We kicked off this pay-per-view with in-ring action, and it was an interesting battle between two upper mid card talents in their early thirties. After being thrown to the wolves by Sean Deeley this past week on Championship Wrestling, and being forced into a match with Steve DeColt, Ernest Youngman seemed a little bit insubordinate at times. Deeley had a problem getting his protege to do his bidding, but he still had Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler backing him up at ringside. Danny Cavanagh tried to overcome the odds, and the numbers advantage, but the big man was always up against it. This 4 on 4 Elimination Match came about when Edd Stone and his group (Tim Westybrook, Cameron Vessey and Christian Price) began picking on veteran commentator Ricky Dale Johnson. Aaron Andrews has come to the rescue for RDJ, and he's also relied upon some old friends from across the border in Sam Keith, and Cameron Vessey's Uncle Bryan Vessey. And unfortunately, it was the eldest man in the match who was eliminated first, as Keith was pinned following a brutal Lariat from Tim Westybrook! Bryan Vessey and Cameron Vessey found themselves in the ring next, and the crowd were ready for Vessey versus Vessey. Then, in a strange situation that caused the crowd to erupt into a chorus of boos and whistles, Bryan Vessey dropped to the floor, and allowed his Nephew Cameron Vessey to pin him!! All of a sudden, it was 2 versus 4, and Andrews and RDJ were in real trouble! Aaron Andrews did well next, as he was able to score an elimination over Christian Price after some miscommunication between Price and his tag team partner Cameron Vessey! However, Andrews soon followed Price out of the match, after falling victim to a 'TNT Whirlwind' (Deep Six) from Tim Westybrook! This left Ricky Dale Johnson in there alone against three men, and an almost impossible task. The veteran was able to somehow eliminate Cameron Vessey, right in front of his Uncle Bryan with a sleeper hold that made Cameron fall asleep!! Tim Westybrook battered RDJ after that, and Edd Stone hit all of his trademark offence too. For the finish, Edd hit TWO 'Party's Over' Elbow Drops, and then locked the veteran in his own vicious 'Southern Justice' Texas Cloverleaf! Sonny Wildside and James Hernandez began this match at a frantic pace in their first 1 on 1 encounter ever! They knew they had to go 20 minutes, but whoever was the last man to make a fall when the time limit expired, would walk out as NOTBPW Television Champion. Unbelievably, in under five minutes, we had our first fall! James Hernandez attempted an 'Apparition #14' Spear in the corner but hit his head, hard on the turnbuckle! Wildside grabbed Hernandez's legs, and rolled him backwards into a pinning predicament that he couldn't wriggle out of! From that point on, 'Mainstream' Hernandez was furious. He dominated proceedings, but couldn't find that 'killer blow' that would allow him to pick up a fall! He hit an 'Apparition #14' Spear after around twelve minutes, but somehow, Sonny Wildside flipped over on the landing, and rolled Hernandez into ANOTHER pin! Hernandez began to get desperate around the 17 minute mark, and he STILL couldn't score a fall himself. Late on, he attempted a desperation Superplex from the top rope, but Sonny Wildside fought him off. Angry Gilmore has only been with NOTBPW for a short time, and he has already found himself facing the most dangerous man on the roster in Gargantuan. 'Man' is probably not the right word. The right word, is of course, 'Monster'. Gilmore is a fierce competitor who likes to impose his will on his opponent. But tonight, he couldn't even move Gargantuan around the ring. Let alone impose his will. Gargantuan on the other hand imposed his will on Gilmore, over and over again. He slammed into the 39 year old charismatic performer, and threw him all over the ring with hip tosses and just general throws. Gilmore isn't one to stay down without a fight though, and he used every trick in his arsenal to try and take the big man down. Finally, after around fifteen minutes, Gilmore had a rush of adrenaline, and was able to tackle 'The Monster' low, and take him down to the mat! Suddenly, Gilmore and Gargantuan were the same size, and with Gilmore's superior wrestling skills, Gargantuan looked in real trouble for possibly the first time in his Title reign. As the two men returned to their feet, Gargantuan landed a strong back elbow to Gilmore's jaw, and he hit the mat hard on his face. <p><em>I haven't really done this before, but I thought I'd give my opinions on the matches featured at The Scramble, and give you a little 'look behind the curtains' on what I was thinking when booking the matches. I'll try not to give too much away, but there were some very interesting points made by you guys. Too many to respond to individually. Apologies for the long post, but hopefully it's of interest to you guys!</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>'Mighty' Danny Cavanagh [vs] 'Shooter' Sean Deeley w/ The Shooters</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>So when I put this show together, I didn't really understand how the game works from a company size increase point of view. My previous big saves/diaries were WWE (x3), where I didn't need to worry about it... 21CW, in which again, they were the 'big boys' in the UK, and didn't need to grow or worry about shrinking... and my last NOTBPW vs CGC diary. Which I had a lot of fun with. I essentially wrote the entire diary in my head before I put it all down on paper. I knew what story I wanted to tell with the DeColts and the Stones, and it all just flowed! But again, I didn't care about growing the company or anything like that. In this save, NOTBPW are in trouble in Canada. USPW and SWF keep beating them in National Battles, and it's worrying. I have lost key roster members due to not being able to compete with other offers. I've also not really got a successor for Steve DeColt. So that brings me to this match. Thrown together for no reason. This was a test for Danny Cavanagh and Sean Deeley. Their stats aren't great, but I still have a place for both men on my roster... for now...</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mystery Opponent: </strong></p><p><strong>

Trent Shaffer [vs] 'Wild Man' Jack DeColt</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Shaffer is an interesting case. I had plans for him, but he picked up a nasty injury in a match with Gargantuan. He spent a while on the shelf, and when he came back, Star Quality was a skill I was really looking for. I didn't have a feud for him, but Jack DeColt needed a win on pay-per-view in order to be kept strong for what's round the corner for him.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>'Awesome' Wade Orson [vs] POISON</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>This has been a fun feud to write. Again, I don't see either of these guys as top level Main Eventers, but if I had a mass exodus, I could easily see them being upper mid carders and lower level Main Eventers. Their feud could have been over at this point, as Orson has now won twice against POISON. But the first win was via count out, and following the second, POISON revealed his new trick, the 'Green Mist'!! Inspired by Tajiri of course!! </em><img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><em> This weapon is a new string to POISON's bow, as his 'Riddler' character continues to develop... Big things are round the corner for both men. I'm currently writing week 2 of December. The Scramble was week 2 of September, and they're both heavily involved in storylines.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steve DeColt & Ricky DeColt [vs] The Ring Generals w/ The Shooters</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Around the time I began this diary, I realised I had the three DeColt Brothers as my top three guys. Not a lot has changed in that time, but I HAD to find something for Steve and Ricky to do. Steve is my figurehead, and with no obvious successor, that is unlikely to change for a long time. Ricky doesn't really have the Star Quality to succeed him, but I'm hoping he somehow GAINS it. Teaming with his older Brother can't hurt can it? As for the Ring Generals, with all the injuries to my Tag Team Division, their 100 Experience is more valuable than ever. </em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RDJ, Aaron Andrews, Bryan Vessey & Sam Keith [vs] Edd Stone, Tim Westybrook, Cameron Vessey & Christian Price</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>I wanted to have some fun with this match, and saw it as a way to create a number of new characters. Tim Westybrook was dominant, and he is making his new role as the 'Enforcer' his own... Edd Stone did next to nothing in the match, and allowed Primed For Progress and Tim to do his heavy lifting. He's the leader, but he's a chickenpoo heel... As for the veteran team, Aaron Andrews needs some wins, and some momentum, and a feud with Edd Stone and co can't hurt, as long as he picks up wins!! RDJ's 1 year contract is up, and I'm not going to renew it. The 47 year old had a good run, and competed in some decent matches (just under 20 in total). But his stats are rapidly decreasing, and I want a commentator to be able to be a bit more involved (more on that in a couple of weeks)… Bryan Vessey turning on his team solidifies him as an ultra heel. He's a year younger than RDJ, and has just begun his 1 year deal with us. I see him as RDJ's replacement in the nostalgia/legend/special attraction role. But he's different because he's a heel, and he'll join up with 'The Animals' for now... Sam Keith I have big plans for. As I write December, he's not actually appeared in a NOTBPW ring again. And he may never. However, I see him as a kind of Ric Flair, in that even at 56, he can still go in the ring!! Since I am putting a lot of stock in families in this diary, don't be surprised if I add 'The Keith Brothers' to the growing list (DeColts, Stones, DaLays, Monteros, Vesseys!!)</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>20 Minute Scramble Match for the NOTBPW Television Title: </strong></p><p><strong>

Comments: <em>Around half of you thought this would happen, which is more than I expected!! I was trying to build Sonny Wildside up as an underdog that you guys could root for, and that seems to have worked. However, like I say, around half of you THOUGHT he would win. And I didn't want that!! </em><img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><em> Haha!! I wanted the shock factor, but I do agree with what a lot of you have been saying. Hernandez has outgrown the Title, and his popularity reflects that. It's time for something new with him, and he's doing well so far. As for Sonny, his stats have improved dramatically in the last few months. He's really impressed me both in and out of the ring!! The problem I have is that even in such a short spell, even HE has outgrown the Title, and I now need to get it off him! I'm considering adding another Championship to the company. I'm just not sure what that will look like. The lower card guys don't have a belt to compete for when Sonny and Hernandez are Champion. If Sonny drops it to a lower card guy, then the upper mid card guys don't either! I've considered a Cruiserweight Title, but I don't have many cruiserweights on the roster, so I'd have to sign some people. I've also considered a 6-man tag, but that can get chaotic in my opinion, and I feel I already have too many 3/4 man stables as it is. Comments: <em>A couple of you mentioned it, so I'm going to comment on it. Gargantuan's reign as NOTBPW Champion has been great so far. It was only ever going to be a relatively short one, but I need to build someone up to beat him. Whoever it is, is going to have to be the guy I choose to be my new figurehead too! I know this is a huge responsibility for one man to shoulder, but it's the way I see things. I could go with a heel Champion, and turn Gargantuan face. That's something I'm toying with. The guy I have in mind to beat him is a huge gamble, but I think you'll all be shocked by it! Watch this space on that one. Angry Gilmore has made a decent start in NOTBPW. His match ratings need to improve, and again, his Star Quality is low. His match ratings do improve in the next few months though, and I'm happy with his performance levels for now.</em></p>

I would fellow the WWF & WCW Titles

World Title = Main Eventer
Intercontinental/ US title = Upper
European/ TV title = Lower

Have Gargantuan say he isn't a Canadian Champion but a World Champion then create a new Canadian title for your Upper guys and you already have the TV title for your Lower guys

Yeah or I could follow them instead?!

That would be a good way to slot a Title in between 'World', and 'lower card'. TV Title has had a good lineage, but it'd be hard to bring a new Title in and make it instantly credible in the lower card

Hi Lloyd, I don't really post on GDS but I'm a long term reader and I just wanted to say I really appreciated the insight into your thoughts!

Thank you my friend. Very nice of you to say. It's something I might do more of in the future. When I posted the show, I kind of thought: "Why did I book Cavanagh versus Deeley again?!" and it flowed out from there! I'm writing about 3 months ahead right now, which I like to do, so when I post a show I wrote three months ago it's cool sometimes to think back and remember why I did something.

Hey I just read this entire diary last night and I love it. But I do have a question about Wade Orson. What about... a new finisher? Now his current one is truly awesome. But what happens if someone closthlines him, and they are out of place like, at where his head is? I'd imagine he could kick up and do a stunner or maybe a cutter! Call it "Bounce Back #2"! He was a 2-time National Champion in developmental, and also held the tag titles with Mark Griffin in the year or so he was down there. He had a record of 25-1-8, with his only draw being his worst outing. His match ratings averaged 58, which for down there at the time was excellent. I tried to book him as a star in the making to begin with as I said, but I also gave him losses where it was necessary and expected. He lost to Sean Deeley THREE times, and I paired him with Solomon Gold to help him out too. Initially I had an idea to do an American Blonde versus Canadian Blonde feud. Natural and Owen Love deciding they want proteges to continue the 'CanAm Blondes' legacy, and it was going to be those two. They'd mentor them as a team, and then split as individuals, but stay friendly at first. Then jealousy, and animosity would come in between Natural and Love. Ending in a feud between the two teams. Eventually, the younger guys could have turned on the older ones, and gone from there too. But with Love's injury, I decided to do Natural as the mentor to both. Then it became clear that Wildside was breaking away. He is much more talented than Gold. It only works if the opponent is stooped or knelt down next to him. We also saw POISON counter that very move at The Scramble (in the post-match beatdown). His finisher works as a 'counter' move. Almost like the RKO can and does. In the coming months, the move stays strong, but I have a plan with how it can be countered and avoided, leading to Orson needing to change it. Natural and Owen Love deciding they want proteges to continue the 'CanAm Blondes' legacy, and it was going to be those two. They'd mentor them as a team, and then split as individuals, but stay friendly at first. Then jealousy, and animosity would come in between Natural and Love. Ending in a feud between the two teams. Eventually, the younger guys could have turned on the older ones, and gone from there too. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Well that sounds like it could have been great too, I both hate and love it when this game throws a spanner in the works be it injury, ability etc</p>

I both love and hate the game sometimes for the things it throws up at me. I like to just roll with the punches though, and re-book on the fly. The fact is, injuries, deaths, people wanting to leave, it just happens! It happens in real life, and I like that it happens in-game.
