Crychon
<p>I know this is probably a strange takeaway from the first few days of the G1, but after not watching Japanese wrestling for a while, Japanese crowds are pretty refreshing. They're respectful, they get really into it, and they don't feel the need for "clever" chants every two minutes. I also love the collective "whoa" whenever someone does something great.</p><p> </p><p> I haven't watched today's matches yet, but the first couple of days have had some great matches. Ibushi vs. Naito and Okada vs. Elgin in particular have stood out to me. </p><p> </p><p> Looking forward to watching the rest of it!</p><p> </p><p> EDIT: Also, Callis sounds like Canadian JBL to me.</p>
Crychon
The G1 Climax was great, and I'm glad I watched all of it. Unfortunately, they also charged me twice within a two week period, so I dropped the service before it continued. I was planning on sticking around for a few months, but I really don't want to deal with customer service, so I'm just going to drop it for now. I might pick it back up in time for WK. Crychon
I'm guessing you signed up late in the month? They always bill at the beginning of the calendar month, rather than a month from whenever you signed up. Well, now I know! I've never seen a video service do that before, so I had no reason to think that was a thing. Overall, I loved the in-ring product, but thought the NJPW World service itself was kind of clunky. I'll just have to deal with that when I want to watch more. I also kind of wish I waited a bit more before canceling so I could've watched a bit more for the rest of the month, but eh. I effectively paid $20 for a month of service. At least the wrestling was good!

I looked into what people were saying before I first signed up for the service a couple of years ago and happened to see that. It's strange.</p><p> </p><p> It's definitely clunky. I'm hoping they'll make the Fire TV app much easier to use, particularly making it easier to browse and search for older content. But I'm just glad they HAVE a Fire TV app now so I don't have to watch it on my computer anymore! That really helped me enjoy the G1 even more this year compared to the previous two.</p>
Stennick
Dave was reporting the other day that <span style="color:#FFFFFF;">Sami Callihan</span> will be coming to NJPW at the end of the year. I put it in spoilers because I know some people might not want to know. Either way its an interesting pick up.

The Final Countdown
That was a very cool reveal. I think Omega vs. <span style="color:#FFFFFF;">Ibushi</span> would have been a better match as far as match quality goes, but they can do that match anytime. What they went with will make more of a splash outside of Japan, which is obviously a major point of focus for them right now. It's a smart move and was a genuinely shocking moment for me, which isn't something I can say very often these days.
BHK1978
Why does NJPW have so many titles. I get having the Heavyweight, Tag Titles, Junior singles and tag titles. What is the point of the other titles. Yeah one more singles title is understandable because you have to have something for the midcard guys to fight for but the rest just seem to be extra. Now the same can be said of the WWE, but at least the WWE has a brand split so that they could sort justify the extra titles.
SanX
I agree with you BHK. Certain circumstances made this happen. Shinsuke elevated IC title to the Main event Scene, so it became a Main Event belt. NEVER belts weren't supposed to be what they are now. They were supposed to be a different identity but NJPW made chicken salad out of it by using it as prize for their hard hitting wrestlers. US belt was created to show the intent that NJPW wants a share in America and had right opportunity with Omega becoming a star. IC title was supposed to do that but it failed to do so. I agree that Jr and heavyweight tag division should be unified as both divisions are thin as a paper. I think the limited amount of shows help them to not overexpose their talent. Also, they have extraordinary talent under the contracts to sustain having these many singles belts. It's just a matter of time, when they will run out of combinations to put on Marquee though. All belts have their purpose, other than Openweight belt. Even trios belt serves as a match that can main event road to shows. I think one of the utubers explained the booking of NJPW belts perfectly. Gedo is a genius and thus all of the belts have ability to Main event smaller shows. His videos are all pretty good, so worth a look anyway, That was a great video, as was the "Fall and Rise of Tetsuya Naito" video I watched. I have watched more NJPW this year than ever before and have been loving what they have been putting out. Wrestling fans should definitely be checking out NJPW if they really love seeing great wrestling because they really have been the best major company in 2017. MightyDavidson
So I've been following the 2017 World Tag League as best I could. I'm okay with the finals of A block as, from what I've seen, EVIL and Sanada are a good team and I love LiJ to begin with. Then I looked at B block: Guerillas of Destiny, War Machine and KES all win their matches and have 10 points. This is interesting I think, it's a three way dance to decide the B block finals. Nope, Guerrillas of Destiny are declared the winner and there's no tie breaker. I'm flabbergasted and hope EVIL and Sanada destroy Guerillas of Destiny in the finals cause in my opinion EVIL and Sanada are the only team that actually EARNED the right to be in the finals. War Machine and KES were screwed over.

That's the usual tiebreaker in those situations in NJPW.

I mean if you want to have Guerrillas of Destiny win B block fine, I've got no issue with that but why make it confusing? Either have them get more points then the other teams or do the three way tie and settle it with a three way match. Why even book the three way tie if you're not gonna do a three way match? Derek B
So... NJPW is awesome. Wrestle Kingdom is in 8 hours. I have to go sleep soon but here is the card and some predictions from me. Feel free to copy/pasta your predictions in and talk endlessly about which matches will be awesome. WRESTLE KINDGOM 12 IWGP Heavyweight Title Tetsuya Naito vs Kazuchika Okada © WINNER: Naito No DQ for the IWGP United States Title Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega © WINNER: Kenny Omega IWGP Intercontinental title Jay White vs Hiroshi Tanahashi © WINNER: Hiroshi Tanahashi IWGP Junior Heavyweight title Marty Scurll © vs Will Ospreay vs KUSHIDA vs Hiromu Takahashi WINNER: Marty Scurll Hair vs Hair for the NEVER Openweight title Minoru Suzuki © vs Hirooki Goto WINNER: Minoru Suzuki IWGP Heavyweight Tag titles Killer Elite Squad (Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr) vs Los Ingobernables de Japan (EVIL and Sanada) WINNER: Evil/Sanada Cody vs Kota Ibushi WINNER: Kota Ibushi Gauntlet Match for the NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team titles Bullet Club (Guerillas of Desitiny and Bad Luck Fale) © vs War Machine & Michael Elgin vs Suzuki-Gun (Taichi, Izuka, Zack Zabre Jr) vs Taguchi Japan (Ryusuke Taguchi, Juice Robinson, Togi Makabe) vs CHAOS (Beretta, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano) WINNER: Taguchi Japan IWGP Jr Tag titles Roppongi 3K (Sho and Yo) © vs The Young Bucks WINNER: The Young Bucks ------------------------ There is also the Rumble for everyone who is left... it'll likely have guys like Liger, Satoshi Kojima, Tenzan and loads of other veterans and fun people. It's going to be an awesome show and I've been so excited for it for a while that I've been playing a BHOTWG game in TEW where I've more or less ripped off everything NJPW. It's been awesome. That he'll reach Tanahashi levels of Ace.</p><p> </p><p> No DQ for the IWGP United States Title</p><p> Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega ©</p><p> WINNER: Kenny Omega</p><p> Reasoning: Jericho most likely isnt staying around but you never know with him. Omega is the safe bet though.</p><p> </p><p> IWGP Intercontinental title</p><p> Jay White vs Hiroshi Tanahashi ©</p><p> WINNER: Hiroshi Tanahashi</p><p> Reasoning: This could be an Okada type upset 2.0 but I think the "Once in a Century" talent will defeat switchblade in what is sure to be an astounding match.</p><p> </p><p> IWGP Junior Heavyweight title</p><p> Marty Scurll © vs Will Ospreay vs KUSHIDA vs Hiromu Takahashi</p><p> WINNER: Marty Scurll</p><p> Reasoning: I have no idea who will win and Scurrl just won the title so I'll pick him.</p><p> </p><p> Hair vs Hair for the NEVER Openweight title</p><p> Minoru Suzuki © vs Hirooki Goto</p><p> WINNER: Minoru Suzuki</p><p> Reasoning: Goto has been built as never winning the big one and a loss here would definitely cement that. The Final Countdown
Okada....what are you wearing mate? Haha...yeah, those pants were hideous. I won't go into specifics because I don't want to spoil anything for anybody who wants to watch and hasn't had a chance to yet, but I really enjoyed the show. I though basically every match delivered on expectations outside of Tanahashi vs. Jay White. I need to give the main event another watch in a few days because I got interrupted several times while watching, but among everything else, I think my favorite match was probably Omega vs. Jericho. I thought it would be a pretty good match going in, but it blew away my expectations. I might have enjoyed it more than any other Jericho match, which says quite a lot since he's been one of my favorites since 1998.
CPBHBK
Okada vs Naito was an excellent match, I had no idea who would win going into the closing moments. It felt maybe a bit short of some expectations but it was a still excellent. Omega vs Alpha was a very good match my favorite point was Red Shoes and Jericho in the beginning I think. But the ending wow it looked painful. Tanahashi vs White it was an ok match, I agree with TFC the match did not deliver on expectations and I think most of that was on White's selling for me. Also I liked the idea of White wanting Tanahashi to be the Ace he was but was also heeling so I was a bit confused by White. Suzuki vs. Goto, Suzuki came off as usual as a crazy monster and I thought Goto was legit injured multiple times. His selling was on point. I really enjoyed this match. Poputt
<p>What the hell was up with that awful cosplay crap Omega was wearing at the beginning of his match with Jericho? They were building this as some serious old school feud and then he comes out dressed like... a BDSM furry? With a nerf gun? I don't get it. At least the match was good.</p><p> </p><p> Also: <strong>MAN</strong> Naito is over. This guy is the real ace of the company.</p>
