I still can't figure out what moves the needle toward Velvet Glove. I just ran some tests, trying out the different responses to a variety of incidents. I've got no trouble moving the needle toward Iron Fist and Loyalty, but can't budge it toward Velvet Glove.

Anyone have any insight on this? I'm beginning to feel like it's not working as intended.

asking this one again, because it is frustrating me to the point of giving up a save i enjoy.

I run a user created company (created in game by the avatar, not pre edited)

we started Small at E popularity in the Northeast, had about 750 fans my first show.

In the year and a half since, after a few shows (read mabye the first 2) getting E- and not getting the "this has increased our popularity in 1 region" note, I average a D-, sometimes getting to D, which i think is pretty good for a new, small company running one hour show per month with limited workers.

Since those first two months, every single month, I get the "this has increased out popularity!" note. We are trending downward popularity wise at a crazy rate, I am just barely a E- now. This again despite putting on a very well received show every month.

and every single month, the amount of people coming to my show plummets, along with my popularity. I am now 18 months in, and have 302 people coming to the show. This despite beating my popularity every month.

I just don't know what else i could do. My Roster isn't the problem for a company my size, we have very cheap guys, and I don't pay for travel. Total talent costs are around 5K on a major show month, 3.5K on a slower month.

The wrestling industry is C and falling, and the economy is D- and falling. I get that that situation is likely the thing murdering my budget (we are down to 14K, down from a 35K bank roll at one point.)

My question is, I could accept that fiancial times are going to be tough, button down, and wait for an upswing in the industry and economey.

but why, for gods sake, does running D- and D shows at small murder my popularity? we are sinking like a stone in that department, and i just don't get why.

Is it as simple as since i started in the New England in the C-verse for roleplay purposes, I am doomed to fail because the best i can get on the monthly "regional battle" is 3rd out of 4 as a small company?

I am really super frustrated about this. I just don't see a light at the end of the tunnel if running shows in the D- and D range on a E- pop company is actively going to lose me fans. And I don't think i can go much lower on worker costs. Our highest paid guys are Austin Smooth (400 bucks) and Copperhead (500 bucks) not like i am spending recklessly to get that sweet D- show grade that drops our popularity, despite the game telling me it was a great show and increased our popularity in the region.

Any insights? am i just screwed by the regional battle that is the northeast?

Edit: I am on patch 1.09 for what it's worth, though patching to it seems to have actually hurt the financial side even further. I had to dial back every production level to the lowest possible level, making it even harder to even get 3rd in the regional battle, and we still lose around 500-1000 bucks a month.

It wasn't the intent. I will also admit to the phrase 'working as intended' as used in common gaming parlance making my teeth itch. So again, sorry if that escaped its bottle.

But in TEW13, it seemed infinitely easier to unlock psycho sermons (thus, fear/iron fist) than motivational speeches. Your tests would bear that out. I haven't had the opportunity to test it because my harmony preference coupled with Wrestler's Court and a dozen locker room leaders means that I don't see negative incidents much at all (I've had one in seven months so far, not including drug test failures who always get sent to rehab).

In 13, I got great results overall from my post-show speeches since I never really criticized anyone (I'm a hugger).
