PREVIEW: NYCW KING OF NEW YORK!

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NYCW_14/NYCW.jpg

It is time for the second New York City Wrestling show under the leadership of Jack Bruce and what a show he has lined up for the fans in The Ministry. This show introduces what Jack Bruce is calling the King Of New York Tournament. The winner will receive a future NYCW Empire Title shot at his own discretion, meaning that he can hand in his NYCW King Of New York Title at any point during a NYCW wrestling show and fight the Champion. Eight men will be involved in this tournament setting, including Andrew Harper, Honest Frank, KC Glenn, Dermot O'Logical, Bulldozer Brandon Smith, Whistler, Sammy The Shark and Geoff Borne. Which wrestler will come out on top and earn a NYCW Empire title shot? The only way to find out is to be there!

But the tournament matches are not the only matches that will be held on this card. There will also be a rematch for the NYCW Tag Team Titles as The Ring Generals defend those belts against the team that took them to a Double Disqualification last month: Old School Principals. After the fight that they had last month, which will be the team that steps away with the tag team title gold? Both of these two teams are the top two teams right now in NYCW. And last month the new unit known as America's Most Wanted got themselves involved after the match. Will they play a part during the match this month?

Finally, there will also be a defense of the NYCW Empire title as Roger Cage steps into the ring against Black Hat Bailey. Both of these two wrestlers know each other very well. They have wrestled numerous times since both were here in New York City Wrestling. Can Black Hat Bailey be the man who dethrones Roger Cage as the NYCW Empire Champion? Or will Roger Cage continue his title run that began in December of last year? Only the match itself will tell. So make sure you are there inside The Ministry. Tickets are going fast!

Of course there will be appearances by Jack Bruce and the new unit known as America's Most Wanted. What effect will either of these men have on the outcomes of the matches?

<p>Looking good, Angel. Really excited to see you tackle something other than USPW; having new characters has already brought out some fun stuff. <strong>Roger Cage</strong> defends vs. Black Hat Bailey</p><p>

<em>Comments: I think Cage gets a pretty long look as your top guy unless SWF comes calling and with good reason. In a lot of ways, I imagine him being like an modern Adam Cole-in-ROH type. He's also doing well as their champion.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Andrew Harper vs. <strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Smith is one of your top guys, while Harper certainly isn´t, at least not for a little while.</em></p><p> </p><p>

First Round Of NYCW King Of New York Tournament</p><p>

<strong>Honest Frank</strong> vs. Whistler</p><p>

Comments: <em>Frank is probably the best starting heel you got so he´s pretty much always a contender and we need heel to advance here anyway.</em></p><p> </p><p>

First Round Of NYCW King Of New York Tournament</p><p>

<strong>KC Glenn</strong> vs. Sammy The Shark</p><p>

Comments: <em>With Glenn and Keith´s going straight after Cage (and Ring Generals but that´s a differend story) I assume that you plan to put Glenn straight into Empire Title hunt and if that is the case, then he should go over Sammy here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

First Round Of NYCW King Of New York Tournament</p><p>

Dermot O'Logical vs. <strong>Geoff Borne</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>I would normally pick Dermot here (as I did last month) but since I had Glenn advance, I need Borne to get forward here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

NYCW Tag Team Titles Match</p><p>

<strong>The Ring Generals</strong> defend vs. Old School Principals</p><p>

Comments: <em>Keith twins are likely challenging for the belts soon since they assaulted Ring Generals on last show and in that case Generals will retain here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Semifinals Of King Of New York Tournament</p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs. Honest Frank</p><p>

Comments: <em>Looking at the name list for the tournament, I would have expected this to be the finals but since I don´t see Borne getting into finals, I will pick Smith here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Semifinals Of King Of New York Tournament</p><p>

<strong>KC Glenn</strong> vs. Geoff Borne</p><p>

Comments: <em>Not much question on this one.</em></p><p> </p><p>

NYCW Empire Title Match</p><p>

<strong>Roger Cage</strong> defends vs. Black Hat Bailey</p><p>

Comments: <em>I do like Bailey but he´s over 50 at this point so I doubt you will put the belt on him.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Finals Of King Of New York Tournament</p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs. KC Glenn</p><p>

Comments: <em>With both the champ and Bruce being faces, heel winning this one would make more sense on my opinion, but I think that Glenn has already made quite an impression just by getting into finals and since Bulldozer likely has more popularity at this point, I would personally have him win this one in fear of hurting his popularity if he loses. Either way, this match should deliver really well and these two will liekly have many battles at the top of NYCW assuming that neither gets stolen away.</em></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the predictions so far. I do really love this feedback. It is something that definitely goes into the creation of each show. I am sure that I can speak for the diary writers here when I say that the comments, the predictions and everything else that we receive here on the board are amazing. I feel lucky to simply be a part of such an active and vibrant community. Now on to some comments...</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Kitarzu" data-cite="Kitarzu" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38034" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Don't Stop Brucelivin'</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">I have to say that I cracked up at this one. First of all, it's great to see you here predicting NoNeck. It put a smile on my face when I saw your name pop up there because of the respect that I have for you as a fellow writer. Moving to another promotion is definitely like a breath of fresh air. I can come up with all kinds of new gimmicks and fun little parts of the show that I could not do with USPW. Since we are a small promotion, all things will have to happen in front of the crowd. We cannot afford a big video screen like the larger promotions have.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> Dozer is definitely going to be one of the key players moving forward. He is definitely someone that I can get behind. The fact that he is young and talented? Well, that just makes my job that much easier.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> As far as the Alpha Motel Whiskey thing, I actually just threw that in there as kind of a nod to the real life Shield. Before their music starts, you have Shield spelled out in phonetics, so I just did the three initals of America's Most Wanted since it would take awhile to spell out the whole thing phonetically. lol. But that is a very interesting idea and something that I will definitely take into consideration going forward. And in case anyone is interested, the name came from the talk in the Diary Preview And Questions Thread where it's being talked about that they are part of who everyone hires immediately. Thus making them America's Most Wanted.</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Zergon" data-cite="Zergon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38034" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Andrew Harper vs. <strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong></p><p> Comments: <em>Smith is one of your top guys, while Harper certainly isn´t, at least not for a little while.</em></p><p> </p><p> First Round Of NYCW King Of New York Tournament</p><p> <strong>KC Glenn</strong> vs. Sammy The Shark</p><p> Comments: <em>With Glenn and Keith´s going straight after Cage (and Ring Generals but that´s a differend story) I assume that you plan to put Glenn straight into Empire Title hunt and if that is the case, then he should go over Sammy here.</em></p><p> </p><p> Finals Of King Of New York Tournament</p><p> <strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs. KC Glenn</p><p> Comments: <em>With both the champ and Bruce being faces, heel winning this one would make more sense on my opinion, but I think that Glenn has already made quite an impression just by getting into finals and since Bulldozer likely has more popularity at this point, I would personally have him win this one in fear of hurting his popularity if he loses. We'll start with the Andrew Harper situation. Reading his biography in the game, it talks about that he has started powerbombing his opponents through tables usually post-match. So he definitely has an interesting gimmick even going into the game. I am hoping to be able to flesh him out a little bit, as well as a lot of the wrestlers here in NYCW.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> Then there's the big debut of America's Most Wanted. Of course, above, I explained where the name came from and there is the obvious Shield comparison. These are definitely three talented wrestlers looking to make an impact. And what bigger impact would they have than going after the tag team champs and the Empire champ? There is definitely an overness difference between Matthew Keith and Greg Gauge that I noticed after I hired both of them and Matthew became a main eventer and Greg became an opener with the Auto-Push. Will they be in the race for the belts? Of course. I think I would be crazy not to put those talented wrestlers there. It's when they are able to push to the head of the line to get those shots that will be the question.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';"> Thank you, everyone, for the comments and predictions so far! I know the diary is really just getting started but I am enjoying both playing the game and the diary itself. So this is one I am looking for long-term.</span></p>

With the take-over by the Investors and Jack Bruce, we have learned that there are going to be new traditions that take place before each and every New York City Wrestling show at The Ministry. In a press release, Jack Bruce has stated that he wants to make each and every NYCW show unique. It is one reason for the King Of New York tournament which, he says, will be a yearly fixture in February.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

The first of these pre-show rituals will be an Eating Contest Featuring Devastating Don. The very first of these Eating Contests, at NYCW King Of New York, will be a Hot Dog Eating Contest. Three fans will be chosen at random to see if they can eat more hot dogs than Devastating Don. If any of the fans are able to do so then they will receive a backstage pass and a chance to meet all of the NYCW wrestlers.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

The second of these pre-show features will be an autograph signing. Fans will need to show up two hours before bell-time and get in line as NYCW wrestlers will do their best to sign as many autographs as they can during this time. The first autograph session will have The Southern Stars, Man Mountain Cahill and the main event session with Jack Bruce himself. </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

According to the press release, these two sessions are two of the many things that NYCW will be doing for their fans to show recognition of how grateful they are to everyone who shows up. We are very proud to have some very loyal fans. It makes all the difference in the world.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

A few comments here. We'll start with the Andrew Harper situation. Reading his biography in the game, it talks about that he has started powerbombing his opponents through tables usually post-match. So he definitely has an interesting gimmick even going into the game. I am hoping to be able to flesh him out a little bit, as well as a lot of the wrestlers here in NYCW.

Then there's the big debut of America's Most Wanted. It's when they are able to push to the head of the line to get those shots that will be the question.

I have to admit that I haven´t played much with 2014 setting myself and while I did check the popularity for everyone on the starting roster plus Glenn, I didn´t check the popularity of Matthew Keith and Greg Gauge assuming that they would be around E both so yeah, I was surprised about the disparity these two had on popularity and didn´t know that when making my picks. Actually that difference might help you too since you can easily put them over almost anyone thanks to Matthew´s high popularity while Greg can take the falls when they should be losing, at least as long as it takes from Greg to rise around similar level of popularity which might not be long espesially if they have few matches with Bruce along the way.

As for Harper, me saying that he isn´t a top guy was mainly based on the popularity level he starts with. That said he can become bigger player quite quickly if booked right, I remember one diary (Voeltzwagon diary to be more precise) were he was paired with Monty as a henchman for Honest Frank and it didn´t take long for me to consider them as real threats even to top guys like Smith.

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NYCW_14/NYCW.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

We have a brand new King Of New York! That man is Bulldozer Brandon Smith. He receives the opportunity to fight for the Empire title any time that he chooses to. He could cash his title match in right here at NYCW Maximum Showdown if he wants. Though he might not be in the right shape to do that as he is going to be in action, facing his nemesis Andrew Harper in a Tables match! Harper has already put the Bulldozer through a table once before. Can he do it in the confines of a match this time?</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

We have a match here at NYCW that has been two months in the making. Ever since the arrival of America's Most Wanted here in NYCW, they have been making big names for themselves by teaming up and using the numbers game to overwhelm their foes. This time might be different because this time the numbers game is even. We will be having a six man tag team event as America's Most Wanted step into the ring against the team of Jack Bruce and the NYCW Tag Team Champions The Ring Generals! A win by America's Most Wanted would definitely put them in tag team title and Empire title contention. But can anyone here in NYCW beat Jack Bruce?</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

The NYCW Empire title will be defended one more time when Roger Cage steps into the ring against the former Empire Champion Man Mountain Cahill. This is Cahill's last chance to regain the gold from Roger Cage. Can the large man step in and take the title away from The Smooth wrestler or will Roger Cage slip through Cahill's defense's and once again defeat him when the title is on the line?</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

Speaking of title matches, we have another match here that will determine the next challenger for the NYCW Empire title. That match features two rivals in the form of Honest Frank and Steve Flash. Both of these men are veterans and this is Flash's first match after coming back from a knee injury. Does Flash have what it takes to beat Frank when number one contendership is on the line?</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

Two more matches have title implications. In one month, Animal Harker will be scheduled to defend his NYCW Tri-State Regional Title against not one but two men in a three way dance elimination style match. Those two men will be the winners of two matches on NYCW Maximum Showdown this month. Those two matches pit Dermot O'Logical against Sammy The Shark and Monty Trescarde versus Whistler. All four men have privately expressed an interest in wearing the prestigious title belt. Who will move on to the match next month?</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

Finally, NYCW will play host to several Confederation of the Territories matches set up by the alliance group. The kickoff match to NYCW Maximum Showdown will be FCW Owner and Puerto Rican Superstar Puerto Rican Power going against PSW Champion Greg Black. Both of these men are amazing wrestlers and top wrestlers in their own promotions. They come to NYCW and The Ministry to show off their skills. Another match set up by the Confederation of the Territories will be our very own Old School Principals taking on the CZCW Coastal Tag Team Champions known as Flash Sparrow. The American Flash and Matt Sparrow enter New York and the Ministry. Who will walk out?</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

<p>COTT Sponsored Match</p><p>

<strong>Greg Black</strong> vs. Puerto Rican Power</p><p>

Comments: <em>This is pretty much just personal preference pick.</em></p><p> </p><p>

COTT Sponsored Match</p><p>

<strong>Old School Principals</strong> vs. Flash Sparrow</p><p>

Comments: <em>I usually prefer to give wins for my own guys on this type of matches as giving the visitors a win wouldn´t help you at all so Old School takes this one to bounce back after their losses to Ring Generals.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Tables Match</p><p>

Andrew Harper vs. <strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>I guess this would be Harper´s speciality so he should have higher change of winning than normally. That said, I still don´t see him actually getting a win here mostly because of popularity difference on Smith´s favor.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Winner Moves On To NYCW Tri-State Regional Three-Way Dance Next Month</p><p>

Dermot O'Logical vs. <strong>Sammy The Shark</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Sammy is probably my favorite wrestler in NYCW while Dermot is the one I like least so this is bit of a no-brainer to me. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Winner Moves On To NYCW Tri-State Regional Three-Way Dance Next Month</p><p>

Monty Trescarde vs. <strong>Whistler</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Hhmmm this is actually a tough one as while Whister is more popular, he´s surely on time decline and did have pretty bad match with Frank which kind of informs me that he´s not going to get all that great ratings anymore and should be putting over younger talent as a result. Then again, while Monty is certainly the more usuful guy going forward, he haven´t done much for first two shows and so I´m not sure if you have plans for him and so don´t know if he´s the guy you would like to go over Whistler.... No, I go with Whistler because of that popularity difference and because guys like Glenn or Harper would also benefit going over Whistler and both seems to be higher priority than Monty at the moment. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Winner Faces NYCW Empire Champion Next Month</p><p>

Honest Frank vs. Steve Flash</p><p>

Comments: <em>This could easily go either way and while Frank would be the logical choice with face champ, I´m going to take a risk and say that this will end on a draw, leading to three man title match next month.</em></p><p> </p><p>

NYCW Empire Title Match</p><p>

<strong>Roger Cage</strong> defends vs. Man Mountain Cahill</p><p>

Comments: <em>I still don´t see Cahill being good champ so I go with Cage again.</em></p><p> </p><p>

America's Most Wanted (KC Glenn, Matthew Keith and Greg Keith) vs. <strong>Jack Bruce and The Ring Generals</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>This is a match were Bruce could lose since he don´t need to get pinned himself but I doubt it happens as face side just have more popularity and the heels (or at least Greg and likely Glenn too) should gain few popularity points just by losing.</em></p>

Here at Promotion Wars, we are very proud to make the announcement that we will be having an in-depth interview with NYCW owner Jack Bruce following this month's NYCW Maximum Showdown.
