I haven't tried a TV show yet. I currently run 5 shows a month... one a week, plus my big monthly show.

I'm almost at $2 million, but the Economy is now turning in the other direction (mind you, it is still at A+ right now).

My bigger problem is building overness for my top stars. All my main eventers have insane momentum, but in 6 months none of them has moved up even a single grade.

What strategies has everyone else found effective at getting talent over, given the 90 percent match ratio?

First, you can tweak the match ratio down a tick. Generally, I have never seen an owner object, but then I don't take it down lower than 70%.

Anyway, I did a 2 hour show on Deporte del Hoy for six months and Canal Tres for events for the same time frame. I added a weekly event which I booked like a b show. Once 6 months came up, I upgraded to La Red de Lucha and Seleccion Mexico, respectively. My main events are in the 60s and 70s, pop wise.

After my hard drive died and I lost all my original saves, I've been bouncing from promotion to promotion struggling to get started. Eventually tried OLLIE and I'm having a blast with it, even though I normally only book performance>popularity companies, and I'm now 1 year in. This thread has been quite useful in getting into it too.

We hit cult a few months ago just as the industry was peaking, and only suffered losses of $20-30k for the first 2 months before making profits of $150-350k since, which was great since I hadn't built up that much money beforehand, and that's with a bloated roster of 60 wrestlers. Only lost Nicolas Lopez to SOTBPW when I started offering out written contracts, so used that as the catalyst to pull the trigger on Gino Montero taking the title from Hijo Del Mephisto which has seen his popularity sky rocket. Had him drop the title to Silver Tiger at the end of the year which will be the cause of a heel turn for him and a bloody feud with his brother, before regaining the title in July and defending against a bunch of new opponents.

I've had to limit our size to cult for the moment as we rapidly approach national, as SOTBPW and USPW would both destroy us right now. But at the rate everyone's popularity is growing right now, it might not be too long before I can take them on. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

By the way, how often do you all run matches with mask/hair on the line? I wanted to try and use these as big feud enders, but I ended up abandoning it completely when El Ciritico refused to unmask on even OLLIE's biggest shows.

I struggle with the same problem. I wanted Flores to drop his hair to Hijo del Mephisto... in fact, I built both wrestlers up to have insane momentum just to pull it off and had them deliver promos, etc. ...and then Flores flat out refused to lose his hair.

I can't seem to get anyone to agree to it, and I'll be honest... it's deflating my enthusiasm for this save. What's the point of playing a lucha promotion if you can't do Lucha del Apuesta matches?

In other news, I finally gave in and got a TV Show. If everything goes well, tonight I will book the first episode of OLLIE Titanes de la Lucha Libre.

Also in exciting news, SOTBPW released Eduardo Prieto. Since he cost the same amount as Rafael Ruiz but represents a MASSIVE upgrade on Color Commentary, I signed him in a heartbeat. The bad news... I forgot he still had 2 weeks to go with SOTBPW and canned Ruiz right away. Now I need to fill the Color spot for the first two weeks of my new TV show. Thinking of using El Critico in the short term, as he actually has chemistry with Humberto Tortega.

I didn't even realise losing hair would be a problem, thought it was just because of mask prestige that I was encountering issues having somebody unmask. I did get Frederique Antonio Garcia to agree to lose his hair recently so there are some wrestlers who will agree to it. Maybe personality plays a part in it?

The available commentators in Mexico at the game start is really awful, so getting Prieto in will be a huge upgrade for you. The best I've been able to manage so far is Ana Garcia when SWF let her go. A step up from Ruiz but obviously not anywhere near the level of Prieto, but her existing experience with Peter Michaels is quite useful.

I think personality plays a part... likely popularity as well (as I'm betting Mephisto was still a grade lower than Flores when I tried). I believe momentum plays a role too. If I remember correctly, workers won't drop their mask unless the feud is hot.

Still, it would be good to know well in advance if a worker would drop their mask, rather than build a feud leading to a Lucha del Apuesta and finding out the day of the match that they aren't willing to drop it.

 • 1 month later...
So planning on starting up again, and I was curious to know if anyone had strategies on dealing with SOTBPW? Last time, I got to Cult and as soon as I tried signing anyone midcard or higher to a written deal, SOTBPW immediately swooped down like vultures on a rotting wildebeest carcass. It got so bad that I was tempted to integrate the Women's division and push Alicia Strong to the moon, as she was already ridiculously over.

Playing anew and... It could be going better. We're not even done August 2016, and SOTBPW have already poached both Monteros, Hijo Del Mephisto, Amo Del Gato, Mr. Lucha III, Marcos Flores, and Silver Tiger. Furthermore, most of the guys they've cut have been the jobbers and curtain jerkers. Except for Mexican Beast, as we're "too small" for him. The upside is that they released Devious Doctor Fang and Major Junta at almost the same time, so I nabbed both to bolster the tag division.

The big companies aren't really cutting anyone good. SWF cut The Crippler, who's pulling a Beast, and Jungle Lord, who I grabbed, because even on Time Decline, his pop and skills make him a valuable short-term asset.
