What is the ThunderVerse?

The ThunderVerse is a fan-made mod for TEW 2013. It is the first fan made mod to get the GDS and Adam Ryland "Seal of Approval".

The TVerse is similar to the CornellVerse in the sense that it is a fictional universe that offers a wide diversity of options - whether its a small American comedy promotion (POW), Canadian hardcore (MHR), or traditional British mat grappling (GBWF). There are 43 starting promotions, with at least 3 promotions open in every region. And almost as many promotions yet to open. The talent to choose from is significant and equally diverse, with 2299 workers available from the start of a game.

There have already been some great TVerse diary projects, but there is endless space left for your own interpretation of a given promotion or worker.

Versions

The most recent version is the ThunderVerse 2014 Platinum 1.3, which can be downloaded from the above link. As the universe has expanded and grown through the releases, earlier versions are smaller and less diverse.

There is the LotharioVerse, which is a fun "what if" take on the universe's canon.

And very exciting for any TVerse enthusiast, ThunderVerse Vice is a forth-coming historical edition of the mod set in 1980.

Alts

One of the most interesting aspects of the ThunderVerse. The uniformity of the worker images makes modding them much easier (according to those capable of doing it, anyway) and there is already a huge diversity of alt images available. Plus a crew of artists who are always willing to crank out some new awesome ones upon request.

Beyond that, the mod features some innovative graphics aspects, such as title belt and stable logo overlays, to further customize your visual experience.

<p>The AWF are my ThunderVerse favorite. They are a very fun promotion, given the talent they already and the diversity of talent you can build up. But they aren't as quick to get to national as they might seem. </p><p> </p><p>

A couple of suggestions...</p><p> </p><p>

-spam your top guys. At the start that means Hawk, Richards, Giroux, and to a slightly lesser extent, Dolla. They should have angles on every show. They pull grades so use that to your advantage. Be willing to put them in matches on TV, but protect them to keep their momentum up. Now that means sacrificing your upper mid and midcard to a degree. They are going to be sacrificed somewhat and they won't be on TV as much (especially the midcarders). You can likely build up one guy at a time toward the top, but trying to do it with several really isn't workable with this approach. </p><p> </p><p>

-look to get onto a bigger PPV network when you can. </p><p> </p><p>

-find ways to use Skym and Prophesy to maximum effect. They both deliver hugely on the mic. </p><p> </p><p>

-minimize the on-screen time of the Starlets. Sucks if you like the ladies wrestling, but none of them deliver to a real degree. </p><p> </p><p>

-if its one or two regions that are going slow, trying running non-televised, non-PPV events there on occasion. Just like a "big" house show, basically.</p>

<p>In my game Estrella Rosa and Jamilia Rose have a string of 80+ matches in GDR, with the last one at 91. Estrella probably doesn't work in the US, I think. Jamilia is much younger with better entertaining skills. If I'm going to give time to the women's division, I'd build it around her.</p><p> </p><p>

I'd also sign Kris Phoenix. I think I've signed him in every game I've played. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I'm still playing as ILL, haven't played in a while. Incognito has been pretty much carrying the company. Lots of young talented workers in that roster, too. My next game will probably be as AWF. </p><p> </p><p>

I can't wait for the ThunderVerse Vice. Btw, is it going to have all the future debuts available as well, right? I'd finally like to get a 20+ years game going.</p>

Its an area where you can be different from PWI. The problem with the Starlets is that they are at a pretty low point to start. In a promotion predicated on popularity, they lack it. None of them are really good in the ring either. So building the division up will take time and focus. Its a fun build. But if someone's primary goal is to hit National, then building the Starlets division can actually slow that a bit, if you really focus on it. </p><p> </p><p> My go-to for building the division around is Jessie Gilmour-Hart. She is extremely talented, great SQ, good Charisma, great looking... Her starting popularity isn't much above, but she should build quickly. There is even the connection with Nick Hart being on the roster now. The only concern is her age, but she should stay active for a long while, especially if you keep the belt on her. My plan in my current AWF game is to have her come in as the manager of Nick, become an active Starlet after a couple of months, and then hold the belt for a long long time. She will pull good match grades once her overness is up and she can help out the rest of the division, both in terms of popularity and skills.</p><p> </p><p> I used to sign Kris Phoenix all the time but don't tend to as much. He's very useful and can fit in nicely with Cross. The likes of Cloud James and Shay Kinsella. James is a potential star, while I view Kinsella as a midcard veteran mainstay. </p><p> </p><p> My problem with the AWF is that I always sign way too much developmental talent. I have ideas for a lot of them, but I need to pick and choose the ones that I really want. Having 80 workers in 3 developmental promotions... overkill. I'm only a couple weeks into my current game and I'm tempted to start over, with fewer developmental signings. At the same time, I've been toying around with Dragon lately, so I might give them a go.</p>

It will also include everyone who was a champion between 1980 and 2014 who is not in Platinum (which amounts to roughly 250 extra workers alone). In fact, for all intents and purposes all champions are in the mod, although there are a handful from the 1950s and 1960s for example who won't be in as they would just be taking up space.</p>

<p>So as I mentioned above, I have an AWF game that I’m only a little bit into. Considering starting over, just because of how many developmental workers I’ve signed. Debating. Having too many workers in development is really only a problem when you keep getting notifications they want to be promoted and/or promote a bunch that you can’t do anything with. </p><p> </p><p>

I have my plans pretty sorted out going forward. The one thing I’m still mulling a bit is the best way to use Casey Skym and Prophesy as dual authority figures. Both can still wrestler, so there is always that road as a possibility. I’m just not sure I love the idea. </p><p> </p><p>

So right now, I’m using Prophesy as the “main” authority figure. He’s Dax Deekin’s guy. He has an agenda, but it’s not really clear what that is just yet. He is in charge, doing chaotic things and cutting cryptic promos – “I am the ghost of wrestling’s past” and “I am the harbinger of wrestling’s future”. For the moment, Skym is “in charge” of very little. Mostly he’s taken to hosting the weekly talk show that used to be done by Johnny Hollywood – and not even getting to rename it – and acting as the moderator of the Starlet’s division. </p><p> </p><p>

I’m just not quite sure where I want to go with it. My instinct is to turn it into a major “civil war” type storyline. Prophesy will represent the Deekins vision for the AWF – flashy, lacking substance, the Hollywood way. This would harken back to the WWWE as its “worst”, ironically represented by Prophesy who avoid those pitfalls in the WWWE. Skym would represent Trillion’s vision of the AWF. Or at least his vision of the AWF’s future. Which is evolving beyond a WWWE clone into something that can stand on its own. The major talent could end up picking sides to some degree – with some representing the flashy vision and some the grittier vision and it could even culminate in a Skym versus Prophesy match. It works, though I don’t know that Trillion’s vision of the AWF is really any different than a WWWE clone anyway. I’m also not sure whether I want to reel the major players into the storyline, but that would be required to really make it feel significant. </p><p> </p><p>

While I might end up going that direction, any other suggestions?</p>

<p>I'm now a couple of months into my first shot at the Thunderverse, playing as CWT. </p><p> </p><p>

Running a one hour show without a PPV deal for my bigger events is something that I have yet to encounter as I've always played as bigger promotions in my other games. It's been a little difficult shifting my focus to having big name matches and title defences taking place on what would usually be "weaker" build cards. </p><p> </p><p>

Current feuds/storylines include:</p><p>

CWT Heavyweight Champion The Ghost Rider against Jack America (user character) and Manu Samoa.</p><p> </p><p>

The ongoing build for my new stable "The Seal of Sanctity", a heel group led by Seven Brandt (next big thing in creative meetings), Bryan Mitchell (repackaged as Big Mitch) and Luke Graves. The latter two have awesome chemistry together as a tag team and will soon get a run against my current tag champs in Bubba Traylor and Smokin' Stevie Gunn. </p><p> </p><p>

Jesse Mills is my current second tier champion, portraying an abusive cult leader who constantly berates and beats down his follower Sonny Parks. </p><p> </p><p>

Excellent feedback so far! A few things from my side as I am nearing two years with AWF:

- in general harder than expected, as I think the talent is there with 4-5 guys in their early 30s who I am building around. While I have some good shows I struggle getting to National. But definately fun and challenging.

- The 90 minutes show is holding me back but I cannot get a two hour or a second show

- Best hire has been Ghost Rider who until recenty was my top heel and two time World Champion. Others I am building around are Nick Hart, Cross, Hawk and Ghost Rider.

- Find it really difficult to bring over any of the midcard talent

- Workers who frustrate me are Silva Dolla, VIP and Bryce

There are two ways to look at the 90 minute show. One is that it limits the amount of people you can get airtime. The other is that you have less time to fill, allowing you to focus more heavily on the workers who will deliver strong grades, thereby regularly giving you stronger grades. It might not be a problem by the point you're at, but it can be earlier in the game.

National is definitely reachable. I just ran a watcher game to the start of January 2018 and the AWF hit National in June of 2015, run by the AI. They dropped back to Cult in mid 2017 and then National again before the end of the year.

I'm now a couple of months into my first shot at the Thunderverse, playing as CWT.

Running a one hour show without a PPV deal for my bigger events is something that I have yet to encounter as I've always played as bigger promotions in my other games. It's been a little difficult shifting my focus to having big name matches and title defences taking place on what would usually be "weaker" build cards.

CWT Heavyweight Champion The Ghost Rider against Jack America (user character) and Manu Samoa.

The latter two have awesome chemistry together as a tag team and will soon get a run against my current tag champs in Bubba Traylor and Smokin' Stevie Gunn.

Jesse Mills is my current second tier champion, portraying an abusive cult leader who constantly berates and beats down his follower Sonny Parks.

I'm currently working on building up new signings Corvis Jones and Jimmy Walker with two different takes on a lone wolf style gimmick.

EDIT: I've been toying with the idea of writing a dynasty for this if there's enough interest. Let me know if it's a concept that you wouldn't mind reading more about.

CWT is a fun promotion, but I've honestly never run them. I always imagine a wonderfully old school vibe, much like watching Mid Atlantic Wrestling episodes from 1982 and 1983, or WCCW from only a couple years later.

Sounds like a solid game. And yes, you will attract readers if you do a diary. You will have myself and at least a number of other TVerse enthusiasts.

I'm also a fan of Jimmy Walker, but I'm biased.

i just downloaded the thunderverse. have no idea what to do with it!! :D

Explore. Enjoy. And book.

Depends entirely on what kind of adventure you want. PWI is like a national version of mid-00s ROH, or maybe an updated version of 1989-1990 WCW. The AWF is a bit like the Attitude Era, but with some interesting history. CWT is pure old school. Dragon is American LuchaResu. There are plenty more options and that's just in the US.

Let us know how you get on, Zies.

Never played with the Thunderverse before, but this prompted me to download it and give it a go. Looks pretty great.

Glad it got you to take a look.

the pics are cool... is that using Daz or Poser? what would be cool is release of the scene file so another artist could further use his morphs to add even more variations to the current model. (unless that's available already?)

I also am playing a game with CWT, just had my first string of TV shows and one event to cap off my first ''month''.

With the 60 minute TV show I have quickly learned to be smart with my booking. Only one-two long-ish match (15 min is a stretch) on TV and that's the main event between one of my top guys and a lesser top guy designed to give the top guy a nice win and some momentum towards his own story.

Example I have L-Mack and Beek feuding for a title shot, and they won't fight each other directly until the event. Instead of that I have them cut promo's and have angles between them to build up the heat in their storyline instead, and have them look strong against non-ME guys, especially the older semi active guys.

Also for fun I have started a storyline between Johnny Hammer and Duke where Duke feels obliged at retiring the old fart, yet the old guy keeps stealing wins and draws from Duke. At the event Duke snapped and did a beat down on Hammer, only for JD Hogg to run out and save Hammer from the clobbering.

Reason I got in JD Hogg was that despite my best intentions, and his skills, Hammer can't put together decent matches on his own anymore. He had a woeful 35 with main eventer Beek, and he's been low/mid 20's with Duke... So I'm instead going to use Hammer's great psych/basics to tutor JD Hogg as a future star, teaming with him and managing him too.

Of course, until JD Hogg feels like he's learned enough and turns on his old master. :p

I got a bit of a Legacy idea going with Hogg, first being the bland Cody Rhodes that's learning from the veteran, then turning on him for another up-and-comer.

I really like CWT and T-Verse, I have a hard time keeping myself focused with smaller companies because i'm just going from event to event. And bigger companies are too... big. With CWT I have a small show where I can build stories, and also a good events (hopefully future PPV's) where I can have longer more involved matches.

My first event main event even scored a 78! between Big Bubba and Ghost Rider. That made me a very happy chappy

Pretty sure this is what Hammer is there for, train youngsters on the pre-show unless he's of use in angles on the main show ;)

There's new data? Hmmm...

I've been dabbling with CCW in the original. We lost Brett Massey after four months when he decided he was too big for us, then he floated around in the indies for a bit until PWI picked him up.

Chris Raymond is my champ still, and I have no idea who he should lose the title to. I'm having second thoughts about turning Josh Trendsetter, since our No. 2 heel would then be Savage Warrior, and no one wants that. I found tag chemistry with DeSean Royal and Keymo, and they won the tag straps from the DaSilva Brothers after the brothers won the Calgary Cup for the second time.

Also, PWI just went to National and went on a signing spree. Who'd they take from us? F.J. Kendall. Not Raymond or Trendsetter; not even Phoenix or the DaSilvas (they're hurting for tag teams. Kevin Kale got a tag title run, for Jebus' sake) But F.J. Kendall? Really, Shane?

<p>Would keep Hammer off TV, but as MJ says, there is definitely a use for him. If he's putting someone over in a dark match and helping them learn better Psychology and Basics, there's value in that. Yeah, his Time Decline will mean the match grade is a solid grade below what it could be, but that won't hurt the popularity or momentum of the younger worker much, not unless you are doing the same match week after week. </p><p> </p><p>

Looking for tag chemistry is a nice thought. You can save yourself that effort by bringing in his tag partner. Who is likely going to be just as far into decline, but the tag experience compensates for that somewhat.</p>
