What's going on in your game?

<p>I bought out NJPW. I am now introducing faction warfare. I have the storylines all planned out.. except I've hit a constant snag in one.</p><p> </p><p>

Great Bash Heel.</p><p> </p><p>

I gave Hiroyoshi Tenzan everything to make him a real threat, first ever G1 win (since buying NJPW) a reign with my top title. Everything. </p><p> </p><p>

But he was in decline.. so it wasn't going to be long, that's ok though. I was going to have Makabe overthrow him and run GBH through as Makabe is 35 and Tenzan hit his decline early at 37.</p><p> </p><p>

So throughout 2008 I was planting seeds. Tenzan's skill being put into question as Makabe rose through the ranks. At 36... Makabe has hit decline. I'm pissed. I can't build Makabe up now at all and this sucks. I'm unsure what to do with GBH now. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm thinking of thrusting Shibata into the spotlight. Shibata or Nakamura but my boy Shibata is like 11-0 in MMA right now so I can't rely on him. Though I could play that up. All I know is I totally need to rework GBH in the coming months as Tenzan isn't even capable of putting on a good main event now.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Making matters worse... Chris Benoit hit decline in 41. Jun Akiyama hit decline in 38. Ultimo Dragon 41.</p>

Playing as Impact Wrestling on the April '17 mod. One of my feuds are LAX vs Death Crew Council for the tag titles, and a match was scheduled for Lockdown. On the night of the PPV, Kingston turns up high and has to be sent home... My mind is spinning, thinking "how can I solve this?"... So... Before the match, I had Bram come out and demand a handicap match for the titles, since his partner wasn't there (reason left unknown). I booked one, Bram losing, and firing Kingston the next day.

<p>Been steadily trucking through my dataset and figured out some stuff for DIW--roster's almost finalised, so that's something to look forward to.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm setting up the NBTs to have been the heroes of their tag division, multiple time champions and all the rest (some creative liberties taken but hey, idea entertained me).</p><p> </p><p>

This morning, I kind of refocused and looked at the team's names again.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>After taking some time off feeling super burnt out with the game, I returned in a major way recently and have been blitzing through a SHIMMER save. We hit cult recently which was great because Impact kept stealing some of my best workers, still bitter they stole Cheerleader Melissa who was putting on 70+ rated matches for me as my champion just to job on Xplosion! They also stole Mia Yim from me right in the middle of a storyline that I was having a ton of fun booking with her vs Courtney Rush. </p><p> </p><p>

November 2018 saw my first annual Queen of The Trios tournament, after a 16 team knockout tournament the winners then faced off in a triple threat to decide the #1 contender for the Year End Climax. The team of Mercedes Martinez, Ayako Hamada and Nicole Savoy won the tournament before Mercedes Martinez won the triple threat to face the reigning champion Toni Storm, it led to our best rated match yet in Storm vs Mercedes match where Toni retained.</p><p> </p><p>

Just entering 2019 and it is going to kick off with a G1 style Grand Prix, which will culminate at Wrestling Queendom (An AJW inspired event name) with the winner facing Storm.</p>

I've started with WCW in July 1994. Just to shake things up a bit, I've randomised everyone's contract expiry date to somewhere in the next 12 months.

Almost as if the game wants me to unleash Hulkamania on Atlanta, Hogan got the full 12 month deal and Flair's is up the day after Bash at the Beach. Terrific. Naturally I offered Flair an extension (I had a great story in mind), but he's quite deep into decline so it was to be a Gatekeeper role for 12 months, then re-assess once I've used him to establish who I need establishing. Obviously Vince came in with his own counter-offer(s) so I'm in the midst of a bidding war (current offer: $93k per month, $86k signing bonus, 20% per event, creative control, wage matching, 5 years). Now I've cooled off overnight, I just might let him go and run an accelerated "Summer of Punk"-type storyline over the next month and have Hogan save the day (yay!).

Elsewhere, I plan to bring back a bit of realism to the product with generally longer matches and less ridiculous gimmicks so the contract randomisation gives me a nice opportunity to rid the roster of the one-trick ponies in the next year, although I've opened myself up to the double-edged sword of WWF stealing the talent I want (or have) to build around whilst I linger in a distant 2nd. Even with my monetary power, CEO Bischoff has restricted what I can offer (as I've found out with Flair) and put in place some awkward goals, such as burying Austin (although I might plan to just break that, he's got too much star power to flounder when I'm needing to win National Battles).

Storyline-wise, I've got an absolute mountain of things lined up. Real long-term layered stories for much of the established roster. I've taken my time assessing everyone and in addition I've also got a couple of exciting arcs planned even without any participants in mind. I know what type of character and worker I need so when the time is right, I can just pull the trigger. Thinking about it, I've got a few years of storylines written down already. The only question mark is the Flair situation but the story isn't unique to the Nature Boy character I can easily substitute him for another main eventer to reach the end goal (it just might require a shocking heel turn!).

Whilst I'm at National level, I plan to keep the active wrestling roster capped at 48 so until contracts are up and I can trim the fat, there will be some time off given here and there but that sets up the classic return storyline which is easy to write (I like to have everyone, except some jobbers, involved in storylines).

I'm trying not to spoil anything as I write this because I may plan to turn this into a diary once I get a few months in. I'm excited to get going with this and barring an unexpected event which turns me off, I envisage a minimum 3-4 year lifespan on this already.

<p>I'm currently four months into my attempt to revive CGC from the sinking ship that it is. About to go into DeColt Wrestle Festival, which I made into a single day, and treated it like WrestleMania. </p><p> </p><p>

The Bad News? One week out from the big show, and Thrill Seeker breaks his neck! A four month feud with Ricky DeColt, about to end at DWF, right down the toilet! Oh yeah, and DeColt was at fault with a botched move, so Seeker hates him now. Oooooof!</p><p> </p><p>

The Good News? TCW felt to Cult, only offering PPA deals to their guys, so I'm poaching any guys with written contracts that the big companies don't sign. My latest signing? Jay Chord! Me thinks I know who is Jack DeColt's next big challenger! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />:D:D</p><p> </p><p>

Gonna post a more extended review of my game when I get to the six month mark. See ya then.</p>

<p>Just finished 2016 with MAW. Hadn't played as them since I first bought the game a year ago and I'm pretty rust with them. I only have $6000 in the bank after a year. This is mostly due to poor decisions to run multiple shows in a month for almost half the year and the industry being completely in the tank. </p><p> </p><p>

Oddly had NYCW declare war on me, which I didn't think was possible since we are both still in the COTT. Based on this NYCW has decided to steal George Wolfe and there isn't a lot I could or really want be doing about it(They are a bigger company and I'm at my core currently a dev company). </p><p> </p><p>

By bringing in outside talent for the Rip Chord and Sam Keith tourneys I've had Keith decide I need to keep Storm Spillane, Dragon Americano, and Gino Montero. Since it's his company I figure I may as well use them to the max capability as Gino has been a huge help after Gauge was signed by GCG right before the Sam Keith tourney the other two less so by Storm has basically been on tour in PGHW since he signed with me.</p><p> </p><p>

Hopeful that I don't have to sell my dojo to keep going, current pushes are going to Gino, Roddy Remus ©, Remmy Skye, The Architect, and Jackpot Jordan who got release after 3 months of game time.</p>

<p>Let's talk about whose in Time Decline in 2009.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Makabe gets time decline at 36, Tenzan gets it at 36. Great Bash Heel is cursed.</p><p> </p><p>

Tenzan's career is pretty much over at 39, and that's a shame because I gave him the ****ing world to establish GBH in 2007. So as Tenzan is almost done I say "**** it I'll push Makabe as the new leader." The next month Makabe is declining. So now I'm just going to push Nakamura into making CHAOS and having him get rid of Tenzan. Makabe will get his soon because I just have no need for a 36 year old in decline.</p><p> </p><p>

So I need to revitalize GBH while making CHAOS look good. I hire Tensai and Rocky Romero (as Black Tiger) and sure enough WWE almost instantly takes Tensai back after releasing him earlier in the year. I'm not paying 45k for an average midcard monster heel. Rocky Romero is doing well though, at the very ****ing least. Kojima and Manabu Nakanishi are 39 and 42 and so far no decline. </p><p> </p><p>

Jushin Liger, Ultimo Dragon, and Great Sasuke, and Tiger Mask IV, my four iconic juniors all hit time decline in the same span of 3-6 months. Which REALLY sucks but I can use their popularity to push the next wave of juniors. Kenny Omega, Rocky Romero, Perro Aguayo Jr. are all benefiting. </p><p> </p><p>

Jun Akiyama was declining at 37, and is now 39. Still a solid worker but again, whenever someone hits decline in their late 30s (39 is ok I suppose) I just lose complete interest in them. I don't want to be WWE and have Sid Vicious as my World Champion in 2009.</p><p> </p><p>

Chris Benoit is in decline has been for a bit now but he is an elite worker so I'm rocking with it for a bit. Though this is his last year here before I retire him. </p><p> </p><p>

Overall it's rough replacing so much talent, my Junior division is specifically hurting as those four were basically the cornerstone and looking back I really undervalued them. I feel like WCW now. Ultimo Dragon was always busy with his other obligations, and Liger was with NJPW before I bought them out 2 years ago, but Tiger Mask IV and Great Sasuke have been with me almost since the start.</p>

<p>May 96 mod. Started with a 0/0/0 fed. Am currently in 2003.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm still at regional. Not close to getting to Cult yet but I have my main region around I just put on the best show of my company's life.</p><p> </p><p>

- <strong>Sexton Hardcastle</strong> and <strong>Claudio Castagnoli</strong> defeated <strong>The Briscoe Bros</strong> <strong>[50]</strong></p><p>

Claudio and Sexton were a throw-in team. Sexton has sort of been my Roman Reigns, a guy I've tried to get over but it just hasn't worked. The Briscoes are still pretty green here.</p><p> </p><p>

- <strong>Shane Helms</strong> defeated <strong>Rob Conway</strong> <strong>[58]</strong></p><p>

Helms is one the 6 guys I started the company with and is easily the best of the bunch. He was champion until recently. Unfortunately the program was not kind to him so he went on a bit of a losing streak. This is a bounceback match. Conway is the biggest disappointment on the roster. Consistently puts on the worst performance on the card despite having one of the better statlines in the company. </p><p> </p><p>

- Confrontation between <strong>Brian Danielson</strong> and <strong>Mike Quackenbush</strong> with <strong>Micheal Buffer</strong>. <strong>[58]</strong></p><p>

Buffer handles both commentary and interview work in the fed, which is a bit obnoxious because I have to take him off commentary every time I do an angle. Quack has gone over the bend and is apoplectic about his inability to beat Danielson. Danielson tries to placate him but Quack is having none of it.</p><p>

(I don't do really complex angles)</p><p> </p><p>

6 Man Match:</p><p>

<strong>Jay Lethal</strong> and <strong>The Altitude Era</strong>(Blitzkrieg and Scott Taylor) defeated <strong>Cham Pain</strong> and <strong>The Addiction</strong>(Daniels and Kazarian) <strong>[54]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

I flat out messed up the booking on this match. It was supposed to be the whole '2 singles guys and 2 tag teams who are feuding have a 6 man match' except The Altitude Era and The Addiction weren't feuding.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Kevin Steen</strong> defeated <strong>Lenny Lane</strong> <strong>[41]</strong></p><p>

Steen is still pretty green and not over. Lane was one of my original 6 but he peaked at 'less than mediocre' so once I got better workers he had outlived his usefulness.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Micheal Buffer</strong> interviews <strong>AJ Styles</strong> <strong>[68]</strong></p><p>

Styles is already one of the most over workers in the company.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>AJ Styles</strong> defeated <strong>CM Punk</strong> <strong>[70]</strong></p><p>

By contrast CM Punk isn't quite there yet. He's a next big thing but he needed to be carried to this rating (the performance numbers were 75/45)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bryan Danielson</strong> went to a double DQ with <strong>Kurt Angle</strong> <strong>[76]</strong></p><p>

To date, the highest ranked match I've ever had with this company. I got a huge stroke of luck with Danielson. I snatched him early and then AJPW and NJPW kept using him for tours, which caused his stats to skyrocket. I acquired Kurt Angle as something of a 'ringer' because amazingly nobody had signed him and I needed a little something extra to win the regional battles at the time. Unfortunately he throws a fit whenever he's asked to job to anybody but Danielson.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Glenn Jacobs</strong> destroys everybody. <strong>[85]</strong></p><p>

And the show ends with Glenn Jacobs destroying both Danielson and Angle. I got Jacobs at the same time I got Angle and he has the same problem when I ask him to job to anybody. I guess the problem is they're national stars and the rest of my roster are only regional stars (even if their popularity in my region is equivalent). Anyway this is easily the highest ranked segment I've ever done. Gotta love Menace.</p><p> </p><p>

For now, my spot is my spot. I'm making plenty of money, I don't have to worry about hitting Cult for a few more years. I don't have to worry about regional battles much because the companies that challenged me either went up to Cult or went out of business. And most of my young stars (most importantly Danielson) are loyal so I don't have to worry about them getting sniped (Though WCW only seems to want to snipe the WWF and WWF doesn't sign many workers anyway. Worst case scenario I lose Angle. Jacobs is already in decline so no loss there).</p>

I'm playing along in my Impact 2017 save, and this pops up:

Xavier Woods def Brock Lesnar to become the new Universal Champion... I mean... What? The AI is retarded :/

Picture Xavier Woods reaching Kenny Omega level of skills and then it works out.

--

Brooklyn Brawler's christmas presents to his WWE employers in 2001 is to whistleblow their steroid issues. They're at war with my small-sized company so I'm glad to see their prestige shot.

Are you implying Kenny is even on the same universe as Xavier? He needs to improve a lot! :p

Also on that topic I notice the WWF LOVES to declare war on Michinoku Pro for whatever reason...why the hell would Vince bother with a small indy that isn't even Tokyo-based, that I do not know.

Just started a new TCW game, approaching the first event, Malice in Wonderland. The card is as follows:

Aaron Andrews © vs. Rocky Golden for the TCW World Heavyweight Title

Wolf Hawkins vs. Joshua Taylor

American Buffalo vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

Bryan Vessey vs. Sammy Bach

Jay Chord vs. Brent Hill vs. Human Arsenal vs. Mighty Mo vs. Marc Speed © for the TCW International Title

The Behemoths © vs. The Canadian Animals vs. The New Wave for the TCW Tag Team Titles

#1 Contender's Battle Royal feat. Eddie Peak, Danny Fonzarelli, Benny Benson, Troy Tornado & others...

Not a lot notable has happened so far. 2 new instances of dating to help my locker room (Laura Huggins & Troy Tornado; Vita & Bart Biggins) and a couple of negative incidents, so the overall backstage is at 61%. RDJ announced that he'll work in Japan but he's 10 years into Decline so I don't expect anyone to try to sign him away. Matt Hocking & Flying Jimmy Foxx have great chemistry so they'll be the #3 face team until I start making signings. My goal is to make it to Total Mayhem without signing anyone, but I'll make exceptions for guys I like from my competitors. I just don't want to steal from the indies for a bit.

<p>As my own company, the #2 in the world, I'm about 4 and a half years in at this point. My latest storyline in the main event scene saw Kofi Kingston, known to my audience as Kofi Carthage, finally get his big break. He is thus far our longest reigning World Heavyweight Champion. His reign finally came to an end when a certain someone's career has seemingly evolved. Once known as the Legend Killer early in his career, and only recently turning his back on the REBEL fans... Randy Orton is now deemed the Legendary Killer. He finds his second run with the belt by once again derailing a Kofi Kingston push, this time after it is well underway. In Randy's first title defense of this reign, Kofi remembers to stay down and takes the punt.</p><p> </p><p>

I've got either Jason Jordan, known to our fans as Jordan Everhart, or KUSHIDA lined up to become a first-time champion when Orton passes them the torch. Can't decide who though, as Jordan is #4 in my Franchise Players at 33, while KUSHIDA is right behind Tyler Black as my top performer as of late. I just might have him toss it back to a returning Kofi first, though. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: It might've worked out more than I expected, as we just won our first National Battle against WWE.</p>

6 months into my diary and I have Aaron Andrews more over than Rocky Golden, Wolf Hawkins and RDJ. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> My goal was to have this done in 2 years so I am ahead of schedule. To be fair this is because Eddie Peak is his "Body guard" and his Menace makes Andrews segments sky high!

<p>I recently started a WCW 1995 game. I've made it to 1996 and the nWo just formed at the Great American Bash.</p><p> </p><p>

Thankfully Hogan returned in time to form the group. He had been suspended for gang beating Nick Patrick with Jimmy Hart and Brutus. All three got suspended. This is Hogan's second strike with his first strike being a refusal to drop the world title at starrcade to Ric Flair and basically ruining my show. One more strike and either Savage or Hart will be taking the reigns of the nWo.</p><p> </p><p>

This is my WCW. That isn't going to fly.</p>

<p>Speaking of WCW.</p><p>

(Buckle up, this is going to be a long one).</p><p> </p><p>

My NECW 0/0/0 game is going quite well. Well enough that I decided to start a new game because that's how I am. For reasons I won't go into I've watched a fair degree of 2000's WCW over the past year and I asked myself 'what could they even have done with this mess'</p><p> </p><p>

So I decided to find out. I saw that there is a Jan 2000 historical mod in the 2013 mod archives so I dug that out and converted it. The first thing I notice is that in this mod The Radicalz are still in WCW and Bret Hart is not-retired. This will not do. So before I started the game I moved all the Radicalz to the WWF and retired Bret Hart to really get that 'this is the point of no return' feel WCW had in Jan 2000. </p><p> </p><p>

I fire up the game and it is every bit as insane as I thought it would be. </p><p>

All 7 of the 'true' active main eventers have pops ranging from 70-80, which isn't nearly good enough for a National company. Of the 7, 6 of them are disciplinary headaches, 5 are heels, 2 are faces. I decide to even things out by turning Sid Vicious face. So 3 and 3. This is good. Except Lex Luger wrestled wasted forcing me to send him to rehab for 8 months. Then Hall wrestled drunk, which I absolutely saw coming; so to rehab he goes for the remainder of his contract. So now we're down to 3 faces and 2 heels. And then I remember that Sting, Hogan and Goldberg are on the shelf. 3 more main event faces, which will create a massive inequity when they return. I have Piper and Savage in the short turn, whom I was loathe to use because they're occasional wrestlers. But their contracts are up in two months. </p><p> </p><p>

So for the first month I desperately try to keep the show ratings high, which means no room for experimentation because with things the way they are my best workers are just barely capable of maintaining two 77 rated storylines at a time. </p><p> </p><p>

Oh, did I mention that in this mod the 12 workers I've mentioned have a combined salary of 1.3 Million Dollars a month. I can't even release them because it would be financially crippling. 12 workers, 1.3 million dollars and as of right now only 5 of them are active. I wound up sending Sid on vacation because he wouldn't stop getting Morale dings on account of being isolated in the locker room and Nash has gotten suspended for beating up Brad Armstrong. Basically the financial future of this company it tethered to how long these contracts are around my neck. I can get rid of Piper and Savage in 2 months, Hall in 6, but I'm stuck with the rest for the next 2-3 years depending.</p><p> </p><p>

Luckily, I still made a profit my 1st month.</p><p>

Unluckily I also dropped to Cult after losing the national battle to the WWE.</p><p>

And all of my TV contracts are up in 2 months. And Turner Broadcasting/TNT/TBS won't negotiate with me, forcing me to wonder if I'll still be able to turn a profit once that happens, because if I can't there's not much I can do about it. This is really the only real problem. You can ride out everything else, just not losing money.</p><p> </p><p>

At which point it's operation 'drive the bad contracts into quitting'. I'm already there with Nash. Just waiting for him to get into another fight and that's 150k/mo in my pocket.</p><p> </p><p>

Creatively much like the actual WCW of the time I'm going with the youth movement. Except with good youths. I took a necessary risk and spent 1M on a developmental territory and signed all your usual indie darlings of 2000 suspects to it. I'm bringing in more road agents and higher character workers to try the mitigate the damage my overpaid idiots are doing backstage. My first creative goal is to push Rey Mysterio Jr. to the world title. I'm also gearing up Booker T, Juventud, and Steven Regal to a point where they can carry the brand once I start kicking the old money to the curb. </p><p> </p><p>

This is where being Cult is useful. The pressure of gaining pop is lessened so I can experiment and rebuild. If I lose some pop, I'll regain it once the company's turnover plans come to fruition. In that vein I'll be transferring Thunder to 'B' show status once I switch stations, since I really don't want 2 opportunities to lose pop per week. </p><p> </p><p>

But this is a 2 year plan and I'm on month 2. Here's to hoping all these ridiculous contracts don't kill me. Suggestions welcome.</p>
