What year would you like to see WMMA5 start?

Recommended Posts

<p>I'm pretty sure no one will agree with me, but I'd love to see it go back to the start (1994?), so that I am personally involved with the evolution of the sport from day one.</p><p> </p><p>

Alternatively, I'd like it to start in 2018 so that it fits in with modern day perceptions of the the sport.</p><p> </p><p>

I realise that neither of those are likely to be viable (or popular)... so as a final suggestion, I wonder if it's possible to vary the start date (and have the stats adjusted accordingly).</p><p> </p><p>

Either way, I'm not too fussy about the start date because the editing tools are so rich; it's easy to adapt the database to suit my personal playstyle anyway <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I actually also agree with a 1994, beginning of MMA start date.

I'd rather this with fighters already in the database reflecting an early start in MMA competition, with say more fighters becoming active over the years that are from different martial arts, etc.

I can't remember if WMMA4 was a continuation of 3's database, but I was never a fan of 2 and 3's reboots. I like to have some lore and continuity.

True. It released every time with a LOT of significant changes each iteration (it's almost DC :p). I'd rather have it start from the beginning with a database that is fully fleshed out. So far we've had fighters change render or record and having stat overhauls (Ebisawa comes to mind). If that happens again, I'd be very confused. I don't think many people care about the history yet (as opposed to the C-verse having a dedicated following). I'm familiar with almost all GAMMA/A-1/WEFF-employed fighters so I'd love it being two years later, but for that Adam needs to have lots of renders at the ready. And I want to know what happened during those two years. But just advancing the database will make it that a lot of the loved fighters will almost immediately retire, which isn't what I'd want.

Let's have a 1999 reboot where a lot of the smaller companies just start out. There would be KDF-FC, WEFF and XCC to start with. I'm sure many would love to start anew (given many make a new company to start in TEW). But as I said I'd be game for a 1994 reboot as well, though I have a feeling that won't sit well with everybody. In '99 you can have a rolling start with GAMMA or you can start fresh. That's good for everybody.

The current plan is that it will be one year on from WMMA4, but all the shows and fights that took place in that year will be recorded in the database so that there's a sense of continuity. I'm considering having every match done via simulation so that the results are in-line with what you'd expect from the game engine, but that will depend on how much time there is.

I'm not planning much reconning, although Scottie has kindly given permission for his FivePacks renders to be used, so they'll be added, and I plan to have all the yet-to-debut fighters be moved forward and integrated into the starting database so that the game world is deeper and the starting rosters are more stable to reduce initial loading times.

I don't care which year Adam selects I just hope that if a fighter has 10 wins and 5 losses that there are 15 fights in their fight history otherwise it really confuses me especially from an immersion standpoint.

That being said i'd be fine with everything starting fresh and everyone has a 0-0 record and I can build everything from the ground up.

<p>2012 or around there.</p><p> </p><p>

It would be modern era but games wouldnt go into the far future. The problem with starting in 2018 is that your games will quickly reach 2028, amd I dont like playing that far into the future.</p>
