement.

I suppose I also feel that if a dynasty's good, it's good, regardless of how experienced the person writing it is! Having a rookie category feels, to me, like saying that a fresher perspective is always going to be less worthy to some degree. Looking at the dynasties nominated this month, it's clear to me that there ARE no set rules on how one should go about rocking this thang, and if someone comes out of left field with a great idea...

Well, who cares if they're a newbie or a vet? And if it was me having that amazing idea (spoiler: it won't be) then I'd feel pretty slighted being nominated for the 'lesser' category. I dunno. Maybe it's the martial artist in me.

That said, I would also have no hesitation in voting for a 'rookie's dynasty if I felt it brought something exciting and unique. Hell, that's bonus points in my book; enough to ignore a few flaws and bump them past even an awesome vet who's going by a tried-and-tested formula. Just my... thirty seven cents.

Like to offer a belated thanks to everyone who voted for my MPWF dynasty last month. Due to getting married in two weeks, I obviously haven't had time to really write, but expect it back sometime after that.

For my nominations...

CVERSE

My vote goes to Eisen-verse's SWF: Where Men Become LEGENDS. Sure, he's won multiple times, but his recent efforts have been particularly strong and interesting. From Vengeance to Rich Money to The Trinity, he's made the most of all of SWF's characters (and the newcomers).

MOD

I have to nominate Ritchardo's JCP 1988 - The Alliance Fights Back for Mod DOTM. Booking the Lethal Lottery must have been a challenge, but he's managed to keep up his one major storyline (Horsemen Civil War) while using the Lottery concept to its advantage.

SPOTLIGHT

For my Spotlight nomination, I'm going to go with the relationship between Richie Steamboat, Charlotte, and Ric Flair in 20Legend's NXT: New School. It takes a very common issue (Dad doesn't like jerk boyfriend), while referencing the old Steamboat-Flair dynamic from back in the day.

Congratulations smwilliams! Enjoy it, it's one of the best things you'll ever do.

I gotta nominate a diary recommended to me by my 'associate' Jongredic...making me laugh in work is always worthy of a nomination

Praguepride Awesome to the Max!!! - C-verse 97

Looking forward to reading more of this! Dunno if it counts as C-Verse or Mod catergory, but either is fine.

I think I won ROTM once for one of my diaries and it was not my first diary, I think it was for my second and I am pretty sure it was because people already knew who I was. I remember thinking that it was sort of a cheap victory because I am not sure I would have won if people had not already read my stuff before. That was why I refused nomination when I first started to do my now defunct SWF diary.

That being said it is very tough to define what an actual Rookie is. If I had to say, I would say there should be a rule that anyone who has won DOTM in either category before should not be allowed nomination. The thing with that is you then may not have enough to run every month.

I don't know it is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of things.
