<p>I looked over at my oldest daughter, Marjorie. She was holding her cellphone in her hands and it was pointed at me. “You ready dad?” She asked me with a smile -- her mother’s smile.</p><p> </p><p> I nodded my head. She was going to film the LiveStream for me so that I could give an announcement to our Facebook and Instagram followers. She held up a hand and began a countdown. My little production student. She was going to the University of Colorado studying Film and Television production. She was supposed to finish this school year and had expressed in interest in coming to work for me. I think she should move back to Los Angeles and pursue a career proper, but she is her mother’s daughter. She pointed to me.</p><p> </p><p> “Hello fans of Rocky Mountain Wrestling. I am Robert Oxford, the promoter of record for this wonderful organization. I usually try to stay behind the scenes to fulfill my role as promoter and match-maker, but I am going to you today to announce some exciting news for Rocky Mountain Wrestling. We have one show left this calendar year -- Christmas Chaos -- and we hope to see you all there. 2017 has been a great year and we are looking to 2018 to really grow our organization.</p><p> </p><p> “With that in mind, I am officially announcing the expansion of Rocky Mountain Wrestling from one monthly show to two monthly shows. Starting Saturday, Week 2, of January 2018 we will begin our monthly series of Rocky Mountain Wrestling: Live, a monthly show focused on continuing to bring you the best action we can possible bring you. It will allow us to feature even more talent than our current schedule allows.</p><p> </p><p> “In addition to promoting an extra show, I’m pleased to announce that Rocky Mountain Wrestling: Live will also feature a brand new championship: The Can-Am Championship. This championship will be exclusively defended on Rocky Mountain Wrestling: Live and will provide another opportunity for our very talented roster.</p><p> </p><p> “These are not the only advancements coming to Rocky Mountain Wrestling. We are hoping to bring you news of some of these other developments in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support.”</p><p> </p><p> I nodded to Marjorie and she stopped the livestream. “Not bad, Dad.” She said with a laugh. “You know what we need?” She asked and I cocked my head. We?</p><p> </p><p> “What’s that?” I asked her.</p><p> </p><p> She smiled. “Television distribution for our major events. Maybe on one of the local low-power stations. I know that Rocky Mountain Sports Net is looking for some on-demand programing. Their head of programing teaches at my school. Want me to look into it?”</p><p> </p><p> “Sure, honey. What can it hurt?” I did not think we would be able to get television distribution, not at our current size, but who knows? The Rocky Mountain Sports Network was a small local station that showcased high school sports from around the area. They had recently gotten some on-demand capabilities. If we could get on-demand that could help us… Maybe we can. Only one way to find out...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I'm planning on expanding RMW to 2 shows starting at the first of 2018. The second show will allow me to feature more of the talent coming out of the dojo. It will also allow me to feature some of the talent that gets left off of shows because I can only feature so many guys each month. We've hit that point narratively.<p> </p><p> The Rocky Mountain Sports Network does not exist in cannon C-Verse, but it is a network that I've created with the smallest of reaches. I've done this for a variety of reasons, but mostly because I believe that there needs to be more local networks and once a company hits 'small' with a decent fanbase, they should be able to get some sort of local broadcasting for their events. We are not going to weekly TV or anything like that -- nor am I going to 'game' the system to give us big reaches. It just allows us to have on-demand shows which I think narratively fits.</p><p> </p><p> I'd also like to thank everyone for the positive comments. I'm glad my diary has been so well received. It has been a productive month of November to say the least. 23 shows (if I don't get the Christmas show up tonight), as many narrative pieces. I'm pleased with how the world is developing and the story we are building here -- thank you for commenting, predicting, and encouraging. It means a lot to me.</p></div></blockquote>

<p>He sat across my desk from me and scowled. The Straight Shooter was known for not being political in the locker room. All he cared about was doing a good job. As a wrestler and as a former booker. He was my best friend -- had been my best friend for years. We’d won titles in Japan together. Dominated the Total Championship Wrestling tag division for years. He had more singles success, was probably a more entertaining wrestler -- had a little bit more ‘It’ Factor. He had booked for Tommy for years. Done a good job. Been reliable. Loyal. BriCo bought the company, Rhodes took over, and he was suddenly one of the boys again.</p><p> </p><p>

“**** Rhodes. **** BriCo. The whole set up. How long had I been there? Twenty one years or so? A long time. First they demote me and now they let me go while I was rehabbing my shoulder. Screw them.” He was mad. Madder than he normally gets. </p><p> </p><p>

“What are you going to do now?” I asked him. I was genuinely concerned about my friend. He had torn his rotator cuff several months ago and had been rehabbing it. He finally had a clean bill of health, but he also found himself unemployed and bitter. Never a good combination.</p><p> </p><p>

“I’m going to come work for you.” He said with a grin. Not so mad now.</p><p> </p><p>

“Say that again?” </p><p> </p><p>

“I’m going to work for you, Robby. We’ve been friends for how long? We were partners for how long? We crossed the globe together. I wasn’t able to come help you when you got your shop running, but now I can. I don’t need the money, but I’ve got some time left in me in the ring and I’ve got a mind that still works great for the business.” He was very blunt. He wasn’t asking. He was telling me.</p><p> </p><p>

“Joel, I can’t ask you to do that.”</p><p> </p><p>

“You’re not. I’m telling you. I was tired of the politics anyway. Kyle is a son of a b*** now. Focused only on making sure BriCo is happy with him. Ricky retired. He let go of Edd. Fred. Lost Jay. Lost Guide. He’s failing. It’s a sinking ship. They tossed me off and now I’m coming here to help you build the next generation of talent. I can work with the guys in the ring, help them get good. I can help you book. I can help you produce shows. We’ll be a team again.”</p><p> </p><p>

I leaned back in my chair. He was making me a good offer. I’d only been booking for two years. He’d booked for a lot longer and a lot more shows. I could use his creativity. I could also benefit from having another experienced guy in the ring. We were producing even more graduates from the school and having a steady hand to work with them would be great. I could have Joel anchor Rocky Mountain Wrestling: Live. I had been his senior producer after I retired. </p><p> </p><p>

“Okay, Joel. I’d love to have you. If you’re sure.” I told him honestly.</p><p> </p><p>

“I’m sure.” He said with a grin. “It’s good to be partners again.”</p>

Fantastic work so far! Your pace reminds me of my old NEO run. I know I couldn't keep up that kind of a schedule anymore. Hope you don't burn out! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I totally agree with your on the local TV thing. Not big network but a regional sports network or local Indy company (like a Joe-TV here in the Seattle area) or the local Me-TV affiliate. Those type of smaller networks would be great for a small sized company. I often do the same thing in my saves

<p>And that's a wrap on our second year! 24 shows in the books. Whew! I will do some narrative from Robert's perspective (plus covering all of the awards from the year, roster moves in the company, etc..) soon, but I wanted to take a moment out of character to say thank you for reading.</p><p> </p><p>

It's been incredibly fun to do this diary so far. I've really gotten into Robert and my group of guys. Riley has been a major surprise for me and I love how over he's gotten. I've loved the development of The Hazard Gang and being able to turn Buck and Wes into consistent members of the roster.</p><p> </p><p>

I have very high hopes for Clyde Puder and all of The Devil's Rejects. Hopefully all four of them will continue to develop like they have been.</p><p> </p><p>

I updated the information page (I think it's the second or third post in the diary) to include a staff section, just in case anyone is wondering who the announcers are, who the ref is, as well as the narrative staff (which adds in Joel as well as Robert's daughter). It also now includes a link to the first set of information about dojo graduates as any easy link. I've also added the Can-Am title.</p><p> </p><p>

I want to thank King Bison his work helping me graphically. Bison has made all of my re-renders custom for me. Starting with the Jebediah render that became Jakob Yoder. He's made me a Running Wolf, a Riley McManus, and the entire Devil's Rejects -- making all of them feel like mine. </p><p> </p><p>

I'd also like to thank Christian Shane. He's made all of the RMW Title belts that I'm currently using -- specifically for this diary (though they're all available for you to download). He made two versions of both the Heavyweight and Tag belts so that they have brown straps and match.</p><p> </p><p>

A third thank you goes to SMW88 who made the wonderful Robert Oxford render that I use. It has helped make Robert stand out for me.</p><p> </p><p>

A preemptive thank you goes to KYE who is working on an updated Rocky Mountain Wrestling logo for this diary that will be debuting soon. I am in the debt of all of these individuals. They've helped me because they wanted to and I sincerely appreciate it.</p><p> </p><p>

Many of you have been consistent predictors on the show and I appreciate that as well. I know with the last several shows they've been done rapid fire because I had the target of getting through 24 shows in the month of November and I wanted to hit that goal. With Christmas Chaos being up, we will be going back to giving you time to predict.</p><p> </p><p>

I appreciate all of your feedback and positive comments about this diary -- and even the few critiques (that have also been positive) that have helped make the diary even better.</p><p> </p><p>

Thank you!</p><p>

<p>2017 was in the books. We had a good year. We steadily made money and steadily grew in popularity despite both an economy and wrestling business being in the toilet. Hopefully those are about to become the upward climb. Christmas Chaos was another good show in a series of good shows. Chris came in to put Primus over and help make him look like a star, Riley and Marshall tore the house down in a match that had the whole building rocking. We are really set up for a good 2018 -- and a 2018 that sees us expanding from our normal one show a month to two shows a month with the Rocky Mountain Wrestling: Live show series that we will be presenting.</p><p> </p><p> I logged on to TotalExtremeWrestling.com to check the awards. I did not expect to win any -- though we could potentially get Most Improved Company of the Year, but I was not holding my breath and I was not going to be offended if I wasn’t.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Wrestler of the Year</strong> - Champagne Lover [sOTBW]<p> <strong>Company of the Year</strong> - PGHW</p><p> <strong>Tag Team of the Year</strong> - The Red Scourge [Pirata Malvado and Blood Raven]</p><p> <strong>Match of the Year</strong> - Champagne Lover def. While TCW is the number five company in the world, they have had a bad year. Currently, Sammy Bach is their figure head. They’ve lost: Rocky Golden to SWF, Joel Bryant to letting him go, Bryan Vessey to letting him go, Troy Tornado to USPW, Benny Benson to USPW, Jay Chord to USPW, Guide to SWF, Aaron Andrews to USPW, Danny Fonzareli to just letting him go, Joshua Taylor to USPW, Ricky Dale Johnson to retirement, Eddie Peak to just letting him go, Titan, Edd Stone, and Elliot Thomas also all were let go over the previous years. Two years had not been good to TCW at all and Kyle took the fall -- as he should. You can’t lose that much talent -- your entire main event scene and several young prospects and keep your job.</p><p> </p><p> Burning Hammer, who lost 21 million dollars to an accountant embezzling, has several contracts up that they are not renewing -- two of whom I will be trying to get to bring in to help bolster up our roster.</p><p> </p><p> After Christmas Chaos, I made the decision to let all three of the Paratroopers go. While I had initially brought them in to help bolster our mid card, with the graduates from the dojo they quickly became unnecessary additions and I didn’t want them to not get used on a regular basis -- especially since they had work other places. I let Jesse Christian go because, frankly he was just consistently getting worse in the ring and I did not have any plans for him to be anything other than a midcard gate keeper. Avalanche and Scythe also moved on. Both were unhappy with how they were being used and both were over shadowed by other monster heels that were more prominently featured. I don’t begrudge either of them for wanting to leave.</p><p> </p><p> I was bringing in former SOTBW star Boom Boom Jamaica as a babyface, former WLW and DAVE star Acid as a heel, former NOTBW grappler Hugh Ancire as a babyface to round out The House of Stone, as well as Big Bruiser Findlay and KC Glenn from Burning Hammer. With these additions, I felt like I was solidifying our work-rate for this year and refreshing the potential match ups. I was excited for what 2018 could bring.</p>

<p>Rocky Mountain Wrestling has signed official partnerships with Pro Wrestling Saisho and ZEN. While they are not in the Confederation of the Territories with the North American companies, my hope was that we could use these connections to potentially bring in the occasional talent from overseas to give our shows some international flare.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Main event is a tough one to call. I think the Can-Am title is more for the younger mid-card guys. So Art and Joel are on the wrong side of 40 and I’m not sure what they or the company would achieve by having one of them win. So that leaves us with Ian who has been on a nice run and Ekuma. Going to go with Ekuma, I think</strong></p><p> </p><p>

I like the secondary show a lot! I didn’t go with Joel as champ because I wasn’t sure if, narratively speaking, he would want to hold the strap! But cool to see him pick up the victory. I wonder where he will take it from here
