vbase
I find myself playing TEW often but there are some times when there are long gaps between my playing. Every time I play after a long gap, I find myself completely clueless of what my ideas before were, who I was giving a push or even who was the no.1 contender for a title.I try to do storylines but again, sometimes I just can't remember the direction I wanted to go with a storyline. The notes option is good but I don't use it much often because I don't want to constantly keep typing what my ideas are/were. Also I don't use it because I don't know when I will stop playing or when there will be a long gap in between. So, I don't want to type a long note about the build up to an upcoming event if I will play that event in 10-15 minutes. So just curious what other software do you use to enhance tracking and record keeping?
The Dynamite Sid
My phone is full of draft messages to myself with ideas that occur to me throughout the day because I spend far too long thinking about this game when I get deep into it Other than that I tend to have storylines mapped out in a word pad doc, another doc for PPV plans/overall plans for the year and the in-game notepad I use for little reminders. Test out X's chemistry vs Y, test out this guy in this gimmick, maybe if his current feud goes well wrestler A could go on to a feud with wrestler B. That sort of thing. KeyserSoze
Excel. I have a Excel to give me kpis of the workers from the mdb file. I usually looks health, personality, in ring and Star quality. Then I made a 1 year plan of titles, feuds and wish lists and non renewals. Probably the most fun of all the game

d12345
Excel for sure. When I run a performance based promotion like the ones in Japan I find it enjoyable to track certain stats.

I have one Excel doc where I tracked the performance ratings for each individual worker for each match for an entire 4 month tour (2 shows per week).

At the end of the tour it was real helpful in deciding who to sign to a written and which touring contracts shouldn't be picked up.

Certain workers improved greatly. Certain workers stayed around the same level.

Either way always excel for the sorting function.
vbase
I myself find myself going back to Excel a lot but I don't use it the ways described above. I mostly use it to track storylines.

I was looking for some software to do flow charts or tree type visual data because I think I can use it better but I couldn't find one. Do you guys know any good software to do that? Also, what do you do for tournaments, that too in Excel?
Bigpapa42
I use Open Office to create a speadsheet, so basically very similar to Excel. I have a bunch of different sheets for different purposes. One is roster info. Another is PPVs for the next two or three years - I can drop in tentative long-term plans, like who I would like to have headline the major PPV next year. Another is just random storyline ideas, gimmick ideas, angle ideas, etc.

Having something more visual would be interesting, vbase. Not too sure what would work, though. You can do some visuals in Excel with graphs, charts, etc. Cool way to track popularity growth and the like.
Rayelek
Excel, Word or Notepad. I also carry a small notebook around with me for ideas/brainstorming when I'm out away from my computer. Which program depends on what I'm looking to do.

I usually use notepad when I'm setting up storylines for a month. I'll list all of the faces, then all of the heels (from top of the card to the bottom), then start making feuds and deleting people from the lists.

If I'm using Word, it's because I'm playing a big company with huge events like SWF, TCW or USPW and I'm booking a few big events ahead, or even for a huge event like Supreme Challenge. I make a table and it helps me keep track of which events are bigger than others, and throw the full card in one column of the table, the month the event occurs, and which event it is.

I don't use Excel as much because it can take a lot of time to boot up from not using it, and I don't play TEW for long periods of time. The last time I got really good use out of excel was when I did a 3 brand split at Cult level when trying to advance to national. Each brand focused on a different part of North America (South East, Great Lakes & Mid Atlantic) and so I tracked the overness of my guys in those 3 locations, autopush and which brand everyone was on.
arwink
I use a trello board with one row devoted to tracking storylines/goals for the coming month, and another dealing with aspects of each show for easy rearranging as plans develop.
KeyserSoze
Ok, this is the file I use.

Simply you have to paste three sheets from the mdb file. Workers, Contract and Companies.

The Contract File has to been ordered by Worker UID.

All the results are in the wrestlers file. The weights of each KPI is by my own standards, so check if its ok for u.

It has been done in a spanish excel version, but it should not be a problem.

If u have a problem, just let me know!

https://www.mediafire.com/?n8lp0ah6z701u82

Cheers

Powerful_Fox
I normally use excel as a notepad and also sometimes create a league table.

I was playing about tonight and was thinking about Football Manager, so I put this together:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j145/richard_fox/ExcelTEW_zpsagqdz31r.jpg

The name at the top is a dropdown list of all workers for my promotion and the other fields then populate based on who you select. Nothing really fancy but some logic is there now should I wish to add to it. In all honesty, I haven't really looked to see what data is available in the exported db (the above is simply based on the Workers and Contracts tables). I'm a SQL developer by day anyway so I might try and have a play around with it some time.

steesh07
Nice one, was having a crack at some VBA/formula work yesterday but I'm so rusty it's unreal. Haven't done it in about 8 year.
Powerful_Fox
I haven't even touched VBA for that... yet. As more ideas come I will probably dabble but the above is INDEX and MATCH formulas with a little conditional formatting in. As ideas develop and possible suggestions come it, it might branch out a bit. I have the comparison formulas and charts working now, just a case of colouring it in. Powerful_Fox
Hi all, Sorry, I'm not wanting to hijack this thread. I just thought I'd let you know that I have popped together a first draft comparison page. It is dynamic and works with every member of my roster (using the drop down list) which is filtered in the data connection to the Access db Contracts table, it also uses the Workers table to get the skills etc. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j145/richard_fox/ExcelTEWComparison2_zpslcay6rdq.jpg It is filtered so the drop down list isn't too cluttered with every worker in the game. I will probably use it so see how certain workers on my roster are developing against some of the mainstays. If anyone else can think of additional features I will be happy to see if I can add them in e.g. extra tabs showing other info, additional comparison data etc. If not, I will have a crack at doing a Front Page to show people how to update the data to their specific company etc. EDIT: Updated with dynamic popularity slider. Powerful_Fox
It's an excel file mate yeah, I have put instructions on the frontage of the file to show Excel 2016 users how to update it to their data.

For Excel 2013 users, you may need to download the Power Query add-in from the Microsoft Support page.

The only thing I am trying to figure out at the moment is changing the Popularity region without having to go into the formula.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j145/richard_fox/ExcelTEWComparisonPopFormulaChanges_zpse8sefm1z.jpg

In order to change this for your specific area, you will need to change the highlighted text to the area name. At the moment I need to figure out how to use the area name as a drop-down list and for the popularity to change based on BOTH the worker name and the area name. This isn't as easy as I thought it would be as the worker name is a value in the data whereas the area name is a column name in the data.

I am completely open to suggestions/opinions etc. on what to do to expand this further. Remember though that I can only do what is allowed within the exported data so things like tracking skill/popularity changes and such for a worker is a no-go as it doesn't exist in the exported .mdb files. I have spoken to Adam directly about this and unfortunately it just isn't feasible to include currently.

TEW Profiler 1.01:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ouaajc8j75c3fo7/TEW_2016_Profiler_1.01.xlsx
