Would keep Hammer off TV, but as MJ says, there is definitely a use for him. If he's putting someone over in a dark match and helping them learn better Psychology and Basics, there's value in that. Yeah, his Time Decline will mean the match grade is a solid grade below what it could be, but that won't hurt the popularity or momentum of the younger worker much, not unless you are doing the same match week after week.

Looking for tag chemistry is a nice thought. You can save yourself that effort by bringing in his tag partner. Who is likely going to be just as far into decline, but the tag experience compensates for that somewhat.

After seeing his matches, I have concluded that Hammer is perfect for TV for everything BUT singles matches.

84 microphone, 91 charisma, 75 acting means he's an awesome mouthpiece in segments and can pull a good rating via entertainment skills. And of course his basics and psychology means anyone fighting with or against him will learn something off of him.

On his own he's useless in matches, but like I did if you team him up with some up and comer and have him team and manage the kid he'll be able to pick up a lot of good things.

Hammer is arguably the best speaker in CWT other than Ghost Rider.

You could even use him as a pop machine by putting him on the third seat in commentary and cause him to run up his popularity before rubbing it off on someone younger.

And finally you can make him a road agent. He'll be better and cheaper than Stacey Kirkwood.

I find Hammer to be one of the best all-round useful workers despite his geriatric age.

<p>After 2 years of game time I finally reached National with AWF. It was quite a challenge and I am sure I did my share of mistakes but in the end I think having great and long storylines as well as protecting a set number of faces and heels was the key to success.</p><p> </p><p>

These are my top 5 faces and heels:</p><p> </p><p>

Top 5 Faces</p><p>

1. Timothy Hawk</p><p>

2. Cross</p><p>

3. Talon</p><p>

4. Cloud James</p><p>

5. Immortal Warrior</p><p> </p><p>

Top 5 Heels</p><p>

1. Nick Hart (Current World Champ)</p><p>

2. The Ghost Rider</p><p>

3. Alberto Marchena Jr. (Current US Champ)</p><p>

4. Jean-Claude Giroux</p><p>

5. Johnny Hollywood</p>

<p>Nice work, Skywalker. </p><p> </p><p>

Stole Talon from PWI? Or are you on the earlier 2014 data where he wasn't on a Written deal yet? I saw him end up as one of the top 5 workers in the world on one watcher game. Immense potential.</p>

Go Takashi is one of my PWI favorites, and one of the reasons that I keep getting tempted to give another PWI game a try. Just something about the dynamic of a Japanese HW becoming a star in the US that appeals to me. </p><p> </p><p> How is Nick Hart doing for you as champ?</p>

<p>Just continuing with the CWT love here. I think thy are the promotion for me in the TVerse. I have dabbled throughout and created my own promotion on multiple occasions but CWT is one I am really comfortable with.</p><p> </p><p>

I have written up a couple of TV's and the Hot August Night's show so might post them in the Dynasty section, not 100% yet though as I can't write up a match for toffee and I am not certain on angle writing style yet (e.g. write as the character or from a third person perspective, currently using the latter).</p><p> </p><p>

Having a good time with it though and it is easy to go back to, there is a real challenge in the main event scene trying to make The Ghost Rider a major threat again and having Big Bubba as a believable champion. I was hoping to get Cloud James back from the off but it wasn't happening so it's really down to working with the tools that you have.</p><p> </p><p>

Ideally, I like to have actual characters and personalities in my games so reduces the realism down 1 and it has helped a lot. If anyone wants to play the TVerse but feels they will be a bit overwhelmed learning a new database from scratch, this would be the company I recommend.</p>

You don't need to write a 500 word story about an opening match, just get across what in your eyes was important about said match.</p><p> </p><p> Angle writing styles again, best to write from third person. <p>Its awesome to find that one promotion you connect with. I find it to be that way for me with the AWF. I've tried other promotions but nothing quite connects. I've tried PWI, checked CWT, and toyed with Dragon. Keep coming back to the AWF, though. </p><p> </p><p>

I love the idea of CWT. I just picture this modern version of Mid Atlantic Wrestling from the early 80s. But with the current state of the company, I feel like it needs a bit too much work for my tastes. </p><p> </p><p>

As for a diary, de knegt makes some good points - there really isn't a "right" approach. Its just a matter of finding what is the right fit for you as a writer/storyteller. The nice thing about a Tverse diary is that you have an automatic reader base with the Tverse enthusiasts on the board. </p><p> </p><p>

A few other thoughts on diaries.... Graphics are optional - most readers like them, but you can still attract an audience without. Match write-ups can be as simple as a description. just one sentence. They do not need to be move-by-move breakdowns. Many of us aren't effective at doing a match in that depth and detail. Same with promos and angles. I don't do full show projects much anymore, but when I do, I usually start with a one line description and then fill it in from there. It doesn't take a ton to make a short paragraph that gives the reader enough detail to understand what you are trying to get across.</p>

Who are pushing in your AWF games? Any surprising champions?

Nothing yet. I just got a new game started, a couple of weeks in with some decent show grades, then got distracted by a combination of Dragon and toying with a 2001 WCW Survives RW mod, and when I came back, I decided to start over. Signed a few too many developmental workers. So just started the new game last night and it typically takes me a few hours to get to the point of booking the first show. So its plans, not stuff I've done.

I'm sticking with the main storylines for now, plus a couple more. Adding Giroux versus Immortal Warrior, a tag feud, and possibly switching Nick Hart into the Patriot-Cross feud.

The world title four way will remain for some time, but the focus will be on Hawk and Drake. The hope is that they can carry strong angle grades and strong match grades, helping out the other two. Hawk has often gained popularity quite quickly and easily in past games, so I'm hoping I can get him up to A* popularity with a long reign. The challenge after that then becomes getting someone else close to that so he can drop the belt eventually. Garrett South is a favorite and I like to use him a Stone Cold type of way. He doesn't really belong at the top just yet, and his grades will reflect that. So I'm playing on that, having him be an obvious outsider, trying to push his way into the world title scene that he doesn't really belong in yet. So he'll interfere in matches and angles, show up at ringside, and basically be a nuisance who doesn't give a damn. A la Austin in 1996 and 1997. He won't get a one-on-one shot for a long time, which gives plenty of time to build his skills and popularity.

An idea I was going to use in my AWF diary is to have Giroux form a stable. He starts by aligning with Nikita (whom he seduces) and Mountain Albert (whom he probably doesn't seduce). After a team, Giroux will convince South to join the Aces. But after a time, South will get screwed out of a world title shot by Giroux, sending him on a rampage of wanton destruction. That will take months and should build him up to a level where he might be able to win the belt from Hawk by sometime in 2015.

The only area where I'm still debating a bit - and I think I talked about this recently either in here or the other ThunderVerse thread - is the dynamic between Prophesy and Casey Skym. Running with Prophesy coming in to be the on screen authority figure for Dax Deekins, where as Casey Skym represents the Trillion vision. It sorta works. Just not sure where I want to go with dueling authority figures.

<p>Trying to get back into TEW and thus obviously ThunderVerse but I'm not sure which company to take. I had a AWF file back in the previous patches where I was close to reaching National in January of 2015. It was a very fun file with the last show of the year Where Champions Clash, also featuring my best match Timothy Hawk vs. Cross (93).</p><p> </p><p>

I don't think I'll go back to AWF since I'd like to try something different. The Club has potential to be a sort of Lucha Underground type show but it seems like a hard company to book. PWI's already the best in the world so I don't have any interest there. HCW sounds like a fun one to do though I feel like I should do WCCW in that case instead to represent canada. Dragon Pro and GWS are other possibilities in America. I wouldn't mind doing a small indy.</p><p> </p><p>

GNW and WCCW are both good opportunities in Canada. I think I'd run WCCW less continuity based more episodic since it's only monthly shows.</p><p> </p><p>

No interest in Mexico or Lucharesu. Not got much interest in Britain/Europe/Australia.</p><p> </p><p>

All the Japanese companies sound interesting too bar Joshi & LETHAL. (I think you may notice that I don't really have much interest in Hardcore or women's wrestling, at least not right now). So it's really down to Japan/Canada/USA. Not sure which company though.</p>

But your description of seeking out GAW talent fits the TNA approach pretty well. Looking at their current roster, even now.</p><p> </p><p> Jon, I can suggest one that thing that has worked for me. Depending on how you approach fictional companies and workers, it may not make a difference. Personally, I usually connect a company to a real company. It helps me get a feel for how the shows would look, feel, flow, etc. It might just be me, but I find I connect with a company much better when I have that real feel for them. Its the same thing with workers, and I will often find a real worker to link them to so that I can more easily conceive of what their in-ring work looks like, how do their promos flow, etc. Its a process that stems out of diary writing but I do it for most games as it helps keep them from becoming "input-output" processes. </p><p> </p><p> An easy example would be connecting the AWF to the Attitude Era. The product fits fairly close. You can easily book them as a slightly less crash TV version of the 1997-1998 WWF. Or even the post-Attitude Era. But switching it up to being a variation on some mid-90s point of WCW, or even a better version of TNA, could make for a very different game.</p><p> </p><p> Changing the way you approach workers can also help. Maybe Timothy Hawk doesn't do much for you if you use him akin to Hulk Hogan or John Cena. But make him a Diamond Dallas Page with a better look, or Steve Austin minus the attitude, and it can alter how you use him significantly. It opens up story possibilities that you may not see.</p><p> </p><p> Changing up how I look at and use workers is something I've done a few times and it can really fresh things. It makes a game with the same company, same roster, etc, feel unique compared to the previous one.</p>
